My absolute favorite part of watching these tutorials is the parts when i disagree with you. I'm sitting there going "what you should do from here is this with the strings, then the brass comes in, and then it'd be cool." And, while obviously you go in a totally different direction, it's now given me the inspiration I need to jump off from and write my *own* piece that *does* do those things.
So thank you Guy, never stop.

It’s a great deal if you haven’t already bought most of the individual libraries. I think I had everything but Firewood Piano, which I don’t need. I regularly rely on Epic Strings and Winds for sketching. They seldom stay in the final polished versions. But they’re great for getting an idea down quickly. The Cinematic Perc, though, is great if you EQ it to taste. The brass sounds great, but its usefulness is limited by the fact that the patches are all in octaves. You can’t play just a trumpet line, for example. On the other hand, as you implied, if you’re supplementing it with the free Discover, you can get around that limitation easily enough. One could do quite a lot with just Discover, this library, and a couple of the free synths and samplers that come with most DAWs these days.

I'm a music noob. I am autistic and blessed with perfect pitch and have been composing music since I was 5! (I used to stim about on the carpet and listen to Beethoven symphonies back to back as a child). However, I know ZERO theory whatsoever. I compose entirely by ear and by memorizing patterns.
I really appreciate your channel because you don't dwell on complex terminology but rather SHOW what you mean by examples. For someone who plays and composes solely by ear, this is VERY valuable to me! You're the main reason I've begun considering composition as a valid source of potential income someday.
So, thank you, first off! For being so easily understandable, for your amazing sense of humor, and for putting all these videos out for FREE! What a legend!
Now, I have a question, too.
On your site, you have a class that's upwards of $20k. Who is that class geared towards? Could somebody without any formal music training benefit from your course? Or is it more for people who have completed college music classes? I am bedbound because of a neurological disorder, so I don't actually have the money or ability to take class, but... you are genuinely the first teacher I have ever managed to follow with this much success! I have been mentally drooling over your class just because of how amazing these videos have been. So, I would like to know what prerequisites I would need if I ever bought your class.

having perfect pitch is absolutely amazing! i have a masters degree in music composition, but i cannot read or write music, and have zero formal classical training. however i've learned a modest amount of music theory through practise and watching videos like this one, so i also write by ear, and make a living off of composing! i just wanted to say: don't feel like you *need* to know everything there is about music theory to be a good composer (even though it is extremely helpful) as writing by ear is already such an impressive feat! :-)
edit: i would also go as far to say that i have learned more about composition from watching people such as Guy than from university!

@@calebpagan2226 it's all freelance work to be honest. i'm freelancing for a big production company as a sub contractor and doing some other stuff in between. many revenue streams help to make a living! it's slow sometimes and work/pay can be a bit inconsistent but i love it and it's enough to get by

I already had most of these instruments. I like the instruments in this bundle. I guess I take some issue with the brass because it’s hard not to make it deafening 😂. But if that’s what you need then it’s great. Awesome piece, Guy! I always enjoy watching you put these together.
I have 3 of the 5. Spitfire wants $39 to complete the set. Not too bad, but they know I've already got 2 Albions, BBC Orch and about 5 or 6 others. Will think about it
A bit off topic but still: I see you changed midi keyboards from NI S88 to the Arturia Keylab 88 in the studio. Any particular reason for that or did the studio S88 simply replace the shed S88 after the unfortunate 'tea incident'? Thanks for the great content!

Wow. So effortless. Now, you just hit that big GMaj chord after the ascending line, and started creating the big brass version of the theme. The movie has become a super hero show! Lol. The camera turns from the pleasant suburban scene to a caped super hero flying through a cloudless sky. 😊

Hi there, am a big fan of your work and wanted to ask what libraries you tend to use when composing. I am currently very confused about what libraries I should get since I haven't found a video discussing the following topic. I am looking for the best complete orchestral library, or I would like to know which exact libraries I should get for each section of an orchestra (preferably the first). The cost of these libraries doesn't matter. It would be a great help to me and probably many others if you could make a video covering this topic. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work!
I’ve not sketched a tune as good as that in 20 years and Guy nails it in 30 minutes with a fairly limited library. Hats off yet again😂

Great composing! At first, I didn't like Originals Intimate Strings but the more I used it, the more I grew to really like that library. Now, I own four Originals libraries in which one or two of them always ends up in my template for a song.
The intimate strings library can add a nice velvety touch when in combination with other string libraries. I've had success with that. It's a relatively cheap way to enhance other cheaper libraries if on a budget, I've found.
Good taste! I have a couple more premium libraries now but intimate strings is still one of my favorites. Truly some beautiful sounds. Personally, I like them better than epic strings.

That looks a very different room to where you're normally in..... On topic though, i had some of these that I'd bought separately - strings and brass, but have added the rest as part of this promotion, which I got at a discounted price for having two or three of the packages.
Looking forward to using it for exactly the same reasons as here, as a writing aid.
How often do your compositions make it to film/tv by only using these VI’s?? Or are they always re-recorded with a live orchestra??
I like much what you are doing...big fun. And you have proven again, that it is easier to write to the death of the hero than the silent mourning of his mother at his grave. When you started with this motiv, I thought of, well, much more adagio and more of dying than swelling notes. Maybe another day!

I notice that you've changed master keyboards... after much research I've done the same and have the 61 note KEYLAB mkii version of the ATURIA you are using, which I have sat on top of my old 88 note weighted Clavinova which I love - thus now having both a synth feel plus the weighted keys from the Clav. I can't find your review of the ATURIA... or have you yet to do one? My research has paid off as I'm absolutely delighted with the KEYLAB. I would be keen to hear your thoughts/review.

Hello Guy, have you considered trying out presonus symphonic orchestra? Or maybe you did it already? It's 99$. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, because it's really cheap as for a full orchestra library. Is it any good or worth it? For a beginner maybe? Or is it better to go with some spitfire or eastwest?
Personnaly I feel the seasons according to what I see on this channel.

A little OT thingy. I notice that you have changed the order of things in the transport bar. How did you do this?
Your videos are always enjoyable and fascinating to watch. So, i am 17 minutes and 40 seconds in to the video. You just added a little counter melody, and that involved a play through or two of what you have thus far. As of the most recent (in my experience) iteration--including the new counter melodic thing--this sounds very cinematic. I am getting a mental picture of the early parts of a movie: near the end of the intro credits, the camera has settled on a suburban street of similar houses, lawns, trees, etc, and we are now waiting for a prologue moment to start the movie, perhaps dad has just left for work and mom is finishing the kids lunches before they run out the door. Nothing bad is yet happening--that will be at the end of this scene at the soonest (or maybe not for some time) as the pleasant background is revealed that tells the viewer the stakes of the story...
Considering I have Nucleus Lite, I am not sure I would really need something like this, as inspiring as you made it sound. How would you stack it up against Nucleus Lite? I have BBCSO Core as well, but ensembles are nice sometimes.....
Nucleus lite is better imo, I have both. The best thing about the spitfire is the strings, but then again, you can buy the strings by itself for $29. The strings in Nucleus lite are still great, but Nucleus brass is WAY better and not limited to octaves.
i write a lot of theme music and would love to run one by you sometime,but only if you have time.

I need your advice sir. I don't compose for a living but I don't like to buy "just ok stuff" I don't want to spend my money on this Originals Orchestra to just upgrade to something way better later. Should I just save up and get The Abbey Road One Orchestral Foundation or even the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra? I want the absolute beat sound quality, realism and more options than the originals

Originals choir finish's this off. I wonder why they didn't include it? I found piano was a bit hefty on the RAM.
Because they would like you to buy their stuff! So they wont give you everything you want in one go
