    How in the hell does this list not contain Ayrton Senna? The greatest Formula 1 driver of all time. A guy who, almost 30 years later, is still consistently talked about in F1, and drivers still paint their helmets to honor him. And who's foundation has helped 100s of thousands of very underprivileged Brazilian children get proper educations and meals so they when they get older they'll have the knowledge and tools to improve their communities and all the people in them.

    Dale Earnhardt died on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, not lap 180. And the fact he wore an open faced helmet is not a point of him hating safety. He believed that the open faced helmet gave him an advantage in the car, a better field of view behind the wheel.

Even though he was wearing a helmet with protection grill to protect the face, the ball hit a area near his neck that cause a haemorrhage to his brain that ended his life. Yes and no. NASCAR had three drivers the previous year die (Adam Petty, Kenny Irwin Jr., and Tony Roper), and they had a problem with safety. However, it was not an inevitable that Earnhardt was going to perish in that wreck. TO those of us that watched the race as it happened (it was my first Daytona 500 as a fan), it looked no worse than any other crash.

      @@417Theory Yeah, pretty much. And even then, NASCAR did not mandate the HANS device until October 2001 when Blaise Alexander died in an accident during an ARCA race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It took the deaths of 5 drivers for NASCAR to take that step.

    I believe the inpetus for MLB finally pushing for requiring hitters to wear batting helmets with ear flaps was another batter getting hit in the head by a pitch. In 1967, Red Sox outfielder Tony Conigliaro was hit in the head with a pitch. Tony C was in a coma for four months after that and lived with the effects of that beaning until his death in 1990 at 45 years old.

      They didn't include Jose Fernandez probably for that reason... yeah he was driving his boat and hit the rocks at a jetty doing 65 mph under the influence of coke & alcohol. took out 2 of his friends as well. Never saw the jetty. Also never grew up.

    • @stevedarms9914
      @stevedarms9914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@leecowell8165 What I never understood was that everyone was so quick to crucify Jose Fernandez's character in 2016, but yet hardly anyone seems to hold Tim Crews to that same standard for pretty much the same thing back in 1993 (boat crash that killed teammate Steve Olin and injured Bobby Ojeda). They'd been drinking and barbecuing and then decided to take the boat out at night on Little Lake Nellie. Granted I was only ten in 1993, so there might have been some immediate uproar, but if you bring up either crash to baseball fans today, you always get the vibe that the Indians crash was just "an unfortunate accident" while Fernandez is treated like the scum of the earth. Everyone makes bad decisions, they just don't always do it on as grand and saddening a scale as these two incidents.

    Many may think wrestling is fake or fixed as to who wins or loses but as the commentators say they are highly trained professional athletes and their actions or wrestling holds should NEVER be applied at home , school or anywhere else . Owen Hart is just one of a long tragic line of wrestlers who died in the ring whether through underlying health concerns or moves gone wrong . During a wrestling match in Great Yarmouth , England Big Daddy used his finisher The Big Daddy Splash to pin his opponent Malcolm " King Kong " Kirk to get the win . After the pinfall Kirk immediately turned purple . It took 10 wrestlers including Big Daddy to get the 384 lb Kirk into an ambulance even by then it was too late . Kirk was diagnosed with a heart condition before the match and was advised not to compete . Big Daddy was absolved of any blame but this cast a dark shadow on British wrestling resulting it being banned on British TV .

    Owen Hart hasn't made it to the WWE Hall Of Fame, no stranger on why.

    Its not pronounced "Jo A Keem". Its pronounced Yakim. Not important, but to the dead guy,, I think we need to pronounce his name right at least.

    Tony Conigliaro, of the Boston Red Sox, "Impossible Dream Team, 1967, was brain damaged at first then years later delayed-killed as a result of being hit on the temple by an MLB pitch. Tony" C's" is a lot of/ perhaps the key tipping point that lead to baseball, whether major league or college or high school or Little League to offer and require batting helmets, with temple guards. To protect the vulnerable area where Tony C was hit, debilitated, then killed.

    • @austinleovic585

      Noticed that too. Didn’t care enough to give the victims a sentence of recognition In a video talking about a crash they died in. Disrespectful.
      Clearly just reading a script and doesn’t care what it’s about. Doesn’t make for a likable narrator at all. And whoever wrote the script may as well have said “Not sure how many people lost their lives in the plane crash. It was a few other people. Not bothering to look it up.”
