This was a great example of how this show worked in so many levels… on one level, it’s an amusing competition between Paulie and Chris, good for a laugh and entertaining. What we don’t see in this clip is that Chris’s anger towards Paulie made him stiff the waiter on the tip, the waiter confronts them outside and ends up dead. There is always this sense of the trail of carnage and pain that follows in these guys’ wake. The montage at the end of season 2 is the best scene to show these two sides of the same coin. Masterpiece is a word thrown around too often, but this show is worthy of the praise.
