I think his main problem is he never bothered to build off of his haki like Luffy had...he had Conquers like he did, but just used it to threaten, or knock people out...he didn't even bother to ask himself about combining Armament with Conquers or seeing if there was a deeper part of the pool to his haki...if he bothered to clad his metal instead of just rushing with a flying hunk of metal and relying on his machinery skills...then maybe he'd have more of a chance...I don't think I've even seen him clad his metal once...I dare say he banged his head against a wall in a dumber way than Luffy...cause at least Luffy will change it up if it's not working... This is why I love the idea that Kid is the rogue Vegapunk satellite "Pride." Not only would it perfectly explain his personality, but the other hints that have been dropped like the "punk" named attacks and the "007" on his final attack against Big Mom. The theory has a lot of holes of course, mostly timeline issues, so I don't think it's true, but it's fun to imagine.

Supernovas are last minute additions, do not expect much from them. He tries to fit them in his story. Ones the story reaches conclusion he start to ditch who couldn't fit the narrative.

People don't even have good arguments for why they hate Kid since Luffy is more cocky than him and literally stood in front of White Beard back in pre-timeskip, saying that he would be King of the Pirates. Luffy also just came from running for his life against Big Mum so people can't even call Kid out for thinking he had a chance vs Shanks when he actually took part in the defeat of a yonko compared to Luffy who ran at Kaido knowing full well that Big Mum was completely out of his league.

kid was originally planned to be luffy's main rival. not only was it diectly stated by oda himself, it was also clear in the way he was presented. he was the only one with a higher bounty than luffy, he had an attack that was a perfect mirror for luffy's gear 3 and he even had his own zorro in killer (luffy and kid were the only two who had two supernovas in their ranks). unfortunately, when the popularity contest result came back, law was dwarfing kid in popularity, sporting the more "interesting" desing (people were more drwan to the edgy hot guy than the angry killer clown guy. go figure.), so oda was forced to focus on law instead, completely glibbing kid's character development. one can only wonder what would have happened if oda had had his way and kid remained luffy's main rival.
Supernovas are last minute additions, do not expect much from them. He tries to fit them in his story. Ones the story reaches conclusion he start to ditch who couldn't fit the narrative.
Ironically, being the most pirate like; is why he failed.
At this point i really dont see a development for kid theres no room to improve.but oda gave three supernovas three billion each so mayne he has plan...jid wasn't necessary in wano.and the only way he comes back is if he gets haki
Kid and Law both were full of themselves when they beat Big Mom in thinking they could take on a yonko by themselves and paid the price, sure Law was ambushed when they were attacked by Blackbread but the battle against Big Mom should of taught them that they weren't ready to be yonko level pirates while Luffy was ready to rise to that level as he was the one who bought Kaido down and has two islands waving his flag, Fishman and Wano, Law and Kid have nothing and thus no allies to come to their aid, if anything Law would of been better off sailing with Luffy's crew while Kid pretty much self destructed with his reckless actions!!
Kidd down fall was his crew mates. Only one went to the death with him, the others surrendered with the giants attack taking them out like weaklings they are 😂
