Gofltec student here. This was one of many issues my coach helped me correct. My ah ha moment was when I had a slight pause at the top of my backswing and dropped my hands downwards. Had 6 lessons so far and dropped my average score by 8 strokes.
I noticed that my over the top swing was caused by my dominant right eye ( right handed) when I start working on keeping my left eye looking slightly behind ball, let my shoulders turn farther around on backswing, now swing under plane. Simple setup change 😊
Amazing video gents. Maybe because I'm at this point in swing development...but you guys exactly demonstrated what I've had in my mind while out practicing.
guys, so at about 11:50 they talked about turning the left arm too much at set up for a strong grip and that it could cause open clubface at impact because of not being able to supinate the left arm which i suffer from at times. are they saying the grip can be too strong?
Hey Steve, thanks for the view and comment. What he was referring to is the more the lead hand gets ontop of the grip "stronger" that it makes it harder to release the club path inside the target line. Meaning it will force the path to stay more in-to-out leading to more hook spin if you have the face shut to that path. He's referring to the path of the clubhead not the face being released there.
Hey Big Gun, Brad Thorberg here with GOLFTEC. Thanks for the view and comment. Glad you found some value from this and thanks for being a student! Keep working hard
Great video!!! Really wish my local Golftec coach would’ve explained things to me like this and actually helped me improve, instead I received 10 of the same lessons with little to no improvement
Hi David, Brad Thorberg here with GOLFTEC. First off thanks for the view and the feedback. I'm sorry you didn't see the improvement you were looking for with your coach. I'd be happy to take a look at your last few lessons and offer some help.
I find searching through TH-cam is 100x cheaper than paying for a swing coach. I video myself then after that I compare my swings, side by side comparison videos.
SB808, Brad Thorberg here with GOLFTEC. Thanks for the view and the comment. Free is always cheaper than paying for something, and with the great free content out there, I've seen golfers make some excellent headway for sure. Glad you are finding value in some of our content. A coach can help speed up a student's progress when it comes to reaching their goals. For example, most people who have never changed the oil in a vehicle before could spend an hour or two watching videos and then buy the oil and parts and tools, then crawl under their car, and most would be able to figure it out eventually. Some might mess it up and create more problems, but most should be able to figure it out. But was the 3-5 hours of their time worth it vs. 1hr with the mechanic? So it comes down to how a person values their time, values instant feedback, proven coaching, and direction. I have no doubt a large percentage of golfers could jump on TH-cam and get enough information to fix, say, a slice. It might take them a month, a few months, maybe an entire season, when a proven coach who has cured thousands of slices could do it in under an hour.
Hey Rob, Brad Thorberg here with GOLFTEC. Thanks for the view and comment. I love Bruce's swing. I'd say he is far from "over-the-top," but he does come slightly out-to-in and plays a slight pull fade that's very controlled. Golf is very much a game of ranges and angles, and Bruce does a great job of repeating and owning his and keeps it to just a slight angle out-to-in for the most part.
@@GOLFTECLessonsFittings glad to hear that you think one of the best Natural ball strikers ever has a great swing...... my only point is Craig Stadler bruce and a hand full of others would have been ruined by modern golf's obsession with what at times seems to be a one size fits all method....... Im not meaning any disrespect or have any disdain for you your company or any human, i respect all the teachers of this great game
Hey Rob, Brad again and I agree! That's what I love so much with the evolution of GOLFTEC. How we map out a plan with our students that is based around their goals and frustrations vs cookie-cutter swings, and it's based on facts. Getting students to their goals ASAP vs just making good-looking swings, is the priority.
??Why don’t you talk about the hands. The only difference between the two swings is how the hands and wrists are holding the club at a different angle on the way back and through If like to see a video tracking hand path Thanks
thanks for the view and feedback. We do have a few videos talking hand path th-cam.com/video/pb4-2SkTh98/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/XaMc47vSfaM/w-d-xo.html
Why would Brad not just weaken his grip a little? There’s no way I would play golf that way, with every single shot going that far left, without tweaking my grip. Strong grips require tons of hip rotation, with tons of right side bend. Brad is pretty average in both of those categories, which is fine. But, for Gods sake…. Weaken your grip a little. Your grip is all about how it matches up with your swing. Don’t fight your swing, to try and match it to your grip. He could hit a beautiful little push/draw with ONE TWEAK.
You make some good points Jamie that are correct. Brad is a former long drive guy and hasn't put in the work to make the grip change just yet. Goal of this video was more about the hand path as it relates to the "over-the-top" move in golf then so much improving Brad's swing.
@@GOLFTECLessonsFittings I read my comment, and I apologize. It sounded like I was trolling on him. I honestly wasn’t. I was saying it with positivity, because he obviously has an amazing swing, with TONS of potential. It just bugs me to watch a great ball striker, hit the same EXACT miss. Like I say…. All of those shots could be a beautiful push/draw finishing dead center at the target, with a very simple tweak. I absolutely love your content! And you’re right…. This has NOTHING to do with the context of this video. Sorry. lol

I like the sarcastic, condescending comments. Makes it fun and real. Good information.
