Deck dono here, thanks for making the deck! Not as competitive as I initally thought, but man it looked fun to play. Wonder if a modern port would be viable. Thanks again Phil!
Random comment about the sponsor: the first time you ever had a video sponsored by them, I ended up buying like 5 shirts and they’re some of the best t shirts I own.
I feel like it's a templating mistake. I think the ability was meant to only trigger twice total, not twice per creature. Like Oko levels of comprehension about the full capabilities of the card during testing.
@@cjweezil5206There's no way that wasn't intended. If they wanted it to be just twice per turn there's no reason for Nadu to give the ability to everything. But it does, and there's just no way that isn't deliberate.
Pillage the Bog is a really good card in this archetype. it's functionally Dig Through Time in the early turns and Demonic Tutor in the later stages of the game. and being able to plot it if you already have a bunch of things to do is never really that bad either
28 minutes in, you had a way out phil! Bowmaster to ping 3/1, green sun for grist, sac army to kill 7/5. On upkeep there are 4 creatures to eat with scavenging ooze. Bowmaster chumps batterskull on recruiter. Not a guarantee, but you get another turn and like 5 more looks. Also could yorion blink ring on your next turn, assuming OPPO bricked on draw.
I honestly kinda like the wall of blossoms inclusion. Its green for force of vigor, and cultivation, is a reasonable flicker target for yorion, and can buy time against some decks to let you get to your bomb plays. Granted, the entire archetype is sketchy, but its fun yaknow
@@namingtaiahassr3240 I thought of this too, but only a couple other cards in the deck are actually good with yawgmoth. Maybe the strategy is to kinda replicate the modern yawgmoth builds except with veteran explorer and a few things higher on the curve
After 19:55 is there a reason not to cycle vexing bauble in search of swords etc? I might be missing something. Also cool sponsor! I just picked up a shirt as a gift using your code.
Hey Phil! Love the Into the AM shirts. They look great, but how do they hold up? I find a lot of graphic tees die super quickly, either from decals wearing away or the material developing holes. How have yours been?
In the deck tech with the first deck you say you can get the mana push turn 2, but you can easily go turn 1 Explorer->Flare->Bowmasters turn 2 gargaroth, and this will absolutely destroy some decks i belive because many decks dont play basics at all
When I tried out Flare Fit, I did base green, splash two colors. Considered Naya for Forth, but wasn't happy with the lack of good ways to kill Veteran Explorer. I stuck with classic Jund, splashing for Bowmasters and Mawloc. I think Legacy has left Cabal Therapy behind and Flare gave me the excuse I needed to cut it.
Do you think there is any way/reason to do a Nic fit list that maybe plays wasteland and a small lands package? I’m really interested in the idea of flare+explorer+white of the reliquary but it might just be bad haha
I wonder if in R2G1 you should play out the Sheoldred and if they try to Karakus you you draw in response to gain life, there was 8 life on the table plus whatever scoozy could get you. seemed like you could last another turn maybe.
Cool video as always. I have a question. I was wondering whether you give a lot of thought to when you are playing and cracking fetch lands? It seems like you often want to play and / or crack them at the latest opportunity. I haven’t played much legacy but I know that in modern you almost always want to play and crack them as soon as possible for deck thinning purposes . Is that something you consider ?
In Legacy, most decks do it the opposite way because the shuffle itself is valuable and you want to time that shuffle at the best possible time. But that's just "most" decks - I agree this one probably should follow the modern rule and crack faster. But when you've built a habit it can be really hard to break that habit.
Nadu really feels like a kid designs it to have no weakness So the lands entered taps? No oh So I can punish the draws? No shit I can at least remove it before it triggers? What I can't I guess I will still bolt it... oh it a 3/4 Edict a it encourages token and fodder And it as flying just because
Should never have been printed. Format warping, power creep dialed to 11. Those cards you bought 6 years ago? Don't expect them to hold up to the current iteration of sets. It's sad that WOTC hasn't banned it and admitted their mistake.
@@thengine7 Nadu isn't as broken as Cephalid Illusionist. Whenever Grief gets banned, Breakfast no longer loses to incidental graveyard hate and becomes extremely scary. The ability to goldfish on turn 2 is much more powerful than Nadu being a late game grindy engine. The deck being able to play long in addition to fast shores up one of the major weaknesses it used to have.
Most boardwipes are Sorcery speed. On a good draw, Nadu decks can win the same turn they play the Nadu so there's never an opportunity. (The earliest Nadu lists had to pass the turn but they're adapting quickly.)
He explains at the end that one reason for it is to be able to play a lot of basics while also playing enough duals for all of the colors in the early game.
When you evolutionairly adept to the lack of basic lands by evolving a veteran explorer on your hands and you have evolutionairy fitness (no idea who this nick is)
Even if Nadu doesn't deserve a ban on power level alone, it definitely deserves a ban for making the game annoying and boring, like when they banned Top or Ironworks for time reasons
Nadu being a nondeterministic solitaire combo piece is really annoying. Not really overpowered in Legacy, but still a card I really wish hadn't seen print (also something something WOTC and 1UG cards)
Every Nadu match in every format is completely unwatchable. Really hope they just suck it up and get rid of that horrible card from every single format. Sigh. Noc fit is cool though, hope you continue to explore it:)
"You like Basic Lands, don't you? Nic-Fitter."
I'm imagining Pyscho Mantis saying this to you while reading your memory card.
Daddy likes.
I _do_ like budget legacy lists
🥴
19:45, The One Ring was hooking you up with that green mana you wanted, such a helpful little guy.

Bro that was a hilarious build. Very enjoyable to watch. I might try it at my LGS.
I was definitely expecting a "nic-fit deez nuts" joke with that intro
on 44:00 you could buyback either bowmaster or pernicious with six and dryad
Random comment about the sponsor: the first time you ever had a video sponsored by them, I ended up buying like 5 shirts and they’re some of the best t shirts I own.
Obviously I'm being paid for the plug, but I legit love their stuff. They are really comfy.
Near 43:49, i think there was a line where you could retrace bowmasters with the dryad arbor in hand.
your sponsers must have a good through-rate
always genuine and glad to see support worth supporting
At this point, I'm starting to wonder if wizards knows how to make a 1UG legend that isn't totally broken
3 out of 16 isn't that bad...right?
They just think 1UG is a difficult cost to cast.
They do it on purpose to sell product at the cost of long term game health.
Depends on the format. Uro is fine for legacy.
@@JohnFromAccounting Oko wasn't :)
Nadu was a mistake in my opinion
Its pretty clear it was a mistake. Unfun, time consuming card. Just the type of card that could be considered a mistake.
I feel like it's a templating mistake. I think the ability was meant to only trigger twice total, not twice per creature. Like Oko levels of comprehension about the full capabilities of the card during testing.
@@cjweezil5206 you’d think the Wizards play testers would have figured this out from the word go.

The fact that in the best case scenario where you are able to remove it right away your opponent stays card neutral and you go -1 is just disgusting.
Pillage the Bog is a really good card in this archetype. it's functionally Dig Through Time in the early turns and Demonic Tutor in the later stages of the game. and being able to plot it if you already have a bunch of things to do is never really that bad either

This deck is sweet but sometimes I pine for the format where powering out hornet queen was something you wanted to try.
Nadu is going to get the hammer across the board. Hate it when WOTC makes a card that is unplayable due to being too good.
It will 100% get banned in modern, but it's not doing anything especially nuts in legacy because it requires setup and can still whiff.
Nadu's current form genuinely feels like a printing error, especially with how specific "twice per turn per creature" is
At 43:57 Dryad Arbor counts as a land? Could you have discarded it with Six and retraced Deed?
@ 44:00, why not use retrace from six to play pernicious deed from the yard instead of playing dryad arbor?
At 37:28 when he says "Yorion to hand; you got it" and then instantly cuts to his deck I really thought he had just conceded off of that lmao
is arboreal grazer not a direction that can be taken to make flare better?
I still think young wolf would be a better option. slot in a couple yawgmoths and the drawing could start happening on turn 2
@@namingtaiahassr3240 I thought of this too, but only a couple other cards in the deck are actually good with yawgmoth. Maybe the strategy is to kinda replicate the modern yawgmoth builds except with veteran explorer and a few things higher on the curve
Round two Game 3, why play the dyrad arbor, didnt you have lines with play six, discard arbor for something?
It's me. I'm sickos.

One more question, what are your impressions of gruff triplets in Nic fit after having played it?
Nadu should not have been printed. Anyone who disagrees either doesn't understand or doesn't give a shit about game health/balance.

Is there is a specific Nadu hate card out there? Nothing comes to mind other than going after both the equipment and the en-kor activated abilities
Dress down locks it down for a turn, Linvala while not good can turn off abilities
Harsh mentor works decently
Force of Will.

Why didn't you draw with vexing bauble round 1 g3?? You might've hit a swords or something
5 minute nadu turns woo!
At the end of Round 1 it feels like you forgot that you can cycle bauble for a card. Maybe the next card would not have been a land this time!
Are boardwipes too slow for legacy? They seem like the best answer for Nadu, especially something like a Supreme Verdict
Control plays boardwipes all the time its prob because mh3 just came out and its hard to make control lists while the meta isnt stabilized

We ❤ a silly opening bit
Single halfling rather than ignoble is odd, no?
@Phil you forgot you had Yorion in the deck as an additional threat
Never mind, finally saw you put Yorion in hand round 2! 😅
That last game was a cruel joke
I love the deck and i Dream of nic fit. But why yorion? I want the most of veteran i can get no? Aniway loved It thx
