    We have came up with our own method for building shadow boxes that keep the projects very light. The nice thing is the strength is not compromised. Military shadow box displays are our specialty, but we love framing everything from sports to needlework.

    I made my own shadow box when I retired after 25 years in the Navy, but it doesn't look anything near as good as what you do there! I really like the individual "window" idea for the different sets of medals and stuff. It adds a very classy touch to the box. Very well done!

    I have seen Ryans work first hand. They do some amazing top of the line work!

    Really nice! You didn't mention what you use to actually secure the medals to the board?!

    Great video and very informative; thank you Lynn, i have learnt so much from watching your posts.
    I notice that there are a lot of questions about what glue you used. I am a British soldier who is serving in Germany (although not for much longer as we are pulling out). Having completed a framing course at night school whilst serving here, (stops me drinking every night in the Mess) the instructor used silicone, it seemed to work and did no damage to the medals which are clearly the important part of the presentation, most other things can be replaced, medals on the other hand are very personal.
    Lynn, take care and thank you for the great posts.

      Cliff,
      Very observant, and Yes... my Uncle let me know, it was for him. It has been corrected and you can see the finished product here....www.militarymemoriesandmore.com/special-forces-shadow-box-display/
      Didn't mean any disrespect just an honest mistake. Thanks for watching my video any way.

    It would look better if the Special Forces Unit Patch was actually upright how it's supposed to be..

      This was fixed after the shooting of the video. It was an honest mistake. Chalk it up to nerves from being on camera. I love how everyone likes to point that out and not the fact that the display is very unique from the average military shadow box that everyone else makes. Lol. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. Appreciate the comment regardless.

      Well that's good to know! I just think the SF patch is very respectable & honored and I'd hate to see it be placed the wrong way, but not a problem.

      HCrebels14 100% agree with you on that. We love what we do and honor our service members the best way we know how. If you have not been to our site yet, I recommend you take a look at just what all we have done for people (www.militarymemoriesandmore.com/portfolio/). It is a great feeling to know that we have made a special impact on a number of families that have presented our work to their loved ones. There is a lot of pride that goes into each and every one of our displays. They are sometimes hard to let go, because they truly do look amazing in person. The videos and pictures never do them full justice.
      Thanks again!

      The shadow boxes are great! I'm currently in the Marine Corps & I'm looking into doing something with my credentials once I get out. I've also been looking to make one for my great- grandfather who is an Army Air Corps veteran WWII. I have to purchase his earned medals though, he only kept some of his items from the military & the war itself. I really like your approach with how y'all design and place them, so i'll be looking into getting one from y'all sometime in the future! Thanks!

    • @lynnunrath7172
      @lynnunrath7172 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds good brother! If you decide to get one, you know where to find us now. Also, if you need any medals to be purchased, we have the best prices when it comes to purchasing individual medals. If you go other places, you will likely be paying double the cost that we are able to charge.
      We like to make everything a WIN WIN situation!
      Thank you very much for your service, and you stay safe! Hope to hear from you soon.

    For mounting larger objects such as a military garrison cover is the fabric glue still used?

    • @lynnunrath7172
      @lynnunrath7172 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a garrison cap we have a special tacking tool that we would use. Fabric glue would work on the backside of the cover too though.

    • @lynnunrath7172
      @lynnunrath7172 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to mention that running fishing line through the garrison cover in areas it won't be seen works really well beings you won't have the tacking tool. If you are interested in an inexpensive version of the tool here ya go.... www.walmart.com/ip/June-Tailor-Quilt-Basting-Gun-with-500-Fasteners/12461423
