The need to make more space in the foot wells and maybe put more batteries under the seat squab. The silly noise profiles should be ditched asap
These big ev 's are all well and good if you have fast charging in your area where you live. UK have a long way to go to get charging out to the countryside. This has to be my favourite electric car at the moment with the Audi etron gt code behind. Thanks Thomas for another brilliant and informative review.
I think the design suffers massively from the paris-syndrome: an amazingly beautiful concept got everyone's expectations extremely high and now we are presented with an aerodynamicly efficient bar of soap. I would glady sacrifice 20% range to get the looks close to the Vision eqs. Team ugly on the exterior. Maybe a shooting brake would save it?
Much more interesting (and better) than the very old Model S. The recently introduced base model EQS 350 is a good value for money proposition. The other versions are quite expensive.
This is an excellent looking and smooth driving car. I traded my model 3 performance in for an EQS 450+ and it turns heads wherever I've taken it. I'm able to use my Tesla home garage charger with an adapter with no problems. The self-driving / auto pilot capabilities are superb and on par or even better than my Tesla. 100% charge is giving me 418 miles of drive time. And there are brick and morter dealer service centers with actual humans who answer the phone if you call... if your looking for the best uncomplicated quiet creature comfort, class, high tech, build quality and head turning luxury in a 4 door sedan, you won't be disappointed with an EQS. And it even came with a steering wheel...
Considering buying one of these nowadays. I currently own an S-class, one of these with 3.0 inline-6 petrol engines, giving me around 450 bhp with EQ Boost. Roughly speaking, with the current govt incentives in the UK, I can own an EQS for pretty much the same cost. I use it for the long drives, usually roaming in Europe and most of the time it is high speed cruising (~210 km/h) in German autobahns. Having owned an Audi e-tron as a second car, I really liked the electric cars, it is so silent. However, I haven't driven any electric cars outside the UK, and I can't reliably test an electric car in the UK due to extremely low speed limits (114 km/h in motorways). This was exactly what I was looking for. Also, I'm hearing heat pump thing for the first time honestly, didn't know if that helped that much for the efficiency. All around, EQS is definitely not an S-class comfort, only slightly better than an E-class, and that's mostly due to added equipment but not the car itself. Hopefully they'll figure out high-speed efficient driving for the electric cars in near future, but that day clearly hasn't come yet. Thanks for the review, saved me from a lot of hassle.
Appreciated! Only get the EQS as soon as they fit it with the heat pump (will come up soon) also check if animal-free seats are available in your market. Also enjoy this episode: th-cam.com/video/OQimk0zzn6M/w-d-xo.html
@Autogefühl I'm honestly happy with the Nappa leather at the moment, and I'll probably continue to do choosing so since my experience was pretty bad in the long run with synth leather. Heat pump seems to be a crucial fit, though.
Also could you give more details on vegan interiors specially the characteristics of some and if is more of mycelium, bamboo, catus, tomato or others used depending on the brands availability, i like when you put that emphasis, thanks you for the review!!!
Excellent Mercedes vehicle. I love everything about the EQS. Now to convince my wife to spend the money. We have a Model Y Performance on order should arrive soon.
While i agree its strange it doesn’t feature a heatpump , it must be a reason for it. Heatpumps are only efficient within a limited temp range and isnt a solution for everything in winter. But i would love to here the Mercedes engineers explain why!
@Daniel Eriksson: Heatpump is no magic stuff. In most of the user cases the heat pump will not impact range as much as you wish it should. On short trips for example the heat pump is no benefit at all. At medium trips like 50km the effect is also rather small as the saving effect only sets in after the cabin is already at a solid steady temperature and this takes like 20 or even 30 minutes. I mean in the car it is warm fast, like 2 minutes, but it does not mean that the cabin ambient temperature is already at a steady state. It is just that warm because the heater is working quite hard continously. And even if the cabin is warm the saving effect is in only in the best case factor 3. So if you spend 1,5kW with PTC at 10°C you would spend 0,5 kW with heat pump. At autobahn speed this would mean you have 1 kWh/100km less consumption. And that is already the best possible case. Usual case around zero degree or below the difference is factor 2 or less, so less than 1kWh/100km saved. Not impressive at all. One case where it really can shine is in combination with LFP accumulator because LFP likes it warm and is very warm after charging. So it can continously scavenge the heat from charging. That is one reason why Tesla Model 3 SR is a very efficient winter car. For EQS however engineers decided to not fit the heat pump because accumulator size is so big and the gain of a heat pump is negligible. As i said, just 1 kWh/100km on Autobahn in best condition which would mean instead of 436km range you have 454km.
@@FreeMountainTom Thank you ! That was what I suspected. Is it also so that the heatpump has no use when heating up the battery since that is Liquid cooled and needs PTC heaters, snd heatpump is air to air?
First, I like very much your videos and comments! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Concerning the EQS styling, more I see it more I get used to the design. Some less interesting things are: the lack of front trunk as the competition have. Would have been the perfect location for storing washing window fluid bottle, electrical connector, etc., why no rear wiper? Here in Quebec, Canada, that is very useful during winter season!! And AWD is the best option here! Otherwise, I wished to have a budget to buy one!
Egs was just tested here in Norway, the 4wd EQS580 and it went over 500km before it stopped with temperature from 0 celsius to -10 celsius and semiwet roads. So Thomas estimate here is not representative.
Hello Thomas, I am located in Korea. Bought my eqs 580 suv in May 2023, 17k km passed. Had problem with the 12v battery(malfunction) 3 times. Three times in a cold weather with the temperature between -5~ -12 C degrees, the car didn’t start. So 3 times my car was towed to the benz official service centers. Have you ever heard about recall and replacement the car with the new? What do you think is it theoretically possible? Thank you in advance for your opinion.
I am not in love with the new design, but you have to admire the purpose behind this design. If all Vehicles took this shape for aero purposes all cars will look alike.
Hello Thomas. Why on earth has Mercedes changed the Konsole between the seats? Some years ago they had the ingenious lock that you could open from both the front seats but now it splits open; hence, you have to dig deeper to get the stuff from the bottom.
Meanwhile where I live there are literally 0 public chargers and the cheapest EV available (the Nissan Leaf) goes for the equivalent to 60k USD (thanks taxes)
@@Carfan678 because Argentina is not the US, we have 0 infrastructure, and EV's cost 3x what they cost in the civilized world. All with salaries that are 12 times lower (assuming minimum salaries, 5 days work weeks on 9 to 5 jobs), it would be 200/month compared with 2400/month. Even taking into account cost of living, you have less ability to save up and stuff lile cars cost way more.
@@S85B50Engine I never understood that tbh the richer the country the cheaper cars are the poorer countries charge an arm and leg for a vehicle. Like a $60k Mercedes in the us is like $130k for ppl in India like why
here the engineers won every argument with the designers (also engineers). i dont mind the way it looks. i think the next will be a lot more polarizing now that we have accepted what the future looks like. the inside is so good because its a distraction from the outside looks... i absolutely want one.
Tomas i saw in a review of EQS that there is an option in the infotainment about the one pedal drive and there is an option "creep on or off" when you have it on "OFF" position then the car stops and is not rolling , can you pls tell me if that's true?? Thanksss I really love this car!!!!!!!!!!
Yes thats true. Turn off creep and place setting on "strong recuperation" and the car stops when you release the accelerator pedal. One foot driving is what you have.... works quite well....
Thomas. Why dont you review any flexfuel cars? Isnt there any E85 fuel stations in your country? Weird if not available considering the fact that E85 is renewable, significantly higher octane, cleaner burning and better for environment while also being cheaper fuel(despite bit higher consumption) than fossil gasoline, diesel in many countries. Flexfuel technology allows drivers to choose anything from regular gasoline up to high ethanol content fuels like E85(85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) for their cars.
I would label its styling "bland", which is not to say that I don't like it. The rubber plug over the DC fast charger port could have been better designed.
Team ugly. Thank you Thomas for an enjoyable demonstration of a first generation technical success. One for wealthy early adopters. The exterior shape should be less aerodynamic and more visually interesting as the vehicle will be mostly driven at low speed. The MBUX interface is intrusive. The car looks powerful and would be fun to own, but it is too expensive, and will have severe depreciation. I prefer my 2021 E class petrol sedan.
I think this car is still need to be developped. BMW IX or is more stable on high speed no vibration looks better design and better artificial sound also solid build up. This one is a fancy with technology and screens but it feel not well put together. Thank you Tomas
If Mercedes had simply ordered the battery in Korea, it would be 600-900V or so. 50% larger than EV6 and Ioniq 5 would end up at about the same capacity. 300 kW rather than 200 kW. And 10-80% in 18-20 minutes. Mercedes just didn't exactly ace it with the battery charging.
I never understood the required default settings on Mercedes. If I want it on regen all the time, then it should always be on that mode until I change it. Its the same with the current S class and other models. I always want it in eco engine mode, but it constantly defaults to comfort. That's really irritating. It would be like every time you restarted your phone it would automatically set to default with all the annoying sounds and what not. WHY????
The longness makes a interesting design, is kinda growing on me, the front idk what makes it look strange maybe the hood but the future aero style is cool, and i withdraw my coment that it looked overstyled with the grills, compared to the rest of the body. Also love that color!!
First i did not like the design, but after a test drive and seeing it in real, i am fan of this car and the design. To be honest, a long hood now looks a bit strange to me.
Great video as always 👍. Unfortunately too expensive. Waiting for the electric a class. As for the extra money they want for rear axle steering, that is just absurd. I also read somewhere that it is more like a subscription and after the initial payment you then have to pay also yearly. Is it true??
Nah Thomas, the 75-80kwh battery packs wouldn't be about full already in 20 mins, because as we all know they slow down real fast once u get to 90%. And also a big slow down after 80. Anyway, 10-80% in 32-33% is very good, on par with the best right now (I think Tesla Plaid can do that too, with its older battery design).
what I meant is: Both Mercedes EQS and Kia EV6 / Tesla Model Y do 10-80 % in 30 Minutes. But in these 30 Minutes the EQS charges 80 kWh instead of 54 kWh like with the smaller vehicles, that was the point :)
@@autogefuehl yes sure, the engineers can allow super fast speeds for any battery ... with the high risk of causing damage ;) That's what it's all about. Someone can try to claim bragging rights (like Porsche did with the Taycan when it first launched, 350KW), to try to get some street cred, but then have to really consider the dangers, and in that example, Porsche after 2 weeks changed it back to "maximum 270KW speed of charge" :) Actually, it was 2 weeks after the Tesla conference call where an analyst asked Musk at the end in the Q&A section "What are your comments about Porsche beating you guys to 350KW speed for charging?" Must replied "you can't do 350, it'll melt the battery". Sure enough we saw that same month Porsche redact their marketing number ;)
@@raheeb1 The battery is concurrently charged (in parallel). It won't melt. Parallelisation comes with extra cost for the charging computation hardware. Lotus Eletra can do 350 kWh charging nowadays, not risky at all.
Here before the Tesla fanboys talking about "muh acceleration" on their faux luxury cars. Seriously, features like HUDs, eye tracking, good quality control and such should be standard on cars that cost as much as Teslas do, not something they don't even offer.
@@autogefuehl I have watch all your reviews on both the iX and the EQS, i just wanted your opinion on which one you thought was the better car. I did a test drive of the iX this week and really liked it, however i have only sat in the EQS but not driven it. The only let down for me was the seating position in the rear. I currently drive a 2021 mercedes S class (not the latest shape) so I guess its not a fair comparison for the rear seats but these cars are very expensive so they need to look after the rear passengers better in my opinion.
@@autogefuehl Thomas, you cannot navigate to the charger to preheat, you have to navigate to a destination beyond and let the car "intelligence" plan a charging stop or else it thinks it is your final destination where you then slow charge or something. At least this is the common opinion from recent tests. 🤷
@@abraxastulammo9940 Really? I ll meet Mercedes EV guys next week and try to bring some light... in any case, I drove the battery "warm" before charging
As to design, this car needs to be “blacked out”. Doesn’t look good with chrome. As to the touch-controls you get used to it so it’s not a big issue. For me I would buy this car due to big cargo space and highest child security on the market. Definitely 450+, in black with night package
As a owner of an EQS 450+ and living in Sweden I can say that the Consumption figures you state can be true if you are not paying attention to what is causing the higher consumption. Mercedes electric cars HVAC system gets warm very quickly and is doing this to protect also the battery which they prioritise in default setting, the drawback is that it uses a lot of energy. Luckily the EQS has ECO and ECO plus settings in the HVAC, which is extremely useful and makes it possible to have near summer consumption in winter, if you can stand having a bit colder in the cabin. In ECO plus it only uses the drivetrains heat to heat up the car, no PTC heaters. So if you really need to have better range in winter you could. Otherwise great review as usual Thomas!
LOL, paying >150,000 € and have to freeze a bit in the winter🤣 This EQS with 108 kWh has the same range in the winter as a Tesla M3/MY with ~80 kWh battery at half the price🤦♂️
@@autogefuehl You can see the consumption differens direct in the ”realtime consumption ”gauge in the cluster when for freerolling downhill for ex. But yes driving short tripps with cold battery without preheating in freezing temp, I also get very high consumption. Its a big car with big battery to heat up. But it gets lower on longer trips fortunately.
@@channguyen3349 Yeah, but the Model 3/Y are like cheap chineses toys. The wood elements look like fake wood, the seat material feels like plastic, the missing HUD and speedometer are painfully annoying, the software is as slow as a computer from 1990 if you use the browser or Netflix and such. It is only fluid with the car settings and the map. The interior noise is very loud and the missing adjustment of recuperation is a real big flaw.
The consumption of 25kWh/100km in winter times is a bit disappointing. However, this is mainly because of the wet road in combination with the wide tires. It takes a lot of work (energy) to continously displace the water. Nearly all EV's have unfortunately that high consumption at motorway speeds in winter times when the roads are not dry. Exceptions would be Tesla Model 3 or BMW i3. BMW i3 cause of the narrow wheels. Doesn't suffer as much from the wet roads.
Good luck driving on +200 km/h with tyres narrower than 275 width. I'm currently driving a petrol car with 295/25R22 on rears and it does more than 650 km on those.
I can see as much as 250 wh/km in my Model 3 Standard range on the highway at 120 km/h in -25C temperatures. In 1C weather it is more like 180 wh/km. at +20C it is around 160 wh/km.
Wann bekommen die ('Premium') Hersteller endlich mal die Spiegelungen in der Frontscheibe in den Griff.. würde mich wahnsinnig aufregen bei so einer teuren Karre!
@@autogefuehl Well I did and based on that it seems like the consumption of the EV6 when driven like the EQS here would be sth like 23 kWh/100km which means 100km less range :/
Actually the EV6 has a heat pump and is therefore way more efficient than the EQS in winter! Range between EQS and EV6 will differ a lot in summer time, but not in winter!
@@autogefuehl To get to the 430km of range of the EQS the EV6 needs a consumption of 18 kWh. In winter. Sorry I'm not buying it. That's city/slow overland driving where total range is irrelevant. Drive this on the Autobahn next to the EQS and tell me again they have similar range. Not even close.
That should be possible with software update. Tesla model S recently got updated track mode. Can change power settings to front and rear axles. Not sure if Mercedes will do that? Maybe subscription along with rear wheel steering?
Hmm, I assumed the rear seat to be good. That ruins the car kind of. Maybe I really need to wait for Lucid Air. Huge frunk where EQS has none. More power for the money. Just not a lift back which I kind of feel is a much have. Who in their right mind wants a sedan really? And, why?
I don’t mind not having a frunk as I’ve been driving gas cars my entire life so it’s not a dealbreaker for me. Sedan shape is still much sexier to many ppl the gas powered S class is much prettier and has a better back seat. I also only drive sedans 😂 as they’re my preferred body style Lol
Excellent review. I always appreciate your take. I would be very interested to see you compare the Merc EQS to the new Tesla Model S. I just took delivery of the new Model S and Tesla has done an amazing job with the new interior. Not quite the quality of the German cars but getting much closer. Be interested to see what you think. I would glady sacrifice 20% range to get the looks close to the Vision eqs.
Team ugly on the exterior.
Maybe a shooting brake would save it?
Does the more silent at high speed S-Class also sit on 21" wheels? Of course it's lighter which helps.
Much more interesting (and better) than the very old Model S. The recently introduced base model EQS 350 is a good value for money proposition. The other versions are quite expensive.
Unless you travel in the back
This is an excellent looking and smooth driving car.
I didn’t like it at first but now I do. In person it is very good looking.
@Autogefühl All around, Lotus Eletra R seems to be a better option with the design, range, and the heat pump. Any plan for the reviews?
all depends on the quality grade
here s what we have so far: th-cam.com/video/diHIQE8mP7M/w-d-xo.html
24:10 wow do the front seats have ambient light bands in them?
yes they do
not only you should have dark floor mats, but also a dark trunk. I do love the light interior though.
Also could you give more details on vegan interiors specially the characteristics of some and if is more of mycelium, bamboo, catus, tomato or others used depending on the brands availability, i like when you put that emphasis, thanks you for the review!!!
"wait a minute, in 1930's...." 😱
hard to forget...
Excellent Mercedes vehicle. I love everything about the EQS. Now to convince my wife to spend the money. We have a Model Y Performance on order should arrive soon.
Great car the Y, but the EQS is the bomb... Apples and oranges really.. 60k verses 120k
I love the videos Thomas
So Mercedes-Benz goes to all of the trouble of including 3 screens, but chose not to fit a heat pump?! What?!!
Agree
@@danieleriksson8685 heat pump is better than no heat pump
First, I like very much your videos and comments! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Concerning the EQS styling, more I see it more I get used to the design. Some less interesting things are: the lack of front trunk as the competition have. Would have been the perfect location for storing washing window fluid bottle, electrical connector, etc., why no rear wiper? Here in Quebec, Canada, that is very useful during winter season!! And AWD is the best option here! Otherwise, I wished to have a budget to buy one!
thanks keep tuning in :)
Egs was just tested here in Norway, the 4wd EQS580 and it went over 500km before it stopped with temperature from 0 celsius to -10 celsius and semiwet roads. So Thomas estimate here is not representative.
The test was made on the motorway (90km/h)... Thomas is actually driving the car...
@@Laci441 yes but he didnt drive it until it actually stopped. Because thats what we did here in Norway.
I will say that I am with the team beautiful!
Regarding the seats: I have an EQC which I find very comfortable but the seats are NOT as comfortable as my Volvo seats in previous ICE cars.
I'm on team beautiful! I'm awaiting delivery of my 450+, can't wait!
enjoy!
I don't like the design, but I respect the design, because its form follows function.
I’m not surprised the range isn’t that good with all that ambient lighting!!! 😂😂 It does look very cool though….
😂
Hello Thomas. Why on earth has Mercedes changed the Konsole between the seats? Some years ago they had the ingenious lock that you could open from both the front seats but now it splits open; hence, you have to dig deeper to get the stuff from the bottom.
Do you think the will introduce an. EQS L or is this not really a replacement for the S Class - a car to be driven in more than to drive?
I like the wheels but they are not available in the UK?
Meanwhile where I live there are literally 0 public chargers and the cheapest EV available (the Nissan Leaf) goes for the equivalent to 60k USD (thanks taxes)
What country are u in cause I’m in the USA and there’s tons by me and more being built
@@Carfan678 because Argentina is not the US, we have 0 infrastructure, and EV's cost 3x what they cost in the civilized world.

I'm very tall and I agree we are discriminated against, we need better fitting seats for very tall drivers Mercedes come on
beautiful body design
I like the design. It is efficient and would increase the range, I am a Canadian so i need the range. Also its a car for local travel.
here the engineers won every argument with the designers (also engineers). i dont mind the way it looks. i think the next will be a lot more polarizing now that we have accepted what the future looks like. the inside is so good because its a distraction from the outside looks... i absolutely want one.
Why Mercedes do you not put the charge port on the driver side?? Everyday one have to walk around the car to insert/remove the charge cable. Not great
Tomas i saw in a review of EQS that there is an option in the infotainment about the one pedal drive and there is an option "creep on or off" when you have it on "OFF" position then the car stops and is not rolling , can you pls tell me if that's true?? Thanksss
I really love this car!!!!!!!!!!
Yes thats true. Turn off creep and place setting on "strong recuperation" and the car stops when you release the accelerator pedal. One foot driving is what you have.... works quite well....
Thomas,
Mercedes EQE test drive coming?
design wise something went wrong in moving from concept to production
Armadillo like look?
Man how do you add hyperscreen on 450+ version?
There's no option to add hyperscreen on 450+ version here in US.
Not sure. Might be market spec or might be configurator issue.
Btw the standard screen is easier to control imho!
Thomas, can you confirm one pedal driving to a standstill still does not work if you disable creep? I heard mixed reports.
I gotta re-check that in the menu, didnt know that you could adjust creeping. I ll check
one pedal driving works great all the way to a stand-still yes! simply tyrn off creep and turn on "strong recuperation" and your golden
I like the looks - sleek and modern 👍
I would label its styling "bland", which is not to say that I don't like it. The rubber plug over the DC fast charger port could have been better designed.
Team ugly. Thank you Thomas for an enjoyable demonstration of a first generation technical success. One for wealthy early adopters. The exterior shape should be less aerodynamic and more visually interesting as the vehicle will be mostly driven at low speed. The MBUX interface is intrusive. The car looks powerful and would be fun to own, but it is too expensive, and will have severe depreciation. I prefer my 2021 E class petrol sedan.
thanks for following!
Techno dude. Carte Blanche - Veracocha, that, was a long time ago.
I think this car is still need to be developped. BMW IX or is more stable on high speed no vibration looks better design and better artificial sound also solid build up. This one is a fancy with technology and screens but it feel not well put together. Thank you Tomas
Thanks 🙏 yeah also the missing heat pump is a fail
WHY????
Cheers Thomas
The longness makes a interesting design, is kinda growing on me, the front idk what makes it look strange maybe the hood but the future aero style is cool, and i withdraw my coment that it looked overstyled with the grills, compared to the rest of the body. Also love that color!!
First i did not like the design, but after a test drive and seeing it in real, i am fan of this car and the design. To be honest, a long hood now looks a bit strange to me.
I agree seats in back are soooo uncomfortable. My e320 2001 seats were like a couch. Im very upset that Mersades made bad choice.
Great video as always 👍. Unfortunately too expensive. Waiting for the electric a class. As for the extra money they want for rear axle steering, that is just absurd. I also read somewhere that it is more like a subscription and after the initial payment you then have to pay also yearly. Is it true??
Cheers! Hmm good question
Tesla Model S plaid review: th-cam.com/video/EffB45ISO9M/w-d-xo.html
@@raheeb1 The battery is concurrently charged (in parallel). It won't melt. Parallelisation comes with extra cost for the charging computation hardware. Lotus Eletra can do 350 kWh charging nowadays, not risky at all.
Here before the Tesla fanboys talking about "muh acceleration" on their faux luxury cars.
Seriously, features like HUDs, eye tracking, good quality control and such should be standard on cars that cost as much as Teslas do, not something they don't even offer.
Autogefuhl how would you compare the EQS to the bmw iX ?
best to check our review: th-cam.com/video/qBU5-2LTKj8/w-d-xo.html
@@autogefuehl I have watch all your reviews on both the iX and the EQS, i just wanted your opinion on which one you thought was the better car. I did a test drive of the iX this week and really liked it, however i have only sat in the EQS but not driven it. The only let down for me was the seating position in the rear. I currently drive a 2021 mercedes S class (not the latest shape) so I guess its not a fair comparison for the rear seats but these cars are very expensive so they need to look after the rear passengers better in my opinion.
Sadly missing is option 302, rear frontal airbags! Mercedes greatest contribution to safety in decades! Completely evanescent rationale!
Wasn’t that a 160 kW charging station? You can see at 0:39
That station even supports 350 kW. It’s written directly under the cable at the time code u mentioned. And we also went up over 180 kW shortly
Nah. Blacked out just looks ghetto.
great car, great design, terrible fake noise.

In my opinion, the 580 is much more fun because of the power. The 450 drives more like a combustion engine. No electro power feeling.

I'm on team "It's okay."
@@channguyen3349 Funny guy!😂
Interesting i ll try. So far energy consumption on short trips got even worse
Thomas, Hi, how is your Family name spelled in English?
My M3P 2020 pre heat pump can average upwards of 280-290 when going 80-120hm/h on winter roads -15 C to 0 C...
Where are more comfortable seats? S class or EQS? Thank you very much.

Well ? Check this out: th-cam.com/video/1rpS311emAQ/w-d-xo.html
Not even close.

i still think that is not a great package, comparing the length of wheelbase with the legroom
It's not my favorite Design, but much better than the CLS.
Team beautiful, like the car, new times ask for new design. I like it much more than recent ICE designs by Mercedes. But it’s a very personal thing.
They should make it possible to switch off the front motor in the 580 for more fun.
