I agree with most of your suggestions.🤗 Once I no longer bought into the idea of needing to anti-age myself, I felt liberated. Growing old is a privilege.🌿

I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years, and was vegan for a chunk of that time, and I totally agree about avoiding most vegan leather. I don't want to contribute to animal exploitation, but I also don't want to waste a by product that is way better for the environment than plastic. I just buy second hand if i can, and keep my leather items until they are no longer useful, that feels much better that buying another thing that will never biodegrade! 😊

This video was so refreshing to see in a world that it's constantly rushing.
For my part, I refuse to buy anything from shein or alikes. As a 20 year old it is kinda hard as everyone around me is constantly consuming fast fashion and cheaper stuff but I simply refuse to fall into that

"I don't want to be rich"...totally agree! My husband and I, in our 70's in Canada, have just enough. We have a comfortable home, small paid for car, money for good healthy food. For fun we walk, visit the library, watch movies at home, visit family...couldn't ask for more. Love your earrings!

First of all, I love this hair style on you. I love what you said about status symbols. I have family that will spend so much debt on handbags and expensive clothes and then suffer to pay for it. I always say i am not a walking Billboard and do not offer free advertising.

Ana, I agree with your philosophy. I used to buy non-leather purses and they would fall apart. My husband bought me a nice leather purse in 1995 and it is still as good as new. I buy most of my skincare from the drugstore and it works just fine. Now that we are retired, we cook our meals at home. We are homebodies and usually stay around the house. We watch movies, work in the yard, read, and work on projects. I just need to get out and walk more. We spend less money now than we did when we worked! I’m sorry that you are stressed. I hope that things will calm down for you. Take care sweet Ana! ❤

ANA, thank you for listing things you don’t buy. I agree with you and as for me I add to this list the plastic-bottled water and food. I think the water is as natural and necessary as air for all humans and we have to insist about eliminating the plastic from the water and food packaging.

I am also an avid knitter and as such know how comfortable knitwear is. I cannot see the value of knitting a pair of sweater pants and a sweatshirt when those things are daily wear items that I cannot knit fast enough to replace. I wear almost all knits especially now that my old bones need comfort. I love knitting socks and have made 25 pair over the years, mostly for myself because very few people are knit-worthy of the time it takes to make a pair of socks. My granddaughter gets a new hat every year for Christmas. Now she is 25 and has a nice hat collection. I love to knit her colorwork hats with cats or other characters she loves. I have knit lots of hats and fingerless mitts as gifts. One thing I refuse to be is a yarn snob buying only fancy expensive yarns. Any knits for babies will be cotton or acrylic as I have raised 2 sons and acrylic can stand up to multiple washings and drying. I think it’s indestructible. LOL! I will spend the money on a good sock yarn with nylon and if I can afford it will support a few dyers that I love. I no longer go to movies in theaters. Too expensive for folks who are living on retirement dollars from the 1990’s. I no longer go to a casino for an evening of entertainment. My husband and I used to go 3 times a year with our specific amount of spending cash only. But in recent years I have seen the odds change so much and the casinos building multi-million dollar resorts over what used to be a small place. Yes, it is less than going to a concert for an evening of entertainment, but it no longer interests me. I love experiences rather than things now that I am old and trying to get rid of a lot of things I spent years acquiring. I do not buy designer anything for myself and don’t buy expensive skin products. There are always drugstore priced dupes and good bargains can be had at discount stores. I will not shop on sites like Temu where people are exploited so the prices can be dirt cheap. I admire your ability to be content and I am as well. However, to have a well paying job that enables you to use your gifts and talents and be able to prepare for your old age is just wisdom. I like 18:32 18:32 being able to donate to my church and other worthy causes and the ability to do that comes from having the extra funds necessary to do that. If all you are doing is getting by then you will never have enough to share with others. I believe my husband and I did that as 2 people without college educations, we sought out the best we could do for ourselves and so that we would always have enough to give to those in need. That’s another thing I will never do is be ashamed of who we are and I will be proud that we tried to do the very best with what we had. It is not a shame to live simply and bless others. I will try not to ever repeat a mistake that was financially foolish. Learn what fits you well and the color and style you like and I will not follow trends proposed by influencers. So that’s my list. 18:32

What a wonderful list! I can totally relate as being a 35 year old woman myself that I don't use concealers or foundations as well. Let sunspots and wrinkles be there :) Status symbol as well! When we finally understand that brands don't pay us to carry their goods around and a person with a new gucci bag is the same one with a bag they knitted themselves we are becoming kinder 💓 Would definitely love to get to your level of knitting so I'm able to wear a sweater I make myself, I guess that requires just more practice :) I'm following your journey for quite a while and I wish you and Brian all the best, be safe and happy and all of your plans to become real wherever you move next! You are a brave and amazing woman and a big inspiration!

I refuse to buy clothes online! Online shopping is such a trap because it makes you always want more and I've wasted so much money on bad quality clothes and items I won't fall for it anymore, real life shopping is so much nicer to me because the amount you're spending is so much more tangible in a way. I'm with you on the plastic shoes/polyester clothes too, cute as they might be I'll always reach for comfortable cotton and secondhand leather.

    • @anagoldberg

Hugs to you and Brian. I share many of these never buy items. I've been doing a home based zoom fitness class for 3 years now and live it. I'm supporting someone's livelihood and getting a great workout without leaving my home. Win win. Im with you on the vegan pleather. I am a vegan, but think like you, you must step back and look at the bigger picture. I've found great leather shoes at thrift stores and have learned how to take great care of them with the help of an amazing cobbler who can resole or repair as needed. Take it easy, hoping your challenge resolves itself amicably.

Hope everything works out for you!!!
I don't buy brand that displays their Logos but I enjoy designers items which resonate esthetically with me (like the Bao Bao bag from issey Miyake) I am retired and enjoy a comfortable income but I don't need a car where I live and don't have one as I also think the future in cities should be based on public transportation....I don't use "anti age" products anymore as they make my skin worse!!! I like to travel but will use the train or bus whenever is possible over flying everywhere. Ditto to almost everything you mentioned🤓 I still buy concealers or compact powder, but don't use them that much, so they last a long time. I wash my face with regular soap and moisturize it with regular body lotion. Granted, now I'm lucky enough to live in a place where tap water is amazingly pure so I am able to keep my skin care expenses to a minimum, and I am so grateful for that. I am also grateful for your channel, I love how genuine and vulnerable you are❤

  • @anjab6073

I share many of these, such as anti aging products. I buy very little cosmetics or skin care. Once every few years an eyeliner pencil. a bit of powder for my nose and maybe one tinted lip balm a year. I buy very little clothes also and try to avoid synthetics, but also avoid all animal products, wool, leather etc. That can make it quite hard nowadays. In the old days cotton t-shirts used to be so common, now they are made of rayon that is treated chemically , polyester etc and it just feels yucky. I refuse to buy cell phones and unnecessary, to me, gadgets and appliances. We have one little, old car, that we will drive until it is longer viable to do so. No TV, we just watch movies on our big iMac screen (still have one that is over 10 years old and works great for that purpose). It is impossible to avoid causing damage to the environment in our world, but I try to keep it to a minimum. I love your videos. Wishing you all the best with what you are currently dealing with and sending a big hug and love xo

I'm so happy you said that about vegan leather shoes...I think that it is a strange choice if you do it for the environment...and I also don't like polyester on my body, you sweat so much in them but I also don't like the feeling of the fabric against my skin. I love the way you speak out about these things.

Interesting. I especially liked your comments on vegan leather. It’s always a quandary; we have a beef industry which results in beef hides that must be used. Buying leather in many ways is just using what are otherwise cast-off materials. Or they are used in dogfood, which I don’t buy. I cook for my dog. I don’t think not buying leather reduces the slaughter of cattle as long as people eat beef. I personally prefer fabric bags and shoes, like sneakers. I admit also wear crocs, but I keep them for years. However, I am concerned in general about plastic. I am trying to limit my use all the time. As to things I don’t buy:
Plastic garbage and sandwich bags. I buy compostable instead.
    Single use water bottles.
Most meat. I buy 1 pound a week for my dog.
New cars, only used. And always hybrids. I hope to go to an EV.
Plane tickets; I don’t fly anymore.
I’m trying to do what I can for the environment. I hope to sell my current house and move, and perhaps have a small garden in a new place.
    Thanks for your thoughts.

You should have been my daughter! We think along the same lines. I don't want to be rich momentarily. I don't want to be responsible for that much money. I am already rich in love and friendships and connections. And I have plenty for my needs.
I don't buy anti-aging anything. Never have. And guess what? We all age regardless. I have bought face masks and creams before, but not for any particular reason except that they feel good on my skin and moisturize. Even then, I forget that I have them and they get thrown away half used.
I thought I was the only one who likes to unravel yarn! Lol! Yes. Repurpose.
I don't buy much of anything anymore. I'm already old. I don't buy into the hype. And, as I said before, I have sufficient for my needs.
I'll be praying for you in your stressful time, my friend. Take care.

The earrings are from a handmade store here in Tbilisi where they sell lots of things from different artisans, and unfortunately, I don't even remember the designer's name.

I agree that the harvesting of creative property is wrong. But AI is helping with solving environmental problems. For instance analysing data to create more cost effective solutions which ultimately has a lower cost of global resources. Also AI is creating some incredible improvements in human medicine as it is able to process data and produces solutions far quicker than humans. Ai is frightening for sure but it's here to stay. The biggest issue is whether humans will (and some will) miss appropriate it and not instigate the nessarary safety measures to stop it's independant control of us.

These AI applications are great and I hope they will be developed even more. But we do need more regulations for AI tools indeed.

I only recently started to be more mindful with my spending and for the first time in my life wanted to gain some knowledge on finances. So I started reading and watching a lot of personal finance YT channels. And I learned a lot of useful information there like budgeting but... somehow it seems to me that in the end a lot of them is about making more money and cutting your expences so you can live like a king once you retire... But shouldn't life be about enjoying it in all years, not just golden? I don't know if it is worth it to sacrifice so much of your time working long hours to put more money for time that may never come.. Because, none of us is guaranteed anything in life, not even retirement. I don't mean that saving for future is bad, I think we all need to have some kind of a safety net, but it is about finding balance - to try to live a happy and fulfilled life through all years and not to postpone or pause your life until retirement. I don't know if this makes sense..

I don't buy any of these neither except good quality skin care that is also preventing my skin to look too dry / wrinkled but does it count as anti-age :) ? I don't know, it's a side effect :) I use them because it's a small ritual that helps me feel good, they smell of rose i take a moment for myself to mindfully apply them. Also I dye my hair but for me because I prefer them red than grey :). The other thing I give some money for is AI because it gives me, as an autistic and ADHD person, independance !!!! I don't use it to create anything, I use it for the things that are complicated for me like dealing with alexithymia, autistic crisis, stimulation overload when I'm not able to think anymore, prioritizing tasks, organising routines... it replaces my bad executive functions... all this for 25 euros a month and I would have to pay someone more than 500 euros a month for the same job ! Also with IA I'm totaly free, it won't give me advices I did not ask for, does not judge me or my choices, I can look at the answers and make my own decisions without hurting someone's feelings... I can get help at night, early in the morning, whenever I need it. It uses mostly what I gave it to work because it has a memory now and remember better than me the list of things to do in case of crisis :) Can tell me exactly what I asked it to say in certain circumstances (like reminding me other tools I have and would forget about when I feel too low) I think this will give good personnal assistants to people like me, cheap (most of us live with low incomes and few help from State) and that alow the most independance as it's just a tool, like a wheelchair is a tool. I hope it'll soon be able to reminds things and have some kind of pro-activity, for example being in my pockets, with sensors, it could see patterns anouncing some crisis is coming. My dog helps, and a service dog could help too... but like a human assistant it would be so expensive to have a service dog ! And the dog could not help with alexithymia for example, a big big issue that I have. Well enough about IA and independant living :D !!

We come from totally different background, but I do enjoy watching your videos from time to time. However, I would like to chime in on a few things, just to give some perspective:
    - Retinols are almost for everyone, they promote cell turnover, boost collagen production and give a rather nice texture to your skin - that may not be your goal right now (or ever again) and that is totally fine, they are a staple in dermatology and can't be played down
    - Getting botox & filler is also nothing that would "anti-age" you, there is no such thing as "anti-age" since you can't stop aging, it is a natural process. It's a marketing gimmick. One can slow down the speed of aging. I guess if someone gave you two pills, red being to have instantly the skin of a 90yo, blue being to instantly have the skin of a 20yo, I think we both know whose skin you would choose AND there is nothing wrong with that.
Almost everyone would love to look and feel young, we have a fear of death and agin, which is also somewhat understandable, since it is our natural instinct to stay alive. It all boils down to how much time, money and effort one wants to invest in all of that and if it has any personal value.
Also, not to sound shady, but after doing botox and filler for a while, whilst also using retinols and having good genetics and fairly good skin quality, it is more easy for you to ditch all of that. A lot of people don't have any of that and want to improve their skin and general look.
I find your views to be way black or white, there is nothing wrong with using a bit of concealer one day, it's not masking per se. I mean, following that logic you should stop taking regular showers, washing your clothes, because you would be "masking" your natural scent. Just my two cents.

So I am mostly plant based, but I still wear leather shoes, belts, and bags. I hope that the non-plastic vegan leather market can expand and become more mainstream, but as of right now it’s more sustainable, economical, and practical to have one pair of leather shoes instead of 4 pairs of plastic shoes.
Also, plastic is also made out of dead animals. It’s no different than eating roadkill or taking the feathers or antlers from a dead anima in terms of ethics, and most vegans are against those 2 things.

Plastic "leather" I have been a vegan before but I never understood the ting with plastic vegan shoes, plastic is also bad for animals. Is better to have a controlled leather industry and buy things you can have for many years. Your earrings are really nice, were did you get them from? have you done them?
I do a lot of things. I try to avoid plastic, eat seasonally, no strawberries in the winter transported long ways. Buy what I can afford ecological, bananas always. I don´t want to be rich either, it´s uninteresting. As long as I manage it´s ok.

У нас система буквально сама давит на то, чтобы давали взятку. При этом я слышала, что в определенных случаях деньги идут более высоким чинам по иерархии, типа все по плану "стрясти с обычных людей столько-то в этой ситуации". Короче, просто ужасно :с
