- SHREK MOVIE REACTION! Time to check out our favourite Green Ogre. Finally seeing the 3rd and 4th installments and sharing these with malbread. Here's our Shrek reaction. Watch the ENTIRE Movie with me? Check out: / timotheereacts
Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to save their home -- not to mention his -- Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) to be Farquaad's bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

Here's how I rank the Shrek movies: Shrek 2 is the best, next is Shrek 4, then Shrek 3, & Shrek 1 is last. I know a lot of people say Shrek 3 is the worst, but Shrek comes off as too unlikable throughout most of the 1st movie & I feel Lord Farquad isn't as great of a villain when compared to the others.
Pofavol reacciona a la serie de Dinotrux.
Soy un fan de las películas de shrek 1 2 3 4
You should post video kil bill vol 1
The onions to ogres analogy is even more true when Donkey said that not everyone likes onions because not everyone likes ogres either 😊🩷
RIP Steve Harwell, you truly did break the mold. What I love most about this movie, is that the entire film was meant to be one giant roast of Disney in general. eg. Farquaad looks like Michael Eisner, Dulock is basically Disneyland, fairytale tropes are challenged or outright reversed, and pop songs are used in place of original works in a musical.
In a sense, Shrek is basically like an anti-fairy tale genre, especially with an Ogre being the main lead who gets the girl while the Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother are the villains.
In a similar sense, Megamind would be an anti-superhero genre, as it also focuses on who is typically the villain and flips it on its head.
Also, fun fact about the All Star song, it was first used for the film Mystery Men, would recommended it for anyone to see it.
Disneys Florida studio, which for a long time was a backup animation studio that did work the main Burbank studio didn't have time for.
Then in 1996 Disney decided to focus all their energy on transitioning to 3D animation, acquired Pixar and started working on A Bug's Life.
They basically told the Florida studio (their only remaining full-time 2D animation studio) they could do whatever movies they wanted.
And the Florida studio, for the first time, got to produce feature films:
• Mulan (1998)
• Tarzan (1999)
•John Henry (2000)
• The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
• Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
• Lilo & Stitch (2002)
• Brother Bear (2003)
Then in 2004 Disney decided to stop producing 2-D feature films altogether, closed down the Florida studio and laid off all the animators.
Many of whom then got hired by Dreamworks.
It's like a middle finger to Disney.
Same RIP Steve Harwell
Shrek is basically an anti-fairy tale genre, where turns over on all the typical cliches. In a similar sense, Megamind would be anti-superhero genre.
It probably inspired the 'Forever Never After' movies.
I don't know if "anti" is the right word. I'd call it satire.
I love the bit where Shrek and Donkey are making fun of Lord Farquaad.
Shrek: Let me put it to ya this way, Princess. Men of Farquaad's stature are in SHORT supply.
Donkey chuckles- I don't know, Shrek. There ARE those who think LITTLE of him.
😁😅😂🤣☠
Also, RIP Steve Harwell
They wouldn’t have been able to see how short he was so I think they’re fun of Farquaad’s junk.
@@Powerranger-le4up It's likely left over from an early draft where they did meet him face to face.
But they did miss a bet when, in response to her "you could never measure up to Lord Farquaad", they failed to reply "I think that very few people actually measure UP to him!" 😄
The thing about Shrek is, it wasn’t just an intentional jab at Disney, then-CEO Michael Eisner (whom Lord Farquaad is modeled after), or challenging fairy tale tropes. It’s meant to show not all fairy tales are meant to follow all these tropes traditionally in any way.
Not to mention the fact that original author William Steig gave DreamWorks’ take on his book his full stamp of approval! He saw the film for himself and loved it before he passed in 2003.
Ah yes, the film that put DreamWorks Animation on the map! Shrek is easily one of the most important animated films ever and it's easy to see why. There was no other film like this when it came out. This was a giant middle finger to Disney coming from the film's use of satire towards fairy tale stories. Also, the adult humor is just so hilarious.
It also changed animation for the better and worse
Disney's Florida studio, which for a long time was a backup animation studio that did work the main Burbank studio didn't have time for.

@@videohistory722they didn’t acquire Pixar until Cars in 2006
I love that the theme from this movie has basically become the DreamWorks theme.
The film that made Dreamworks famous!
Antonio Banderas makes a good Puss In Boots. Even though Puss doesn’t appear in the first Shrek movie, Antonio did a fantastic job playing him! Nobody does it better than him.
R.I.P Steve Harwell from Smash Mouth (1967-2023)
Took me longer than needed to realize "it sure is big, but look at the location" was a real estate joke
Took me too long to realize how much Farquaad sounds like f*ckwad lol
‘Shrek’ is basically the Hollywood version of Pantomime. The Brits were way ahead in that art form.
I love Eddie Murphy as Donkey. He's my favorite.
Fiona’s belch was a complete accident while Diaz was recording and Murphy then adlibbed Donkey’s next line in reaction to it.
The books author originally didn't want the film made because he was worried they would sanitize it and take out all the disgusting stuff.
So he was absolutely thrilled to discover they made it even more disgusting.
in the end, he really praised the adaptation
Thanks William Steig for making the book and thanks DreamWorks for making this masterpiece.
Yup. William Steig gave his full stamp of approval before he passed in 2003.
Rest in peace to Steve Harwell!
Smash Mouth for life!
He will be missed in a loving memory.
We lost a legend. 😔😔😔😔
It’s Cameron Diaz and her comic timing for me. One comedy classic after another in the ‘90s and 2000s.
Ironically the voice of "Farquaad" John Lithgow is actually over six feet tall🤣
Shrek also has a Christmas special and a few Halloween ones, one of which they go back to Duloc to tell scary stories.
I would’ve torched the whole info booth with the puppets just to not listen to that inferno song alone.
20:23 "Is that a recipe book ... for the dragon?"
I hate to be the one to bring this up, but did you ever wonder what Fiona ate all the years she was in the tower?
I mean she was locked in just the tower, so don't try to make any theories
I thought Shrek was referring to Lord Faarquad’s height due to how tall his castle is 😳
That's what makes this joke so great. It has a G-rated and an M-rated interpretation, so kids and adults get to share the joke.
That's intentional, it's the kid-friendly interpretation. It's the standard "family movie" technique: Jokes that work on two levels, one that's appropriate for kids and one that the adults will get.
2:46 no Tim
Not a free hot tub
More like a free *Jacuzzi* in his backyard
This one is going to be one of my fall asleep to videos in the future. Both of you provide that sort of chill vibe.
Oh man whoever directed this movie is a legend. I just love how I grew up with this, so good and classic. Hope to see more in the future😇😎🙌🏾
R.I.P Steve Harwell, we'll remember you 😢
RIP STEVE HARWELL.😢😔🪦 The fact that dreamworks made this with a lot of adult jokes in a kids movie wild to me. All of these flew over my head as a kid.😅
Shrek is goated Tim, definitely 1 of the best from Dreamworks, i hope you will react to them all
Yes all of them!
@@TimotheeReactsAt least with MalBread especially!
@@TimotheeReactsNot to mention, you haven't watched 3 and 4 with Angelina for a while apart from the first two with her
@@Andre-kb2eg Yeah, apparently, she lost interest now and wants to focus on her own stuff.
One of my favorite childhood classic movies 🎥
Me too.
And Shrek 2 is even better
This is definitely a great Dreamworks movie. I remember having it on DVD with two of its sequels. Not only it has great actors such as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, but it also has some good adult jokes that you wouldn’t really see much in an animated PG movie today. This is definitely an animated movie I would recommend.
2:22 Did you know that originally it was supposed to open with an original song. They put All Star as a backup. The test audience loved it so much that DreamWorks asked them to sing I’m a Believer at the end
There's a Mandela effect which occurs when Donkey says, "I've bet you've seen a House Fly, maybe even a (BLANK) Fly, but I bet you ain't ever seen, a Donkey Fly", I remember him saying "Horse Fly" before Donkey Fly, making for a hilarious pun joke, but now, its been changed to "Super Fly" which doesn't make sense at all. I've even done a v ideo about it a while ago.
Shrek is one of the greatest animated movies ever!! Classic and nostalgic!! RIP to Steve Harwell!! Also Happy Thanksgiving to y'all!!!
Gotta ask you Tim. Now that you’ve seen the first Shrek, what do you think of the legacy it left behind in the years that followed? Many DreamWorks films and non-DreamWorks films used its humor and irreverence as the basis for their own animated productions.
R.I.P. Steve Harwell, Lead vocalist of Smash Mouth, for giving us All Star and I'm a Believer, two banger songs of the 2000s. Shrek is a masterpiece that's also has been an icon during the 2000s. I hope we get reactions to all the sequels, Tim. ^_^
28:35 MATRIX REFERENCE, ACTIVATE!
Lord Farquaad wasn't scary. Rather, he's damn hilarious. 😂
35:56 well you gotta remember that Farquad wants to be king so the sooner he marries a princess the sooner he gets to be king.
Shrek 1 is such an iconic animated film as the voices are iconic, the characters are iconic and the music is fantastic. Loved the muffin man scene😂👍. Looking forward to you guys reacting to Shrek 2 and the other movies as well. Take care, enjoy life, stay healthy and have a good one
when you look carefully, entire film and franchise is more or less big middle finger to Disney and this is why I love franchise, even third one is not up to first films and last one is... Sequel of this film is amazing. Best in franchise with Puss in boots and Last Wish.
"Some of you may die, but that is sacrifice I am willing to make" - Spoken like true Disney CEO.
My favourite moments of the films are:
THE ALLSTAR opening, Shrek meets Donkey, Shrek and Donkey vs Knights, the 'I'M ON MY WAY' sequence, Shrek rescues Fiona, Fiona vs Robin Hood, Shrek and Donkey flying Dragona, Farquadd death, Shrek and Fiona first kiss and their wedding. Basically, everything of the movie I love.
Always love watching your reactions, especially to old classics such as Shrek.
Shrek. One of my favourite films of 2001. The year I was born.
Boy I definitely did not know what that “compensating” and wipe your …face” jokes meant when I saw the film first as a kid. Those guys were bold.
This movie is my childhood, i still remember when i got scared of Shrek roaring at the ogre hunters , but still, it was a nice childhood memory nonetheless
I remember when Shrek came out on DVD and i saw it with my brother at a friends house. I was 10 years old. It was the perfect movie and life could not get better. Shrek was truly peak hollywood for kids man. It was a time were every year we were more excited than the last one for how good the movies were going to be and we had Harry potter, we had Nemo, Spongebob movies, we got Aladin, Treasure Island, we got the big 3 of anime, we got Lilo and Stitch, we got the first seasons of pokemon, Digimon, YuGiOh and Dragon ball Z. It was PERFECT, PERFECT! I pity the kids today having to deal with woke holywood.
MY GOD
I NEVER REALIZED THE BIT ABOUT THE MAMA BEAR BEING MISSING FROM THE SWAMP
I noticed that but not where she ended
You guys did an awesome job reacting to this! If you wish to there’s a filmed version of the actual stage musical. It gives you more details about Shrek, Fiona, and Farquad’s backstory. There’s even a song for Dragon. And if you like these kind of movies may I recommend Penelope. Stars Christina Ricci, Catherine O’Hara, Peter Dinkleberg, Reese Witherspoon, and more. And here’s a fun fact; it is actually revealed that in the sequel they were going to give the dragon a name but they cut it. The intended name was Elizabeth. 💚
Happy Thanksgiving!
I love adult humor in kid movies because you watch the movie for the first time as a kid and don’t understand and of the jokes then you grow up and it’s like unlocking bonus content and it makes the movie even better with age
happy thanksgiving tim this is my fave og pixar movie
Definitely top 5 in animated DreamWorks films
Definitely!
Yes 👍🏾 shrek has return in this channel glad you watch this again can’t wait for the other shrek movies also RIP Steve harwell
Yes cant wait too! Finally doing 3 and 4
The original ending had an extra bit with Farquad singing "Staying Alive" from inside dragon. That part got removed from the digital copy of the movie.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone hope y'all had a wonderful and safe thanksgiving 🦃
So happy that you Tim are rewatching these movies with MalBrad it's so fun, also last night I watched the 3rd Trolls movie so I hope you can do a movie reaction to it very soon since you've already watched the 1st and 2nd Trolls movies 😁🤞🏻💕🎥
My little sister's nickname became Donkey exactly because of this movie. For the reasons you would think as well.
Is it cuz she's so talkative and annoying 😂
@@dgrmn12345 Yes. Exactly :3 And it's been that way for the past 20 or so years.
The soundtracks used for these movies are just chef's kiss!! 😘😘
This movie is so much darker than you think at first view... I mean, the mommy-bear turns into a freakin' rug ☹☹
Did you know Shrek was going to be played by Chris Farley, and Chris Farley had some voicecasting of early Shrek before Chris po assed away
Enjoyed it as always!!! 💚
Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life ❤
Shrek is the greatest franchise in Hollywood
Of course, buddy.
And according to the spell, this is accurate 😁 because it's taking true love form had she fallen in love with a person she would have transformed into one herself but because Shrek is and orge that the form she takes
For a movie that is over 20 years old it is amazing.
Yeah it’s really messed up how Farquaad turned mama bear into a rug
she didn’t do anything to you, dude
I really really love Shrek. It's the first movie in my life, it's the best movie I have ever seen.
Great to see you restart this with Malbread. Keep up the good work
Watched 1/2 before. This time will be doing all 4 movies with her!
To think Chris Farley would have been a perfect voice actor for Shrek if he were alive.
4:01 Seven to the Dwarf-lords: Great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls.
Btw, as a gamer, I relate to the quote: "I'm already on a quest" waaaaay too much 😅
i love youre edit on prince charming in the second one
37:34 He looks like me at 27.
Shrek is my favourite movie of all times.
Originally in early development of the first film they did use different actors to voice Shrek like they Bill Murray and Nicolas cage to voice and in around 1995 or around 1996 they did use Chris Farley as there choice but sadly he tragically passed away and they replaced him with Mike Myers as the final choice even when Jeffrey Katzenberg look at some animation to Chris Farley version he didn’t like it it wasn’t funny so he decided to change the story and Fiona was originally going to be voice by Janeane Garofalo but since Chris Farley died they replaced her with Cameron Diaz as the final voice for the final product
and Nicolas Cage later became the voice of Grug in The Croods 1 and 2.
Shrek is love, Shrek is life!!! 😍😍😍 the second one is my favorite!!!
Awesome reaction of my favorite Shrek movie!!!!
17:50 Of course he reads, it was the very first scene in the film lol.
A timeless classic, with a perfect sequel.
Happy Thanksgiving yo🦃🍁🍽🍁🦃
Same to you!
21:00 "The ogre's *butt!"*
...why do multiple movies exist where that's applicable...?
Before Shrek, the All Star song was first used in the film Mystery Men, highly recommended it. Even the official song shows clips from that film. It’s also a funny take on a superhero story, plus it has Ben Stiller.
Happy Thanksgiving Tim & Malbread🦃
41:06
Except the mama bear
:(
I really like this one, it is a classic one and the best movie in my opinion❤❤💯💯
shrek is so iconic!
3:23 Classic 😂😂
There's one scene that you and her should see it. It's call Shrek in the swamp karaoke dance party.
23:52-24:14 love all the short jokes 😂😂
HAKUNA MATATA Shrek & Donkey
R.I.P Steve
26:47-26:54 omg what if it was the dragon 😂😂
22:26-22:32 i've always wondered that
Rest in peace Steve harwell 🕊️
Man, I'd kill to see them do a video for "Grumpy Old Men" (1993), Popcorn in bed and Rob Squad movie reactions just uploaded reactions to it back-to-back, I can't believe it isn't trending in the movie reaction/commentary community.
How could you NOT show "NOT my gumdrop buttons!!!"
I never understood why Gingy was so afraid about that
malbread should watch the mask with jim carrey with you
38:39 i used that phrase when i was un middle school when i had a crush on a girl thats not only pretty but also very sweet, but i never tell her that i liked her,oh well
I think Shrek marked a before and after at DreamWorks his most recognized film it's always nice to see It's iconic
That scene when Donkey sings that song about having no friends... I don't know if I'm hallucinating or not, but I definitely don't remember any background music there when I watched Shrek in theaters, neither on a Shrek DVD I had when I was a kid. Did they add it later in digital version or I just never noticed it?
I had no idea Steve Harwell died 😭
