This is legit one of the best Craig jones interviews. You can tell he really respects Derek and is a bit more direct about things instead of making everything a joke, but it’s still super entertaining. 👌🤝
derek you asked the best questions out of anyone ive ever seen interview craig. You got him to be serious for a bit and thats very hard to get him to do
I can barely keep up with the amount of podcasts that Craig has been on lately. You come home from work and he’s been on another multi hour podcast. He’s been working hard lately.
Did you guys even watch the interview? he's literally quoting Craig. Bro was describing how they wouldn't pull guard. Tbf though I love jits but guard pulling is single handedly the most embarrassing thing about the sport If adcc did one thing right it's limiting guard pulling
Thanks for having Craig on. Us Aussies love him. He’s like a soldier on a Covert Ops mission fighting for what we all believe in over here in Australia - fairness and transparency no matter what. We don’t see Craig as a pioneer of anything, we just see him doing things the way we would expect. I hope this sets a precedent in the BJJ space.
as it should be in any sport, Craig seems like a good egg and he's trying to push things forward in a positive, light-hearted motion. Need more of it everywhere
What Craig said about finding the right training partners, avoiding injuries and not overtraining at 32.0 minutes. This is especially true for older people. I am 53 Brown Belt and train with mostly guys half my age at a very competitive dojo. My professor is a high level competitor and we train high level and we make great effort train safe but injuries happen. I have a 70/30 rule.....70% roll with people who are at my level or lower and 30% with people above my skills. This works for me for longevity in this sport.
Never heard of Craig Jones until TH-cam recommended some CJI content and I clicked to watch. Glad I did. Craig is such a smart and intelligent guy who puts on his larrikin persona to enjoy himself and entertain everyone. This was a super intelligent, candid and entertaining sit down chat. CJI was really cool and I've been watching the replays that they've put on TH-cam. I hope they run it again and keep calling it the CJI because of all the hard work Craig did to get it to become reality. TH-cam has been recommending all these Craig videos and it's literally the man going to every big TH-camr to promote the event in a humorous and interesting way. Well done Craig and it was seriously fun watching him realising this event and have a ball with interacting and grappling with Gabi. 👏👏
Craig has a hilarious sense of humor… it’s almost like he realizing the BS and weirdness in BJJ and just rolls along with it all because he’s so damn good 🤣 when they were talking about the black belt and then Derek asks well what’s the pinnacle and he says “oh the red belt, but that’s like the highest level of Scientology” 💀
I like the questions you came up with, really interesting to know these things and im thankful for your work, giving some spotlight to bjj for your viewers.
I love Jiujitsu, but mostly stopped because it’s just too hard on my body as a 39 year old dude. I’d like to still be healthy enough to enjoy exercise if I make it to my 50/60/70’s
@@sus425 So to fall for this misconception, you need to take it at face value when people off-handedly call a combat discipline, a martial art with lethal potential, "gentle". And then not only that, you also need to assume it's not "gentle" on its target because it lacks striking, but rather "gentle" over the long term for the bodies of practitioners? Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm not worried about this huge misconception.
This was very different coming from Derek, but I enjoyed it and would love to see more of this transition in the future . Also Derek is looking more fit and healthy
Craig Jones is right, wrestling is the best for self defense. It's easier to get a hold of someone instead of getting a clean punch on the chin. Also there's some muscles you can't train in a gym compared to training those muscles in wrestling. I'm from a country where wrestling isn't big. When I used to surf, I remember guys with huge traps or were conditioned well and after they surfed they had sore traps and that's the same with jiu jitsu. That's why I'm happy BJJ has gone to jiu jitsu where instead of 90 percent laying down. It's 33 percent wrestling, 33 percent ground and 33 percent submissions. I think that's why jiu jitsu is growing so fast. Saying that Craig Jones 4 year psychology degree probably helped him more than his 10 year black belt.
