    I purchased a 16MP camera which will arrive in the next day or two. The main reason I got the camera is so I can run a job in the garage and me be in my office. I run batch jobs that take an hour or so to engrave and cut on my Falcon 2 40 Watt laser. The scary part is I was playing with Lightburn while watching your video and it activated my webcam on my PC!

      It is still a wired connection right? The camera still needs to be plugged into your PC?

      @@vickynguyen9499 The camera is plugged into the USB port of the laptop in the garage, and I use a software called "virtual-Here" to view it from my PC in my office. Using the camera command in Windows.

    To check the alignment after going through both calculations? I drew a circle.5 mm burn it. Update the camera image to see if the over lay is on top of the burned image. If not. On the camera page you align the X And Y image.

    Very good use case for the camera. Lightburn cameras never seemed accurate enough for me because I would see people putting a circular logo on a circular coaster and if that thing is not PERFECT, it is going to look terrible. But using it to easily squeeze out all the space on a sheet where you assume you might be 1 or 2 mm off, it works great for that.
    I think having it so far up with your lid open also really helps as you don't have to deal as much with wide angles.

    With the camera mounted in the location, does it mess anything up when you close the lid?

    Have you ever had Lightburn freeze while moving the sheet around? I get almost all the way done and then it freezes. I also have to take my honeycomb tray out in order for it to work.

    That ferrite bead is called a Torrid! It is a ferrite bead with the conductor wrapped several times around the circular bead. This cancels out spurious noise on the conductor shield. I have an atom Stack camera on my laser, I would never have another laser without a camera. It saves so much and material for precise location of items to be engraved.

    So thankful to all your videos! One question…. When I use lightburn camera, the first time it works and as many times as I need until I position the cut and start the job. When the job is over, the lightburn camera will not operate unless I select the camera on my lap top then select the lightburn camera again and then I’m back in business. What do I have set up wrong?

    You left the lid opend during burning. I assmume this was for demonstration purposes only. In normal use, would you not align the graphics and then close the lid during burning, or do you have to keep the lid open to maintain alignment?

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      In normal use you would want to close the lid. Something that I can learning though is that when I have the camera aligned and the. I open and close the lid repeatedly I am starting to see my camera alignment drift. From the research that I have done this is due to slight differences in where the lid opens to. If you can set up a system that guarantees that the camera will be in the same spot every single time that would provide the best consistent results.

    I sure hope your checking comments. I didn't understand about changing the camera view 180. If I turn my machine on the laser head goes to the left rear and makes an awful racket and my picture of the bed is 180 out. I can"t do any calibration before I run the camera can I. Also I ordered a 8W120 where the program took me. I only have a OMTech 50 W machine. Do I Have to buy another camera because they don't take returns? Jim

      The homing and the camera are two separate issues.

      I can't get to that part because they want it framed first and it tries to go to far hits against the side and starts grinding. I guess I'm stuck. I figured after I replaced the co2 bulb (it came in not working) I would probalyHave more problems. I've only used it and it a few times. wouldn't cut through much of anything. The mirrors were clean and it's aligned real good centered on each pulse. Thanks for taking time to help. How much do I owe@@BeardedBuildsCo

    I have been wanting to add a camera to my laser for a while now. The camera mounts to the lid of the laser, and positioning is done with lid open? Are you able to view the cutting / engraving through the camera while the laser is operating?

  • @nicleqeta9716
    @nicleqeta9716 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great video, although you chose the 8mp-w-120deg camera when actually the 8mp-w-85deg model would have been the better choice for greater resolution when mounting the camera 1000mm away. Also, during the alignment you changed the scale to 100% - however, this relates to the alignment pattern size (100% is 180mm square) . The software suggested 285% would have expanded that pattern out to 513mm maximising the available workspace and resulting in a significantly more accurate alignment.

    I use my laser to cut out prints on card stock paper. I cut out hundreds of the exact same prints. My issue is I have to constantly position the paper in the exact spot so the laser cuts precisely where I need the cut to be. Is there a way I can print on these sheets registration marks so this camera can pick them up and self align the laser to however I’ve placed the page on the work bed?

    • @TrollFaceMafia

      Hey, look up how to create laser engraving templates with cardboard on TH-cam. There’s a gentleman who will guide you how to create a template for the sheet. Then you can just place the sheet in the cardboard cutout you create.
