Two friends of mine recently went for a fitting. One went in wanting to get the AI Smoke irons and the other, who plays the i525, wanted to get the i530. The one who wanted the Callaway came out with tthe Ping i530 and the one that wanted the Ping i530 came out with the AI Smoke. They both love their clubs and, what I can see over the course of 3-4 rounds, they are both playing well. Great video. I like the clean and quick format. So nice that you are not speaking just to hear your own voice. Keep it up.
Yes, I too thought Ping had to up their game in their clubs. I do love Ping irons, I have a bag full of them. I sold them after getting fit for clubs and came out with a new set of Callaway clubs. I tried them for the rest of the season, went back to the guy that I sold my pings to & traded my Callaways for my old ping irons. I would never do that normally, but I learned my lesson, never mistrust your own instinct. Thanks for the great video's, enjoy them very much.
I had a fitting in Gainsborough 1 week ago. Tried the I230 and I530 irons. I liked both but loved the I530 irons. They just let the ball fly, easy to hit with great results. Was pleasantly surprised by the noise and feel. I’m 56 mid handicap and currently play Wilson D9 forged (also very good irons) but gained 15yrds on my 7 iron, but kept peak height and decent angle so sorry Wilson they’re on order. 😊 PS enjoying the new style of content 👍🏻
Nice review Andy, short & to the point and very informative, one thing I really noticed was the sound of the clubs, wasn’t sure which one sounded the loudest but I felt there was a marked difference in the sound, which is a huge thing for me not withstanding the feel & looks of the clubs which is also very important
thanks for great video , got fitted for i530 few weeks ago they arrived week later, custom fit 5 to UW graphite shaft recoil dart 75g reg half inch longer, with power spec lofts, have very slow swing speed due to numerous injuries, tried various others and these just felt so so good and performed the best, look great and feel great too, fun is back in my golf, greetings from South west Ireland
I bought I530s when they were released. Came from Callaway Rogue ST Max OS irons, so a big change initially for me, but I felt I had progressed enough to no longer want game improvements. I've found that the feedback of the clubs has really helped me with ballstriking. I also found my ball flights to be much higher, which has led to lower scores via me not rolling off the back of greens. Phenomenal clubs in my opinion, and the only thing I would've considered buying instead were Mizuno Pro 245s.
I recently bought the G730 . What a dramatic difference . My previous set is Ping ISI. 26 yrs old . The 730 is poker straight , mostly . And 2 clubs longer , also... mostly. I used to hit 9 iron 125yds . Now it's 150 . But I need to dial it in . New 7iron goes almost 190 where my old 7 was 150 . That's more like 3 clubs further . I really need alot of practice and I'll probably see a more repeatable difference in distance . Only 2 rounds with the 730 , so I'm gonna take it easy on my swing and focus on consistency over power . Great feel so far . Thanks for the video .
I bought a set of Ping Eye 2+ irons (2 thru PW) off ebay three years ago for $90 USD. I've been playing various forged TaylorMade irons for decades but always like hitting the Ping Eye 2's that my dad has when I visit on vacation. Despite being nearly 3 decades old, the Pings play well and I shoot the same score. The ball has no idea what hit it - just buy what you like based on feel, look, playability, price, etc. Forget the marketing hype - physics hasn't changed.
I tried the G730 irons but didn't like them. I hit the G430 irons with a different shaft and thinking about ordering the G430 irons. I'm 75 so a lighter shaft combined with the G430 irons seemed better for me.
Got fit in the g730s 5-50°. First set of new irons, absolute rocket sticks. For higher swing speed players who are more consistent with the short end of the bag, I think these are perfect.
I’m enjoying your videos very much including the reviews and destinations - thank you! I play the i525 myself and love these clubs. My wife however has just received her G730 irons, in the High Launch and Retro spec, which you suggest make more sense. Even with her lower swing speed these are launching fabulously and provide great feel, sound and feedback. She absolutely loves them and has increased her enjoyment of the game.
Too those who are interested in ping i530s..i absolutely love them..i moved into them from taylormade m2 irons Another thing too remember is that yes you see some shots fly further then your current irons..this is due the technology in the i530s..especially the lower CG...yes the lofts are slightly stronger on some.of the irons in the set..but with a.lower CG..you will.see the same peak height along with longer distance..the i530s are considered players distance.irons
I tried i530 irons in a fitting session. It was between them and zx5's. I hit a hot one from i530, going 20 yards further than the rest. This put me off them. I ended up with the Srixons, as they were so consistent and a lot better feeling.
I play forged blades with traditional lofts, 34 degree loft in the 7 iron. Out of curiosity I tried out the Ping i530, Taylor Made P790, Mizuno Pro 245, and Wilson forged Dynapower in the fitting bays at the PGA Superstore I go to with launch monitors. The Ping 7 iron has a 29 degree loft, P790 30.5 degrees, Mizuno 30 degrees and Wilson 30.5 degrees. I got virtually identical results with the Ping, P790 and Wilson, and slightly less with the Mizuno. I liked the Ping, P790 and Wilson a lot. For someone looking for new irons in this category, I think any of those three would be just fine. It might come down to personal preference in looks, feel and sound. The Wilsons are less expensive. As for me, not surprisingly these three 7 irons got about 10 yards more carry than my 34 degree 7 iron. But all I had to do was grab my 31 degree 6 iron and I got identical results in every data point, ball speed, launch angle, carry, spin, height, descent angle and total. So I proved to myself there’s no need to buy new irons. But all three are indeed very nice and very playable.
First nice set of irons when i was 17 was a set of ping eye 2 ...2-sw .....great clubs .....game at moment a set of s55s ....and they are brilliant....but just bought a set of pured i 230s ....in my spec ....that were used for 3 rounds and bought them for half price 5- pw for 700 us dollars ....and will be going in the bag later in the season ....just have a lot of confidence at moment in the s 55s.....but will put the i230s in towards end of the season and get friendly with them over the next winter ...ping makes great clubs ...great fitters ....and they last ....very durable.......i do really like that blueprint s ....the cavity back .....i would say i will own a set in next year or so .....
I went in 5 weeks ago for a fitting .. I hit about every new club made and it came down to the i530’s .. I just hit them better than anything else . Man I truly love them now tho .. the are really strong lofted tho .. I hit them a mile and really nice ball flights
I agree Andy. I'm not getting any younger! So a hollow bodied power bat is appealing. I'm a Ping man so i530 looks great .......... but there hasn't been the usual vids? I have I 220s. Love the shorter club review format.
Just bought a ping cross over 2 iron it’s been a game changer for me. 200 to 240 yards with roll out. Great fairway finder. First ping club it won’t be my last.
I’ve tried these i530’s, and several other Ping’s, I just don’t like the feel of Ping irons - in general. To be honest, I like the feel of my old Ping Eye 2’s better than modern Ping’s. I have a set of Callaway X Forged 21 CB’s, my gamers, and a set of Srixon Zee X 5 MKII, which are both great feeling clubs….to me. Great video, thanks for sharing. 🇨🇦
I'm surprised that the data are so close. Normally, one would expect the players' club to be a bit shorter, especially on mishits. It sounds like Ping did a good job with the internal weighting on it.
I went into the local gold galaxy and hit 30 different types of irons from all the major manufacturers. None hit better than the i530 so that is what’s in my bag!
In my fitting I didn’t get to try this 530 and I think it’s because I needed v light shafts and that’s limited to just a few irons. It was G430 for me which I hit better than the 730’s. And yes I only had the 7 iron to try.
what do you suggest for a 10 handicap? I have the AP3's right now, looking to move back to the pings as my swing is slowing down at 50yrs old. I usually hit my 7 160-165 , I miss the look of my old blades and want a smaller club that feels soft. Cheers.
My brother has the 730s in the bag..personal opinion is they look🤢, sound 🤢 and feel 🤢 but they do the job so well...he'll be down from 25 to 18 in no time. Perfect irons for him. I like the look of the 530s..might go and hit them soon.
Ping offer free fittings everywhere if you like ping you buy ping simple isn’t it really. Only ping club I’ve ever owned was a g15 driver absolute beast of a club. I’ve hit loads over the years always thought they were good in general I’d mainly be hitting the i range but ultimately sound, feel and looks meant I chose other options. I wouldnt of sacrificed outright performance for those things but I always managed to find similar performance elsewhere. They are also in general lighter than what I am used to or potentially swing weighted to feel lighter than I am used to. I’m still playing my Nike v pro combo’s with some heavy s300 in so everything feels lighter I guess. I am ready for change but not totally sure where to go yet.

My own experience: The quieter the marketing, the better the products…meets the point very often. Brands launching „game changers“ every three to six months never attract my attention
@@TheAverageGolfer It does , say that you are on the course. Hey can I try your X club and suddenly you are way beyond the green for a bullshit reason. And you also have the issue where people think that their 7 iron goes 190 yards but in reality they are hitting a 5 or 6
