And this is in no way to blame Seiya for this game. It’s just eerily similar. He’s been the second best hitter in MLB since Aug. 1, so the cubs are nowhere near the playoffs without him.

I've never felt worse as a Cubs fan watching a regular-season game. Everything about that season was magic; Kerry Wood's 20K game, Sosa's 66 homers, and the push for to make the playoffs for the first time in my memory. And then this happened...that the Cubs were able to overcome it to squeak by in a game 163 was nothing short of a miracle.

I had flashbacks to this just now, yes. The difference might be that Seiya has had an awesome last month and the Cubs would have been nowhere without his bat recently. I'll have to wait and see if the Cubs can make this up and write the same ending as 1998: A playoff berth and (likely) a quick exit. With any outcome, the Cubs have vastly exceeded expectations this season.

  • @jimjohnson5752

This call was horrible for so many different reasons. First off, it was a more of a fly ball, not a line drive. Second they could not figure out what the score was and how many runs actually scored. Took em a while to sort out these rather important details. Third, Stone stated "Brant Brown is beside himself" as the TV shows him casually gathering his stuff and heading out of the dugout. Oh well. They need to do better.
