    Before you go hollowing out screw holes in the TPS sensor there is a mechanical idle adjustment on the driver side front of the throttle body you can adjust while looking at your meter and get your.58V. It may be behind a block off plate. The screw is a torx head. Just my 2 cents.

    hi mossman381 great video there my friend by the way I'm just wondering are they any good chrome bumpers order to fit my truck I got a 95 GMC K 1500 Sierra I'm just trying to find a good second-hand one rear one

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finding a good used one will be pretty hard. They are getting older and the bumper usually takes the most abuse. My rear bumper is rusted. I am going to just order some new aftermarket bumpers on Ebay. I have gotten good aftermarket bumpers for my 2000 and 2002 in the past. I will do a video when I do order them.

    Quick question, I have a 92 Chevy C1500 with the 5.7L. I’m currently experiencing issues of it wanting to stall out when I come to a stop after driving it for 35+ minutes. I’ve changed the idle air control motor, I rebuilt the throttle body, I’ve changed out the fuel filter. I’m wondering can it be the TPS? Is it also possible that my fuel filter is plugged up? I just changed it less than 2 months ago but when I bought the truck I know it was sitting for a few months.

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would check the TPS like I do in the video. Have you changed your O2 sensor?

    • @brandonrayner5253
      @brandonrayner5253 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mossman381 no I haven’t yet, could that be my issue? I’m just trying to figure out what could be wrong as it’s not throwing any codes

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't trust the codes on these early trucks anyway. I would check to make sure your TPS is giving the right signal and then change the O2 sensor so you know it's good. Even if the O2 sensor isn't bad your truck will run so much better with a fresh one. I think if the fuel filter was plugged it would run bad all the time. Also get a new PCV valve. Have you done a major tuneup? Plugs, wires, air filter. rotor, distributor cap.

    • @brandonrayner5253
      @brandonrayner5253 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mossman381 yes I have replaced the cap and rotor, plugs and wires, PCV valve and air filter. I originally started with the cap and rotor because I noticed that there was ?rust inside the cap and I’ve been replacing basically everything from that point on because I’m not sure when any of it was changed out last. But I’ll definitely check the TPS and see what it says.

      @@mossman381 I just tested it and it starts with a reading of 0.53-0.54 (it jumps back and forth) and when I move the throttle it does climb up to 4.43

  • @luke3275
    @luke3275 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My truck idles around 1200 and stutters a bunch when I first get on it. I'm guessing it's the TPS but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When working with these older trucks start with the basics. The pcv valve is probably a good start. You can check your tps before buying a new one. Vacuum leaks can cause these problems. If you just bought the truck or it hasn't been worked on for a long time I would recommend doing what they call a major tune up. That would be spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, oil change. A lot of times that will not only fix problems but make the truck run much better and make it more reliable. O2 sensor would be another good thing to change if it's never been done. Good luck.

    • @luke3275
      @luke3275 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      mossman381 many thanks, I have done the major tune up so that’s why I turned to the TPS. Looking at it now it’s all wire nutted and messed with.

    I think the computer gets confused when it sees the wrong voltage and starts defaulting back to base idle , then it tries again, cuts back on fuel, then just keeps looping in a surge.
