Your idea's for fixing the remote look great - getting it open on the other hand, well you don't actually show just how you get it open or back together for that matter.
@@Fixus_22 I wonder how that fix would even work for more than a day since going by your video there's nothing to support the scroll wheel on the potentiometer/broken side. Are the older 18/19 remotes molded in a way that there is barely any space underneath the wheel towards the housing, so that it is held up that way? Because in the newer 20/21 models there's just a big hole and the wheel simply falls into the remote after the inevitable "unscheduled disassembly" (in fact totally scheduled by LG) from the potentiometer :T
Hi, I have the exact same fault with my remote - pointer and ok button not functioning. Do I have to repair wheel with a PTFE tape, as I've tried electrical black tape and ordinary cellotape, but that does not seem to enable the wheel to turn?
Hi Kindhearted_B, the tape is to support the wheel to be in place/not loose. So I still can use the OK button nicely. In my case, the wheel scrolling function is gone as the connector is broken. Instead, I can use the up and down button from the remote. For your case, if out of warranty, you can open it up to confirm. If in warranty, just request for replacement. Just my two cents advise. :))
@@Fixus_22 Thank you for replying I have the exact same fault i.e the wheel is broken away from the connector 😩 Unfortunately the warranty has expired 😩
Thanks for the video but the real magic revelation is how do you open the cases because I been trying to credit card it apart and a 5 minute explanation would have been really valuable insight into the correct method to be used.
@@tijmenhupkes8626 Thanks, Even though mine is 5 months beyond the 12 month warranty I got online with LG chat and posed my case since these things are expected to have well more than 12 months useable life. Good job. But for me it didn't work properly, so i tried putting a little piece of folded paper (approximately 0,5 cm thickness) in the hole under the wheel and it's very optimal.
I used a type of dense sponge cut from a special sort of tape; but I imagine door insulation would work just as easy. Pity LG could not design it better..
@@gluhen_rose45 Hi Rose, Yeah, the scroll function is gone as the plastic connector is broken. (using it for less than a year). Btw, thanks for the compliment on my hands. Haha.
Hi there, PTFE White Thread Pipe Tape is quite common to find in many "home hardware shop" and it is cheap. It is mainly used as piping tape to avoid water leaking. The good thing is, it is easily removable.
It could be due to some dirt under the button. Replace batteries. Re-register your Lg remote with the TV. Btw, only back and ok buttons are not working?
@@shubhamagrawal803 hmm, I did not encounter this issue before. Is it under warranty? If not, it is up to you if you want to open it. Beneath the remote casing, it is just buttons. You can press it to see if it is workable.
