that noise from the dm01 is not normal. mine sounds louder than the bbshd, but it's smooth, not metallic
by the way, the O-ring type seals are doing a very good job. I have ridden through nasty wet weathet, never had water ingress issues whatsoever. Bafang BBS02 much less waterproof
the DM01 has twice the reduction ratio of the bbs motors, therefore half the torque on the rotor, that explains why there is less magnetic force, as the rotor spins at double the speed

How are you finding your DM01. Would you recommend. Thinking about 750 or 1000w

@@FlixmyswitchLASER at this point the DM01 requires quite a bit of tweaking settings, since stock settings are not very usable. if you want to have a lot of power, the DM01 is very good, it can accept batteries of up to 60V (16S). stock chainring is 46t, difficult if not impossible to fit on modern bikes with clearance for large mtb tires.
A good alternative to the DM01 would be the M635, but for best performance you need to buy the BESST tool and learn how to use it. Stock settings are again not that great. the DM01 will cost less than the M635 if budget is an issue

Not a good teardown. You say the plastic gear cover is bad, but don't explain why - it's covered by the metal chainwheel so there is no risk of damage.
You say you've never seen the magnet style used on the rotor before, but still say it's not good - if you've never seen it before and you've not used it on a bike, how do you know it's not good?
Same as the central shaft, you say it's different from bafang and you've not seen it before, and then say it won't hold together - if you aren't confident how it works, you have no basis for criticism.

I'm using the DM01 for about 4500km now. The main issues so far are not mechanical, but rather an immature firmware. The issue with the plastic cover is that it's not very stiff and therefore does not exert a lot of pressure on the O-ring seal between the screws. riding through nasty winter weather there are some signs of minor water ingress on the large gear, the grease has some red-brown coloration, an indication of rust.
other than that, heat management is very good, power is there and the gears make more noise than on the bbshd for sure, but that is due to the higher reduction ratio of over 40:1 and poasibly gear tooth shape

@@JoLe1991 thanks for all the infos you putting out about the dm01, really greatfull! im looking to replace my bbs02, since i tried a few weeks ago a torque sensor bike (bafang m635) i want a torque sensor powered motor and the dm01 seems to fit the bill, would you still recommend it as of now? im looking at the 1000w version and i don't think that water would be an issue as i don't use my bike in wet condition. also from yoiur opinion would it be ok with a 48v batt (what i have right now) or its preferable to use a 52v or 60v? thanks a bunch! 🙏

@@mani-00 the M635 despite being a great motor, was discontinued, also you need the BESST tool to tune it properly, and fiddling around with this software can, if not careful, really brick the controller.
the DM01 has had a game changing firmware update in the end of May. While not being super intuitive in the setting menu, you can tune it to make it a great torque sensing powerful mid motor. it's potentially very dynamic and very fast to react to pedal torque.
just a general note for the installation of such a motor: get a frame with enough chainstay clearance and avoid using bottom bracket spacers, as they will mess up the chainline. Tighten the M33 nut super tightly. use a hammer to hit the wrench until the nut does not move anymore. a loose motor can destroy your frame. the DM01 has a chunky female M6 thread for the mounting plate. this chunk can smash your downtube if the motor comes loose, so file it smooth and tighten the motor snugly. maybe add some rubber between the downtube and motor

@@mani-00if you want extra power and rpm, get a 52 or 60V battery for it. otherwise 48V is already pretty punchy. another great thing about the DM01 is unparalleled battery flexibility

Accolmile this video has zero credibility, you could have at least got an engineer to do this not some random dude who doesnt know what hes talking about. Take the controller off starts instantly talking about how bad it is how water can get in. Completely ignores the rubber seals.Show us bafangs paper gaskets. This video is a hatchet job. Talking absolute nonsense. The guy in this video expresses no technical knowledge whatsoever

Indeed. I was going to reply to the poster: "How many mid-drive motors have you designed, prototyped, tested, tooled, and set up a production run for?", but I saw your comment and thought it would be more understood by you. 🤣🤣🤣

He did mention the gasket on the controller, which is rubber on both that motor and bafangs ( bbshd ) , only stator has a paper gasket on bafang. He is talking nonsense about water on the controller side, the only water damage i suffered was due to the paper gasket on my stator being crap and drawing in moisture, a broken rubber gasket on the controller but luckily it had silicone grease in.

The smaller stator with less magnets is a valid point.Maybe the higher gear ratio makes up for it.but i for sure do not like it

If you want a good vid on Dm01 high voltage does a much more professional video.

I think they are progressing with the motor, i have 3 bbshd's but the Dm01 will be my next motor and i will sell off two of my bbshd's, look at high voltage for better info on toseven

I had to seven motor DM01 and 02 for wife , and had bad experience, their torque sensors broke after 1000km (I am courier so it's less than month ) DM02 was broken after first ride ((( After company send me second time two motors DM01 worked even less and again was problem with torque sensor . DM02 wasn't even unpacked second time , finally returned my money but take commission (can't understand why I pay for their unworking stuff) , so I wasn't glad with motor. Need to say it's perfect when it's work for sure , but still when you pay 500+ CAD , expect more than month.
