I had both of these sleds growing up. Good memories. My brother had the 97 xc 440

I bought a 1997 XC440 new and loved that little sled. The sled was very quick for a 440. Would just hook and go. My cousin could never beat it with his XLT.

@@oldsledstv2532 It was actually funny I was new to snowmobiling and it was my first sled. First thing he asked me was “Is that thing big enough for you?” Lol

Had the 96 and was a monster in the whoops and woods.. Hot seat clutching brought it to life very nice. I raced in the 440 and the 600 class and many times won many 600 races with a 440….Great video..

Thanks for the comment! I raced against a bunch of 600's as well and had a lot of fun doing so. I think this is my favorite sled of all time!

Yeah my 1993 special had 38 carbs n I wrapped the exhaust pipe. Had to put in bigger weights. Man that sled was fast. No one could stick with you unless you were talking top end

I had that 98. It would beat everything to the first corner, then know one could pass that nimble little sled.

I think there was about a 30hp difference between them!!😮

When I got my '96 in June of '96, it had been a factory racer, the guy claimed it had been dynoed at 85hp. Maybe he was puffing, but I'd say they were around 80 for sure considering the '86 Indy 400 trail sled was around 60. I think the '98's were around 100. The '98 was definitely more powerful but I'd say maybe 20hp better at best. Just my two cents!

96 made 75 hp.. 98 made 92 hp.. almost the same as a 1990 indy 650 but with a lot less weight.

I think the 440 sp had more power than the 440 std? I had the 1996 sp and it was super fun. Awesome sleds.

Somthing seems off, somone might have been looking for future inshurance here? I live in Canada! Deep, dangerous phycology! They look the same to me for that reason!

That's awesome! I have a 99 440 Fuji with 4k miles but the motor has been replaced with a lower mileage one, that's how I got it anyway. I'd like to see how far I can take it. I've been running Amsoil dominator but I'm not sure if that's necessary not to mention it's really expensive right now. Being my first sled I just want to make it last.
