In this video I'm using Spitfire Audio's LABS libraries (Textural Pads) to create a quick chord backing to compose a melody on top of in MuseScore 4.
This is made possible by MuseScore 4's ability to playback through VST instruments, which opens up some amazing sonic avenues!

I'm really liking Musescore 4. What an upgrade from Musescore 3. Huge upgrade.
It really is very impressive. Just a pity that so many features were lost due to the building from scratch process. So it's worth having both MS 3 and MS 4 for now.
I hated this musescore 4, much strange
Maybe in the next year i start to work on thie software
Dynamics and some notation doesnt work properly
Very helpful information!! I use the chord symbols to help me 'sketch' my idea, but I never thought about having those play back as anything but piano. This is a quick way to bring some pads into a composition.
Glad I could get you thinking in new ways!
This was nice and helpful!
Thank you!
Excellent video! Thanks so much David.
Thank you!
Amazing video thanks man 🙏🏼
Thank you so much!
I'm new to this program and this is very helpful to me.
Glad to hear it. Happy music writing.
Great video
Thank you!
Great video! I’m wondering if muse score’s playback engine would trigger articulations in other VST‘s like BBCSO? If you used their flute sound for example?
Not yet, but making presets like that is on the cards for the future. At least, that was the impression I've got from the development team.
@@mccoydtromb Great news (fingers crossed) and thanks for your quick response!
The dynamics change the volume of the flute part - but the volume of the VST chords remain the same. Is there any way the > < can change the VSTs ?
You could make a new instrument, assign the vst to that instrument, then use the Realise chord symbols function on that instrument. Then apply dynamics to that instrument. I would only use chord symbols with VST instruments for sketching, not for a full composition.
Spitefire doesn't support Linux. Pity.
Unfortunately VSTs are not supported in Linux version of Musescore 4 yet. It's one of the features due to be added in the next release if I recall correctly.
