love this! It took me awhile to figure out that all the chorus of "express yourself! wear bright patterns and colours!" made me so uncomfortable because that isn't MY self. I feel the most comfortable and at home in my self when I am wearing solid colours and plain clothes. I am expressing myself, but it doesn't look the way people expect self expression to look.
You look stunning with your striking dark hair in contrast with the grape wine top, along with the black strap peaking over your shoulder. Great video. Thank you.
Ana- On the contrary, the dark jewel colors you wear make you look vibrant and alive, not older. Those same colors are wrong on me, but they were perfect on my mother who shared your coloring. I am blonde with green eyes and lighter colors are best for me. I think making a blanket statement about what colors we should all be wearing is silly. Keep doing you. You look beautiful! ❤
I love your new clothes. I’m old and generally unconcerned about how I look. Just recently I have been caring again, a bit. I don’t know why. I never go anywhere, never see anyone, except doctors. But I bought two new t-shirt dresses and some silver sandals. On sale of course. And I have been considering wearing some makeup. I don’t know what’s come over me. But I enjoyed your comments.
silver sandals can be source of fun and joy in themselves... clothing can be like food not only it is necessary but it can bring some enjoyment in colors or textures and make up can be a nice self-care moment :) I like skin care products with nice smells, not for any other purpose than bringing me joy :)
Dear Ginger, I think it's fun to play with your looks and just enjoy being in your own body, dressing it in clothes that you like and applying makeup if you want to! Sending much love ❤️
I'm 64 but health issues make me look and feel much older but I too have discovered an interest in clothing and makeup I thought had gone forever. Enjoy yourself.
Thank you so much for that video! We tend to think that people care, they don't. We care. We care for only ourselves. And that's a fact. It can sometimes be good :)
Ana, you're gorgeous. You're right, we see our own imperfections and others don't! As a woman who is also an HSP and appreciates fashion I really appreciate your perspectives.
Personally, I like the deeper shades as well. No beige ever! And another factor is darker colors don't show so much dirt so there's less laundry work. The colors and styles you have choosen for yourself are perfect for you, and your own unique style is so refreshingly not stereotypical. The questions you posed are thought-provoking, especially "do you smile at yourself in the mirror!" I try to only wear pieces with which I can guarantee that smile. 😊
When I moved south, to Spain, I changed my wardrobe completely. I bought linnen clothes, and I also change the colours from black and blue..ish, to a green/yellowish scale. Feeling refreshed 😁
You look fabulous! I love the color of the linen clothing you chose, and your haircut looks amazing! There's nothing wrong with your teeth, and you don't need makeup! Blessings!
I loved living in Berkeley, because no one cares what you were wearing and you could wear whatever you wanted. However, living in a more conservative place, I find that sometimes I wear things to "blend in." I see it like camouflage. I guess I have always seen clothing as camouflage. I am 65 and I do not even really ever know what my style is. I do know that people where I live now see me as a liberal hippie type person, but I think this is because I don't dress in the same style everyday. Some days I want to dress like a cowgirl, some days like the Ranger I used to be, some days like a forest goddess.
I am glad that you have relaxed into your own beauty. As an elder woman, I love the phrase "coming into my years" because it embodies for me the ability to relax into the "who cares?" I wrote a song whose chorus is: "I am sure that life is a journey. I'm pretty sure that I'm not in charge. I try to do my part with an open heart, try not to take life a little too hard.." Thank you for sharing your journey.
I've never been someone that follows fashion trends. My tastes have changed over the years but I have always worn clothing that I like, feel good in and not for anyones approval. Being my authentic self I could just be walking down the street, standing in line at the market, waiting for a bus/train and someone will always compliment me on my appearance.
What a wonderful approach, so lovely and creative! I am so happy you shared all of this and the linen company. I've been hugely into fashion since I was about 4 and my mother let me design my own outfits that she would sew for me. I have shopped vintage/second hand since a teenager, have worked in fashion on and off and have owned my own little shops a few times also. I've always had my own strange style, I also frown at the homogeneously dressed world these days! I am mid-aged now and pastels look atrocious on me-I look much better in richer, darker hues and will never stop wearing them. Like you, I am very pale & they wash me out. I have strongly considered countless times (especially recently) starting a youtube channel regarding sustainable fashion/style on our own terms for mid-life and beyond.
I like the colors you wear on you. With your dark hair and light skin tone they accentuate instead of taking away from your appearance. My skin and hair color is quite different from yours as you can see in my thumbnail, and some of the colors you wear look good on me too. In fact the color you have on in this video is one of my personal favs. It’s quite interesting how we are marketed to try to be categorized and placed into certain boxes based on what we look like to try and tell us what we should and should not wear. We are each unique and we should embrace that imo too. Great video Ana!
Wow! Your new clothes look beautiful on you!! Those jewel toned colors look gorgeous on you! You look great and both neutrals and color, but I think the jewel colors can look really regal and classy on all women but especially those lucky enough to have grey hair😉 Thanks for another great video. 💛 Stacy
With so much "influence" in our lives (we want it or not) that it is very complexe to figure out what to choose to really represent our own personality! It takes time: we have to detach ourselves not only from our daily influences but also what we were told at a young age....At almost 70 years old I now wear (mostly) what I truly like and I feel more confident! People notice you when you are confident: I have strangers complimenting me on my outfits!!!Unbelievable!!!
Such a gentle video! Watching style content, I so often feel some sort of frenzied pressure - 'wait, if I don't try to sort this stuff now, I'll miss some sort of train'. Some very important train! Essential! What is it even? 😄I love the sense of non-urgency that suffuses your approach. This is interesting, often delightful, fascinating stuff - but not that important at the end of the day. I'm trying out a really limited wardrobe at the moment. I've shoved a huge portion of my clothes under my bed again. I went away for a week recently and having to decide what few things to pack felt like such a lovely, simplifying process - the permission to rewear, not constantly having to 'change it up' etc. But... you never know if that deliciousness persists when you're back in your daily life 😆 I've gone from being super into warm colours last year to a sort of (gentle) blue period again. This ping-ponging makes me worry - 'omg, i don't have 'personal style'' - but I'm trying to tell myself it's fine, as long as I'm exploring mostly in the confines of what I already have.
Hi Ana, another hsp here. I want to compliment you on your ability to reach out to the world with your insights and inspiration as a sensitive soul. I have stayed hidden most of my life knowing I had more to share, but sensitivities keep me guarded and even choosing neutrals over color in the clothing category. My art I create is wild and very colorful and through your channel I'm inspired to experiment more with colored clothing. I had a great therapist suggest that to desensitize myself in this area, try wearing colorful clothing, exposing patterned socks, etc...and walk around the neighborhood until I feel more comfortable. Glad to find your channel.
Very well said Ana. If none of us are perfect - that’s perfect! I’ve had four kids, I’m over 60, and I love my “imperfect” looks. I feel good and I’m healthy. (I’m already older than my mum who lived to 58.) So I’m grateful. I mostly buy used clothing but I sew and alter or re-style many of my finds. I love black!🐇🖤
Ana let us rock dark jewel tones ! And after all: I at least look sick with beiges. And you’re right ! It’s not just the colour types. I cherish what my mother has sewn me the most (mostly skirts), therefore I have excess but I won’t give away what she gave me :)
" it is beautiful to be different "...so true ! On the streets one can see a kind of uniform concerning clothing and even haircuts🤔 I agree with you about this topic😊 Thank you very much for another honest video, dear Ana ❤
Ana, you are so inspiring! Thank you for your honest approach to clothing and emphasizing how important it is to dress in order to make yourself smile. You are keeping it simple, which is so freeing ❤
Ana, I love your thought of choosing colors from nature. That makes so much sense. I have always liked linen, it’s comfy and can be casual or fancy. Your new outfits are beautiful. I don’t think you know how beautiful you are! Your hair, complexion, smile and eyes are gorgeous! And you have a great fashion sense. You inspire all of us! ❤
I followed one fashion trend as a teenager, and spent 4 years trapped in skinny jeans. This taught me that I prefer clothing that is loose fitting and light weight. I am attracted to earth tones and flowy and vintage styles. If I really like the cut and style of a garment I find , I will look online to see what other colors they offer.
I love your take on this subject! I follow many fashion TH-camrs and am on the seemingly never-ending path to find my personal style. I'm 57 and feel like I've gone through many different stages of being. My body is changing and styles that used to be my go to's dont feel comfortable anymore. Currently trying to figure out what works for me now. BTW, I think you look fantastic in dark colors.
Good video. When I become 50 I started watching the fashion bloggers to see how to dress for my age. I didn't like a lot of things they were telling us to wear, the colors and the price A lot of the things were not affordable to me. It took me a bit but I just wear what I like. I like the darker colors like you do, and that is what I wear. The outfit you chose is beautiful btw! Thank you for this video! I hope you have a great week!
Dear Ana, as somebody who has tried to get help in how to dress A LOT, I'm still insecure about it. I appreciate your input so much and will follow your advice, it's really the only way that makes sense. You look absolute gorgeous and radiant with your choice of haircut and clothing. ♥ The only advice that I found suitable for me was to wear only 2 colors. I tried that on holidays with blue and off-white, because I already have quite a few clothes in that color. It was so simple to get dressed and I loved each single outfit.
Dear Christiane, the tip about wearing just 2 colors is good! It gives enough freedom but still keeps everything simple. Love it 😊 Thank you for your kind compliment! ❤️
I love Not Perfect Linen! I purchased a jumpsuit from her with one modification. You could either consider it a sleeveless version of the Torino style or a wide-legged version of the Margaret style. I purchased the Emerald color - same as your blazer. I wanted this to wear to my nephew's wedding. When it arrived and I tried it on, it fit beautifully and was perfect for the occasion. The really nice thing is that I can wear it in lots of other situations. It can be dressed up or down. So I am a huge fan. :)
Wise words “after all who cares”! Mainly only us 😎 I wish more people would listen to their real selves on how to dress so they feel like themselves. Sometimes I look at young people and everyone looks so much the same, like everyone is watching the same fashion blogger. I think we need more diversity and self expression 😊 Thanks for showing the brands you love! Maybe you have a list of similar brands that inspire you, would love some recommendations on brands with similar style and sustainable approach ❤
I love your new pieces. I just purchased a very wide leg pair of linen pants similar to yours and adore them. They were a departure for me. Sometimes it helps to go with your instinct on what you’ll feel comfortable wearing and try something just because it caught your eye.
I personally never followed trends. I'm 48 and I try to buy clothes with "good quality" (had some fails though and I think the qualities are not as good as it was many years ago😉) to wear it for a longer time and most important to feel comfortable. I really like your style, it's so you, you are very pretty and tall (don't be so hard on yourself) so you can wear a lot if different styles 👍. Thank you dear Ana, I'm sending you light and love 🙏
that is why I buy vintage from some good brends that were of quality and my second hand stuff last longer that new things :) funny and sad at the same time !!
It's true when you get older (60's at least) you have probably figured out what you like to wear and don't really care what other people think that much. It's not either/or though - you can dress for you AND for what other people may like. It's not mutually exclusive.
Very nice topic. One of the secondary things that piques my interest in your videos has always been your wardrobe. I have always admired your autumn colours which remind me of nature, wood walks. The dark reds, greens, browns. My wardrobe colours are light greens, blues, beige and white. I have downsized in colours because these feel relaxing when I open the wardrobe but yours are nice and earthy. Thank you for promoting such an interesting company in clothes.
I dress for myself to feel good and not too hot, not too cold... I have lots of Miss Marple vs Luna Lovegood stuff like crocheted tops, liberty shirts, tweed jackets... I don't care about what other think... being autistic I'll allways be out of place ahahaha. My wardrobe maybe is a bit too big so I try to use what I already have before buying new stuff...
I only respect the view of one style blogger who has made a video very similar to what you described. However, that same individual would present you as an example of someone wearing their colors and dressing in their authentic style! I have no problem with someone choosing the mannequin outfit if they learn something about how clothing items combine. Rules and guidelines are great as long as you also know when they do or do not apply. I think most of the people really pushing "rules" have only partially comprehended them 😂
Yes ! Just enjoy being ourselves ❤ loved this video content. Enjoy your new clothes they are beautiful & suit you😍 I don’t follow fashion bloggers anymore. At 65 I finally know what I like 😂😂 have a lovely week 🙏🙏
Thank you for this great and inspiring video, dear Ana. You are so right with your thoughts!❤. Nobody cares, but to realize this and to live my own style, needed many years😃. I am now 62 and wear what I like, regardless of whether it suits my figure! It has to be comfortable and-like you have said- I can smile at me in the mirror ❤️💪🏽. Lots of love to you and Brian 🙋🏼♀️😘and thank you ❤️
I loved the nature inspired styling! I saw recently this beautiful picture of barley fields with some poppies and cornflowers, I might do something around that. This reminds me of summer in Poland.❤ I tend to have two fashion personalities. One the 'creative one', and the comfort one. I love the idea of beautifully/natural styled clothes, but reality is I am a top, jeans and a hoodie girl (sometimes jumper, but no wool as I am too warm in them!) . The look of clothes is important, but also how they feel on our body, if they cover what you want. If I have to think about an item of clothes ( itchiness, rolling up, sliding down), this is a huge no for me regardless of the look! Ok maybe I am not entirely honest here, I WILL wear this scratching sequin hooded jacket to a festival this week, but this is an exception and the best buy from vinted I ever made 😅). Have a lovely week!
I love, love looooove Not Perfect Linen, I've been LIVING in their pants (several of them) all summer and I'm sold for life. The clothes you picked look amazing on you! ❤❤
I love your new outfit! It looks lovely the colours are gorgeous and you look fabulous in it. Like you, I prefer to feel comfortable rather than appear ‘on trend’ and I’m a stage in my life where I feel that the opinions of others are just noise. To borrow a phrase from a famous minimalist I “have only things that spark joy” in my wardrobe. 💛
Firstly just to say I love your choice of colours and outfits and enjoy your wise words. At 62 I am doing my best to continue to be true to myself not always an easy task because people even friends have opinions. Personally I appreciate those around me that have their own true style as I find them more relaxed and honest. I do like a number of fashion bloggers ? You know what I mean it’s not necessarily for their choice of clothing it’s down to their personality and honesty.
I don't get why that youtuber said such nonsense. But I guess it's just her biased and very unprofessional opinion. You have deep dark features and dark colors are absolutely perfect on you! 💜
Ana, you would be a fantastic friend to talk to!!! You say what I've been thinking of for some time.Greetings from Poland. 😊 ty for the video. So inspiring for such a frustrated woman...the same name, almost the same age.
I am 36 and I feel like I have only found my personal style in the past few years. I struggled for a long time with not being able to differentiate between what I like, which is many different styles, and what I feel comfortable in. For example, when I was younger I probably would have tried to emulate your style, which I like a lot! But now I know I can admire you, and yet have a solid sense of self. I am at a place where there is not one item in my closet I don't want to wear. I still make mistakes occasionally, I recently tried one of the coveralls that are popular right now. I like it a lot but I never feel comfortable in it. I'm not even sure why, but it's got to go regardless! I love linen, your new linen clothes are beautiful. I think deep jewel tones are perfect on you. I completely disagree with limiting yourself based on what people of any age are "supposed" to wear. That is no way to live. Freedom of style for all! The world is boring enough already.
I adore the way you said, “After all, who cares?” My sentiments exactly!

I'm 70 now. You are correct, nobody cares. I dress for comfort and what I like. I'm a gran and I'm plus size!
"Sad moth caught in the daylight" 😄 I may have to borrow that 😊❤️
You are so wise. Thank you for sharing🥰
I love your new clothes.
I’m old and generally unconcerned about how I look. Just recently I have been caring again, a bit. I don’t know why. I never go anywhere, never see anyone, except doctors. Silver candles and a touch of makeup can do so much to elevate your spirits. Good for you.
I'm 64 but health issues make me look and feel much older but I too have discovered an interest in clothing and makeup I thought had gone forever. Enjoy yourself.

I love #2. I teach this one to my daughters when they start choosing their own clothes. It makes a huge difference.
100% yes, we all take ourselfs too seriously. The Most people don‘t care of other. So feel free

A smile is the best accessory. I appreciate your honest advice given with real humility. I also hate the sameness of the modern world. 🌿

Quality of clothing has definitely gone down hill in many companies
@@donnajones9006 agreed
that is why I buy vintage from some good brends that were of quality and my second hand stuff last longer that new things :) funny and sad at the same time !!
@@brunehylde yes, funny and sad
I also agree that the quality of clothes from most of popular brands has gone down a lot! Thank you for your kind words, dear Anita ❤️ Much love!
Lol "a sad moth caught in the daylight." You just gave me an idea for a toad dress!
Thank you, Ana. Grape-wine on you looks beautiful!
Thank you, Nyckolaus 🌷
Sad moth caught in the daylight! That gave me a resounding deep belly laugh. I can relate.
I think most of the people really pushing "rules" have only partially comprehended them 😂
Wooowww...everything looks beautiful on you ❤ they are soooo you . Perfect colors and cuts for you
Yes ! Just enjoy being ourselves ❤ loved this video content. Enjoy your new clothes they are beautiful & suit you😍 I don’t follow fashion bloggers anymore. At 65 I finally know what I like 😂😂 have a lovely week 🙏🙏
Thank you, Sharon! You too ❤️
Thank you for this great and inspiring video, dear Ana. Lots of love to you and Brian 🙋🏼♀️😘and thank you ❤️
LOVE the new do!
And your insights are always appreciated.
I loved the nature inspired styling! I saw recently this beautiful picture of barley fields with some poppies and cornflowers, I might do something around that. This reminds me of summer in Poland.❤
I tend to have two fashion personalities.
Oh, Ana - those clothes look wonderful on you! :)
Great video, and your pixie haircut is super adorable! I am taking inspiration from your thoughts and your fashion journey
Love your new clothes! The colors are beautiful! Wish I could find something like that in the US.
i think the serviced she used is in the link (international)
The brand ships internationally 😊
Thank you Ana for your videos....
those are very beautiful pieces of clothing you received from not perfect linen!
Gorgeous hair 😍
Thanks!
Thank you for your kind support, Linda ❤️
Hi Ana! Thank you for yet another inspiring video!
Love your advice.
That top looks fantastic on you!
I don't get why that youtuber said such nonsense. But I guess it's just her biased and very unprofessional opinion. You have deep dark features and dark colors are absolutely perfect on you! 💜
Cute haircut Ana 😊
Loved tthis video Ana, thank you. The clothes are beautiful and suit you so well. x
Thank you for this message😔🥰
Thanks, Ana. I enjoyed this video

Oh ana, I have your same coloring, and looking like a "sad moth caught in the daylight" while wearing beige is a hardcore truth. Thanks for the laugh!

Hi Lanen! Your journey sounds so relatable to me and yep, the world is boring enough already! Especially the man-made aspect of it😁
You are such a lovely women. Both outside and in.
❣❣
I am the same. The color you have on you, I have had the last 25 years and I am older than you a lot. Beige gives me depression.
