This is by FAAAAR the best video of oil change of cbr300r. Everyone else's misses one thing or many things including the damn tools needed ( facepalm).
Thank you so much , that’s a great tutorial , I learned a lot . Now I’m trying to replaced the kickstand switch and I don’t know where to start . A video on that will be greatly appreciated. In advance a big THANK YOU ! Subscribed!😀
Thank you for showing which screws go where. We just did an R6 shock swap and in the process mixed up the shouldered screws... Ours were missing the rubber washer on a couple, which explains everything.
Very nice and helpful video! I'm going to try changing my oil soon as my 300 is getting close to 3k miles. I hope it goes smoothly and will be rewatching this video as I do it.
Good! I tried four times to remove all the fairing, but never successedl! Hope you can do it and upload the entire operation process! Thank You Very Much!
@14:14 😑that is the bolt that is rounded out on my bike. I've already successfully changed the oil but now I'm trying to change the oil filter on my 2017 Honda Cbr300r but cannot due to this bolt being so severely rounded out. Do you have any advice on how to extract it???
Very detailed video! I think I’m going to use a hole saw and drill holes Then line the edges with some rubber trim. That’s a lot of work to get to the oil filter and drain plug.
I could for the love of god not get one of the screws out, the one near the header. However I managed to get all the other ones out, and it was enough to peel back the fairing so that I could access the oil filter. Have to be careful not the crack it.
I was able to access the bolt without doing anything... BUT I scuffed up the fairing and was so pissed off. I see why you need to remove it now. I left the bolt off cause I don't need that shit. Honda get with it!
We'll check it later with a torque wrench? Why not just use it now...? Also you might want to take the filter back off and install the filter spring, without out it most of the oil will bypass the filter, plus once a crush washer is crushed it's done, just get a new one they are cheap. But other than that nice step by step tutorial.
thank you for this video, if it wasn't for that i wouldn't have been able to do my oil change...much appreciated!!!! one last question though, when the bike is turned off the oil level is good, but when i turn the bike on, the oil almost disappears from that little gauge window. when I turn it off the oil goes to the normal level....is that normal?
Hi Bruce. Sometimes you have to level the bike to see a true oil reading. As long as you filled 1.4 to 1.5 liters you're good to go. When the bike is on - the system is using the oil so the level won't show properly. When the bike is off the oil is resting. This is when you want to check the level. As long as it is at the right level and the oil is clean all is good. I hope this helps.
it seemed like he poured too much oil into his bike. 1.5l with oil filter change. but as you added to oil filter. you might need another 1.4l the same amount changing oil without changing oil filter required. and even in Thailand 10w30 is used as original factory maintenance program after sale.
After I put the oil and turned on the bike how long until the oil settles down after I turned the bike off. So I can see how much to add after the oil is in the filter.
Oil is dripping from the filter area but I've tied the screws as recommended by manual. Is it normal that it's dripping the first couple of times I've turn on the bike?
Will putting 15w50 motul 300v is good? I live in a country where its hot most year around, usually 35c degress and up. what does the owner manual says?
Going to do my first oil change this weekend. I've had the bike for a little over a year (the dealer did the first pre-winter oil change). Im selling the bike in the spring for a new, bigger bike. Is it worth it to go through the pain in the ass of removing fairings/changing filter, or is changing the oil sufficient. Granted, I'm going to garage it soon (i'm in new hampshire) and will sell it early spring
Hi Jonathan 4,5 and 6 metric hex/Allen key. They come in most sets. I have a set that came with my socket set. If you don't have any it's a good investment. They under $20. Make sure they're metric. Amazon has them too. These will do. I pasted a link below. The kind that attach to a screwdriver is good too. Good luck. www.amazon.ca/dp/B00I5TH074/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1977604522&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0025ZA3EQ&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=3R4SFP3GPCC4P1E02W7X
I just could not take the drain bolt off, and broke my socket wrench while trying. Then tried to tighten it a bit more but, not sure if i could do enough or not.... :( So for those who really wants to take that drain bolt off, get a big long socket wrench.....
Hi, I bought the cbr300 about two months ago. i am currently at 1100km and it was recommended to change the oil at 1000 (which I will do as soon as possible) I now use my car in fear of overusing my bike. do I need to change the filter for the first oil change, or can I only change the oil? thank you
Hi Alexandre. Don't worry about not riding your bike. It will be fine. The service manual recommends the oil and filter be changed the first time around. You'll want to change the filter because bits of metal and debris will be caught in the filter. This is normal and part of the break-in period. I recommend you change both the oil and the filter. You can order all the parts you need online. I have a list of the OEM parts in the description to help you out. Good luck!
Hi Bruce. Yes you can. The only difference I saw between model years is the color. The oil and filter change is the same. The fairing removal is the hard part and they come off the same way. Good luck.
Hi True Stuka. (I like the handle) It depends on where you take the bike. The dealer will always be a little more. Oil and Filter change may run you $100+. I know someone who paid $140. They'll do a chain clean and lube up all the moving parts. A straight oil change is easy to do and fun to do. No fairing removal. You don't really need to take the fairing off if you want to change the filter...just pull back the lower fairing to get at the bolts. I took it off because I don't want to risk cracking it. That's me. If you have tools the cost of an oil change is your time and $15 in oil.
Thanks for the like. You're right you don't need to take off all the fairings. But some people who are new to motorcycles are afraid to break or crack the fairings so this video shows you how to take them off. Once you have that hidden bolt off you can actually pull back a lower Fairing and take off the oil filter.
I’ve never done maintenance on anything in my life, this was so helpful thank you
great job but you forgot to put the spring back in with the filter,
I forgot to add my spring too! what should I do! I feel like all the oil will spill out if i take the filter out again
It only leaks a few drips. Nothing to speak of really.

tpcs this one missed putting the spring back in with the filter. Doh!

Yoo, just looked this up on google to see how to change my oil and you have the same bike, right down to the color. Thanks for the help!
Thank you for showing which screws go where. We just did an R6 shock swap and in the process mixed up the shouldered screws... Ours were missing the rubber washer on a couple, which explains everything.
Awesome thanks! With this guide I was able to take the right side off so I could run the cable for my gear indicator. Thanks.

Ouch the filter pressure spring!
I noticed that the oil filter spring wasn’t put back after the oil change
Was wondering when you put the oil filter spring back in. Others noticed as well.
First class presentation

Thank you. That was very Time consuming vs my car

Is it normal that it's dripping the first couple of times I've turn on the bike?
Manual says to use SAE 10W-30, can you tell me why you used SAE 10W-40? What is the difference?
Will putting 15w50 motul 300v is good?
I live in a country where its hot most year around, usually 35c degress and up. what does the owner manual says?
Does the oil from the glass window disappear when you start the bike? Because I’m scared I didn’t put enough in
Did you tilt the bike so that it was bolt upright when checking the oil level (as opposed to checking while the bike is on the side stand)?

Hi Patrick. If haven't written much just change the oil.
🙌 THANK U FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION!
What Allan kit do you have??? I'm not very familiar with tools. I'm learning.

Wow Nice Honda Cbr 250R My Bike
Would be nice to have a video about actual middle cowl removing and putting it back. In case you need to flush coolant, install crash pads etc.
How often should I do a oil change ?
I just could not take the drain bolt off, and broke my socket wrench while trying. Then tried to tighten it a bit more but, not sure if i could do enough or not.... :( So for those who really wants to take that drain bolt off, get a big long socket wrench.....
Todo bien hasta que olvidó el resorte del filtro...

Any tips on taking out the windshield?
You got to press this little hook at the tip, was a bitch to take out. took me awhile LOL
thanks
This is such a great little bike but HONDA really blew it by covering up the oil filter cover. This should have been easy.
Totally agree! I changed my engine oil but cannot get to mt filter 😑i might have to get that part professionally done
could I use this tutorial for the 2016 model ?
Hi Bruce. Yes you can. The only difference I saw between model years is the color. The oil and filter change is the same. The fairing removal is the hard part and they come off the same way. Good luck.
am i tripping or did he forget to put the spring back on
What's the cost to have a dealer do it

Cool Dad Reviews thank you
ill give you a like but you can change oil filter w/o removing fairing.
