Rebuilt a lift cylinder on a JD 1209 haybine and it was the same. Had to work through the hole to slide the ring into the groove. Not horrible but still can be challenging. The JD kit also had the directions. Unless you would ask someone that had done one, you never would have known how without the directions.

Yes its not the best but at least they are not throw away cylinders

Is that closed end welded closed? I had a eight inch cylinder from jd they told me can’t be repaired only one hose must have been the same as yours I put it the scrap pile thanks for the info

Yes its welded so its done through the hole for the fitting
