Simoun (anime review)

Below is a loose, superficial plan of how I would remake Simoun:

First, gotta bring back the original planners and writers. These people have all the answers if they haven’t forgotten them. I want the details of the world fleshed out. These people can help with that. I want the remake to be a faithful one also. The influence of the original staff can help with that.
The only studio I can think of to give Simoun what I think it deserves would have to be Khara. I know those animators can work 2D and 3D animation together and that they can do it well. Simouns are aerial fighters, and I know the Khara animators can pull that off because of their work on the Eva Rebuilds. With Khara’s illustrative and animation talent, they are going to breathe so much life, splendor, and delight into the world of Simoun. It’ll look so damn gorgeous, you’re gonna wanna slurp up your screen. Even the shitass polluted wasteland of Argentum or whatever the fuck it’s called will look appealing to the eye. Just don’t open the anime with that gross-ass cityscape. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs a slap on the wrist. OPEN WITH SPECTACLE DAMMIT. THE HOLY LAND IS BEAUTIFUL. SHOW IT OFF. For sure gotta bring back the original background artists. That shit kinda went crazy. Especially the sky. Whoever illustrated the skies went fucking nutty.
Character design, I got no clue who ought to work on that, but I do know the designs would need a spot of updating. Clean up that 2000s hairstyling and cut down a tad on the clunkiness of the Simoun piloting suits. Gotta keep some clunk, though.
Soundtrack. Gotta bring back the original staff for that, too. Knowledge of the arrangements for the music is important. However, I also want to bring on Ryota Komatsu for the music. I liked his work on Tint with Taeko Onuki. GET THAT MAN IN THE STUDIO. He can do the world style of music that’s present in Simoun. Don’t let him forget the accordion. Keep the leitmotifs. I want character themes. I want to hear single-use tracks for very specific emotions that will define key scenes. Hell yeah! I’m ambitious with that shit! Oh, and just remaster the OP and ED, they’re both already great. Pretty much no change needed on that. If that ABSOLUTELY needs to change, bring in AiNA THE END for one of them. She’ll be a good fit. I still just want to keep the OP the same, though.
I’m sorry, Nishimura, but your directing doesn’t do anything for me. I think Simoun needs a wackier touch. Since I’m feeling a bit spicy with it-I want Shinbou’s directing. Not the Monogatari directing, but the Sangatsu directing. If you don’t think Shinbou’s a good pick, we can swap him out with the Utena and Penguindrum guy. But now that I think about it, we gotta put both these dudes in the same room right now. But if none of that works, we bring in the Casshern Sins guy, though I don’t know how I feel about that.
And the final secret ingredient that will see the Simoun remake project to its success…

This is all a great idea. Trust me. I should be allowed to produce anime or something.
Oh, but if it were up to me to bring back Simoun however the hell I wanted? I’d make that shit weird. I’d make it gayer, first off. Gotta lock that down. Still, want Khara. Still want Shinbou and Utena guy whose name I can’t fucking remember. I’d grab… fuck what was his name? I want the Xenoblade music guy to do the soundtrack. Yasunori Mitsuda, I just checked. I want that guy!
I want an original story. I’d like to write it myself, but I don’t know how to screenwrite. Shame. It’d be crazy if I could get a 50 episode anime for it, but, damn, I know I could never write something for that. I just have these ideas of how I would want to refocus the core ideas of Simoun into something I would find more personally appealing and fulfilling. I want to lean harder into the non-binary aspect of the sybillae. I want more SKY. More religious shit that reaches into divinity. I don’t know how to explain it, but I’ve just got a ton of dumbass ideas. Maybe this, too, will be added to my ever-growing list of things I should write fanfiction for?
