Rule #1: Understand your shopping habits. “Do I need it, or do I want to change how I feel.” “What feeling am I looking to get out of it?” “Can I get this feeling without shopping?” Rule #2: Understand what you like and dislike. “What colors do you like, what do you buy most often, what triggers you?” Rule #3: Break up with fantasy self. The things you buy make you think you will be the fantasy version of yourself. Rule #5: Reignite the fire of items you already have: If you see a skirt online that you really want, take a look at skirts you already have in your closet and then google that type of skirt on Pinterest and you probably will be inspired again without having to buy anything again. Rule #6: How do I feel about buying this item? Is it ok? Or is it a hell yes? Rate the item 1-10, if it’s less than a 10, leave it. Rule#7: “Just wait to buy item.” The bigger the purchase the longer you should wait. Rule #8: versatility. What can I wear this with? Can you think of 5 reason to buy something? If you can’t, leave it. Rule #9: ignore discounts. Even if it’s discounted you are not saving money. You are spending. Rule #10: Follow a 1 in, 1 out rule. If you buy something new, let go of something old. Rule #11: Borrow/ rent or create it. If you only need something for one time, find a way to borrow or rent or figure out a way to create the item that you already have at home. Ex: she used a empty candle holder to hold her beauty blender. Rule #12: “Quality vs Quantity, quality is better.” Get good quality items that last you a good amount of time instead of having to buy a bunch of cheap things.
I really like the tip about the fantasy self ♡ So much money wasted on trying to become that person and trying to achieve "my aesthetic" lmfao but something always feels off no matter what I purchase

Yes, so simple yet so powerful because even though it seems very obvious, once I really internalised it my shopping changed so so much! Even if something is just a few euros, I remind myself that if I'm not going to use it, it's money wasted 😉😃 So I'm super happy you enjoyed the tips! 😘❤️
Number 5 is the best one for me🎉 first, I think I need everything I see so the first few questions would take a little work. But, looking for a similar item, and then finding outfits on Pinterest is genius!!! Thank you for making this video. It’s so helpful.
This is fantastic! Love the tip about looking at new ways to style clothes you already have when you’re excited about purchasing a new item. I’ve actually done this before & can verify that it works! Just subscribed 🙂
I'm happy you like the video and welcome! 🙂 I love this tip too, it's so simple and so effective, especially if fashion is a bit of your weak spot, hehe (guilty) 🙈 Nice to hear it worked for you as well, and thank you for sharing! 😘
Excellent info! I needed to hear this! I am guilty of shopping online at midnight and once the item came, I wondered why I had purchased it. Your ideas make sense! Thank you💕
This was so refreshing! There are some tips that I already know as all these minimalist videos say the same thing, BUT you had so many different ideas! And you also articulated all this info in a way a way that was different, a way that I get! Really good stuff here…! I just noticed the comments! I guess I am not the only one who thinks the same way! Thanks so much!
Aw, thank you so much!! 😊 I personally watched a lot of the videos as well when I was trying to change my shopping habits, but I always felt something was missing. So I tested and tried new ways throughout the years, and that's why I feel this video resonates with so many people - it took me years to combine all these ideas together, so I'm super happy they're helpful, it means the world to me 😘❤
Great tips, personally, I like to use a very simple trick before any purchase - I just write into my phone, that I have the intention to buy it and leave it for a couple of days. Later, if I still feel the urge that's valuable for me, than I can make the purchase (for sure, considering if I can afford it)
Your right on everything..im ansiosa because my husband do to this Job😐😞 Is gonna be away for for another 2months😊I want to stop the impulse of going to Buy clothing, even in a 2nd hand.store.I have a lot of pieces🙈
Oh, my husband was also traveling a lot, so I can relate 😊 What helped me was finding exciting projects while he was away to keep me joyful and busy. It can be anything that sparks your curiosity. You can also create a goal for yourself to keep you motivated and focused 😉 I personally loved decluttering and reorganising while he was away, and also I loved reading books on topics I find interesting and then applying them to my life. Hope this helps 🥰
Thank you for these rules. 🌷I will put some of your rules on my shopping list to remind me, not only for clothing but other items I purchase without much thought.Hope this can reduce my clutter as well as my impulse shopping. 😅
I really see myself in the 11th point, I remember, that when I was in high school, me and my buddies often switched clothing for parties, even for those where we had to wear a suit. I had like one tie and one shirt, but I had 3 other friends who also had one tie and one or two shirts, so we switched it up and we never looked like someone who alwas comes in one clothing. Even though we were all broke and we never wanted to invest that few bucks we had back then, into clothing (but rather into an electric guitar for example). 😀
This video is full of helpful information for us to save money 😃👍 An empty and clean Nutella glass jar makes a perfect makeup brush holder by the way 😉
Omg. I literally _just_ did this with a Free People jacket. It wasn't the color I would have picked if I paid full price, but it was $120 cheaper! But still, I'll probably not wear it that much since it's not really in my normal color scheme
I always feel that your advice is tailored exactly to me and my habits, it's amazing! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and ability to break things down very clearly!

Such a useful video. My closet is full of lovely clothes and is being so difficult to declutter. I am that kind of person that wants to have everything at hamd and in my closet for when I decide to wear it. But see that most of it I wear maybe once or twice a yr. but have everything there. I only buy what I dont have........ but nothing fits in closet any more. I do clean up every two months and give away. I love clothes since I was 11 and now am 73 and still love clothes!!!!!!What do you think is my problem hehehe❤❤
Thank you! 😊 And I understand, I used to declutter items just to buy similar things again, but for me everything changed when I started decluttering and analysing at the same time, and I made an entire video about the step-by-step process: th-cam.com/video/FYLR1_XlmGg/w-d-xo.html 🥰 But if that is too much work, you can also try sectioning your wardrobe and creating seasonal variations, again I have a video on that: th-cam.com/video/DV3YTeBlhYE/w-d-xo.html 😉 Or lastly, if you're just curious about my before and after (I had a full walk-in closet) and how big difference analysing can make, you can watch this for inspiration: th-cam.com/video/5e4jMzhVUwM/w-d-xo.html ❤️ I hope this helps!

How to change impulse to buy good deals (mostly in thrift stores) for future? For exapmle - i found out winter overall who whould suit my son in next winter but i would spend money which i actually don't have. I know that but there is urge to buy because i am afraid that i won't find such a good deal in future when i will need it.
This is all very personal, but I don't see a problem buying items for future if we're a 100% sure we're going to use them and need them - however we should not go in debt or add financial stress because of that, so it's really about assessing what is essential for us right now. I hope this helps, but like I said it's all very personal 😊
I actually wait before buying most of the things. I have wish lists in many shopping sites and I eventually buy many of them. Waiting before buying may not actually work to stop impulsive buying If you have a lot of waiting stuff.
For me, what I constantly fall for is buying things, to become more popular and liked, it's been my problem since I was a kid, I bought fame. To be liked more I buy things. And this is a constant problem for me. I need to focus and remember that I am likeable even just as I am, I don't need things to make be valuable as a humans being. I am valuable just the way I am. I forget that I love all the people in my life just the way they are, and not for what cool stuff they own and so on. But I forget this and think that I would be more likeable if I have the coolest and best stuff around that people will be so impressed by.
Yes, you absolutely don't need cool and trendy things to be loved, none of us do ❤️ But I completely get the feeling of not being enough, we all experience that in one way or another. What really helped me is actively looking for things I liked about myself - so I wrote 15-20 things down on a piece of paper, everyday, until my mentality shifted because confidence is really about what we think about ourselves, and once we love who we are, we really don't need reassurance from others 🥰 I know it's easier said than done, but it's possible, and I just wanted to share my story in case it helps you! 😘
My downfall is like when I have Kohl's cash or Old Navy Cash. Then I think, oh free money I have to spend it. But of course, I always end up spending more then the $10. or 20 dollars of free cash. So I am trying to be mindfull of that. I also ended up buying a lot of stuff I really didn't need or want.
Oh yes, I know what you mean, that can be really tricky sometimes 🙈 But well done for realising this because being aware is already winning half the battle 😉 Thank you for sharing! 😘
I just bought orange pants and an interesting white t shirt from a vintage market and I thought I did so well and thought I was smart about it but I brought them home and now I regret them 😭 it sucks bc I've been watching videos like this for months and I feel like I never fully listen to them. Like I had outfits planned in my head but when I put them on they just didn't look how I pictured them and the actual items aren't as versatile as I had thought. Hhh.
Don't worry, I also needed time to improve my shopping habits, so be gentle with yourself 😊 And if you haven't watched this video already I definitely recommend it: th-cam.com/video/FYLR1_XlmGg/w-d-xo.html It will give you even more clarity about your style and will help you improve shopping for clothes - for me, it was truly life-changing so I hope this helps 🥰
I have denim jeans, skirts, jackets and shorts because they are on everyone’s must-have lists. I have never worn any of them, I hate wearing denim, it’s stiff, hot, rough and doesn’t stretch. It’s also just too casual for my style. Time to purge them. The advantage of being older (62) is that one doesn’t feel the necessity of wearing what everyone else does. If I did that, I would only wear the local uniform, black or gray polyester gym clothes, everyday, which I loathe.
Yes, it's absolutely life-changing when we start listening to ourselves and not follow the trends or people around us - we feel free, content and we shop way less! 💁♀️
The problem about me is that my fantasy self turned into reality. I don't have a single pair of comfortable shoes except the sneakers I wear in the gym. When I go to gym I realize that I can really walk. So when I see an uncomfortable designer shoe I know that I would be wearing it around in pain. So I buy it without hesitation. I think I'm in the helpless zone lol.
Uf, I had so many uncomfortable high heels and shoes, and I believe if I could turn it around, so can anybody. My advice would be to slowly start adding stylish AND comfortable shoes to you collection, and make a deal with yourself to not add any uncomfortable shoes to you collection from now on. I know it's easier said than done, but I once you find the overlap between style and comfort you're never going back, hehe 😊
What exactly did you have in mind? 😁 I already did a minimalist bedroom and bathroom tour, which you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/bHQW-a1bpsM/w-d-xo.html Hopefully you can find some home decor inspiration from these videos 😍😘
I think it's normal to buy things spontaneously once in a while, but when it becomes a compulsion or we buy things we don't use or need, then I would say we have to work on our shopping habits 😊 Hope this helps!
Yes, no problem 😊 Fantasy version of ourselves is when we fantasize about who we want to be, without any intention of becoming that way. So it's not actually something we truly want to be, just a fantasy that sounds great in our head. And when we shop for a fantasy version that will never come true, we're pretty much wasting our money because the items won't be used. I hope this helps, if not let me know and I can clarify a bit more 😘
@@tutorialyoni7862 Yes, I think we do 😊 But I absolutely agree that we should dream and better ourselves, but that is different from fantasy: fantasy self is something we aren't working on becoming, where a better self is something we're actively working on to become 😉🥰
Wow, that's great!! 💁♀️ And I know what you mean, my husband felt a bit weird at first when I often didn't buy anything when shopping - but now he's used to it, hehe 😉
Rule #1: Understand your shopping habits.
“Do I need it, or do I want to change how I feel.”
“What feeling am I looking to get out of it?”
“Can I get this feeling without shopping?”
Rule #2: Understand what you like and dislike.
“What colors do you like, what do you buy most often, what triggers you?”
Rule #3:
Break up with fantasy self. The things you buy make you think you will be the fantasy version of yourself. Ex: wanting to buy high heels thinking you will wear them but in reality you wouldn’t
Rule #4:
Be clear about what you want to buy when out shopping: have a list, go directly to sales person asking about the item you want, avoid browsing.
Rule #5:
Reignite the fire of items you already have:
If you see a skirt online that you really want, take a look at skirts you already have in your closet and then google that type of skirt on Pinterest and you probably will be inspired again without having to buy anything again.
Rule #6:
How do I feel about buying this item?

The 10/10 is such a good tip. You will always grab the 10 out of 10's. I will never come home with a 9 again :)
I'm super happy you like it! 😊And like you said, then you can only grab a 10 out of 10's, so you always feel fantastic 💁♀️😍
The only issue of course is, my 10/10s are often 7/10 of my income. Lol

SUCH genius advice! ❤
Glad you think so! 🥰
Really great advice, I love that you are addressing the many facets of this problem. Very helpful.
I think it helps the versatility of items to pick simpler cuts, solid colors, and classic prints. The more trendy details an item has, the faster it will date.
Absolutely agree!! 😊
I would recommend looking through your wardrobe before shopping.
It helps, as most of the time You’ll find something there that you like, try to combine outfits that you’ll wear,
that kills the urge to go shopping.
And when You do go shopping, you’ll remember what you have in your wardrobe so you don’t buy duplicates.
- When you go out shopping, have 3 fundamental questions:
1. How often will I wear it?
(Has to be timeless, classy, lasting for many years)
2. Can I match it with other items?
3. Do I have something similar already?
These above approaches will help you curb your impulses.
All great tips!!

Excellent video! The most helpful one of its type that I’ve seen.
Thank you so much! I'm glad I could help 😘❤️
Very good.
I'm glad you like it! 😊
Excellent advice!!! Thank you for a great video! ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
I actually wait before buying most of the things. I have wish lists in many shopping sites and I eventually buy many of them. Waiting before buying may not actually work to stop impulsive buying If you have a lot of waiting stuff.
Yes, waiting alone sometimes isn't enough, or maybe you can wait a little bit more to see if there is a difference 😊 If not, lean on other tips more 😉
For me, what I constantly fall for is buying things, to become more popular and liked, it's been my problem since I was a kid, I bought fame.
The fantasy part is so true lol
Yes, hehe, and it makes us buy the silliest things! 🤦♀️😉
@@KimBedene thank you
I have denim jeans, skirts, jackets and shorts because they are on everyone’s must-have lists.
I'm going to watch this vid every morning for whole month - lets see, if I could survive, without new perfume every few days :)
Sounds great! 😊 I wish you the best, and let me know how you get on 😉
Would love to know where you are located. I’m in Canada.
I’m from Slovenia 😊
Please do a video on Home Decor minimalism. 😀😊😁
What exactly did you have in mind? 😁 I already did a minimalist bedroom and bathroom tour, which you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/bHQW-a1bpsM/w-d-xo.html Hopefully you can find some home decor inspiration from these videos 😍😘
Is it normal to impulse buy, as a regular shopper? Does impulse buying twice and more means you have impulsive buying behavior?
I think it's normal to buy things spontaneously once in a while, but when it becomes a compulsion or we buy things we don't use or need, then I would say we have to work on our shopping habits 😊 Hope this helps!
@@KimBedene Great, thanks a lot ! 💜
Goog advise.
I'm glad you liked it! 😊
Discounts get me every time 😂🙈😞
Hehe, yes, brands definitely know how to make us spend more 😂 But the good thing is, the more we say no, the easier it becomes 💁♀️😘
Fantasy version of my self..i don't understand..can you explain that to me..thank you
Yes, no problem 😊 Fantasy version of ourselves is when we fantasize about who we want to be, without any intention of becoming that way. So it's not actually something we truly want to be, just a fantasy that sounds great in our head. And when we shop for a fantasy version that will never come true, we're pretty much wasting our money because the items won't be used. I hope this helps, if not let me know and I can clarify a bit more 😘
Thank you..i think we all live with a fantasy version one way or the other .hard to be discerning ..its like not having a dream..what do you think?
@@tutorialyoni7862 Yes, I think we do 😊 But I absolutely agree that we should dream and better ourselves, but that is different from fantasy: fantasy self is something we aren't working on becoming, where a better self is something we're actively working on to become 😉🥰
@@KimBedene thank you for your time..im still confused there's a fine line..take care
@@tutorialyoni7862 No problem! 😊😘
That's how I shop now if it's not a 10 I'm not buying my brother think I'm too picky bc I make him return stuff from Amazon 😂
Wow, that's great!! 💁♀️ And I know what you mean, my husband felt a bit weird at first when I often didn't buy anything when shopping - but now he's used to it, hehe 😉
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such nonsense
Great tips!!
