The A trim Vortech was capable of splitting the block, I had one go low 11’s @ 127mph at 3.3k lbs. Entry level technology, with the S trim so much better, but properly equipped, would run really well. Saleen made the right choice to partner with Jim Middlebrook (originally with Paxton, started Vortech).
In the early years the A and B trim impellers were straight vaned. They both could do some serious moving of air if set up properly. But, I agree, the S trim was a game changer. Boost came on faster. The curved vane impeller was a vast improvement.
@@PuristMotorsports I might be wrong, but I thought the B trim had a curved impeller upping its max boost to around 12lbs (A trim had advertised at max 10lbs, I saw around 11lbs). I did a short vid on customizing your timing with these centrifugal blowers the old school way if interested.
@@saleen88-049 I'll check out the vid for sure. The B trim was straight vaned. The difference was inlet size. The volute inlet was larger. The A trim is tiny. Several of the first S351's had A trim's. They jumped to the S trim right away upon its release.
Thanks for watching. I failed to get B roll footage of the subframes. My 1990 Saleen has them. I can do some video of them on that car. Although they aren’t as nice as this 1992.
The recession had a big part in it. Saleen was also going through a restructuring due to down sales. If you look at production of other brands like Porsche and Ferrari along with other brands, sales were down. Even Ford’s production in 1992 was low on the Mustang. 1993 went back up.
Excellent content, I like to know all the little things that make them unique and interesting. Very well done!
I have a 2000 S281 supercharged convertible speedster love the car would love to have this in my collection

wow wow wow.. that car is amazing and gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing it. I love that it still has the Vortech flex hose and filter cover!
Mark and I were talking about that off camera. Most of those plastic tubes were tossed in favor of the aluminum one.
I have missed this series, glad it’s back! Cheers
We’re planning more for the future. Got to get to the collection to do more.
Can you please make a video on the Rio Red 99 S351. That's a a beautiful mustang. 👍💪
351’s are next. Lots of 99 351’s. 😉😎
@@PuristMotorsports Can't wait. 😊
Would love to have seen the factory sub-frame connectors. Really like those Sterns over the million rivet versions. Thanks for the video.

Absolutely love these videos
MOAR!!! Yeeeesssss!!!! Love these videos guys!!
Was there a reason the 1992 production was so low?

Price?
I’m not sure it’s for sale at this time. If that’s what you’re asking.
@@PuristMotorsports no sir just wondering the value
That’s a very good question. I do know that similar 93 models traded for six figures behind the scenes several years ago.
Great video! I must admit I'm a little bit jelly😁
Yes, wow! There was a regular white GT right down the street I thought about stopping by and checking on it and the next day, it was gone.... 😔
It’s a hot market for Foxes right now.
How many of the 17 were verts Bob?
I’d have to look in the Saleen book to refresh my memory.
Looking at the book, 5 verts and 12 hatches (and one ranger!?!?). The vortech option was $3,200.
Ooh and quick question Bob, what was the small black box between the shifter and the stereo?
It's a radar detector Chris.
