Can you do a more indept video on how you have been journalling so consistently. What was your strategy? What routine you followed. What advice you give to people having done this for a year. How to overcome perfectionism or Anxiety etc.. Most people don't have privacy and live with others. So the idea of another person reading your most intimate and vulnerable moments is quite intimidating for a lot of us. Will you be doing a house tour? Videos on how you were able to afford the house at such a young age without a partner. ✨ Congratulations Girrrlll! 🍾 🥂 🥄

One thing I've noticed about journaling is that I'm kinder to myself on paper than I am in my head. Something about writing it down makes me realise how ridiculous that voice in my head really is.

I just started journaling again and it is so helpful. My bf broke up with me and I no longer have a therapist. I start my morning writing out my feelings and allowing myself to cry. I write about my childhood to heal some inner child trauma. I write every thought no matter how silly it sounds. Too much emotions are stuck in our body and writing helps get it out

This is so crazy I found this video today. I was just journaling last night about how I barely wrote because I was worried about my future self judging my past self. I would hide more and more from myself. This year I've been writing like a mad woman, talking about shame, trust, goals, and just reflecting so much. I even mentioned reading one of my family members journal from the early 1900s and the entry was something like "I fed the chickens today." That made me feel so free, if someone can write about feeding a chicken, I can write whatever I please in my own journals! Excited to see more from you!

I’ve been journaling since I was a kid, and going back to read all those small events makes me so happy. And it’s nice to realize those issues that seemed huge back then, were actually not that big of a deal! It makes it easier to look at roadblocks now, and analyze them for what they really are, and not letting them take over.

I have been going through an identity crisis recently. There have been so many changes in my life...end of a relationship, new job, fresh out of college...I have spent a lot of the past year catering to the needs of others, completely drifting away from the independent, powerful, and creative woman I was before this relationship. A few days ago I hit an all time low with regard to my mental health and decided I was tired of feeling like this. I have reached out to my loved ones and they have all given their support and advice but after watching just a few of your videos, I found myself becoming motivated about my well being and self growth for the first time an a very long time. I am going to get my shit back together because at the end of the day all I have is myself to rely on. I used to journal back in middle school and forgot how much it helped. Cheers to a new chapter of journalling, financial prosperity, and personal growth.

I started journaling again right after your first journaling Video. I had pretty much stopped during university and it showed in my bad mental health. Having to do something daily stresses me out, because it's so easy to miss a day and then just give up. So I told myself I would journal regularly- whatever that means. So I pretty much have written at least once a week often more. So that's a great success and helped me a lot. Thanks for reminding me to write! 😊
Also: why not live life twice?! That's so perfect!!! ♥️
I think it helps to write out the negative to work through it, but you're right, it's definitely important to write down the good, so we can remember it 😊

I've started journaling this year and I've been petty consistent, its been really useful to me, but my journal is very negative, since I don't have anyone in my life to really talk to, its turned into a place to rant and that's not what I want to look back on, but everytime i open the book its hard for me to not write whats happened in the day which is mostly bad, I think I should definitely work on prompts instead from now on.
Along with journaling I've been trying to do a photo a day (trying lol), usually of myself since I realised that I don't have photos of myself from the last 11 years, since I was 14!

Same here. I always end up crying whenever I go back and read my journal. But I was mostly writing on the bad days. So I am trying to be more consistent.
Also I have not tooken ANY pictures of my self and that isn't good. What will I show my grandchildren?
Keep trying it will get better. I love you in case anyone doesn't tell you. 😘

i'm not even finished with the video but this got me super motivated 👀👀 i think i'll start tomorrow with the first prompt from joclub. AND 9:15 CAN WE PLEASE APPRECIATE IT?? oof i always have this brain fog and my mind is constantly busy, to the point where i can't even remember what i was thinking about. and since i apparently like to pour out my emotions every now and then, randomly in the youtube comments like this, why wouldn't i do the same for journaling?? 💀 it would deffo help me. my only problem is to stay consistent. but i got this. i believe in me. GET IT.
edit: i finished the video and jo, i want to thank you for this!! you are very well-spoken and that makes listening to you such a joy! there's something really cool about being able to express yourself and your feelings, and journaling probably helps too. okay. i'm starting tomorrow morning. 🤲

I started journaling in kindergarten before I could write. The teachers would ask us to dictate an answer to a journal prompt and would write what we shared in a composition book. One day I wanted to write my entry myself, and refused to put down my pencil to let the teacher finish my entry. I threw a fit when the teacher took the pencil out of my hand. That, and a love for Harriet the Spy, solidified my love of writing. My early childhood journals are filled with "MY BRUTHER IS STOOPID", "spy notes," and stories I never finished. But then I journaled my way through the isolation of middle school, losing my mother to cancer, realizing I was gay in high school, working my way through college, falling in love for the first time, and figuring out adulthood. I didn't journal consistently again until 2020. I've journaled pretty much every day for the past year. I filled 6 leuchturm notebooks in a year, and through journaling I have become my own best friend. As a kid people would kind of shame me for being that weird quiet kid with a journal, but now I think it's cool. It's a hobby, a passion, something I feel proud of and grateful for

Hey Jo, I’ve journaled in the past but when I read pages back I find that they are so negative. It’s like when people give restaurant reviews...most people write one when they’ve had a bad experience. Even now whenever I’m having a rough time I wish I was journaling...for the therapeutic aspect, like talking to someone. I’ve been told I’m a little negative by a couple of people around me as well. Do you, or anyone here, have any tips on recording the joys of life, and just seeing the positive. I do have things in my life that I’m truly grateful for and I would love to record it. Thanks in advance.

    • @halfmoonyogi4997

I think it's a matter of when you habitually reach for it. If you write at least a page a day, you'll capture the variety of emotions you feel, not just the negative moments. I definitely reach for my journal in negative moments, but I also LOVE reaching for my journal when I feel grateful! I love writing while people watching, noticing little moments or writing down jokes that are private or personal. I love writing about goals, dreams, planning out what steps i can take to get there, scripting, manifesting in my journal. For me that falls into the category of spiritual journaling. Maybe give it a try from that perspective? Also, don't judge the negative thoughts/moments you write about. It means you were getting it out of your head. If you write consistently enough, you'll notice the pattern of negative thinking as you write it and be able to use journaling to challenge the thinking and perspective.

I keep trying over the years to start journaling since many say how good it can be. I do believe it brings good things. But I always end up just doing it just around 2-3 days and then forgetting to do it. I can’t seem to get into it . Maybe someday I’ll get more into it 😊

      2-3 is greater than 0!
A counterintuitive saying has been really helpful for me: “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.”
It’s more important that I wipe down my bathroom sink than that I wait until I can deep clean the floorboards, and then when I go to do that there will be less work.
If your desire is a daily habit, start your goal at 3 days a week (which you just did! And you can always do more), and you can add more days as the muscle strengthens.
I have a history of all or nothing thinking, but one day is more than zero, etc.
      You got this!
