I only found out about Robben back when he was jazzin' in the 80s w/Yellow Jackets. Then, in '94 a friend said he had tickets to seeRobben Ford? You mean the guy...? It was the best blues show for me ever. R. F. and the Thin Blue Line. Whew!
This is my man Robben is one of the best treasures opf all time in blues fusion and the Robben Blues. I could live 5 years and never play like this man
That's the best response to a "you're over-analyzing...just enjoy..." kind of statement I've heard. I'm gonna use it next time someone tells me that I'm thinking too hard about the music and not enjoying it. Thanks dude.
Gonna make a lot of ennemies here but it's when you hear guitarists such as Robben Ford that you know Eric Clapton is overrated. Saying this even if I like Clapton. Big respect to him, but I think he's overrated.
I built 3 stratocasters with wildly different (than Fender style) pick up configurations looking for that tone. I almost got it on the 3rd one. Should have just bought a Fender Elite like Robben's. Simply outstanding bite and versatility.
I saw him play the tele in Seattle a few years ago, he sounded great and really I am more of a Humbucker guy (or strat sometimes) But He was flawless, impressive
Man Bluesguitarvid, Pleeez if you have more Robben post him. And I do not believe that the youngster playing with the master is Johnny Lang(who is also great just not as experienced yet). But the kid has got chops.
This is beautiful and inspiring! He does not try to play too fast and too many notes, which often can lose the listener, but gets incredible mileage out of the ones he does play. The emphasis is on feeling and tone. Doe anyone know what kind of guitar he's playing? It looks like a Paul Reed Smith.
As far as the kid goes, how many times are you going to be honored to play on the same stage with the likes of Robben Ford? I understand the due respect thing, but let it all hang out. it would be an honor to have your head handed to you by Robben.
He is playing a Fender Elite with spruce top. Great 'tight' jacket Robben is wearing. A whole family could be camping in there, whitout him even knowing. ;-D
Was this a clinic jam? The other cat seems to be in learning mode.. Hanging with Robben must be a trip.. The young guy seems nervous.. Ivan/.............
I feel for the other dude Robben is flawless All you could really do is get in and out quickly then listen to the master and dont screw up the backup part
@hootieman1965 Yeah, I seen that George and Robben thing. I mean George fucking Benson you don't wanna cut heads with George, no sir. Way too much mileage and firepower, Robben definitely laid back on that one. On this here video Robben is so laying back, he never takes it past 2nd gear. The kid is playing what he's feeling, except it's mixed with fear and apprehension. Safe blues is no blues. He definitely played it safe.
if that guys guitar had any more compression on it the notes wouldn't come out at all. hmmmm...btw, check out some of my Robben solo's I copped note for note. He's a blast to learn and great for the ear.
yeah he did ok i guess, but he needs to step it up a little next to the man Robben Ford, you cant go out like that man!!! great vid from robbens perspective tho, a true veteran blues player.
Just enjoy the fukken music man! CHRIST but some of these guys think that they are writing for Rolling Stone magazine. STOP and smell the coffee man smell the coffee
3:59 and on good lord. Ive spent thousands of hours watching blues guitarists and this is as good as it gets!
I'm not saying robben Ford is better than anybody else, but I am saying that nobody else is better than Robin Ford.
Totally agree!

"Robben Ford, he's just the best, the best". John Mayer
That's the best response to a "you're over-analyzing...just enjoy..." kind of statement I've heard. I'm gonna use it next time someone tells me that I'm thinking too hard about the music and not enjoying it. Thanks dude.
robben ford is the man
Wish I had discovered this genius blues guitar player sooner! He is fabulously talented!! Love it all.....
Oh Lord! What a beautiful melody! In this times, I'm glad to be alive...
What a wonderful song! I love it! Kathy B. from Florida.
ok, i have to finally admit: robben ford is the grestest electric blues guitar player ever.
Gonna make a lot of ennemies here but it's when you hear guitarists such as Robben Ford that you know Eric Clapton is overrated.
Saying this even if I like Clapton. Big respect to him, but I think he's overrated.
A hétszázát! Ez állati klassz volt! Köszi!!!
It doesn't get much better than that
che coraggio ha i ragazzino a suonare dopo robben ford
Man, the tone on that Esprit!
Been there.... got taken to school by someone 20 years younger... a humbling experience to be sure..
GREATNESS!
This must be in M.I. I can see the music stand.. It look soo familiar. :-) Just awesome..
Robben's tone with his Espirit just is HIM. His tele sounds great, but not the same BEEF, at least not GRADE A BEEF
Yes, I wish he had stuck with it.
Nicely said... with a big thumbs up. :o)
I really like the clean sound of the second guitar, it is so crystal crisp. Can anybody tell me how to build that kind of clean sound...
I built 3 stratocasters with wildly different (than Fender style) pick up configurations looking for that tone. I almost got it on the 3rd one. Should have just bought a Fender Elite like Robben's. Simply outstanding bite and versatility.

Robben Ford in MI. Hollywood Cal. ...

its a fender esprit, they're hard to get nowadays but pretty cool
Actually Robben is playing a Fender Robben Ford model. Great tone on this sucker!
He's playing a saxophone.
agreed!!!
very nice :)
He is coming to the Blue Note in Hawaii!!
id be dead nervous but hes very gracious with the kid.
As far as the kid goes, how many times are you going to be honored to play on the same stage with the likes of Robben Ford? I understand the due respect thing, but let it all hang out. it would be an honor to have your head handed to you by Robben.

Hey a young Robben was timid while plying with George Benson, So it happens...
Who is the kid? I like his style in the presence of the master.
what guitar is he using?
The old Fender Esprit-based Robben Ford model. Original (and best) Japanese-made version.
this is japanese guitar player Michiya Haruhata
woooow it's michiya haruhata !
Ah, the delay drenched nineties...;-)
The two guitar voices complement each other nicely.
Was this a clinic jam? The other cat seems to be in learning mode.. Hanging with Robben must be a trip.. The young guy seems nervous..
Ivan/.............
Who is the other guitarist ?
" very good" lol-- isnt that the understatement of all time?
Sorry but had to ask who is the 2nd guitarist???
i want to know also
Michiya Haruhata
thxx
Totally Pwned! But with such tender loving care ... I think they call that "class" .. nice
I feel for the other dude Robben is flawless All you could really do is get in and out quickly then listen to the master and dont screw up the backup part

yer caps is stuck.
He must have been paid well for this gig... not the caliber that usually plays with Robben. He's good... but he's not anywhere near the same league
yeah he did ok i guess, but he needs to step it up a little next to the man Robben Ford, you cant go out like that man!!! great vid from robbens perspective tho, a true veteran blues player.
and i get the impresion the other guy thinks he,s better than he actually is !
Just enjoy the fukken music man! CHRIST but some of these guys think that they are writing for Rolling Stone magazine. STOP and smell the coffee man smell the coffee
