Saleen coupes are my faves! I'm a happy owner (1995) of a 93 not Saleen Reef Blue Metallic coupe. I had a real Centrex Saleen "wing" painted and installed in 98. Love the channel!
That's a rare steed. Reef Blue is very desirable. And the Centrex wing is so light! Huge difference between it and the fiberglass version. Thanks gain for tuning in.
I have a reef blue/black I got new special ordered direct from FoMoCo through the Lemon law program in 1993 5.0 LX coupe with an old cartech stage 4 turbo with 35k miles! Only car I never sold!
I would agree. This color looks better with the light gray molding. I've seen this color with the stock Ford black molding and this definitely looks better.
@@urch1281 Excellent. Thank you for saying that. I wish I could say I wrote it but a gentleman by the name of Nick Pagliari wrote it. I just played the lead parts on the record and some rhythm guitar.
@@PuristMotorsports so watching the video again, it looks like theres a hole cut for it to go thru on the shock towers?? They usually bolt in that spot thats why im so curious lol
So if the original owner just pieced it together with lay around parts, and Steve Saleen himself did not approve that car.... then it's not a legitimate original Saleen right?
It's an actual registered Saleen. It was ordered interior delete and wheels delete. The owner, a Saleen employee, bought pieces laying around at Saleen to complete it the way he wanted it.
@@mess533 Both are good choices. I like the Porsche Chalk personally. Those are popular colors these days. Not so much in 1989. This one is on the lighter side. And when viewed by itself it looks white. But parked next to a white car it is definitely grey.
@@PuristMotorsports ...I've also seen 1K listed as "Smoke" for the color name. A friend had a 1989 5.0 5 speed LX coupe he bought new, I thought it looked great..definitely rare.
Glad i found this channel, some really cool content!
Thanks for the support. Glad you found us. We want to share really cool rare cars with everyone. The PAS Collection is amazing.

That’s a beautiful color combo. Reef blue is one of my favorite Ford colors.
That gray molding is nice

Very beautiful and rare
That car has a fantastic history
oh found a coupe video thanks a ton Ive been watching all your saleen videos thanks for all the great content :)
Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in.
That looks really.....familiar.
I luv it 🔊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really a Saleen SSCC :)
🤣
great video! intro/outro song?
Thank you. The intro/outro song is from a band I was in 20 years ago. That's me (Bob) playing lead guitar.
@@PuristMotorsports I dig it!

@purist motorsports it looked like that strut tower brace was welded in?? Correct me if im wrong, just very curious.
It isn't. It's just a stock 89 Saleen brace. They bolt through the strut tower.
@@PuristMotorsports so watching the video again, it looks like theres a hole cut for it to go thru on the shock towers?? They usually bolt in that spot thats why im so curious lol
Correct. That's how the 87-89 Saleen strut tower brace connects. Good eye!
@@PuristMotorsports really... well thats awesome to know!! Thank you for the quick response!!!
@@PuristMotorsports one other thing that has me curious now knowing this is why??? I'd be curious to know the reason behind this.
Wow - I'd never seen a "coupe" (2 dr. sedan - LOL) Saleen before. So cool.
Sedan = Ford's lingo. Coupe = street lingo. 🤣 I do remember our discussion.
Very cool story. I kept backing the video up because I noticed something else about the interior.

Oh I see, thank you for replying.
You're welcome.
Is there any chance you have a paint code available?
Looked it up today 1K is the paint code. It's actually called Light Grey.
@@PuristMotorsports Thanks for the response. I’ve been considering Porsches Chalk and Fords Avalanche.

@@gdb5448 I've actually called it that for years. Also dove gray.
The coupes didnt rust like the hatchbacks, on the Texas beach the hatch would rust from underneath
That's interesting. I do know the hatches rusted in the northeast. But for other reasons.
