  • In this video, I discussed some differences and similarities between two of the biggest mixed-used projects in Kenya.
Tatu City and Konza Technology City are two prominent smart cities in Kenya, both strategically developed to alleviate the challenges of urbanization in the country and drive investment. Spanning 5,000 acres each, they differ in their projected resident populations.
Tatu City, situated in Kiambu County, is a diverse development incorporating residences, industries, and various amenities, envisioned to house over 150,000 residents. In contrast, Konza Technology City, located in Machakos County, is specifically designed as a technology hub, representing Kenya's flagship project for its 2030 vision. It aspires to be an eco-friendly, high-tech hub driving national economic growth, expecting to accommodate 200,000 residents and generate over 200,000 job opportunities.

Though Konza seems to be close to Nairobi, I don't think its in anyway associated with Nairobi's extension. Reason?
Because it's in another county(Machakos) which is not really integrated with Nairobi.
In short saying Konza is in Nairobi is like saying Machakos is in Nairobi which to an average Kenyan would say that statement is inaccurate

It's the government project awarded to many investments groups and for obvious reasons the commonly known one is a South Korean investor

Well, it will have a CBD area which is not built yet. That's makes it a city

    • @TheRasvic

@@obadiahnjeru7045 having a CBD does not qualify a development to become a city...the population does....hell all small towns in Kenya have a CBD, does it then mean we have cities all over Kenya?
