Agree. And if you go for a fitting and put in an aftermarket shaft you are looking at $1K or more. Just insane.
They’ll continue to do se whilst people buy them. Apparently the Wilson is a good cheaper alternative.

I think a great head to head comparison would be the new Callaway Ai Smoke triple diamond vs Callaway Epic Speed Max LS from a few years ago ( that you can probably pick up for $200), it would be interesting to see if a few years make much of a difference.
I tested last year’s Paradym to the Qi10, and I was hitting the paradym in the air farther than my total drive distance with the Max! Going to try the new ai Smoke and Ping this weekend.

2 great drivers I'm sure. I'll try one in about 3 years. Still love my Tsr2 which i hit short and crooked really well. I don't think a new drivers gonna help me much. Got a golf net now though and I've been studying those swing patterns on yt. I'll probably be unstoppable this spring. That pxg you had a few days ago looked awesome though. If looks were yards i would take it all day.

Great review as always! I actually went in for a fitting (following your advice 😎) and tested both of these clubs. The Ping is what landed in my bag. For me, I had lower spin and much tighter dispersion with the Ping vs the QI10. Ball speed was avg 162 vs 156. Carry was 265 vs 257. However, the left to right dispersion was tight with the Ping. All in the fairway vs two that leaked right with the QI10. I also felt like the Ping was easier to swing through the ball. The QI10 felt a bit heavier and more “clicky” through the contact.
They are both amazing clubs! I will say, the biggest factor of which club may work best for any players potentially comes down to swing speed. I swing 92-94mph. Ironically, my son swings closer to 100mph+ and he ended up with better results from the QI10. Which he put in his bag after the fitting. 👍😎
I’m guessing your swing speed is easily 105+ and that may be why you saw the difference in your test.

Great video James... Hit both during a recent Driver fitting. I didn't like the G430 at all, and the Qi10 only got beat out by the Ai Smoke from Callaway. Both are great offerings this year if it fits your swing.

Best part about all these new drivers is how cheap new 'old' drivers are at the start of this year. Picked up a new Callaway Epic Max LS, and it is longer and straighter than everything I have hit and been fitted for over the past 2 years, and best of all its a 1/4 of the price.
Even if the manufacturers hike up their prices more, it doesn't really matter as long as one can buy newish clubs from two or three years ago at reasonable prices. The latest clubs may bring down your 18 hole score by one shot, if that.
Bought the Ping 10k max and absolutely love it, but that’s a personal feel thing for me. As is every club for every player across the world. The TM looks beautiful as well, but when I stand over the ball on the tee box, I am confident in the Ping and that was the deciding factor for me. Great video as always.
I tried the 3 models and was so impressed with the standard model ... completely different to the prior stealth models which I didn't like ....apart from LS models which most players can't control this is by far the longest controllable driver I've hit...bit over the top on price tho

James I agree the cost of drivers has gotten ridiculous I do understand why but they our slowly making it hard for people who are retired to upgrade their clubs. While the ping was good I think the Taylor Made is the choice for you
Imagine having just purchased a Stealth 2 of G430 Max and dropping a bunch of money. Now, not even a year later you have the option of buying the even more expensive new version of the same thing. Fools (and most of us golfer are) and their money are soon parted.. I made the decision long ago that I am never going to fall in that trap again and wait for the prices to come way down, or better yet buy second hand. Thank you James, as always you deliver.
If you bought a G430 or Stealth 2 and are happy with it. Good, you are set and no one is forcing you to buy one this year. But there are plenty of people out there that aren't fools, they just haven't bought a driver in 5, 10 or 15 years and are due for a new one. So should all the companies have stopped making new drivers last year after you bought yours, saying JIM has his driver, no need to make one next year for anyone else. You talk about fools but made yourself out to be the biggest looking one of the bunch. Well done!
It seems like the torque of the shaft tip would determine the MOI of the club head as opposed to the club head itself. 🤷🏻♂️ I mean, if you welded in a piece of re-bar instead of an actual golf shaft, the face of that driver is not gonna to twist at all on impact.
I will be very happy to stick with my new XXIO 11 driver. Best driver I have ever owned in my life. Talk about forgiving. It's amazing and I've gained 10 to 15 yards on my drives

Hi James, excellent content as usual. I have an oxio 12 driver. 13 has just come out. It's the size of a dinner plate. But wow. 41 gram Stiff shaft, you could hit this blind folded. It would be interesting to do a review or comparison to the 10k drivers. As this oxio looks 10k too. 😊

What shafts did you use for the test ?
Since the G430 LST already has the carbon crown, does it sound about the same as the 10k? I currently game the LST, and I wondered if there is really any difference between that and the 10k.

It looked to me like the only significant difference between the two club(heads) was the spin rate, and hence the difference in distance. If there was/is a way to get the spin rate down in the Ping then it would just come down to personal preference. Would a weight adjustment (or different shaft) help.....???? Just askin'.

watching your this video on you testing the Taylormade Qi10 and the ping 10k you had a go on a old titleist driver which matched the Qi10 on distance so it really don’t say allot for the Qi10 another gimmick I think

Made my choice and was fitted by Ping at demo days at Carl's Golfland. I love my G430 Max 10k Played it for the first time yesterday and hit every fairway.
Think I'll keep my Rogue st max for another few years. They are all far too expensive to change for no reason other than to have a new shiny thing.

I’m a Ping user, but I believe this Taylor Made is a big improvement on the Stealth 2 which wasn’t that forgiving.
Thanks for the video! I just got fitted and tried The Taylormade, Ping, AI Smoke, and new Cobra. The Taylormade QI max performed best for my slower swing speed and felt the best of the 4 drivers.
Tried the TM and it’s pretty good I wouldn’t touch ping as the looks are terrible and the sound of previous pings was awful. Will try the ai smoke but think the TM will be the one to beat as it’s just so easy to hit.
Just been fitted for the TaylorMade, it just performed better for me than the Ping.

Save your money. Take lessons, wait a year or 2 to buy.

Tried the q10 against my ping i15 (which is half an inch shorter, too). Had all sorts of shaft options and head tweaks in a trackman session. NO DIFFERENCE! Spent the cost of a q10 on lessons over the last year. Much better investment. Support your local pros.
£80/90 per hour for lessons, why would I support that? £500+ a day is more ridiculous than 500 on a driver in my opinion, same problem with green fees, thats much more of a problem than 500 on a driver.
@DanB- I'm only speaking from my own experience. I pay £50 an hour once a month with a pro I rate and whose coaching I trust, based on the changes he has made to my game over the last couple of years. I work on my game inbetween and the lessons have helped me get to a point where I can swing consistently enough for the tech in new drivers not to matter, and that is based on the objective Trackman numbers. The tech doesn't work as effectively as the advertising states the more consistently you can hit the ball.
@@SimonDuffy2 Yeah I didnt say anything about whether this years tech is better/performs better etc, Im merely stating most lessons are a ridiculous price to me, I think lessons are a great investment and will make a huge difference to most golfers over equipment changes. I just think they overcharge and especially as you need consistent lessons to keep getting better or at least keep on track with your swing. I will support my pro when they support me, most cant get gear cheaper than online, charge a fortune for lessons and most dont even have a launch monitor, or indoor studio so you hit range balls.... Hell, they even overcharge for a mars bar rofl.
@DanB- that's a fair point, I think. Finding a good pro who you consider good value and you feel comfortable with is really important. I tried a few and none gave me a sense of actually wanting to do anything but give me tricks and swing thoughts of the week...and their Mars bars were expensive, too. The pro I see lets me try all the new tech, but has never tried to sell me anything new. If there is the chance at the end of a lesson, we Trackman compare what I use against what is new to see if there are any benefits to investing in new gear. I still play Titleist 762s (at least 20 years old) with an i15 driver. Did like the T100 irons though! I hope you can find a good pro near you.

Ping has been right at the 10k before since G400 & G425 Taylormade just figured out how to market it better and make it sound like they were first and carbon face isn’t that great look at how many problems they had with it in stealth and no one really talked about that
Tried the QI10, play a G430 max currently. On a good strike, I'm spinning about 2600 with the G430. With the QI10, I was getting 4000+spin. I didn't care for it.

Why do you changed camera angle for Qi10 not showing stats? Surely as you said when you hit Qi10, spin is much higher.
Too expensive, only one I would buy is the PXG Black Ops and that is because for first responders, military personnel and veterans they charge $449.00.
Couldn't justify paying that much as my wife doesn't get have 10k MOI forgiveness.

The 10K is all about the twist of the club face on off center hits. The driver won't twist when you hit it off the toe. You nay your own admission hit left. You might be over compensating when you might not have to with these drivers. I only mention this because you don't talk about the club face twisting on off center hits. Taylor Made golfs TH-cam channel put a video out 2 wks ago explaining and showing this to Tiger Woods, Tommy Fleetwood, and a few others. Check it out !
Observation not criticism. Almost every driver, when hit outside, is a fade. When hit inside, starts left and stays left of the center line. What's the difference?

Qi10 has the same face as Stealth and Stealth 2. Until they can guarantee it won't come off like both previous, then I'll go Ping every day, esp at the price.
Edit....... picked up a Ping and got it for £539 from Jam Golf on offer. Tip, if you add it to your basket but dont checkout, within 24 hours, you get an email with 10% off. Personally the Ping has been unreal and easily most forgiving ive ever had. Right across the face
The new name brand clubs are too expensive to make them worth purchasing for almost all golfers.
I believe the Ping G400 was already a 10k club head, it just wasn't a marketing point at the time. If that's true then just get one of those second hand.
What I find interesting is the Ping will hold it's value. You can hardly find 4 year old pings for under $400. I got last year's Stealth 2 Plus for $270 with a Ventus TR shaft
I find golf manufacturers with 2 year cycles like ping and titleist hold their value better. Lots of taylormade golfers get new gear every year and get sucked into the hype! 2nd tier brands like Wilson I like but the resale is terrible so not worth it to me.
I agree I just picked up a demo og TM stealth for $170 in great shape, the reason why ping and others like titleist hold their value more is because of the 2 year release cycle.

The ping G425 max released in January 2021 has 10,000 moi. 🤷 There could also be others, i don't know of ?? The advertising and marketing departments are getting pretty desperate.

Thanks for reviewing clubs for the masses, you and Peter are my most trusted opinions but reviewing triple diamond type clubs aren’t for the majority of golfers and if you are good enough to use those clubs they likely don’t need your opinion! Us golfers with handicaps do! Keep up the great work and maybe review some ladies clubs with a guest!
They were two different lofts. To make them equal you would have had open or close a clubface. Tm has an upright setting and ping does not.

You'll be waiting three years for that. On a "gently" used club. Even then, it will be over 300 pounds ($390+ USD).
James not to muddy the water that’s already a mess but how do these so called Max drivers stack up to the two new Callaway AI Max and Max Fast ( whatever that means)drivers? These prices are reflections of the over the top marketing strategies that in the end cost the consumer a great deal of money. My bag is full of second hand equipment. James, not to correct not you but the price is the same in the US for these two at $599 each.

Iv got the Ping it's a great Diver.but it was £499. They are getting too much.
Ping should just ditch the turbulators drop the price by $200 and they will sell so many drivers that they will cover the losses in the price drop and then some.

The Taylormade is far better looking and the sound is by far superior. The blue face is so much more appealing.
This is the first test I have seen that TM outperformed Ping. I tried it and it was extremely spinny. Giving up 30 yards to other drivers. Almost 3wood distance.

Right o! The bloody ping has been spinning lower and further than the tm in every review. Two different lofts on the drivers doesn't make it fair either. James butchered the whole thing he did
