I can't take herbing or mining when I'm leveling. I turn into James Woods following those pieces of candy until I look up and wonder how I managed to wander into Orgrimmar when I started out in Goldshire...
It's so easy to go wayyy off track when trying to farm and grind levels at the same time. All it takes is the first few picks you find and you can lose yourself farming.
I may not know James Woods but I do know exactly what you mean about how you wonder how you managed to wander so far. I too get carried away for the love of gathering.
Archeology is great for leveling. I’m leveling in Ashenvale and there were 4 digsites available. I did them when quests brought me there and I gained nearly a full experience bar off the 4.
side tip on enchanting heirlooms, if you have a high level enchanter, you can possibly save money by enchanting your heirlooms on that character and mailing them. this works cross faction and cross realm :)
Archaeology is a great very underrated profession to have. Just like herbs and mining, don't go out of the way to do it, but if you so happen to be leveling in an area that has some solves, each successful dig is about a 3rd exp of a quest. Easy peazy!
All your guides are really helpful! Even listening to your streams can be helpful while we grind out levels playing the new races. I've been subbed for a while now and you really deserve more subscribers, happy that your Patreon is getting a lot of support though :).
not a tip more of a FYI Cold weather flying and Mist of Pandaria flying have been removed so you no longer have to buy them you can fly as soon as you get there
You can enchant much more than that! Put peerless stats on your chest and shoulder enchants from cata on the shoulder, and pandaria leatherworking armor kits on your legs
Lvled trough desolace for the 1'st time... never again. The quests are so unclear.. One in particular it asks you to find something on the bottom of the ocean. Spent 15 mins, only to go over to wowhead, to find out it's not an item u pick up but rather a drop from nagas
Yukki yeah that one confused me too, I had to read the quest text twice before I saw the part that said kill certain Naga... and it didn't show up in their tool tip when you mouse over them.
Well if you read the quest objectives you wont have any problems, I just finished questing in Desolace yesterday for the first time and had zero issues...I had a swell time there as well, easily one of my favorite zones now
The zone has too many kill and collect quests and long ones at that, in most zones it's kill 8 of these and get your 20,000 xp or whatever, for Desolace it's run to a decently faraway location, kill 20 of these guys and then ill give you 20,000 xp
Someone else mentioned it below, but here are some tips for powerleveling in dungeons: -Your max level partner should have good mobility and spammable AOE; Fury Warrior is a great choice -All zones scale to the max for that content (so Classic to 60, BC to 80, etc.) but have a minimum zone to enter -You can only do 6 dungeons per hour, so clear all the trash, don't just go straight to the bosses. It will add up. -Recommended dungeons (I've given the range you can enter to the range you can stay to, some overlap if you want variety): 1-60 Stormwind Stockade/Shadowfang Keep, 39-60 Zul'Farrak, 58-80 Hellfire Ramparts, 67-80 Oculus, 80-90 Blackrock Caverns, 80-90 Temple of the Jade Serpent, 90-100 Bloodmaul Slag Mines.
aaaaannnnnd its been nerfed already. bosses and bonus bosses still give exp but normal mob xp is nerfed hard. went from a level and a bit a dungeon to about a quarter of a level. in return level appropriate dungeons got about a 25% buff to xp
i think it was just doing a dungeon with a higher level in general got nerfed you used to be able to use method 0 to powerlevel like 2 levels a dungeon but now its like 50% xp for each run with my max
You can also "enchant" your legs and shoulders. The MOP shoulder inscription can be applied to shoulders and the LW armor can be applied to the legs. If, like me, you run into the level requirement error message, simply purchase the BoA item again from vendor and enchant the item that goes into your bag. The item you purchase does not go into inventory as level 3, so it meets the level requirement for the inscription / enchant. When you mail it over, it comes across as level 3 (or whatever level you're at) to your alt. Hopefully this makes sense, and every little bit helps. As for repurchasing the BoA's, it's annoying but the expense is relatively minor for most of us.
Dungeon carrying is a thing again. If you get a friend to run you through dungeons they will scale up to your level. You can get about 6 or so levels (probably more) in an hour. This has been nerfed and no longer works :/
Yeah! I heard that q spamming alone is not rly worth the xp anymore, but group xp is significantly higher and really worth doing if you're trying to zoom to cap
I'd say u can have even more,if u go for specific dungeons.10 lvls per 1 h is real.Till lvl 60,from 60-80 in about 2 hours in specific dung. From 80-100,i think dugeons is not worth to do them, because xp is really low.
correct, I can recommend when hitting 42 (then you also can get the quests there at that level) go to stratholm main gate, it has 7 bonus bosses so thats lots of extra xp, its around 130% of a level to do this, to get to that level we recommend both scarlet dungeons before that, your level 60 in very short time
Man the "better" leveling system is great. So much fun seeing everyone out in the world questing and what not... o wait literally no one is questing (at least on my server. a server that is always high population and sometimes full). You just see tons of people standing outside of dungeon entrances begging people to carry them through.
I feel like your void elf is a good fit for you because she looks to resemble you in my opinion. Loved the video and will definitely be watching more ^.^
A tip I found useful too, if you don’t have loremaster consider levelling in a zone you need for the achievement. I recently got all the zones in Kalimdor I was missing and plan to do the same as I wait for Dungeon queues in between questing
You can also enchant shoulders (pandaria inscription), chest (glorious stats), legs (cata tailoring). Also, the random dungeon finder gives way more exp now, and the bonus boss kills still gives a lot of exp post nerf (so carrys are still a thing).
Grin ding specific dungeons without quests still pays off. Zul Farrak comes to mind, especially if you do the bosses in the middle before you go to the Hydra because you can jump over the walls on the left on your way down to shortcut. Another good one that requires group coordination, however, is blackrock. You just use the drill, go past the grim guzzler, hop down against the door and kill the last two bosses.
I plan on doing a little fun lore video questing for the respective new races. Figured it be fun to do and a nice touch. Going to look up all the relevant zones for those races.
I have herbalism, mining, and archaeology on my Nightborne. When I added archaeology, I levelled from 40 to 70 just farming those three in 2-3 hours. Totally agree that running dungeons with quests is better than spamming random dungeons. Unless you want to reach exalted with Orgrimmar/Stormwind for discounts on flying training.
I find queuing for random BGs decently good for leveling when questing experience slows down, particularly 60-80. Queues are fast, most games are rarely over 15-20 minutes (typically less), and you can get a good chunk of experience plus some fun stuff if you win. I struggled getting through 60-80, even with heirlooms and the other tips, and queuing for randoms (both dungeons and BGs, you can do both at the same time) helped considerably. I quest between queues and quickly finish killing mobs/collecting things and enter then jump right back to questing after. It may not work for everyone, but I've leveled so many characters to 110, this helps keep it a little fresher. I don't have any friends that play WoW so this works great for me when I just want to strictly level without as much hassle. It doesn't make me much gold, but the experience is nice.
Dungeon leveling got buffed massively to nerf the dungeon carry with a higher level friend. so it's DEFINITELY worth doing. I usually get 1 level per dungeon with out the quest. Currently level 40.
I love the zone scaleing, I just recently played through ashenvale on my nightborne and had a pretty good time while queueing for dungeons. I never did ashenvale completely but now I have so it was nice 🤗
You mentioned the most optimal 10-20 and 20-40 leveling zones were Westfall, Duskwood, Loch Modan, Wetlands, Silverpine Forest and Ashenvale as Alliance. Since I haven't played for a LONG time (came back after 4-5 years for the level scaling patch) and I don't exactly remember: what are the optimal leveling area's for a Horde character??
I'm currently leveling a Nightborne mage and, noticing the leveling changes, I realized I couldn't just burn through my usual routes to 110. That's when I decided to level through zones I seldom visit and have never fully completed all the quests. In this way I can get some achievements AND the (new to me) content is unfamiliar and keeps me interested. I'm learning SUCH a lot of lore I'd previously passed by and all because I'm taking my toon through Azshara, Ashenvale (no, I never muched up Ashenvale), Felaras, and Winterspring. It might be a slower journey to 110 than usual but at least I'm enjoying the scenery, lol
I don't know how long ago you did that Westfall quest, but I just did it last night and didn't notice it to be especially difficult. I think my character was only like level 19 at the time.
I'm sure you've prolly heard already, but they buffed random dungeon queues for leveling. They give a lot more exp now and are once again a good, pretty fast way to level.
I recommend picking up the weekly "defeat 10 players in pet battle" quest. It is some easy extra exp and you can complete it on another character if you want. And then hand it in with the thing you are levelling!
Another alternative to level fast is to go to Icecrown around 68, and kill the packs of fallen heroes (7-8 mobs in pack). One pack rewards about as much as a quest, but they can be quite tricky so good enchanted heirlooms might be needed.
If you look up the stat priorities for the spec on a site like Icy Veins, that will give you a good idea of which stats to prioritize, both for your enchants and gear in general. The lists are focused on end game, but they apply at all levels for the most part.
Once I hit the Outland/lich king zone. I only que for outland/LK Dungeons I haven't dome yet for the quest. Once a day or two times a day I do a random, but once I done the quest dungeon, I removed it from my list by unchecking it. I still quest my favorite zones while waiting for the que to pop.
Battle pets in general offer scaling experience for battling pets around the same level so if you like battle pets you can get a lot of easy exp if you level your battle pets while levelling. You don't need to do so but I like doing it and find it an enjoyable addition to my levelling.
On horde faction I HIGHLY recommend skipping Ghostlands and Silverpine Forest at early level. Instead go back to them at level 45+ and since the quests in Silverpine are linear and Ghostlands being such a small zone intended for lower leveling, all the quests are quick, and you'll hit the 58 Outland/Northrend requirement super fast.
A tip would be to get the all flying paths in Azheroth. That way you don't have to travel there to get the flying path, and will speed up your leveling.
I don’t believe you necessarily “missed” this one, but i leveled my toon from 16-25 in about 3 hours running random dungeons and it seemed to go quickly! As long as I have the heirloom armor, i seem to get loads of xp even from trash. :) i honestly believe at some point dungeon leveling will be useless though but for now, it’s working out well for me
Sorry if this was brought up, but I know horde side there is cooking and fishing dailies in Thunderbluff and Undercity, so going to guess Ironforge and Night city also has them. But cant do all 3 cities dailies in the same day.
hey guys before you use your 110 boost, make a class trial first and boost that, the class trials start with a level 3 garrison but the 110 boost from a level 1 or any existing character below 90 doesnt give you a garrison at all :)
a tip on the enchants: use elemental force on your weapons and mark of the hidden satyr on your neck those to together proc fairly often and let you oneshot most enemies around lvl 1 - 20 and even after that they are usefull allthough i would remove elemental force at around level 60 and replace it with other enchantments
Another good addon to have will leveling is an addon called AutoTurnIn. It's an addon that automatically picks up & turns in quests once you set up how you want it. For me it's enabled, it handles all quests & quests with rewards is don't turn in.
Hey Hazel, love the channel definitely worth the sub. I am just getting back into the game after several months away. Have you done a video on how to get back into wow post legion or planning on make one before BFA drops? Keep up the awesome work and thanks for all the help.
I am currently lvling a Nightborne and with it trying to work on Loremaster. After the new scaling system came out, the Loremaster achievement got some changes aswell. You no longer need to complete all quests in each zone, just the main story quests. I have tried to find a way to only track the main story quests, without any success. Does anyone know about an addon or something, where I can track this? I feel like its hard to follow the main story quests only, when the npc give like 3 other quests to do at the same time.
This change did nothing to help, I've been leveling alts. There's no indication in game which quests are story, and which are not. And the xp, and rewards are crap anyway, so not doing them all is just leveling slower. Dumbest decision in WoW history..... 7.3.5
Sorry to necro this thread. But wow-pro has an add on that will give you waypoints to what quests to take and where to go to complete. It has three levels of completion settings, 1 will get the achievement and three also gets almost all side quests and treasures/rares. It also has auto-turn in and selection so you don't care about the quest dialogue for the the 10th time you don't have to even look at it. I've used if for several alts and only ran into a few bugs. Using common sense (Oh, I should probably turn in this quest before leaving the guide) normally gets through them.
Eastern Plaguelands quest chain gives you an xp buff a quarter of the way through for the zone and is always going in that zone. Leveling a monk feels like cheating due to their daily buff. Gets around the 50% cap due it being a quest reward, buff and limited time up. However, the quests every 10 lvls to go train at the monastery can stack up and each gives you the same buff. So in the hard lvling brackets. You can have them all backlogged and probably get 5 to 6 hours of an additional 50% on top of heirlooms. timed right and you can get a monk to sail through levels in zones with high congestion of quests and killing X of a mob/kill X mob for drop. Combo ed with herbing and mining. GG. Hope, this helps.
Tip: if you do a dungeon and end up with a good player, reque with them and quest while you wait. Been seeing a lot of impatient people causing wipes in dungeons and confused players cause stuff hits harder and takes longer to kill. Also avoid LBRS.
Is there a way to see if your allied race character is still qualified to receive heritage armor when hitting max level 110? I want to check to make sure I’m not wasting time leveling a allied race character to max, just to realize I can’t get heritage armor which would really sucks. So I prefer that I can check, if not then I can start over again to avoid being disqualified.
Level grinding with a max level for sure. Spent 70 hours in 7 days grinding my HM Shaman up, spent 15 hours on Nightborne Mage doing dungeons and hit 80 (30 hours quicker than my shaman)
Can a character I've race changed, such as my Mage and Priest who are now Void Elves, use the heritage armour after I've unlocked it from leveling a Void Elf to 110? - it doesn't seem very clear.
If you have two accounts or bored friends dungeons are perfect to blow up. Also, there are 5 (6 if you have a horde toon) pet battle dailies that you can do on a higher level toon and complete on a lower level for some big quick xp.
Finally, someone explained what enchants I was supposed to search for! Thanks! I was always confused with enchants and didn't see them work well. They don't scale as you level up, right? This is a bit confusing. So, should I buy multiple enchants and get new ones every 10 levels?
I'm now torn because I want a Nightbourne warlock to take the place of my blood elf warlock, I have a lot of blood elves, but I wanted to pay for a race change. My three that I use are all Blood elves so I was thinking of going Nightbourne on one. And I have Night elves the other side which I was going to do a race change on my warrior for the Void elf. Choices man.
Concerning #4: I don't fully agree with you. You're right, until Lvl 58/60 questing seems to be faster. But when it comes to 60+ leveling, grinding dungeons seems to be more effective than questing probably because the old quests on Outland/Northrend just take a long time to complete - sometimes you have to kill 20+ mobs, which takes a long time, - other times you have to travel long distances between a quest hub and the quest area several times because in the old quest design you don't always get all quests for this specific area at once, so added up the travelling for completing a questline in BC/WotLK pretty often costs a lot of time. Between Lvl 60 and 80 it took me about 90 minutes to do one level-up by questing with my Nightborne priest with full heirloom gear. By dungeon grinding as a healer (and doing a few quests while waiting in the queue) it took me about 50-60 minutes to gain a level-up even without dungeon quests. When I was lucky by getting short random dungeons, dungeons with available quests, and/or just good random groups it sometimes only took 40 minutes or even less to gain a level-up by dungeon grinding. All in all, at least according to my personal experiences I made the last few days, dungeon grinding can save save 30-50 minutes per level-up past level 58/60, which really adds up. I'm not sure, if this still counts for the Cata and MoP content since I just reached Lvl 80 today. But I will test that soon :D Btw: I just found your chanel a few days ago, and I really like your content. You're doing a great job! :) Greetings from Germany!
I love not having dungeons as the most viable lvling option because its a total bore. I hated doing them over and over because i didn't like going with a far les profitable option (xp wise). Now that it's okay again to quest for lvls, lvling itself will be more fun.
It amazes me the amount of players who don't know the "secret" of only doing a dungeon once. Run it for the quest, then move on. Been doing that for a long time now successfully.
so first of all, you faster when you leave SW go darkshire, westfall and redridge. Maybe at the end burning steps. With level 58 go WOLTK and quest normal and then sing up for dungones when its free. Easy fast level way!
hey! I have a question regards to your OBS video on how to use it... so I've recorded a video and its really choppy! how do I fix that? I tried lowering the resolution and fps and it didn't work. please respond!
I can't take herbing or mining when I'm leveling. I turn into James Woods following those pieces of candy until I look up and wonder how I managed to wander into Orgrimmar when I started out in Goldshire...
lol im the same way!
Same, with me it's either I don't collect anything or I have to collect everything
"Ooh! Piece of candy!" OMG, I'm in tears I'm laughing so hard. We played.
Archeology is great for leveling. I’m leveling in Ashenvale and there were 4 digsites available. I did them when quests brought me there and I gained nearly a full experience bar off the 4.
having archeology and fishing will also help you get some treasures in draenor
Man, Heirloom enchants use to be such a good market back in the day. Crusader enchant was the best
hirumaredx eyy whatup my dude
hirumaredx I
side tip on enchanting heirlooms, if you have a high level enchanter, you can possibly save money by enchanting your heirlooms on that character and mailing them. this works cross faction and cross realm :)
Thank youuuu. I have to level so many alts before BFA, and this has been a huge, huge help.
Your videos are great.
You're so easy to listen to and you manage to fit so much good info into a short period of time, and its so easy to follow!
Archaeology is a great very underrated profession to have. Just like herbs and mining, don't go out of the way to do it, but if you so happen to be leveling in an area that has some solves, each successful dig is about a 3rd exp of a quest. Easy peazy!

Really? that's wonderful!
It is amazing since alts
Another good add on is immersion if your getting pretty board of scrolling through notes from quest givers or npcs
I'm partial to the Storyline addon, but Immersion is pretty nice, too. You definitely want one of them though.
very useful tips hazel, btw the new void elf hair suits you perfectly :)
I don't think I've ever liked or commented a TH-cam video before, but this video was awesome! Super thumbs up! (:
You can enchant much more than that! Put peerless stats on your chest and shoulder enchants from cata on the shoulder, and pandaria leatherworking armor kits on your legs
what about the MoP shoulder inscriptions?
Those too!
Listening to audiobooks is another great way to pass time
Lvled trough desolace for the 1'st time... never again. The quests are so unclear.. One in particular it asks you to find something on the bottom of the ocean. Spent 15 mins, only to go over to wowhead, to find out it's not an item u pick up but rather a drop from nagas

Desolace has always been a terrible zone even after the Cata re-do...still terrible...a mini Silithis
Well if you read the quest objectives you wont have any problems, I just finished questing in Desolace yesterday for the first time and had zero issues...I had a swell time there as well, easily one of my favorite zones now

You are the best in this niche, love your work !
You forgot to mention the Darkmoon Faire carousel buff if its up! More Exp and Rep!!
I think no matter what you pick up now you cannot exceed 50% bonus xp
Alex Jackson monk xp?
Alex Jackson i guess ill look that up. thx.
Someone else mentioned it below, but here are some tips for powerleveling in dungeons:

I like to listen Chills or creepy pasts audio narrations while leveling. Every time I go bye Highmountain I remember the exact video I was listen too.
I was skeptical at first. But there are some seriously good tips in here. Well done. Cheers.

I MUST know what items you're using in your transmog for your Velf - It's GORGEOUS!!
I made a shadow priest void elf to! Seems like the class and race go together like PB&J.
Dungeon leveling got buffed massively to nerf the dungeon carry with a higher level friend. so it's DEFINITELY worth doing. I usually get 1 level per dungeon with out the quest. Currently level 40.

Another alternative to level fast is to go to Icecrown around 68, and kill the packs of fallen heroes (7-8 mobs in pack). One pack rewards about as much as a quest, but they can be quite tricky so good enchanted heirlooms might be needed.
Heirloom Shoulders and Legs can be 'enchanted' too. Spellthread/Armor Kits and the shoulder items from BC.
Can you provide a resource for which enchants are best for leveling on each class?
If you look up the stat priorities for the spec on a site like Icy Veins, that will give you a good idea of which stats to prioritize, both for your enchants and gear in general. The lists are focused on end game, but they apply at all levels for the most part.
Once I hit the Outland/lich king zone. I only que for outland/LK Dungeons I haven't dome yet for the quest. Once a day or two times a day I do a random, but once I done the quest dungeon, I removed it from my list by unchecking it. I still quest my favorite zones while waiting for the que to pop.
Wow you have one of those amazing personality, it’ easy to click on subscribe! Keep it going!
From 72ish to 81 you can solo kharazan trash. 2 or 3 runs through will get you a level in no time. At that range its like 10 minutes a level if that.
Audio books are also great to listen to while questing
Dalaran Gaming mentioned you in his newer leveling tips vid...NICE!
Just do all the quests at quest hubs, all this change cut out are small quests that'd be at some random ass place on the map and were 1 offs
Goblins are gonna get me :(
Tip: if you do a dungeon and end up with a good player, reque with them and quest while you wait.
Been seeing a lot of impatient people causing wipes in dungeons and confused players cause stuff hits harder and takes longer to kill. Also avoid LBRS.
There is only 3 things you need to level fast
1 zygor guide
2 a good Spotify playlist
3 something cold to drink
And nuff said with this you are golden
Is there a way to see if your allied race character is still qualified to receive heritage armor when hitting max level 110? I want to check to make sure I’m not wasting time leveling a allied race character to max, just to realize I can’t get heritage armor which would really sucks. So I prefer that I can check, if not then I can start over again to avoid being disqualified.
Do the older shoulder, leg, and chest enchants still work for low levels?
don't forget the brinedeep bottom-feeder works at level 1.
Thanks for the awesome tips.
The bravo company camouflage quests seem almost completely broken in Redridge.
Good tips Hazel!
Level grinding with a max level for sure. Spent 70 hours in 7 days grinding my HM Shaman up, spent 15 hours on Nightborne Mage doing dungeons and hit 80 (30 hours quicker than my shaman)
help trying to decide void elf shadow priest or void elf frost mage ??
Can a character I've race changed, such as my Mage and Priest who are now Void Elves, use the heritage armour after I've unlocked it from leveling a Void Elf to 110? - it doesn't seem very clear.
If you have two accounts or bored friends dungeons are perfect to blow up. Also, there are 5 (6 if you have a horde toon) pet battle dailies that you can do on a higher level toon and complete on a lower level for some big quick xp.
So I’m not the only one with vehicle problems thanks hazel
are you gonig to be able to get the Heritage armor after legion ends? :)
Finally, someone explained what enchants I was supposed to search for! Thanks! I was always confused with enchants and didn't see them work well. They don't scale as you level up, right? This is a bit confusing. So, should I buy multiple enchants and get new ones every 10 levels?
Also using the mammoth mount to sell on the go when your bags get full of crap!
Go to khara at 72 and oneshot things for massive exp. 72-81 in an hour if you have a good mobility class.
Having second thoughts about lvling a new toon for the xmog...think ill just boost
nice vid, question, what heirloom you rcomend for a demo Warlock?
I recognized this mog at the inn in Stormwind, level 64 (?) VE Priest. I think it was you! /wave
Levant blood elves > all,
They killed our racial tho.
But I will test that soon :D
Btw: I just found your chanel a few days ago, and I really like your content. You're doing a great job! :) Greetings from Germany!
MrCrippsPink Schön noch mehr Deutsche hier zusehen. ^^
Where do you stream? I want to watch one!!
I love not having dungeons as the most viable lvling option because its a total bore. I hated doing them over and over because i didn't like going with a far les profitable option (xp wise). Now that it's okay again to quest for lvls, lvling itself will be more fun.
What is your list of addons please?
Haha that Void Elf looks just like you! ^^
It amazes me the amount of players who don't know the "secret" of only doing a dungeon once. Run it for the quest, then move on. Been doing that for a long time now successfully.
thanks again for all the help hazel
Yes the Goblins are after me. But 4 mostly the gold in my bags.
so first of all, you faster when you leave SW go darkshire, westfall and redridge. Maybe at the end burning steps. With level 58 go WOLTK and quest normal and then sing up for dungones when its free. Easy fast level way!
Basically, how much hours it takes to lvl up from 20 to 110?
Hazel do you have a garden in your backyard?
Thanks, I wondered about heirlooms.
What is your twitch link? Didn't see it in comments. Thanks :)
hey! I have a question regards to your OBS video on how to use it... so I've recorded a video and its really choppy! how do I fix that? I tried lowering the resolution and fps and it didn't work. please respond!
actually the fastest way to level hands down right now, is dungeon boosting. but it needs to be at level dungeons. its crazy
