My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

Tow/Haul changes your shift points and locks out OD. Flat ground normal is fine. Hills Mountains you want Tow/Haul on.

can't tell ya the difference, but i've had a few astro vans in my day that had tow/haul mode, and i LOVED it. i definitely only used it on the hills if needed and never on the flats, only because of the drop in gas mileage. i also used to use it on slippery/snowy roads. i liked the gearing it had for that...just my 2 cents...lol...quality message...........quality message...lol

We always use tow/haul in our GMC. We tow a 26’ travel trailer and also use a brake controller.

Yes, muggy heat this summer has totally sucked - We had 10 days heatwave up here in Northern Alberta +33 to +37. For our American friends in the south, got the house cooled down to muggy 82 every night and waking up to muggy 79-80 in the morning sucks big time - we are used to dry heat and much cooler temps at night, our homes are built for keeping heat in because of the longer, cold winters and majority of us don’t have AC (yet). Smoke is really bad so can’t open windows and doors much either. Aww Penny needs breakfast 😂. Haha, and bringing your laundry to mom’s house ….. 😂😂😂😂. Have fun time in US.
p.s. I really like that shirt you were first wearing on the drive this morning. It suits you and looks very nice on you.

Oh Matt🫠, 65F is our winter here. 78F is what people set their ac to keep cool. We mainly stay 90sF. We don’t have AC in our van, but there’s good news. We got apartment that we move in August 5. Thank God. My sister will still be doing van life, and starting her channel. California is not your place. That is more than okay. It’s what you get used to in the end. I would be in shorts in a blizzard in Colorado. As you get closer to the water because the wind picks up the moisture in the air. I hope it’s cool for your trip. You’re probably back by now. Make sure you have plenty of washer fluid
Tow/Haul mode keeps the transmission from shifting into overdrive. I had an AWD Chevy van similar to Lucky. When hauling you don't want it to shift into overdrive because it is a lot of wear and tear on the transmission and it also will overheat the oil in your transmission and cause a lot of unwanted wear.
In Montana go see the Sleeping Giant. As the Parrot Candy store in the walking mall
Look at it this way if you have any American dollars left from your trip, it will convert to more Canadian dollars when you go home 😊😅.

A missing seat position sensor
If you recently replaced your seats, the new passenger seat might be missing a seat position sensor, which can cause the airbag light to come on

Tow haul keeps it in a lower grar to limit wear and tare on the transmission, it will also work as a slight engine break on downhill grades which dropping a gear will not. Your call.
I also blame R-134a for lack of ac when accelerating, it cuts down on all models when gunning the throttle.

I saw gas was only a $1.74 there which would be a $1.25 in America where I live but unfortunately where I live in America right now which is Ohio, the gas is 3:59 a gallon!

No no, the express doesn’t come in manual. Lucky is automatic. Grace is manual
