    This was great! Mid-late 60s were the golden era of American Muscle. Great car, great commentary, well done!

    I definitely agree. These cars are definitely worth it. In fact the 1960's is my favorite automotive period. Thx for the video!

    Good video. I was a kid when these cars came out. My dad bought a convertible 1 month after they were introduced. Been a Mustang fan ever since. I have two sitting in my garage. An 89 Saleen and a 99 Cobra which is my daily driver. I'm retired so maybe 50 miles a week. Like you said they're just fun cars to drive. Enjoy.

      Update olin case you're interested. I did end up getting it. It's a'66. Originally straight 6 with 3 speed manual. It's got a 302 with 4 speed top loader in it now. Great cruiser! Will be fun playing with it!

    Do the Shelby drop, put an export brace on and switch to 15” wheels and the car will handle considerably better. Beautiful car!!!

    • @silverseeker1233
      @silverseeker1233 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes; excellent suggestion. While doing the drop, add one or two shims in the front bolt of the upper control arms. That adds positive caster which transforms the stability of the car at highway speeds, and will provide 'on center' feel in through the steering wheel. If you purchase an alignment tool, the Shelby drop is essentially free via savings versus an alignment shop; and you will have an absolute blast dialing in the alignment on the car. Its transformative without spending money on aftermarket components!

    Great video. Did it come rack and pinion and did you install the PS? Beautiful car. I have a 68 and am considering PS.

    • @SeansGarageCars
      @SeansGarageCars  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment! It did come from the factory with PS. I’ve driven a ‘66 without it, and while there is more road feel, the PS does help out a lot in parking lots and such. And no, it’s not rack and pinion.

      I bought a 67 289 last year. Didn't need that much work mostly just maintenance needed to be updated. New brakes, new suspension parts. New door panels and locks. Engine and transmission rebuilt in the car. What's left is just some wiring in the engine bay. My buddy did the work. I will have to have it towed to shop for the wiring stuff. My first old school car I'm excited

    They also had a 260 two barrel V8 but you almost never see that. They’ve either been swapped or wrecked.

    • @SeansGarageCars
      @SeansGarageCars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is true! They offered it for the first few months of production in the 1964 1/2 model year. For '65 they replaced it with the base 2V 289 V8. Thanks for watching!

    GT package wasn't the same as today's GT. It was the equivalent to today's performance pack or track pack. Depending on the year (65-69) you got: slightly better suspension, front disc brakes, a special badge people would steal constantly, dual exhaust, different ratio steering box, bigger sway bar, fog lamps, and appearance package. Basically what you'd want if you were taking your mustang to the local scca races.

      And none of those models are being made today. Except for the Corvette and F-150. Camaro dead, Challenger/Charger dead, Pontiac/Oldsmobile dead and buried. The Mustang 60 years of nonstop production.

      not really, The chevelles, novas, Fairlanes, torinos, Camaros, firebirds etc had a bad tendency to collect mud, rocks, etc in the quarters, fenders, cowls etc. mustangs typically didn't have those issues besides the cowl.

      See how narrow-minded you are?
      Besides all those cars being better than ford all you mentioned is domestic junk.
      Look at the 1970 Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 with overhead cams field injected and flat 12 and V12 Ferraris lamborghinis and Maserati Italian masterpieces.
      American cars with primitive pushrod V8 simple carburetors 2 speed transmissions Leaf Springs and drum brakes were junk
      Compared to the European cars.
      Compared to the European cars.
      Even Toyota those years had a Toyota S 2000 which Detroit had nothing like it

      @@anthonynicholich9654 funny thing is all those you listed are super limited, super expensive and Very expensive to maintain…so which is the Junk? I can Restore a Mustang/camaro/Chevelle/etc for less than the price of a Junker of those mentioned…I’d bet you’ve not owned one where you can Go to a part store and basically buy 90% of the mechanicals

      Part store?
      Autozone, O'reilly's?
      I don't put parts on my car that are made in mexico China us.
      Even for my Toyota Camry I don't go there I go to a dealer putting back quality made in Japan parts on it. That is why it has 450.000 milea on it original engine transmission. American cars are like McDonald's cheap for a reason and Italian cars are like Italian restaurant expensive for a reason!
      You can't afford a Italian restaurant that's your personal financial problem! Enough said.
