I'm a huge fan of audio dramas! I'll pick this up at some point, when I get round to it. Most of the audio dramas I have are Doctor Who related, by Big Finish and BBV Productions. But I do have a few Star Wars ones, like Crimson Empire and the radio adaptations of the original trilogy. I've even got Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell, which was released in 1983 on vinyl and cassette. Beyond that, I've got two fan made audios of Indiana Jones, the Well of Life and the Bridge to Yesterday. I've got lots of other different audio dramas, but it'll take me forever just to name them all.
The Star Wars audio production is unparalleled. But I’m glad to hear you had to rewind a few times too. I would lose track on occasion of who was talking or where characters were. I feel like I got about 75% of the story. I would love a good summery to solidify the points of the story that I need to know for future books.
Silandra Sho stole the show!!! Loved her arc in this story. But im also the same way with the audio dramas. I love the experience but I enjoyed this just as much as Tempest Runner even if Runner didn't impact things a lot. But yeah the characters here were wonderful, it was thrilling and the connections with the Path were really interesting.
As a big finish listener I might give star wars audios a listen if they're fully casted. As for keeping focus, I tend to write or draw or play with lego or play swtor while listening so that I'm not just sitting and listening.
It's good, but so far i think Big Finish still has a leg up on Audible when it comes to quality. You'll also appreciate some of the Doctor Who references George Mann sprinkles into the story.
@@tomrankin13 when it comes to big finish they do have decades of experience, so that doesn't surprise me. I'll listen out for the references when I listen to it.
@@charlestownsend9280 oh, absolutely. Odd as it may be, though, i just love how this much smaller company is better at dramas than the biggest name in audiobooks. Haha.
Hopefully this makes the Q & A Saturday. Of all the epic monologues we had in Andor season 1. Do you think Mon Mothma's monologue, which we seem destined to get, will be the most epic of them all?
I wonder if the Battle of Jedha will be very connected to the main High Republic comic series. As far as I know, the main characters of the comic series, Ty, Matty and Vildar, don't appear in the audiobook, at least not in the casting of the audiobook that was revealed some weeks ago. And I don't think I will listen to the Battle of Jedha in the next weeks because I've only read Path of Deceit so far (planning on starting Convergence this week). Could I keep up to date with the comic series although I haven't listened to the audiobook without getting lost or spoiled?
I haven't read any of Phase 2 yet, and will be driving home the next few days. Do I need to have read the other two novels for context before listening to the Battle of Jedha?
I think so. Path of Deceit serves as an introduction to the Path of the Open Hand, who appear to have a heavy presence in the audiobook. And the Battle of Jedha picks up directly after Convergence.
@@nicolassanchez9803 Thanks! I was afraid of that. I really want to read those books. Just don't have them yet, and I am still working on finishing Midnight Horizon. I guess I'll keep listening to podcasts this trip.
Do you think we can start with the phase 2 books? I have convergence and deceit so I have been thinking of starting there while I am missing one or two phase 1 books.
they are prequels to phase one, so absolutly! the main benefit to reading phase one is just getting a sense of the time period, but with phase two set 150 years beforehand even that is different. very few characters cross over (mainly yoda.) and story elements are completely different.
My biggest issue with THR is that you need to read every book/comic and listen to every audio drama to get the full story I love THR, but it's hard to enjoy because unless you do all that, all you get is snippets of it
If you only read de comics and the three adult novels of phase 1 you can get the general of it. The other are just spin off minor stories that does not impact at all. At the beginning I was reading everything, but after rising storm I noticed that it's not necessary and I'm accompanying it easily now. For the second phase I'm only reading path of deceit and the comics. In future path of vengeance and its done. No need to read it all. Only if you care for stories of background characters that will make some special participations at the principal line of titles.
I always double dip on these audio stories, cause I end up buying & reading the scriptbook & then I buy the audioook & reread it while listening... Always worth it tho. 😎
I am not a fan of audio books/dramas so I waited till the book version came out. I did enjoy the storyline and found the various force groups involved interesting. That might be my biggest complaint though. I would of loved if the story had focused a lot more on those groups instead of making them groups more background actors in the story
This was so good. It’s actually my first audiobook ever. One thing tho, Master Sun’s VA Raphael Corkhill sounds almost exactly like Ewan McGregor’s Obi Wan. Every time he spoke I imagined it was Obi Wan and it was distracting at time.
I have a really hard time reading the scripts, which is disappointing because everybody says "Dooku: Jedi Lost" is incredible, but I could barely get thru it 🤔 I'm starting "The Battle of Jedha" today 🤞
For me, I usually listen to the audiobooks of Star Wars books, and I was able to pay closer attention to the audio drama format when compared to the audiobook format. There were a lot of gripping intense moments and the cast did TERRIFIC. I felt like I was watching a movie with how well the voice actors did and the sound effects.
listening to this video, I would say no. if its about the battle of jedha, at the very least convergence (the adult novel) sets up ALOT of the story and the 'why' for the battle. aka it ads much needed context according to Alex I im hearing correctly.
big difference is movies leave out details in the audio so you miss things, whereas audio dramas are designed with audio only in mind. sound effects are exaggerated, speaking lines are easier to hear, and more things are described rather than shown. (cus they can't be shown 🤪) if your JUST listening to an audio drama it can get boring, but doing the dishes, vacuuming, laundry etc are great activities to accompany this format of storytelling. an activity to keep you busy but not mentally preoccupied.
@@JediSentinal Don't worry, I wasn't serious about that comment (never expected such a long response BTW ^^). It just clashed a bit with the promo for a certain service

Yeah, I definitely enjoy Audio Dramas too. Especially Doctor Who ones, so I am excited whenever there is a new Star Wars one.
Actually listening to it right now.
Pretty hype to get a story and Bad Batch so quickly this year.
Thanks for the video fam!

Does anyone know when we are getting the Mando season 3 official trailer?

You can read up to the most recently released issue with no spoilers - 2 issues time it will connect with the Battle of Jedha so be wary there
Thank you for the review. I was thinking of getting the audible version, but I decided to wait for the book (I would rather read the book).
Being a Doctor Who fan, I'm always down for an Audio Drama!
Is it related to the convergence book listening to now is it after convergence time line wise ? Thanks
It does take place after Convergence.
Definitely read or listen to Convergence before The Battle of Jedha.

Makes me happy Star Wars is going Audio Drama. I love what Doctor Who did with telling stories in Audio, i'm excited for Star Wars to do this.

Honestly am so far preferring phase 1 but am optimistic about the rest of phase 2
I like that the problem isn't a Sith or Hurt. And there are several funny parts in these High Republic novels. I'm enjoying them on Audio
Is Phase 3 supposed to take place after Phase 1?
AFAIK after phase two
It was pretty good. Keth really got on my nerves, though.
0:21 I can relate.
Question: Are these audio dramas unabridged versions of the novels?
I love Audio Dramas, I will die on this hill.
It felt pretty empty to me, it just didn't have much. Although reading the marvel comics along with this is pretty good
Please answer this in your Q&A 😃 : Will Mara Jade appear in Andor and-or Kenobi, or has Sabe taken her place in the Empire.

Eh, I'm just not much into Phase 2 of the High Republic and the aliens there frustrate me a lot. Maybe in a few years or so.
First😂
Some people don't have a choice to read
This book was so trash. Very boring just like all the other high republic nonsense. The voice acting was CHEESY! the book was absolutely brutal
Is It's an audio drama, genius, not a book, and go bother somewhere else.
