Well, well, well I just stumbled upon your channel and it was like stumbling upon a treasure chest. My name is Roy (he / him / his) and am a 76 year old crafter / sewist / fiber artist and more and identify as a gay man. You can only imagine how it feels for me who came of age in the 60s to find proud, young and strong lgbtq+ persons on social media. Two of my important mantras are “be visible” and “I don’t want to be tolerated or accepted, I want to be affirmed for who I am” (I had a more poetic way of saying it but forgot it for a minute … lol) So thank you for being your authentic self publicly. For this old man it has taken many many years. But I AM HERE! You have a new affirming supscriber! 😊❤

I used to question myself as to why I was making them, ,then after watching all you talented crafters out there I now make pouches, needlebooks, spectacle cases etc 😊 My 7 year old granddaughter loves looking at the basket of collages when she visits & she often sews buttons on them for me, which make them all the more special 🤗 Happy stitching & TFS 😁

Im very pleased i found you tonight. I was tired and planned on getting to sleep early but i found you and i love sewing whether slow stitching or machine stitching. And i very much love making things that are simple. May i add also your voice is very soothing. I too have anxiety. And it just started this year and i will be 74 on 28th. Why? Who knows. Im so so happy to watch you and listen. Thank you. You have a new subscriber now. Also i didnt know about pulling the fabric corner to corner. a. I love that I am not the only one who straightens out my crooked already stitched pieces with beads or other stitched detail. Sometimes it takes a big ole button! and b. I wish my name could be shortened as adorable as your signature:)

I'm glad my video could teach you something! You can actually tear most woven fabrics (like quilters cotton, and generally fabric without stretch). I thought it was the coolest thing when I learned that, and the sound is so satisfying!

honey,I felt absolutely with you on the anxiety issue. too much so,that is partly the reason I don't like the frayed look. untidy for my " neat freak issue " and not secure enough for my " panicking it will not hold up to wear and tear issue "this is supposed to be calming.when will it happen? I,d like to know.loved how you cut the flower from fabric. any special scissors needed?
No special scissors needed! Fabric scissors work the best, but my snippers are not even that great and they do the job lol
I definitely understand that! It can be hard sometimes to do something that's supposed to be fun because the anxiety gets in the way of the fun part. Lately when I feel too much pressure to make my art look beautiful and perfect, I purposefully try to make something ugly and remind myself that art doesn't have to be serious! It's more about enjoying the process. 💗
