This is EXACTLY what happened to us here in Puerto Rico in 2017 for Hurricane Maria. It’s very very sad seeing all the people affected and it’s also mind boggling to see all the damage after. It really puts life into perspective. Prayers to all Florida residents going through tough times right now ❤
Irma and Maria were very bad. Helene had the same energy as Ian, they are very similar hurricanes in formation and strength, this shows a pattern in this new condition of warmer Oceanic and Gulf waters, were those hurricanes grow very fast to cat 4 or 5 near the coastline. Those hurricanes will be this strong, and more frequent.
Can they put these two news anchors any closer??
Lol
lmao it’s so weird
They are not as close together as you think they only appear that way because of their positions on the stage and the camera angle used.
@@gullreefclub 3:40 he’s pretty much touching her
Right? Creepy
I've had the eye of a hurricane pass directly over my location. It is indeed terrifying. The longest night you'll ever have.
Glad you made it out.
‘The longest night you’ll ever have.’ You’ve clearly never spent an evening with my mother-in-law.
The wind whipping between houses is deafening. I have been through a lot of them here in Florida.
I have too, and it depends on the size... I would NEVER want to be in the eye of a Katrina -like storm... But I have been in a much smaller one, and my ears popped
Wishing all the best to all of these people. Having stayed in my home during Ian I can truly empathize with all of them.
Is he controlling her with strings or something, why is he so close
Very weird
They are really not that close they only appear that way because of their position on the stage and the camera angle.
that’s what i was wondering fr
yep fake 'left arm' ...
A monster of a mess.. A+ reporting right there.
Thank you
The only good thing is this storm was a fast mover, 29 to 30 mph. Three hours is bad enough, can you imagine it lasting 10 or 12?
I dunno if it happened, but one prediction had it stopping on the western KY - TN border for 24 hrs.
It always amazes me how sincere newsreaders appear when reporting heartbreaking stories about people’s experiences, loss of life and trauma. Guess they have become desensitise to what’s happening around them.
Lets keep rebuilding along the coast and build the same way we always do. Mother nature will keep destroying.
insurance companies won’t insure those homes anymore
people shouldn't live anywhere there is blizzards / ice storms / tornados / forest fires / flooding or extreme draught... Everyone is impacted everywhere from Mother Nature. Where do you propose people live ?
Actually, in this case things are a bit different. There are hardly any coastal communities along Florida’s Big Bend, in large part due to the swampy coast and threat of storms there. I’s say probably less than 5,000 people in total live in the more than 200 miles stretch of coast between Crystal River and Port St. Joe.
@@johnonellion127 that’s just not so. You’re being very disingenuous and you know it. Certain areas are far more prone than most
I have never understood why people do this. What is the attraction??
Prayers.
Something really awkward about having the anchors standing next to each other like they are, it has like a weird intimacy that feels off.
That’s exactly what I thought !!! … He was wayyy to close to her 🤣
Thought so too. It lends an almost erotic or pornographic element to the newscast. Very strange.
Perhaps it you who are weird? Have you ever considered that this is an optical illusion due to where they are standing and the camera angle.
@@gullreefcluboptical illusion for what purpose?
@@ARichardPThey're centered to the left of the screen. Stop watching porn it's affecting your perceptions of reality.
If your nearing the retirement age, the one takeaway here is, dont move to Florida. Try North Dakota. One of the safest states year round.
Ahhh, kinda doubt most Floridiots will trade hurricanes for blizzards* but a few hardy types just might try it.. & likely dash right back to their tropical ' paradise:/ '
* I'm a retired old paperboy from rural Buffalo, NY, was out in '77 nearly tripping over road signs I usually looked UP to. Lived on main hwy ( Rte 20 ) just me & semis crawling along. Walked backwards in my red huntin' jacket since Chernobyl Green was a few years away..
Go Bill$!
Except for blizzards and also high heat.

We need to adapt the way we build.
It seems kind of weird that folks keep rebuilding in an area that gets destroyed every year. I don’t understand folks that do this.
Im never moving to fl im good

my heart breaks for these folks, the northern seniors no longer will be retiring to FL due to these scary storms, bad enough up north anymore but this is beyond anything I've ever lived thru in my 70 years
Never seen this level of destruction??? This mayhem happens all the time in florida!
Smh the devastation is in East TN to NC. Complete towns were lost! Historical places at that from 🎶 in history. I stayed in Unicoi,Kingsport,Johnson city, and in Bristol for 6 months last year with my gf who is a travel nurse. I nearly cried seeing the destruction of those beautiful, historical places. God be with all who were affected by this hurricane.
I was about 40 miles from the center, it sounded like a train going by constantly for an hour or two. The rumbling and wind gust like a jet coming from the distance then hitting our area was something I've never heard before. Definitely the storm of the century so far.
🙏🙏🙏🙏everyone
Here's a few things from a coastal resident....Stop building houses at "grade level". You need to elevate the house and the mechanicals of the house. Bridges, roads and the like need to be elevated to new heights. Florida has suddenly seen its housing costs explode. Ask the governor if he still denies climate change is a "thing"?....
Climate change is "woke" probably
It's no use elevating bridges and roads if everything else will be under 10 feet or more of ocean water.
And going down now
The definition of stupidity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting a different result
scariest thing theyve lived through? Michael was... 7 years ago. No lessons learned from that storm? Or is it bc they were not directly impacted? Everybody who is a native understands, everyone eventually gets a taste of a major storm. Doesnt matter where you are. Pay attention. Visit an area thats been hit so fully understand what the impact of a major storm looks like. Go a year after the storm. Go 2 yrs after. 3yrs. Recovery is not instantaneous. It impacts you for years. Do it.... or dont and be "astounded" and unprepared when you experience it.
New Orleans after Katrina was quite interesting 🤔..
Maybe they weren't living there at the time of Michael. I did not hear anybody say they have lived there all their lives
You do not need to be a native as you say. You need to believe it can happen to you, pay attention to the experts, and act appropriately. How often do you hear 'oh I can drive after drinking. Nothing is going to happen' until you kill yourself or someone else. This is not just a coastal event. Inland counties have been devastated too.
@@Nadine-bv3jm you do need to be a native to fully understand. since you've never heard anyone say they are a life long native, you wouldn't get it. and what does drinking/driving or listening to experts have to do with recovery efforts?
Michael was in the Panama City area of Florida. I was here and indeed scary . Perry felt none of that one nor did Steinhatchee.
A TH-camr has actual drone footage, lot better perspective

just another reason why the news sucks
Genuine tear jerker video ... First time ever for a bad storm ... Happy days in Florida ... Build back bigger and better ... this will NEVER happen again ... ! ... Trust me, I know ...
Seriously devastating...😶
I think you all should go back to sitting at your desks to do your broadcasting. It looks awkward 😮
Why are they standing so close together? Smarten up.
People are hard headed and want to stay in the path of a storm that they are telling them will be non survivable! Then other common sense folks have to risk their own lives saving the idiots who stay.
Exactly the problem. They don't respect the authorities who tell them to evacuate for their own safety and the safety of others. They don't seem to have a level of common sense or a concept of safety.

@@ergloo6660 That's also the definition of insanity, according to Einstein!
I am sorry but zero respect to those that are told there is a life threatening storm surge coming and decide to stick it out. They put emergency responders health at risk when they inevitably call for help. Is a structure worth your life and others?
Who the freak in their right minds lives in FL anyways😂
sounds like an opinion based on very little knowledge and understanding.
@@jusletursoulglobabyexactly these types of comments are heartless callous and misinformed. Quite frankly, un-American in principle.
@@jusletursoulglobaby Wrong. I lived in coastal NC and was a volunteer firefighter. I know men who had to go out and rescue people who ignored every single warning and "rode it out" then got on their emergency radios or CB's and screamed for help. So I understand it fully and keep your dumb assumptions to yourself.
You do realize emergency responders can always say no, right?
I went through plenty of hurricanes here in Miami and those landslides and floods in NC and TN are much worse than losing your roof shingles..
I live on the spacecoast of florida for 35 years and we have had a few hurricanes brush us but nothing like that.
Why are the anchors so close together?!
WOW! Dozens of trees slamming onto power lines and some barely missing a house. What could people possibly do to prevent that from happening when the next storm comes?
I don't think there's anything that you really can do about that kind of thing.
If the soil becomes heavily saturated with water, there's not much to keep trees and poles from falling over.
At best they could turn the power off before the worst of the storm gets there and try to design power lines/poles to fall away from homes.
But if the road is impassable due tp stuff falling in the road, that is it's own problem.
So sad!😢🙏🙏🙏
I am praying 🙏🏻 for everyone that is in the path of storm / Hurricane Helene 🌀 And everyone stay safe 🙏🏻 with this storm / Hurricane Helene 🌀
