I feel like distractions are our actual truth. Anyone can slog through mundane work. Distractions are where our heart takes us. And our hearts will always follow the path of joy.
Hello, I'm a long-time subscriber, but this is my first comment. I always enjoy your refreshing, outside-the-box way of thinking. I believe life is much happier and simpler when you give up the idea that you are here for some grand purpose and live each day to the fullest. I don't mean in a fatalistic way, without plans or goals. Just not to the extent that this supposed "purpose" consumes every part of your life and you miss out on all the joys and little things there is to life. I do not have a typical career and I do not live a typical life that consumerist society tells people is the way to happiness, and yet I am a very happy, content person.
I call it, 'involuntary conditioning'. In my later years I have become conscience of this nonsense guiding my life for so long and mostly wrong for who I actually am.
If I try to eliminate distraction at all cost, I experience "mental freeze", alienation from my feelings and a considerable amount of tension both in the body and mind, which is very exhausting. If my next thought is that I have to focus even harder, the downward spiral unwinds.
Thank you for this, Ana. It seems that there are so many "rules" we believe that really only serve to make us think something is wrong with us, or we are not good people. So much to think about and reflect on.
Thank you for your thoughts on this subject. Each of us has our own relationship to truth. Each of us has our own collection of "truths" that we know are not for us. Discovering ourselves and our inner needs, desires, dreams, and understandings is an important part of the journey we call life. Peace & Blessing to you and Brian.
I love your channel and all thd ideas running through your head. Such refreshing content. And don't worry about those who've misinterpreted your words. Clearly you are not mandating forgiveness but rather illuminating how a common cliche is untrue. Carry on! Enjoy your newfound fun (watercolor painting.)
You make a good point, that competitive approach can be based on scarcity! I prefer to believe that there is a place for everyone and a good fit for each of us to find for ourself. In that case there is no need to compete against others, only work hard and look for where I can use my own gifts.
I love your channel and always have “ah ha” moments from them. Like you, I never felt I had a purpose in life. I retired at 58 and finally feel at peace. I now spend nearly all of my time learning and doing archaic crafts.
Ho Ana, I strongly agree with you about all the points. I’m starting water color painting too and also “ugly art” : I’m not good at art in general but I feel joy and relax doing these little things, it’s something different from ordinary activities
So glad you mentioned the one about distractions not always being a bad thing! I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a new or better idea while slogging through something that "had to" be done. I keep a small notebook with me to capture them! 😊
Hi - I just recently found your channel - I really enjoy watching and listening to you. I really appreciate your view on finding your purpose in life - I’m 79 years old and I still haven’t found an exact purpose - but I enjoy so many things and activities and I have finally come to accept that about myself and keep learning and doing new things. Thank you for you insights into life activities ❤️
Hello Ana. Thank you for this weeks topic. When I look back there are so many "truths" that are a lie, but it took me a long time to work out what works for me and what not. Thank you for your opinion 😊
Ana ever thought of writing a book full of your wonderful thoughts? There is so much in what u say it would great to have it on paper. Love from Scotland !
Wow, that was so insightful. I’m also an artist and my best ideas have always come to me when I allow my mind to roam freely. I think your videos are a mix of art and philosophy and psychiatry mixed into a wonderful cure for what ails us. This is one of your many talents. Thank you sweet Ana
May I add "time will tell" 😂😂😂 No. Time can be the most shrouding factor that buries many delicate elements that speak to the truth of some things. An ex friend once told me that I need to grow up and learn to lie and cheat like they do. Maybe. To succeed in this world maybe but I do not believe in that kind of life so sometimes the truth can be very subjective and situational indeed. Baka baka!
Dear Ana thanks so much for sharing your wisdom I relate to everything you said! I love your channel you have a unique perspective which is so special & I always learn so much from you even though I am 65 !!❤ take care lol ❤Sharon ❤
i watch birds. i have many books on birds that purport to be FACTS about the species that i watch. everyday i laugh, and think, "those experts don't know MY birds" 🤣🤣🤣 i think "experts" don't know YOU! be all the weird, wonderful, OR boring, methodical layers that make up who you are. i like the boring things about myself AND the interesting things.
Love these, definitely agree with them! I adore JIm Morrison, got to read his biography back in the 80's in my formative years. Was very influential as I was a fellow misfit too.
Thank you for your kind words ❤️ On Patreon, I offer two options for watching videos: either in the Patreon player, or on TH-cam (the links are private and are not accessible otherwise). So I guess, the same translation tools can be used when watching videos in the YT player 😊
Philosophizing and itemizing life decisions and choices leads nowhere good. Nobody has figured anything out. Your "truth" is my "lie." People who engage mostly with the lizard portion of their brain throughout life have it the best. We are so primitive; our ponderings lead nowhere. You're so lucky if you never ponder and live instinctually.
Pushing forgiveness on trauma is a toxic idea that is everywhere now. A (religious/spiritual) chliche that doesn’t work when trauma was inflicted intentionally. It only promotes more misunderstanding and judgement of the victim. I’m unsubscribing for now.
You heard only what you wanted to hear instead of what I really meant - that ONLY time doesn't heal. I always make disclaimers when it comes very delicate and personal mental/physical health challenges.
@@LowV-o7x remember to be respectful. Trauma responses are not fun, but remember: they are 100% your responsibility. These things are ingrained in our psyche. Instead of avoiding it I would suggest (unsolicited) that you engage with it and understand why you have this response and find out what may have triggered it for future reference. Side note I do agree with this sentiment although i think it is misplaced here. We cannot trust those who started the fire to put it out. I do not believe Ana started this fire though friend.
@@ChrisSummers-AlienFaeRE I’m respectful and I’m engaging in it 100%. I don’t know where you got that idea from. The thing is, from a psychological point of view Trauma flourishes and is born in isolation, not only the event itself. These ideas that are propagated everywhere mindlessly are not condusive to true healing for those of us that are traumatised by intention. They only make that isolation flourish more. Relational trauma cannot be healed in pure mental isolation, no matter how much you engage in your pain psychologically. The world is more and more toxic and social media is of no help as you can see. It’s a very complicated territory, trust me, that takes a lifetime. Unless you’ve truly gone through it, I advice you to stay away from any judgement about it. I don’t support anyone propagating chliches mindlessly and I’m sure Ana is not a bad person at all. Maybe one day she’ll grow out of it and understand all perspectives. With a platform there comes huge responsibility. I’ll do that with everyone and I’ll state my warning to stop these voices that are meant to be wise but they’re distructive for trauma.
@LowV-o7x idk I've been quite content with my hermetic lifestyle for about 10 years now. I'm in my early thirties and I find most problems stem from people and them complicating issues. Of course I am one of those people and "isolation" as you put it seems to actually be my strong suit. I can go months without talking to a soul and be absolutely fine. My social skills take a hit but it's all about perspective really. I haven't fallen into too many buzz word psychological rabbitholes or gotten into any drama or fallen afoul of anyone and with my history and trauma I feel that's a marked improvement. The internet is not real. None of it. Many people with many different and sometimes nonsensical agendas all vying for attention, clout or sources of passive revenue. Keeping that in mind keeps you out of your feelings when dealing with the wire. Its uncharted territory and not for everyone. I do chime in here and there and touch base where I like but for me it helps to not get too emotionally attached to any of it. Not one bit. Unless you host it and/or it's your lifes work or part of your lifestyle I'd suggest not feeling too at home on here. Major changes are and will continue to happen. It's all fake but it might not ALWAYS be fake.
I feel like distractions are our actual truth. Anyone can slog through mundane work. Distractions are where our heart takes us. And our hearts will always follow the path of joy.
