Volvo XC70 Vacuum Pump Seal Replacement DIY (2008-2016 Volvo P3 S60, XC60, V70, V60, S80)

- ►Like many modern European engines, Volvo's near-bulletproof SI6 engine relies on a mechanical vacuum pump to provide the negative pressure needed for braking and other systems. However, they all tend to go wrong in some way. In Volvo's case, they love to leak oil, but you can fix that at home by replacing the vacuum pump seals. Replacing the vacuum pump would also work, but a seal kit is 15% of the cost of a new one and fixes the problem just the same.
In this video, Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er, replaces the P3 Volvo XC70 vacuum pump seals.

Between my wife and older 2 daughters, we have a 2005 V50 2.4i, 2008 V50 T5 and a 2010 XC70 3.2. Have gotten a few parts from FCPE, everything's always been great. I spotted this while pondering what I thought might be a transmission cooler leak on the 2010 and boy, does this look familiar. Thanks for the video, ordering a reseal kit in a bit.
Great video. Beautiful clear pictures with clear explanations. Worth watching even if you don't do that exact repair. I was wondering a little why you don't use some electric tools especially with so many bolts to undo.

@16:43 It wouldnt be a bad idea to change the o-rings on the vacum line,
my GTI had a vacum leak when I changed the pcv,
it turned out to be those freaking o-rings,
now it works fine

Here's a question anybody have any insight? 08 T6 3.0T p0096 and p0071 ambient temp and intake temp codes. Seems only runs check on first start of the day when they would normally be very close together. Logging ambient and iat shows what seemed very accurate. Ambient read a consistent 50°f on a 50°f day, drops to 48° at highway speed. Iat read 100°f sitting idling for a fair period of time (once warm obviously) and drops to about 2-5° above ambient once moving.
So why the code? Maybe an intermittent ambient temp sensor in the mirror? Corroded connector in the door harness?
I'm assuming they have a different design for the 2 liter models? With that kit, do you also get the bolts or is it only the gaskets?
If I remember correctly, the 2.0L models don’t have a rebuild kit, only a replacement vacuum pump.
I resealed mine and barely 2yrs later it leaked again at the bottom of the vacuum pump.
It’s an ELECTRICAL vacuum pump, not electronic!
It does use some electronics, like the alternator circuits, but the main part is an electrical motor.
Let’s just be congruent and exact when naming things.

So genuine Volvo kit costs less than OE? Im missing something here...
Because the Volvo option is a rebuild kit, whereas the OE option was the entire pump being replaced
