- Welcome back to our channel. Life with the bridges.
We are the bridge family trying to get the most out of this rat race we all call life.
In September 2021 we found out our dreams had come true. We were expecting a new addition ….to the Bridge family.
We spent the next 9 months, like any normal parents would, preparing our life for the arrival of our little boy.
On the 11th of may 2022, at 11:11pm we were bless with the birth of our son. HE WAS PERFECT. We instantly felt love like we had never experienced and our family of 4 we always dreamed of. Was finally complete.
We had the most magical first 8 months with Teddy experiencing all that life had to offer. UNTIL on the 24 of feb 2023 he got diagnosed with high risk AML Leukaemia.
We spent 6 months (184 days to be exact) at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He endured 2 rounds of chemotherapy and a full bone marrow transplant in hope that it would save our son's life.
We documented every part of his journey on this channel to raise awareness and give childhood cancer the exposure it deserves.
After riding the hellish and unpredictable storm Teddy made it to the end of his treatment and RANG. THAT BELL!
You are joining us now in our next chapter of this journey at home at bridge HQ, as we try to rebuild our life and continue to spread awareness about what it’s like to have a child post cancer and transplant in hope that this second chance at life we have been given. IS FOREVER.

Our perspective and what we want from life when spending 6 months in hospital fighting for your child’s life, let’s just say has changed a little.
All though myself and Katie have been lucky enough to travel the world far and wide in the past and now are slightly restricted for now due to Teddys recovery. This doesn’t mean to can’t dream, explore and go on adventures from our doorstep to show our son what life has to offer.
TIME is something that none of us have control over and let me tell you. It isn’t on our side. I don’t have time. We don’t have time and you don’t have time. Yes I said it. YOU. DON'T. HAVE. TIME.
So if there is one message we would like to spread to all of our community here on our channel. It’s live for today as tomorrow is never promised.
We are going to breathe deep, dream big, travel wide step out our comfort zone and go and grab life with both hands and make the most out of what ever time we have left on this earth. AND WE are taking you along with us. So buckle up as LIFE. WERE COMING FOR YOU.

I can never get enough of Teddy! He's so curious and loves nature. He is a little comedian. Yes, as a parent it is hard to let your child explore on their own but you and Katie are doing it right. I hope you and Katie have a nice trip off grid, enjoy!!

I totally agree not taking Teddy's pacifier away he's only just 2. Im a grandmother of 10 and 8 of my grandchildren had a pacifier especially for nap time, there's nothing wrong in keeping your child happy.
Most of mine grandchildren gave their pacifier's to a friend's new baby, it all works out in the end.❤

I can’t believe people are commenting on the dummie , Teddies speach is better than most at his age . My son was 2 and we paid for a fire engine in our local toy shop with his dummies. I had arranged with the shop owner before hand and explained to my son that everything has to be paid for . He was absolutely fine with this arrangement. He is now 25 and trust me he remembers it and doesn’t use a dummie now
Teddy has been through so much a dummie is no big deal .
You and Katie and Teddy will sort out everything around the issues with the feeding tube. You know yourself how resillient your sweet little boy is. You've got this.

Happy Birthday to Katie!!! As an older lady that is a former babysitter/nanny, I just want to say PLEASE don't rush taking that pacifier away from Teddy!!! Let him have it when he needs it. Feeling secure is so very important especially with what he has been through. Don't let anyone tell you what is right for your child. What does it hurt that he has it????? As he gets a little older he will start doing without it so much on his own. Also the potty training is rough especially for boys. So I will say don't put pressure on him, it just frustrates them. He will get it. Terrible twos is hard enough!! I hope you and Katie had a wonderful little vacation!!

My girl took one talk about the potty, and was trained... My son on the other hand.... I don't think we got him fully trained for about 6 months lol... Just shows all kids are different and will start using the potty when they are ready, not when you are, lol 😂

Don't take the dummie away you've done all the other things first.
My little grandson would have a quick sup of his dummie walking to nursery then put it in my pocket, to take home. Later he only had it at bed time, + gave it up one night as his Dad couldn't find one. That was the end no more dummies.😊😂❤❤❤🎉❤❤❤

I think Teddy will gradually let go of the dummy. As a pediatric nurse formerly, I think you’ll easily get it down to naps, bed, a nd hospital trips. I’m sure that you’ll have it situated before school. I think when we see how intelligent he is, it’s easy to forget where he’s been.
Great exploration.. and learning to let Teddy just explore at his own pace is the best for them. I remember taking my two year old granddaughter down to the beach for the first time and we got no further than a puddle in the lane and I had to relearn that this is what she was interested in at that moment.. we did eventually get to the beach!! ❤

My daughter had a pacifier until she was 3 and gave it up then no problem. We never rushed it and I thought she looked so cute with it! Teddy is amazing and has lots of time to grow up. I just love watching his adventures ❤

Scott and Kate, you're doing amazingly with little man. I agree one thing at a time. You're doing brilliantly with the dummy. He doesn't really have it a lot when you're filming, so I think it will be a quick wean.
He is sooooo blooming cute, funny, happy chappy and you both need to congrats yourselves on being amazing parents. I'm sure you've saved your upset for when your not filming. Scott, you've been flipping amazing documenting your highs and lows, wearing your heart on your sleeve. Also not hiding things that's hit you as you walk Willow.

Happy birthday Katie. You’re a fantastic mum to your son Teddy and he loves you more than you love him. Tour husband Scott is an amazing cook and a fantastic daddy to Teddy. Teddy is doing amazing and thriving on leaps and bounds. When i first heard that your son had cancer it brought me to tears but I know he is going to kick cancer in the bum. You both amazing parents to Teddy.
Hi Scott. Loved the vlog. Seeing Teddy always puts a smile on my face. On another note Giving up a dummy is a really big comfort for a little child to part with. Even more so for Teddy given everything he has been through. If operation ,give up dummy is too much for Teddy, just take a breather and try again a week or two later.
I found my son gave his dummy up when I stopped trying to get him to give it up. He came into the kitchen one afternoon after his nap saying " dirty! Dirty" and he followed up by taking his dummy out of his mouth and putting it in the bin
I thought I would have trouble that evening putting him to bed but how wrong I was. I offered him a dummy ( not the one from the bin I hasten to add) and he said " No mummy no dirty" from then on her never had a dummy again.

My son wouldn’t pee in his potty, he’d seen his dad peeing stood up. It took me ages to figure out why he was so averse to peeing in his potty, so I bought a bucket, put it in the bathroom near the loo and voila, we had a potty trained toddler within a week. He would only poo in his potty if it was out of sight of anyone too 😂 we hid it behind the settee for him. Don’t worry about him being dry through the night for a while either, that’s something that doesn’t need to be rushed as they only prefer dry toddlers through the day at any nursery. Good luck Scott, Katie and Teddy on the next phase of growing the Tedster into a little boy.

I remember when my boys gave up their dummies. I had arranged with a local baker to swap their dummies for a special cake. Off we went to the shop, dummy handed over, never to be seen again! Obviously, Teddy’s situation is totally different and I understand that he needs that comfort while he goes through more changes in his life xx

Happy Birthday Katie!!! Wow…Teddy just is turning into a little man! He looks so adorable in his little hat (and his new pants as a hat!!) 😂😂 Don’t rush to take his pacifier away! It is hurting nothing & it’s pretty intrusive for people to ask/question about that, potty training & taking his NG tube out. That all comes with time. He needs the pacifier for self soothing & it’s important to keep that while he is still undergoing procedures/infusions! Watching Teddy explore is just so heartwarming after all he has been through! So excited to see Teddy in his suit for the wedding!! He’s going to be adorable!!

I've been waiting for someone to comment on his nuk (dummy?) Like many others, I say it's your child, you do things however you want to! I have 7 kids, 16 grandkids, and a great granddaughter!!! NONE of them still have a nuk...lol! Including our brand new great granddaughter ♥ Teddy is a PERFECT Teddy!!! and we LOVE him AS-IS! BLESS YOU ALL!!!😊

Don´t rush taking away the pacifier. When he starts kindergarten, I guess he will drop it by himself (little by little) I have a small advice about the meds. Don´t put them in his milk, they change the taste of it, and you will need him to drink it All up. Maybe pure them in a small amount of juice (apple juice?) You can test different ways, different tastes. You´ll figure it out :-)

Happy Birthday to your beautiful wife❤ I want to comment about your concern about Teddy attending nursery school, as I work in a nursery school in Japan, we have had children recovering from heart surgery and children who have major allergies and seizures, I want you to know that all staff will be aware and make sure your child is given special observation and care . Please make sure you tell the future nursery school your worries concerns and needs. ❤ hugs to you all ❤
Happy bday Katie The dinner looked amazing. I was sooo happy once I was able to discontinue the cyclosporine after my transplant. I was so excited but for a lot longer than the one year mark. I was so disappointed when I couldn’t stop. My issue with Cyclosporine, was the having to take 4 times a day it was a constant reminder I was sick😢. I can’t remember if had to taper the cyclosporine. The reason I’m sharing a little bit of my journey is don’t worry if Teddy doesn’t get to stop it. Sorry for the comments about potty training and stopping the pacifier Teddy will stop when he’s ready. Teddys has some mad skill with hanging on to the pacifier kinda reminds me of how a smoker can do almost everything with the cigarette 😊 To me Teddy is super smart and is ahead of many two year old. Hope you had a great weekend getaway

💯 agree regarding the dummy one thing at a time it’s his comfort....my 21/2 year old grandson in transitioning off his dummy (he had meningitis & was very ill & it was his/ is his comforter ) we’ve reduced it to only for sleep 💤 & when he’s ill...he is doing really well with this gradual approach....

I was advised to allow my granddaughter who is 2 as well to take SAFE risks. You are doing that.

Happy birthday Katy and I hope you have had a wonderful birthday.
As a mother of five children and nine grandchildren can I please say that let Teddy take his time potty training as to be honest after a disaster with trying to train my oldest I left the following four children to wait until they just started to go to the toilet themselves and that was so much more successful and I never used a dummy but Teddy has been through so much and if he’s attached to that dummy so be it and he will grow out of needing that also in his own time. Why people feel the need to question these things is unbelievable as this is your child to whom you are doing an incredible job with and I know you are both more than capable of navigating these things in your own time frame without any outside pressure’s or expectations.
Sorry but I find that so irritating people’s nerve at even asking.

Big question to ask, Parent trained…running to see if he needs to potty all the time, or, Potty Trained, they can hold their urine at nap time and they can tell you or know when they are going pee and poo prior to doing so? These later toddler’s, or Pre-Schooler’s will have less accidents and feel less shame about potty training issues. Just realized I’m opinionated, don’t answer that question. Lol
It’s a good question and also something we haven’t actually thought about. Definitely food for thought for us to discuss this 😂🙌🏻
