  • Angus Clark: "Ward Off is a bouncy, spring like energy that comes from within. It's really good to get the feel of this rather than experiencing it as something hard and solid that keeps something away. In fact it's quite the opposite -- in pushing hands ward off is the posture that you use to meet the other person's energy so you want it to be soft, sensitive and bouncy. Ward Off Right is not a mirror image of its predecessor. It uses a different shape. They're both ward off but slightly different expressions. A bit like ice-cream -- one's vanilla, one's strawberry!"

Thank you. This has been such a great help to me - to slow it down and break it down like this. And offering both the front and back angles. Brilliant. Now I can feel it :)

This is clearest demonstration of Ward off left and ward off right that I've ever seen on the Internet, (and the only one that goes into enough detail for someone to be able to teach themselves.) Thank you, (my students can use this as homework and come back to me for the applications.)

Just found this channel: looks like Yang style. Hope the rest of the form is still available on YT! I like the way it’s demonstrated and explained, thank you.

Tip from my master is to align the knee and elbow and align the wrist with the solar plexus for stability

Unfortunately this is useless for the beginners. It may be good for those who know the movements and want to see how they are combined and how to achieve the proper " flow." But if you are not introduced to single movements (analytically, indicating where the first movement starts and the second begins) there is no way that you will be able to learn them properly. So this is Tai Chi for beginners in disguise, because you will never be able to learn the movements properly by watching this. And the fact that the presenter wears long pats does not help, either.

you should never learn tai chi from a video but his demonstrations on the moves are very clear for those with eyes
