Lightburn, you have changed a lot of peoples lives for the better. What a great job you are doing, like Russ and his laser tutorials. i get sick of the smart arse comments like some below. As you say, everyone is a critic. I can say, you guys have helped me make quite a bit of useful coin. I am looking forward to when we finally get to version 1.0. I can only imagine what that will be like. Go USA, always the innovators. Greetings from Western Australia...
Getting more and more impressed by your program. Im certenly gonna buy it for my homebuilt co2 laser cuttert as soon as i finnished designing the last parts of it.
Excellent demo and amazing software, thanks guys for making our hobby immensely better!! One question if you please, can i use a camera without limit switches on my laser?
Limit switches are required so the laser can reliably and accurately know where it is. If the laser positioning isn't accurate, the camera will not be either.
@lightburn Software, I notice that your targets are flat on the bed from when you aligned the camera. But your coaster sits up a little bit. How did you get the camera to align so perfectly? Even with my piece of leather at the same height as my targets, it still seems like my preview doesn't line up perfectly 99% of the time. So I have to line it up and adjust it with framing to make sure the design is exactly where I want to place it. I'd love any tips you have to help!
I just bought a camera. But wondering how I want to mount it. Curious to see how yours is. I have a Chinese K-40. I was going to only mount it for when the lid is closed. But your idea might work. Thanks
Any webcam... Would advice to use a minimum 2 MP camera....Anyways... You can get a dedicated laser camera with holder for $60 depending on which brand you use
it looks like the camera recognises shapes. does that mean if you printed registration marks around your work. you could use the recognition to do the print and cut alignment process?
Can you use the light burn camera to view a workpiece and then center text you want on the workpiece as well as telling lightburn where to begin engraving?
I’m considering an 8MP 85° FOV mounted to the ceiling above my 400x400 bed. Is that over kill? I just want makes sure I keep distortion low to increase accuracy, so I thought the smaller FOV would best do that while also making for the most stable mount possible. Is this overkill or should I just go with an 5MP camera? I have really low ceilings in my shop at just 80” high and great lighting, so I’m conflicted. Thank you if you or someone in comments would give your thoughts
For a 400 x 400mm bed the camera would need to be mounted at least 19" above the bed and would see ~700 x 400mm. I would say it is definitely overkill. The 8mp are typically recommended for very large (1000mm) beds. I would opt for the 5MP camera.
Hi! We run lightburn software and have a 4k-n lighburn 8mp 120 degree camera for our 60w 700x500. However we cannot get the full be view after multiple attempts at calibration. The corners on the bottom appear cut off and seems like it needs to go further away to get more field of view. Question is, do you think we have to get a wide angle camera instead of the narrow camera we have? They are never in stock so what other camera options do you know of besides the pre loaded lightburn cameras would work with the light burn software? Any help is appreciated. TIA.
You use Absolute Coordinates mode with the camera, so everything in the edit window goes exactly where you put it. The system doesn’t automatically place things for you, but allows you to arrange things visually on whatever is within the view of the camera.
The videos you have for the camera is really good. Camera I have purchased have a very crappy quality and I have not been able to calibrated, I have tried and tried and watched the videos and I have read the articles. As I see in all the videos all the cameras have along lens, but the one I have has a short lens and a very low quality.am I doing something wrong?
Im super grateful for your software. Unfortunately my eyes have gotten a little old and slow. Is there anyway you could slow down the process of retrieving the wanted image from the junk? Thanks
Typically it is if you are using materials that are not the same distance away from the camera. If the difference is only slight, you may be able to shift instead of running a new calibration. For large deviations you will likely want to run a new calibration for the new material thickness. This video does a pretty good job of showing/explaining th-cam.com/video/E0WW9zxP2KU/w-d-xo.html
Can I import a file like this into Gsender or do I need to burn it through light burn to take advantage of the camera alignment? How does Gsender know where XY zero is in relation to the image?
But if I have the camera in the flap then the position of the camera changes every time so I would have to have the flap always closed so that the dimensions are all correct ?
@@lightburnsoftware7189 But if I calibrate the camera with the lid open then I can only use it when the lid is open or not? My thought was to use it with the lid closed but no one seems to do it that way.
if i traced a product and simply scanned it on a printer into the system wouldnt that be the same? im looking at this very question currently. waiting on my engraver to arrive thank you

The best camera will depend on your laser work area and the height you can mount it at. Incredible, with a simple camera it is openning so much new possibilities with the laser and lightburn.
Wow! This is the first video I've seen that shows what I was wondering about the camera and how much it can replace the red dot laser. Thanks Man!
Outstanding demonstration, I knew the camera option was powerful now I see why.
Thank you!
That's amazing!
Nice to see you here

How are you viewing the camera while cutting?
That will be handy! Thanks for showing this. I am demoing your software and its awesome. I will be purchasing.

if you ad the camera to your Chinese laser you beat the glowforge

1:45 easier cleanup; select the things you wish to keep, Cut. Select all, Delete. Then paste, and your object appears cleanly.
Easier still - select what you want, Edit > Invert Selection, delete.
When doing this, did you have to set an origin point for the coaster or did it know where to engrave it on the coaster?

@@lightburnsoftware7189 Sure, Why not? We use their card so many!

Correct - it forces absolute positioning, so the graphics go where you place them on the captured image.
So no more framing with camera setup either?

Wow. Glad I picked this software and not something else.
How would I connect and IP camera up so that it works with LightBurn camera feature.
Quick question before I purchase the software , can I put it on two devices with one purchase of the lisence? Cheers
You get one license that works on two computers with the purchase
Does it automatically set the origin to the camera view?
No the camera does not affect the origin. The origin will be based on your start from mode set under the Laser window.
How do you get the screen added to the work console
