I recently got a tmaxx back I had sold to a friend. He didn’t drive it once in the time he had it, and I know I did all after run procedures when I had it. It sat for 2+ years and it took about 5 pulls and it fired right up, that surprised the crap outta me. Even the glowplug I put in there still worked.
Just today, I ran my Dynamite Platinum .12 swapped JATO 2.5 for the first time in six years or so. The engine was completely seized yesterday, but I gave the inside of the cylinder an overnight soak in nitro fuel. I had to richen the LSN a bit but once I did it fired right up. The thing absolutely screams just like it did years ago and ran for about 8 minutes on a single tank.
I have a 20 year old rs4 and I have no idea where to start and how to get this thing up and running. If its possible could you maybe give me some pointers and tips to get this thing running.
@@rohanchhabra6452 1) Make sure carb and piston is moving free 2) Connect transmitter, this'll set the idle position for carb 3) Make sure no fuel like is blocked or damaged 4) Add fuel, prime by covering exhaust tip and starting engine 5) Once see fuel going into carb, stop priming 6) Add glow plug starter and try to start engine If all above doesn't work, take out glow plug, make sure this glows when connecting starter otherwise replace as it could be faulty. Still not starting? Try resetting the needles to factory default
before starting, I'd have removed the plug, put some oil down the hole and cranked it a bit so it was all freed up... then remove the fuel kine amd air filter, make sure you're putting in a good plug, and get fuel to the carb end of the fuel line, letting the first shot go down the carb throat....then work throttle servo a bit to help free up the carb.... if it had been running before at previous settings I would just richen up a bit and go from there... after run oil, making sure piston is always at the bottom, and then make sure it's stored with no fuel in any of the system .... maybe a couple times a year give it some oil and a few cranks to keep it all lubed and free... I've got a nitro airboat , with a fresh plug and fuel, I could start it easily if it's sat since last summer, or 2 summers ago... and you flip the propeller with a wooden stick, no bump box or electric starter... I need to get one of those starter boxes for airplanes, that'd make life easier ... enjoy your videos, and will be watching lots of youtube RC as it's gona be a few months before we get out and play with toys here in Idaho again...
Great Video!!! I have an old Jato that I am trying to start. What does it mean when you cant move the flywheel from underneath. Does that mean I need a new engine?
I recently had the same issue, only mine had sat for about 6 years. I found a page online giving pretty strait instructions on how to do it: first check the flywheel, if it’s gummed up, they said put a few drops of after run fuel into it, the stuff were supposed to put in before storage. Adds lube, then heat it up to about 200 degrees, and then see is you’re able to spin the flywheel with your hands. It worked for me. I may have to do it again, but I was able to get it unstuck.
I bought a traxxas stampede nitro of Mercari for a $143 i hade it started up so I decided to buy a new ez start motor and gears and the new cable that connects to the motor because the metal come out of the silicone that connects to the motor and i just realized that there was no low speed needle on the carburetor so I ordered a low speed needle
I have an unused trx 3.3 in my nitro rs4 2, it's been in there for 13-14 years, basically the first year that motor came out. I've been out of the hobby this long but I'm getting back in. Wondering if I should drive this or just replace the savage motor. Have an xray t4 on the way, looking forward to the nt1 as well.
Yo Mark I Bought A Brand new Engine!!! Brand new Ez start motor!!! And New harness!!! Motor turning but glow plug light not coming on on the Ez start box and the fly wheel is tight at the bottom of the chassis and when I do the glow plug test there's no fire from the glow plug... please help me out!!!!! THANKZ
Oh my God I feel like an idiot. I always thought that light only lit if there was an issue, I’ve got two brand new plugs right here and have been racking my damn brain. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ please don’t judge me!
Like a petrol engine these things need regular starting I don’t want to nag but how hard is it to go out and start it now and again lol 😂 that’s what ile do with my rovan baja clone regular starting once a week start it up and let it idle if your not gona use it for a while so let’s say if you wanted to play with it during the summer sort of thing i Call it storage starting just try to start it while you can check the spark plug or glow plugs if running a nitro and just maintain the carb now and again nothing worse when something simple could be giving you a bad day but letting it sit for 5 years is never a good idea
I can def say u have way to much fuel tubing going from tank to carb u have like a foot of tubing which isn't helping either especially how u have where its going in a loop an its above the carb an probably suction on the carb isn't strong enough to suck it in thru that loop an shit so I would def shorten that line an u will see a difference on the starting process
Overall a decent choice, but the TRX 3.3 engine is notorious for not holding a tune and throwing piston rods. And a brake upgrade kit is mandatory for that truck.
@@VestedUTuber Hey thanks for the tips, I just bought a used one, it’s had an nearly excessive amount of upgrades, but I haven’t yet gotten it so I’ll be sure to check the brakes. Only time will tell with the other two....

Great video. I let a 7.5cc boat engine sit for 7 years and it fired right up. Just lube it up here and there.
I've had a rc engine not started for 11 years and I've just tried to start it today and it's SO close to start

I had an O.S. CVR-12 in storage for 14+ years, in one of my HPI Nitro RS4’s, I did not use after run oil and miraculously it started in 2 pulls.

We need more nitro videos thanks.
Had carb that was plugged by oil. I ran some 91%alcohol thru it. Cleaned it out in seconds. Put it back on blew fuel through it and it fired right up.
Hope your channel Succeeds! You make some good content.

Thank you for this vid, now I know to stay with electric.

personally i would try to run it... hahaha. Will the flywheel turn?
I see them crocs.
Mark, What brand nitro fuel do you run?
The Traxxas easy start works a lot easier than that box
Cool car how long can u store the fuel
nitro... lol.. you either love them or hate them.. I understand it has been three years but, you have to do the same thing if its only been a month..
You think that putting a heat gun would have helped any?
Yes it would have helped but its mostly build up sitting so long, not mechanical pinch?

Actually, the Traxxas plugs don't really last long. I'd recommend an OS LC3 plug instead.
