    They made not have gotten the full on international attention they deserved, but they are my favorite band and an outright legend in my book!!!!! (Coming from an American!)

    I love how serious and humorless they always look performing, in contrast to the energy in the music - just awesome.

    One of the best bands to ever come out of Australia . I know they did well with milky way . Personally I reckon they should have been bigger . Steven Kilbey is a great singer & artist . Great that they reformed . Seen them last year . They performed there hits . Great show . 😊 Sydney Australia 🦘 18 Jan 2025

    One of my favorite songs from the greatest band ever. Always a concert favorite, I hope somebody can post a live version video of this song. Too bad this version is not really live.

    Wow, I feel like I'm gravedigging such an old post, but love seeing vintage 80s era concerts. Also catch the "Despite the reports they are still together" comment? Somebody else caught that too ... bottom line, like most everything in the 80s there was some differences of opinion about band lifestyles. Thanks for sharing the video!

    I remember a gig at The Astra Hotel in Bondi, must have been 1980 or 81 during the Of Skins and Heart tour - from that night on I was a life long fan.

    Can't believe the wankers that come on here and ask "is this mimed?", "is he lip syncing?" Or worse the one's who criticize it. Where have these people been? Of course they're NOT playing live. ALL these type of music programs ie. Countdown, Bandstand etc...... are used ONLY for Promotional Purposes (For TV). They couldn't be bothered or probably even afford to set up a whole LIVE SOUND RIG for a band. The bands need the exposure and the shows need the bands, good bit of promo for everyone. If u wanna see the band LIVE then go to one of their shows.

    Plenty of islands between now and then
    Rocks break the boats of the painted face men
    And they drown, and they're born
    And they live once again
    And this all happens
    When you were mine

  • @Kohntarkosz
    @Kohntarkosz 16 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    It's interesting that intro seems to suggest there were rumors of them breaking up. I wonder if that wasn't fall out from Nick Ward leaving and Richard Ploog replacing him.
    And yeah it's a shame they're underrated Stateside. Sad thing is, most Americans probably view them as a "one hit wonder", much like Thin Lizzy, another band who had a long career of creating inventive rock music, but are known in the US for more or less one song.

    • @PaulerBradford
      @PaulerBradford 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've always hated that. Like if I ask.... "Do you like Steve Miller, Fleetwood Mac, and definitely Simple Minds, and a thousand other bands why did I mention such popular bands? Because Steve Miller and Fleetwood Mac had so many much better songs than the ones that were on the radio. Annoyingly most Americans know Simple Minds for a song they didn't even write. They have such brilliant albums, like the church do, that came out before and after

    • @Kohntarkosz
      @Kohntarkosz 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PaulerBradford Not only did Simple Minds not write that song, I gather they didn't even want to do it, a point made by the fact that they didn't put it on their next album, it was just on that movie soundtrack.

    Just bought The Blurred Crusade as some heathen stole my first copy.
    A standout song on a standout album

  • @Kohntarkosz
    @Kohntarkosz 16 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow, I hadn't realized that there was so much time between Skins And Hearts and The Blurred Crusade. It's funny you mention Richard being the one band member who isn't there anymore. If I'm not mistaken, Tim's been in the band for about twice the time that Richard was.
    Has anyone ever written a book about The Church?

    • @PaulerBradford
      @PaulerBradford 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's probably because a lot of great church fans
      are most sentimental for their 80s music.
      I love the later and recent stuff too,
      but my most beautiful and painful memories are from the 80s, connected to their music.

  • @Nigelxman
    @Nigelxman 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    wow. Seeing the Church lip sync to screaming teenage girls is a bit weird. Forgive my ignorance, (I'm a Yank) but was this show kind of an Aussie equivelant of American Bandstand? It seems about as cheesy. Oh and I've read that Richard Ploog is working as a gardener in Sydney.
