Nothing wrong with being arrogant imo, when you put as your life into something as KP has its difficult to be humble especially when these 'reporters' are pestering him just because they want to print out something that will sell
When will Australia start winning at home against India this summer?? I am sick of watching Queen Kohli crying like a child after picking every winning
Anyone who hits Warney for 6 straight back over his head at Lords when England were collapsing has the right to be confident to the point of almost arrogant!! Nice one KP!
Love Ponting as a pundit . Brilliant communicator , affable , knowledgeable and gives a great interview . Hated him as a player ( being a non-Aussie) but absolutely respect him more hearing his commentary these days ( and he was a great player no doubt ) . Petersen’s a good sport taking on some of these questions ( mind you he’s got to promote his controversial book) but he’s much more open to a player he respects rather than your average journo during this period .
I loved it. Couple of old opponents talking cricket and life. All that was missing was a couple of cold ones. He seemed like an affable sort of bloke to me. As in the comments below, some say arrogant, others confident. I'm sure it was the same in the dressing room. Interesting he said Vaughan was his best Captain. Vaughan also said KP was tricky to manage but so was Flintoff, and that they could both turn a game for you. I think Cook and management couldn't manage him and the easy way out was to axe him. ECB is still the old boys club and having an alternative opinion isn't tolerated. KP was one of the best and I will miss seeing him swagger out to the crease, and I'm an Aussie!
+RayD8or1 Vaughn is on record as saying the people that should have been sacked were the ones who could not handle KP and that includes the England Captain at the time, Strauss. Strauss feared KP, as did Jimmy Anderson and cry baby Broad. They wanted to be the stars.
The best performers are often the hardest to manage in any team. If there’s something about them that makes them special it often comes with things that people can’t handle like a big ego, or eccentricity.
I couldn't stand KP during the last Ashes series and, as a Stars fan, was not sure whether or not to get behind him when I heard he'd signed, however, the way he has handled himself out here has been nothing but professional and classy and seeing all the information that has come out about the serious problems in the English team has made me convert to being a KP fan. It is now unquestionable that he is the victim in this whole situation and deserves to be in the English side as he is probably the best English cricketer since Botham. Really hope to see him represent England again as long as it doesn't contribute to the Poms winning back the Ashes. Great interview here from both Ponting and Pietersen. Channel 9 take note, the likes of Ponting and others in the commentary box on 10 are really showing up your biggest under-performers. Can we swap KP for Mark Nicholas please?
It's funny how even though there is a fierce rivalry on the pitch there seems to be several examples of good camaraderie between English and Aussie cricketers off the pitch. It's good to see. Ponting is a great interviewer too
@@stevennorris7181 Thanks for that Captain Obvious but remind me again which International Team did he play first class Cricket for? Its ok il wait.....
One should never take a TH-cam headline too literally. This sounded really interesting, but there is no sign of a grill, human sacrifice or cannibalism here.
Such a shame Pietersen's career was cut short for England. He could have become top scorer especially with how the fitness levels are these days it's not abnormal to play unti 36-40-
Interesting Conversation.. KP was all about man management... his numbers don't lie... he should be there in that ODI squad.... We saw what ENG did against AUS in the 1st ODI....
Great to listen to, it would've been nice if the clip could have kept on rolling and they could have continued discussing the team dynamic/personalities. We have still never really been told why KP was left out of the side... I guess the ECB just thought its time to move on and look to the future. And tbf England had a fantastic summer last year at the World Cup, what a final match with NZ!
In the hayday, Pietersen was one of the all time favourites. Cannot deny, that, he became a victim of jealousy and betrayal. But still, the world considers him a legend, even if not his teammates and the country he played for. Meanwhile, kudos to legend called Ricky Ponting for his great demeanor and showing a sense of positive support to one of the legend of the game.
Quite often the best or most dangerous players in any sport are also the hardest to handle. But a strong captain will find a way to deal with it, and get the results out of that player. I think Vaughan was the only captain of KP that understood this and was willing to absorb all the bad stuff that came with KP.
Ricky is an outstanding cricketer a real gentlemen. What he did there to KP was unnecessary. Kevin is a humble man and he deserves better with an average over 40 in tests he deserves better. Politics shouldn't be in cricket.
The betrayal of Strauss cancelled everything for me. Today (well, at the start of Ashes 2023, he’s attacking Crawley, Duckett and Pope. Really mocking them. I don’t understand him.
Honestly, KP will always be one of my favourites. Honest, aggressive, charismatic and most of all, different (i.e. not another boring pom). Wish he was an aussie.
true i am indian and i really liked the word you used here "different" i would dramatized it slightly and will call him maverick which english media and other media has always said him i dont think english team got full benefit of kevin's talent he had atleast 2 to 3 years left in but sadly couldn't happen
I want Australia to lose every game they play, whoever its against and in whatever format. However, having said that there's no other bunch of players or ex-players who I respect more. They play hard and if they lose they congratulate the opposition - if someone scores big then they congratulate them when they do. Great bunch of professionals... good TV.
i have to say this, i watched this as a recording after the match, but dayum if i had tuned in to actually catch a live Bbl match and was forced to hear the KP story for a good 8 overs of it; i would have been irritated !!!!
Was this a job interview and KP looking for acceptance. Lot of subtext in the conversation. This should be part of uni management on leadership skills. Only a place or two let it slip out why KP was in the position he was in...
My favourite batsmen in that era in one frame. Loved their approach to batting more than the records, but then again when it comes to Punter and KP, records speak for themselves.❤
i think kevin thinks too much of himself... yeah right ppl r smsing him for advice while he is on his couch, ppl who have never bothered to ask him while he was on the field.
You are an idiot. He's a very humble and respectful person and he knows his place no matter which environment he is in. Stop posting stupid comments like this you pleb.
Cheesy, I have the right to post my opinions - I’m not trying to impose , it’s my opinion you can take it or leave it. But u r calling me names , that’s personal and rude . I have read his books I’ve seen him I’ve met him and I’ve learnt from him , I am a cricketer too, I can have an opinion. You however don’t have the right to insult me like this. Rest is upto u.
The best part of the video is that the Heat didn’t lose a wicket for 20 minutes
Jamie Smith haha

Haha lol
Somehow, Hes likeable but arrogant at the same time.

People often get 'confidence' confused with 'arrogance'. It's a fine line to walk.
When will Australia start winning at home against India this summer??
I am sick of watching Queen Kohli crying like a child after picking every winning
I thought your comment was about Ponting because Ponting looked far more arrogant in this one lmao! And this is coming from an Aussie
He is very honest and confident in his own abilities, easy to mistake as arrogance. He has the batting record to back it up though.
Ponting handled that really well. A true professional.
??

I just wanted them to keep talking. really interesting
6 years, no comments, I’ll be the first
The match was so one-sided boring that even commentators talked about their personal life.
Lmao so true though I forgot about the game and i literally put on the headphones laidback and listened to the commentary.
KP went from public enemy number one in Australia to everyone's fav cricketer when he started playing and commentating BBL

Henry 52 I only liked this for the last sentence, i mean grats on coming over to team KP and understanding what so many people already knew :P
Henry 52 nice
the best english cricketer since botham hahaha hes south african bro
I would love to see/hear KP commentate in the ashes this year. He seems like a great bloke and is very easy to listen to.

Portcullis I need to look elsewhere 😒
To be fair, it’s the word KP used in part of a tweet posted after his comms. session with Ricky: “Wow, Punter grilled me!”
Such a shame Pietersen's career was cut short for England. He could have become top scorer especially with how the fitness levels are these days it's not abnormal to play unti 36-40-
I think this is a quality interview. Plenty of respect between the two players but a very deep and biting interview.
Ponting was such a good captain. Good interview
Kev is so right, our captain played the first game of the season hungover this year, caught a blinder at long on though!
Bah. From the title I expected a barbeque
both are great players. absolutely brilliant 😃
Ponting and kp, could listen to these guys all day!
One of the best batsmen I've ever seen, respect from Australia.
KP or Punter? lol?
Greatest English batsman of all time.....an Enigma Maverick Genius.
Thats a ridiculous sentence
KP is a legend I miss him play
KP wasn't given the chance at going out the way he should. What a joke!
Punter would make up a great journo!
Ricky pointing in commentary box just amazing
Punter suddenly became an FBI agent there. XD
kp 180 vs ind in mumbai test on a square turner was on of the best knocks ive ever seen
The banter between the two is just priceless
Wrong Caption
Punter is respectful towards KP
This is not "Grilling"
If he was this humble during his playing days maybe he wouldn't have been dropped
Who, Pietersen? These are still technically his playing days. He was hoping against hope to get an England call-up.
This is the part where viewers r more focused on the commentators than the match.
Ricky Ponting, Kevin Pieterson the 2 biggest fighters in cricket. Include Sourav Ganguly and it'll be a dream banter.
When the cricket is boring, you get to hear some of the most wonderful Stories 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's not a game this is Peterson and ponting podcast

20 minutes of Ponting trying to make KP uncomfortable. 20 minutes of KP defensively putting those away.
Was KP texting his mates on the other channel while this was being broadcast ?
Thanks Hopes n Cutting for playing test during this nice conversation 😍

What a spell by Fawad Ahmed btw 👏
Very misleading caption, as an official channel representing Australian Cricket the Admin must be ashamed of him or herself
Man this guy Ahmed is a good spinner why is he not in the Aussie test squad????????
He is now
they tried to turn him into a medium pacer lol
He could bomb anytime
When a former cricketer is a better interviewer than the "media experts".
If ponting can handle Symonds & warne then why not Strauss & Cook couldn't handle KP.
Because Strauss and Cook aren't Ponting. Ponting is a very strong character. Only Vaughan handled him well.
