Would love to see more in depth reviews of the High Republic content. Always enjoy listening to your post episode discussions for shows and would be great to get something like that.
I'm about 100 pages into it and so far I'm starting to get a little worn down by the relentless grimdark feel. I know that'll change, but it's something Star Wars books have struggled with ever since the New Jedi Order. But I absolutely love the characters and the Russian novel approach to them. And now that I know that both Porter Engle and Avar Kriss are stuck in the Occlusion Zone, I'm thinking it's gonna be a case of the Watchmen line "I'm not locked in here with you -- you're locked in here with me!"
I'm REALLY enjoying The Eye of Darkness. I loved Phase 2, I think it has some of the best THR books thus far. But seeing back all these characters with such excellent writing is wonderful.
So excited for this one. I've had similar overall thoughts on the first two phases, but the way Shadows of Starlight started to pull it all together left me so amped to get back to the novels
Can you do a video with a recommended reading order? With the flood of content it is a bit of a struggle finding a good spot to dive into the books for the first time.
You should do a video about what of phase 2 ties directly into phase 3. I skipped phase 2 because I didn't think it would tie enough into nihil storyline enough to satisfy me.
Phase I and 2 of the adult novels of the High Republic are the big main ones that Ive read and enjoyed. Stick with them anyway to get the gist of whats going to go on in Eyes of Darkness pretty much

Im about to start Light of the Jedi and read through the main novels. With the start of phase 3 and Young Jedi Adventures returning with greater connective tissue to this era, HR fans are eating good this month.
i just ordered my first set of high republic books so im ready to dive into the high republic era for the first time since i played jedi survivor which it got me really interested in the high republic era with the introduction of dagan gera in jedi survivor
Your reactions and reviews are always identical to my thoughts, such a great era of Star Wars, I skipped phase 2 because I couldn’t stop thinking about phase 1
As a big fan of THR so far, there is only one thing I find hard is how much, in phase 1 and 3, the republic and the Jedi are losing one big fight after an other, it feels like watching the empire strikes back for 7 books in a row. I don't think it feels un earned, Marchion is a pretty smart vilain and while I wasn't sure about the nihil in the beginning I think they've turned out to be good pawn like vilain for the main bad guy. But for every skirmish with 5 nihils a Jedi manage to come out on top of the nihils score massive victories! I get the republic cannot win too hard until it's time to destroy the proverbial death star or else the stakes stop rising but I still found it a little exhausting at time how every thing they try fail. Maybe most star wars book are like that and I'm just not used to an entire series being an emotional gut punch.
So what book begins the high republic? Is there a chronological list somewhere we can follow? This looks good to start with but I want to jump in at the beginning. Thanks.
I wonder what happened to make the Jedi be the state that they are in Star Wars 1. I think the Starlight Beacon’s destruction had a hand in that and something else just twisted the knife to make the Jedi complacent.
@@splatoonistproductions5345 if you want to get into Phase 3 as soon as possible, the YA books “Path of Deceit” and “Path of Vengeance” (in that order) are the most important books in Phase 2 for setting up the Nihil backstory and tying into Phase 3. The Adult books in Phase 2 are way more contained and follow a different storyline. So you can hold off on them until you catch up if you want.
There are 6 novels and several comic series in Phase 2. If you only want the very basic storyline that specifically connects to Phase 1, I'd recommend the novels Path of Deception, Battle of Jedha (audio drama) and Path of Vengeance. You're still going to find yourself looking up certain things on the wookiepedia though, since all the stories refer to the others at one point. I also recommend Youtini's summaries on YT if you wanna skip reading certain media and still get the gist of those stories

You should still read phase two eventually it has a lot of fun stories
Probably later down the line once more P3 stories come out and this start to come together.
P2 is better than P1 imo. Tight storytelling
Phase II lays a lot of the groundwork for the Nihil, especially in Path of Deceit and Path of Vengeance.
