I 100% agree with not bringing Jemima Puddleduck to the vet. It was pretty clear from how bedraggled she was looking and how she was slowing down that the "problem" was just age. Every creature gets old and slows down and dies eventually. Jemima was just at that point in her life. I can see her in my minds eye, slowly waddling up to lay down in the cool shade of the permaculture orchard, and just relaxing and laying her head down and going to sleep. She had the kindest, most natural passing a duck could have. She felt safe and loved on your property. She got along with your flock, and she leaves behind an amazing and beautiful legacy. She has touched so many hearts in your videos and she will touch many more in your book. Jemima lived her best life, and while her passing is sad, there's a peace in it, too. RIP Jemima Puddleduck, and may you be reunited with your kin in there hereafter.
Shame she took herself far away from other flock and the family when she knew it was time 🥹I brought over 2 cats from California, one died in my arms age 19 and the other old lady at age 22 in 2021, she had a good day the day before she left us, I took a video n sent it to my bestie saying she's having a good day, I think this may be her last day, she insisted, don't take her to the vets I'm coming over tomorrow, she was sitting and chatting with my other half, I was working beside her till 6 pm, the old lady popped over half way in the hall and gave my bestie a nod, my bestie turned around and said she just popped over and went back in your room. I left my work desk n told my manager its time, I'm logging off, I went to my room and there she was gasping for air. It seemed like ages and I couldn't get ready quick enough, the 3 of us drove only 1 and half minute down the road and she stopped wriggling in my arms. It was a 45 minutes away to the vets, my bestie was panicking and saying to my other half drive faster, he looked at me in the rear view mirror and I said it's OK drive slow. He understood. Finally when we got there my bestie was still in a panicky mode and raced in and told the front desk, hurry she's not breathing, the girl looked in my eyes and I shook my head, she said hand her over and I'll have the vet confirm it. So they made her lie in a nice pose and said I can go in and spend as much time as I want. I was at peace knowing she had the best life. Reminded me of Morgan at the vets and they had Hershey's kisses in a jar and he asked isn't that bad for dogs, till the explained why they had them there, I felt a stab in my heart and I cried 😢 💔
Jemima Puddle Duck was not just an animal, but also a long time pet on the farm. Her loss will affect all those that got to know her. In memory of Jemima may you rest in peace.
The puddleducks will be forever missed. Much like eventually when it will be Ron Swansons time, hopefully not in the near future. On the side, I am glad you took Molly to the vet Morgan, those were pretty concerning health signs. Glad nothing ended up being wrong, but I don't think you could have forgiven yourself if you had ignored it and something seriously was wrong.
Cats are excellent at hiding illness so its better to be overly cautious and take them to get checked as soon as you see any behaviour changes, especially if they are not eating. You did the right thing taking Molly in to get checked and I'm glad she was ok. I'm so sorry for the loss of Jemima though, she will live on in our heart and be memorialized in the Toby dog book.
You did hte right thing taking Molly MM into the vet. Cats often go off and hide when they're seriously ill. You can't take chances! R.I.P. Jemima. You could follow up the Toby Dog book with one about the Puddleducks fitting in on the farm. I bet kids would love to read about ducklings born in a classroom who moved to your farm.
Dear friend, never apologize for emotion when it comes to you. It just affirms that you are human. That you are capable of loving and that you really do care for those you are responsible for. I'm 73 and a man and I cried during this video. Thank you so much for sharing the reality of farm life, both birth and death. Stay strong and know that we who follow this channel are behind you 100%. With love from Arizona.
Wasn’t it Gandalf who said, “I will not say, do not weep. For not all tears are an evil.” There is no shame in shedding tears for those who made your life special, whether they be human or animal.
As a new homesteader I appreciate you sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly with us even when it’s hard for you. Thank you for being vulnerable with people you’ve never met and allowing us to be on your journey with you.
I know this is a very sad situation, but in the end we will all pass away. And I think it's better to remember the good times and be happy that she passed of natural causes rather than having issues like the other ducks. She wasn't overweight or caught by a bobcat, she was just old and life took it's course. I'm happy she got to live a great life on your farm.
Thank you for sharing the whole Puddleduck story. The end of an era but thru your book and future books Jemima and her Puddleduck family will live on in the hearts of many.❤
Death is the natural culmination of life. I think it is wonderful to have allowed Jamima to have her end, out under the beautiful sky, into which her fat little duck soul could ascend. Death is sad for those of us which are left behind, because we miss the joys, which the departed brought to, and shared with us. Thank you for sharing your sensitivity with we, your audience. Thank you for keeping it real.
Morgan & Allison, I am so sorry about Jemima Puddle Duck. Your care and concern for your animals is precious. I know livestock is not going to live forever, but it is always sad when you lose ones with pet-like qualities. Glad Molly was cleared by the vet. Posting prior to watching the end. I love the way your honor the lives of the animals. As a hunter, I use everything on an animal I harvest. To honor it's life. Much Respect.
We have a puddle duck named Shirley. She's about five now and, like Jemima, I can see her age upon her. So many folks quip 'If you have livestock, you're gonna have deadstock'. While that is true, there are some really special ones I will always remember. RIP Jemima.
The pains our farming families suffer behind the scenes. Im sorry bout Molly! Ty for sharing the otherside of farming...the heartships and sacrifices along the way. Not to keen to hear her response from vet...do look into vaccines and effects incase youve chosen to covid your animals...as a retired med tech...i can say those are no gouda! Keep keepin on Morgan...many memories to come my friend! Hugs from above to all! GBYCS! You are an exceptional example of life living love!
We've had chickens for 19 years and we do our own vet work, too. Generally, veterinarians know little about chickens. We were so sad when my two 14 1/2 yr old hens died early this year, an Easter Egger and a true Ameraucana, just simple old age. Normally, my hens live to over 10 years. We lost the oldest lived large fowl rooster we ever had, my Barred Plymouth Rock, Atlas about 3 months ago. He was 9 years old, a very special guy. The oldest ever rooster was 11 years, a tiny Belgian D'Anver. So, when you've had animals that many years and you know them so well and love them and they've served the family in so many ways, it's truly a day of mourning when you lose one. I have two 12 yr old hens now that I expect won't be here much longer, but I am never so sad as when I lose one of my roosters. As a late friend of mine said, if roosters laid eggs, she'd have only roosters. They have my heart for their valiant protection and selflessness. Sorry about Mrs. Puddleduck, but I'm glad Molly is still kicking! ~Cynthia
Your puddle ducks were part of your early days as a farmer. You really have moved on on. New animals, new barn and a new season of life. You are making new memories every day.
As a long time pet owner I can relate, the lives of animals can chronicle our own lives over the years, they are woven into the fabric of our past experiences. I can remember details of the pets I grew up with, each one with unique personalities and traits and how they interacted with me and my family during their life, the memories are priceless.
Awe. If all farmers could be as humane as you and Allison, this world would be such a better place. All of your animals have a purpose. You take very good care of them. I'm so glad Molly is feeling better.
Just had to put my dog down earlier today. It hurts to lose something so close but giving them the best life and being apart of there life is the best thing u can do. There memories will remain forever ❤
Aww. This is so sad. Jemima was the reason I discovered your channel. And for that she always held a special place. Every time you would mention her or she pops up on camera I always took notice and paid extra attention. RIP Legend. You will be missed. 🕊
This one got me😢I'm truly sorry, Morgan. I do have to acknowledge that she lived a beautiful life, and there's something extremely emotional her passing in the open expanse on your farm.
This one made me cry. I’m so sorry Morgan. Even though life is fleeting, especially for animals and birds, it still breaks our heart when our fur and feather buddies die. I can’t wait to buy 2 or 3 of your new book. One for each of our families households.
I think she knew her time was coming. She left this world surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the farm. There’s something oddly comforting knowing she’s back with Samuel now. Needless to say I’m going to miss her very much.
My parents always told me if I'm eating meat I need to respect the life given for me to do so. They always gutted or prepared in front of me and said it was needed to understand. I don't eat as much meat but when I do I try and make conscious choices. Samuel was respected and cared for as were all the others.
I can imagine Jemima slowly waddeling over into a big pond, swimming over to join her husband and ducklings who has been waiting for her arrival. I've been here since the samson video so its strange seeing her go but atleast she's not alone anymore.
I rescued a jumbo pekin 6 years ago. His name was Douglas. He had an amazing personality and followed me everywhere. He passed away a couple weeks ago, from the high temps, but he was 7 years old. It’s been really hard. He became famous on my Facebook pages. So, I know how attached we can get. I’m going to name my duck runs, Douglasville, in his honor ❤️
Sad, but not unexpected. I know you’ve been preparing yourself for this. At least she passed naturally, of old age, in the peaceful pasture. I wonder if you buried here in the forest like you talked about before. She was a special duck, and the last one in her family to go. Thanks for informing us. Glad Molly is okay now. The impermanence of life is demonstrated so clearly in the seasons, lifespans and generational changes of the farm. Hope you feel better and things get easier soon!
Morgan, we all share your loss. Your loss is also our loss. This was a tearful video 😢 What a wonderful thing to capture a wonderful time on the farm thru the book. Can’t wait! ❤
The video on Samson was actually the one that lead me to this channel, which was put in my algorithm when I was looking up DuckTales clips three years ago and I stayed for the other animals. Was glad to see Jemima got to live a long happy duck life. May her memory be a blessing ❤
Condolences Morgan. The Puddleducks will be missed. Growing up on my grandfathers farm I totally get the cycle of life and how that cycle must include a food chain. I hope you and Molly are feeling better.
Jemima Puddle duck peacefully left life on her own terms. No putting down at the vet or at the butcher table. We will all eventually die, but we will miss the ones that we loved and who left an imprint on our hearts. ❤
Farm life is rewarding and emotional. You give your animals a great life. I loved seeing Jemima in your videos and All the animals when I watch your videos. It’s never easy losing an animal, especially when they become such an integral part of your life.
Morgan you gave Jemima such a good life! You could tell that she wanted to spare you the pain of watching her pass by going into the orchard where she has spent years of her happy life. Now she’s with the rest of the family.
I'm sure Samuel was there to help his love, Jemima, cross over the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈 They are happy together, once more and grateful for your consummate care.❤
I am so sorry for the loss of Jemima. You loved her so much. My thoughts are with you. I'm glad Molly is doing better. She might have caught a cold or some other illness for a bit. Cats tend to behave like you described when they are sick.
What a sad moment it must have been when you found her, of course when you started to cry I couldn't resist joining in. I've been with your channel for several years now, and I remember all the Puddleducks, so Rest In Peace Jamaima, we miss you already. So glad Molly is Ok, don't think I could have handled two in one video. Thanks Morgan for sharing both your affection for these animals and how you enjoy sharing stories about them. Take care and May you feel better soon. Thank you
Being raised on a farm, I am quite familiar with animal loss, but it always hurts (that's what makes you a good farmer....you care about all of your animals). Jemima was a good duck, a character, much more than just an animal on the farm, and she will always be a part of you. She lived a good life, and that's the best we can ask for. Thank you so much for sharing her with us.
Morgan, I have so much respect for you, both as a farmer and a person. You take your guardianship of your treasured animals to heart. And even though loss is part of the cycle of life, your kind heart will always feel the losses. I've been enjoying your videos and stories now for about a year, and I am choked up writing this. I had a small farm in the late 70's with chickens and pigs, and felt/feel just as much in love with them as my pets, which is why I stopped. Allison, too, has that kind heart and caring soul. No matter what anyone says, being a farmer does not mean that one has to unplug from the satisfying enjoyment that animals bring to our lives. Blessings to you two and all your farm creatures always!
No one should ever fault you for doing due diligence for your kitty. You put a lot of time and effort to produce a beloved, devoted, lovable, rodent killing farm worker, why wouldn’t you take her to the vet? Love you and Allison. 🥰🥰
All the Puddle Ducks are splashing around together again ❤ And if I didn't know Molly was fixed I would've assumed she went to have late season kittens.
Much of your video style is a form of oral storytelling...you are exceptional in your gift. Some animals grow closer to the heart and the puddleduck family clearly leave a legacy
I’m so sorry about Jemima Puddleduck Morgan! She was such a good girl on the farm and I always enjoyed seeing her waddle around. I hope you can find comfort knowing you gave her a full and loving life. All farmers could learn a lot from you on how to treat animals in a humane and loving manner. Our world would be a better place if they all did! ❤
You gave her a good, long life, and that's worth something. But I'll miss her presence in your videos. I'd always smile and say, "Jemima!" when I saw her. She stood out.
I feel this. I don't have fur kids or 2 legged kids of my own and over the years my siblings pets were my unofficial nieces and nephews. About a year back, I realized that none of the critters I would make a point to check in on during family visits were left. All the dogs, cats, horses, llamas and rabbits had lived out their life. What cut so deep was that meant no one was left who remembered our experiences together in my early adulthood. My siblings moved on with actual kid activities and the pets that actual seemed glad to see me were . . . over. Kinda breaks your heart
I have been watching your channel almost from the beginning. I am glad to have known Jemima through your channel. After hand feeding one of our chickens for the past week and then to have her die, even though she was on antibiotics, it is sad to lose the animals/pets we care for each day. I think it was James Herriot who said something about if the last thing they know is the kindness or touch of their owner, we have done our best for them. Maybe that is comforting to remember.
Taking Molly to the vet was reasonable based on her behavior. She didn't even fight getting put into the cat carrier. The vet's diagnosis of nothing wrong was great (I like Molly), but puzzling. I am happy to hear that she reappeared after the vet visit.
Maybe she'd just gotten over an illness or ate something that didn't agree with her. Day 1 of recovery from something like that you have no energy whatsoever 🤷
Definitely something worth keeping an eye on though, my cat had a similar situation and the vet I went to ran her normal tests and didn’t do full on panels, when I was under the impression they did the full panels, they missed the fact that her liver and pancreas were incredibly inflamed and sick. I went to a different vet for a second opinion and that’s when they found it. Cost me almost $5k to get her back to normal health after she almost died. The old vet also just straight up lied to me and said she had severe kidney disease and was going to need weekly fluids, the other vet said her kidneys were mostly fine other than the numbers being slightly elevated, and they theorize that it was probably because her other organs were so bad
I’ve had lots of cat owners tell me that behavior changes are more often than not an indicator of something is wrong, so Morgan did the right thing by having Molly checked out. Better safe than sorry.
R.I.P Jemima! Morgan, I am SO sorry for your loss. The loss of a beloved animal is a pain I'd never wish on even my worst enemy. I feel like our animals have a way of letting us know when it's their time. If you had that feeling, it was time. She will be missed and thank you for sharing her with us. Glad to hear MMM is doing better and flashlight is on the mend!
Molly has gotten older, there is another cat that took her place in the pecking order. That’s why she is getting more feral, the other cat is around someplace not letting her eat in peace come food time. Or, it’s her outdoor life. Sometimes an outdoor cat only lives half as long as an inside cat. Sorry if that’s the case.
Morgan, thank you for sharing Jemima Puddleduck's story. Her legacy lives on through your videos and you gave her the best life possible at Gold Shaw Farm.
So sorry for your loss. It's always been obvious that Jemima had a special place in your heart. It's sad that her time came, but take comfort in the fact that you allowed her to live her best life
Sorry for your loss Morgan. I always hope that sharing your ups and downs with us, is a good way for you to process it all. Knowing its much easier for you to talk to a camera than real life people...know that I do see you and I hear you. Always happy to listen to you. Hope you will feel better soon (physically and emotionally). You are a very interesting man.
Rest in peace Jemima. She did live a good and happy life. When it comes to livestock that lives very freely around the place, taking them to a vet is just going to stress them out. She was clearly old, not sick with something. It was best that she got to go peacefully. Very glad Molly is fine. Usually such a drastic change is a sign something is wrong, byt I guess sometimes cats just have an off day, or a few.
Oh my I ‘be missed you for a few months. It was REALLY COLD and you were working on the barn addition. I missed a ton but you are the one that got me into watching farm/sanctuary videos. I am so sorry around the illness on the farm. My first look at you was OH MY HE IS REALLY ILL! But alas I hope I have not missed anything and hope it is weight loss and recent illness that has changed your appearance. It is soooo tough to lose an animal (pet, friend , or feathered companion) whatever they are, memories come with them. Thank you for sharing and believe it or not I share your losses. Hang in there and take care of yourselves. Peace be with you snd the fur babes.
My condolences on the loss of Jemima Puddleduck, Morgan; from what I have seen in your videos, she had a long and happy life on your farm, and she is now reunited with her husband and family, swimming in the sky.❤
I'm dealing with grief at the moment, too, and the way you talked about memories and remembering everything was very beautiful. Just looked at photos of my passing relative with my family today. I'm so grateful we have ways to remember our loved ones even better than just through our own memories.
Wow, can't believe it was 5 years ago that we got introduced to the puddle ducks! She was a very lucky duck that got to life for such a long time in such green pastures! 🥰
Rest in peace, Jemima. She was one of the matriarch of the farm. There is no doubt about it. She had a great life. She was well cared, for. She was well fed. She was sheltered for the elements. Obviously, when Toby appeared from then on, she had round-the-clock security. For a brief doc, which is usually turned on to meet, she had a long and productive life. She saw Morgan from being a rocky, former to being somebody who is a hell of a lot more competent, but he thinks he is. As for Molly. I wonder if she caught a bug or something it sounds like she may be eaten something something which had given her a dicky tummy so she didn’t feel well. I’m glad she’s feeling better. Obviously she will have had her full set of vaccinations which is a massive help. She’s also not having kittens every five minutes because she’s been sterilised. So she certainly will have a long innings at the farm. One thing which is very amusing is comparing Morgan’s cattle from when he got them when they were virtually feral to now coming as they’re called. I hope Abby is feeling better.
The puddleduck family is reunited In heaven R.I.P Jemima
quackquackquackquack!

Same advice my dad gave me when my 1st cat died.
Never thought I'd be crying about a duck I'd never met before but here we are. She lived a happy life at Gold Shaw that's for sure.
RIP Jemima Duck! You lived a very good life and were loved!❤️

how amazing that you honored your duck by making a feast for friends out of it - the old ways

The little toss of Ginny right at the end, to her own food, is the most relatable cat owner thing ever

Warms my heart that you love your animals so much. I had a Peking named Howard that lived 9 yrs . He was definitely a part of the family and missed.
So glad all is well with Molly Murder Mittens. She is an amazing kitty. 🤗🥰❣️
I think she knew her time was coming. She left this world surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the farm. There’s something oddly comforting knowing she’s back with Samuel now. Needless to say I’m going to miss her very much.
i got all choked up & tearful for the first tyme ever watching gold shaw farm videos ~
the charming big white dear puddle duck ~
RIP Jemima. She had a great life and enjoyed her final years on the farm and at the end of the day that’s what really matters
You can't cure old age. RIP Jemima! The Puddleducks are together again.
Morgan, we all share your loss. Your loss is also our loss. This was a tearful video 😢 What a wonderful thing to capture a wonderful time on the farm thru the book. Can’t wait! ❤
Jemima will always be in our hearts. You gave her a wonderful life.
The video on Samson was actually the one that lead me to this channel, which was put in my algorithm when I was looking up DuckTales clips three years ago and I stayed for the other animals. Was glad to see Jemima got to live a long happy duck life.
May her memory be a blessing ❤
My condolences on your loss. You gave all of the Puddleduck Family a beautiful life. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜♥️
RIP Jemima ❤ I love your storytelling Morgan, where you tell a story from the farm while doing your daily shores. I love watching that.
YOU ARE A GOOD FARMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you did the best you could and is still going!
That's a nice sign! I'm sorry for your loss, that was a special duck. Being around the animals will make you feel better.
Molly is known for killing and eating a lot of rodents, etc, so I suspect she got a sick one.
I love in these most recent videos its clear your cows have built an association between you hollering and good things/fresh food.
What a beautiful story. She lived a perfect duck life... farm life. She knew she was loved and appreciated. Rest In Peace Miss Puddle Duck❤
Shed a tear or two over this one. Thank you for the thoughtful video.
Great video Morgan. It reminds us all of the passing of time and to make every day the best you possibly can.
No one should ever fault you for doing due diligence for your kitty. You put a lot of time and effort to produce a beloved, devoted, lovable, rodent killing farm worker, why wouldn’t you take her to the vet? Love you and Allison. 🥰🥰
All the Puddle Ducks are splashing around together again ❤
And if I didn't know Molly was fixed I would've assumed she went to have late season kittens.
Thank goodness Molly Murder Mittens is okay, R.I.P Jemima Puddleduck. All my thoughts to you both Morgan and Allison during this time.❤
Much of your video style is a form of oral storytelling...you are exceptional in your gift. Some animals grow closer to the heart and the puddleduck family clearly leave a legacy
When I said I was waiting for more duck content, this wasn’t what I was hoping for. I’m sorry for the loss Morgan.
Sorry to hear about Jemima crossing the rainbow bridge, they were all sweet. I'm very glad Molly is feeling better!
RIP, Jemima Puddleduck. Your determined, tipsy waddle will live on in our memories forever.
So sorry for your loss. I’m happy to know you gave them a great life ❤
I love your channel and reading everyone's comments. RIP to the loved ones through the journey
I teared up just seeing the title of the video pop up. I hope you remember her fondly and that sharing the grief with all of us helps. ❤
🙏 ❤Morgan my farm kitty passed away last week, we miss him dearly
Taking Molly to the vet was reasonable based on her behavior. She didn't even fight getting put into the cat carrier.
The vet's diagnosis of nothing wrong was great (I like Molly), but puzzling. I am happy to hear that she reappeared after the vet visit.
Maybe she'd just gotten over an illness or ate something that didn't agree with her. Day 1 of recovery from something like that you have no energy whatsoever 🤷
@@technicaldifficulties368 She could've also been upset about Jemima.
ohhh thats possible too, instincts to get away so they dont spread it@@technicaldifficulties368
You're doing a great job, you can feel deeply and miss your animals even they are bred for food.
Rest in peace, sweet Jemima. 💜
{{HUGS}} you have such a kind heart. I’m so sorry for your loss. Love you and Alison and your farm family ❤️
She passed on her terms. She passed looking at all the beauty of nature and her home. I think she was ready to go.
Hugs. Your sensitivity brings so much to your channel. Thanks for being willing to be vulnerable.
Mortality: part of the nature of this existence. You're a lovely human, Morgan. Thank you for sharing the memories.
Morgan, thank you for sharing Jemima Puddleduck's story. Her legacy lives on through your videos and you gave her the best life possible at Gold Shaw Farm.
You brought back memories of all the pets I've loved and lost. Writing this with tears in my eyes. I feel your loss.
As long as you keep them in your heart they are never really gone and besides, she is immortalized in Toby's book.
Sad to see Jemima pass forward but memories of her will be everlasting and never forgotten.
Never really thought about it like that, pass forward, I like it. Ty
Great video‼️ Takes time to compile and produce …and we appreciate your time and energy. Always a good storyteller with compassion.
R.I.P Jemima, she got to live her best duck life and now will live on in the memories of us who watched her
My condolences on the loss of Jemima Puddleduck, Morgan; from what I have seen in your videos, she had a long and happy life on your farm, and she is now reunited with her husband and family, swimming in the sky.❤
Morgan, your farm animals are your children, you treat them well.
