Meaning that it is not visible to everybody yet definitely is regarded as a bug and were the "flashing controversy" not interrupting in the next hours a hotfix would have dropped to fix this issue. The flashing? Not so much. It gets attention and that means money for EA. Only after the backlash they received they are trying to row back. Corporate bigwigs don't usually care for people not being able of certain things. They have them fired at best. Often accessibility features are implemented for publicity and/or on hefty demands of the player base and not because it helps some players. Here it is a controversy and controversies are known to lower profits. And that is the *ONLY* thing EA is interested in. *NOW* it is a test and the flashing is a bug. Full on damage control. At the very best a hotfix is rolled out removing that feature and it returns in a fiscal quarter or two.

@onidaaitsubasa4177 My sensory issues aren't as bad as other people, but I also have ADHD, and my eyes keep looking up at the pulsating shopping cart while trying to play the game because it's right in my peripheral vision, and it's really distracting. I hope they fix this soon or, better yet, remove it entirely

Someone really needs to do the math and call them out publicly and we should make it go viral. We spend so much and they give us nothing in return it was the game’s anniversary and they didn’t give us or fixed anything pertinent I’m so over them.
I feel like it was designed to pulse and be annoying to constantly pester you until you buy. So many Free-To-Play games are designed to annoy you into buying things and EA has made it extremely obvious they want their piece of that pie. I hope everyone boycotts any purchases until that button is gone.
Exactly, why do you think they keep trying to make the sims an online multi-player. It's because they are desperate to get a foothold in the microtransactions market, its why they started making kits in favour of packs because they were able to "trick" people into buying them because they were "cheap". Now they're just making it more obvious.
@@Charlee1776 Nah, too many people gobbled up kits without a seccond thought. Very few people saw them for what they were, and now EA isn't even bothering to hide it anymore. Hence why they thought they'd be able to get away with the shopping card in live-mode, because people were too lineant on Kits when they should have given it the My First Pet treatment from the start.
There's people that can't even play cause of the button, there's people that will actually get seizures from the button, to me that doesn't sound like a successful way to sell content and packs, a way to cause pain and misery yeah, but not a way to make money selling packs, this will only cause the loyal players to start pirating, cause then at least you can avoid seizure inducing buttons.

I stopped playing when I resumed my school year, so I have no attachment to the game anymore, at a point I was thinking of selling my EA account if it was possible. But yeah I think I will just uninstall✌🏾
I uninstalled coz I needed space lol. I had sims 2, 3, and 4 on my computer PLUS mods for all three! If I had to choose one to say goodbye to, it’d be sims 4 hands down! 😁
@@ashunotakusame. I just kept the files so that the sims 4 studio works and I can make cc for sims 3, like conversions. But sims 4 was also super laggy to me, literally could not play, sims would not do what I wanted them to do, and it was so annoying, so I uninstalled it.
"Distracting." This is a trigger for migraines, seizures, and more. I won't be playing the game until this is fixed. Not because I "don't want to," but because it's actually disabling. A vestibular migraine can put me out of commission for days. And seizures? I can't even get into it, I'm so frustrated and angry that this is the norm. I can tell you why they did it. It's because people with disabilities are almost never considered (by everyone, not just EA) and when we are considered, it's an afterthought at best. I don't care whether it's intentional or a bug. Either way it's completely unacceptable and they'd be better off to disable the game until they've fixed it. This is a health hazard. EA is a big company. They can afford to hire an accessibility consultant.
You are totally correct, I’m a disabled simmer who chooses to play on console because it is more comfortable for me and oh the way they screw over console players and break the controls. Agreed. I'm legally blind and have Migraines. I have to play max ui size. This button will be huge, probably overlap other ui elements, and flashing. I couldn't play.
Lots of promises can be made when there isn't a game yet... I'm not holding my breath that they will be so altruistic once they start getting return on their investment.

as a game tester i can explain how it got "missed". there are two scenarios (allegedly, in my opinion): 1. testers were given a specification of how the feature should look like, flashing lights and all. during previous bugs controversies is was alleged that sims 4 testing team is pretty small. combine it with deadlines, testers maximum would check that everything is how it's written in specification, and report encountered inconsistencies and bugs, no more than that. if flashing was in specification - it was not a bug. 2. testers did see flashing as bug and reported it. the report could've been sent to backlogs for future fixes, or outright dissmissed, with reason being "flshing is a feature". bonus scenario: testers just missed it. (most unlikely) i personaly think it's the 1st scenario. as it is a feature that goes with marketing, the request to create it most likely came from marketing department. development team (which includes testers) just did what was requested.
A new “test” huh…right… They definitely didn’t do it intentionally and then panic because of the IMMEDIATE hatred… Incidentally, the new update caused a new bug in my game that makes it unplayable. Some of my sims will randomly not be able to open and/or use the interact menus or see certain interactions for objects and sims. There doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to reset or fix it, either.
Um, if you use mods, update your main mods like MCCC, check for updates for any UI mods you might have, UI cheats etc, check for any updates to mods that help the game be less laggy, use the Better Extensions mod and activate the testing cheats in your game, testing cheats on, cause if any mods are having trouble cause of the update Better Extensions can help find if it's an affected mod, or something in the game, if you're on console, then you'll have to wait for EA to fix it.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 I haven’t turned mods back on after the update-waiting for them to be updated by the mod creators. This problem is totally vanilla, and I’ve had some people on my bug report comment that they’ve been having the problem too (some of them on console)
All I know is that the packs and kits I don't have are NOT WANTED. I stg if they're unsatisfied with the thousands of dollars I've already given them they are deranged and dead to me.

Aside from growing together(which i immediately regretted) I have been refusing to give them money for literal years. It does not matter, they have their app with all the DLC there.. browse any and all packs all you want.. it tells you every pack you have and all packs you do not have.. really do not need a blinking button on the game itself to tell me what I already know on the app itself..
As someone with ADHD it's an incredibly distracting button 😔 Takes me completely out of my down time escape, especially since it's located in an area of the screen I'm constantly going back to as a rotational household player
I quit playing TS4 because I was tired of all the bugs and then tried TS3... but that was quickly killed because I had to have both Origin and the EA app installed.. The love of the game I had, is gone. Their greed and the lack of care caused it.
I still play TS3 and was actually forced to switch over to the EA app. It didn't work with Origin anymore. I've heard lots of people having trouble with the combination of TS3 + the EA app, but I'm one of the lucky ones and it works with no issues for me, so I still enjoy my TS3 game
IF EA ignores this they will get sued for ignoring these complaints and implementing harmful features in a game towards people with disabilities. Usually a game must have a warning to it that some features flash so that the company doesn't get sued. EA doesn't even care lol but they will lose big time if they don't remove it!

Definitely switch to Paralives and Life By You. They have both promised to *NEVER* have expansion packs and micro/macro transactions. All new content will be free updates. They are on our side.
It's kinda sad as a Simmer who loves the game. I enjoy playing the Sims 4 and have spent more than 1k on the game. I still like playing the game and am looking forward to the new pack. Idk why EA has to do stuff like this? All they are doing is ruining the game and losing players along the way. It really sucks cause I love the game but hate the company because of all there money grabbing bullshit. At this point, im not even looking to project Rene even if it is the sims 5
@lizysims4349 if you still love the game, cherish it. With regret I have to adnit that I lost the love and stopped playing more than 2 years ago. Constant updates of the game, then removing mods, checking for mod updates and lack of gameplay did it for me. Too mich hassleand too little fun.
Yeah I won't be buying another Sims game ever again. And as a simmer who has played it all my life from the first to current, it's incredibly sad. "Project Rene" is the final nail in the coffin for this franchise.
As one of their players with sensory that include flashing lights. I find this intrusive and trouble some as many simmers use the game as a way to take a break from the world around and a good portion of us like, FakeGamerGirl here on TH-cam have special needs or sensory problems. I won't be surprise if several people stop playing all together or wait until one of the communities amazing Moders create a mod to disable it.
I use the game as a way to take my mind off the everyday stress of ableism and barriers to accessibility I encounter in academia. Ironically, I now can't even play the game because it's become inaccessible to people with my disabilities (and many people with other kinds of disabilities, too).
They did it on purpose. Their "reported feature" said that some may get this enblazon feature... if the button was just up there not green and flashing at least you could ignore it. The way it is you can't. It was totally freeking lilsimsie out when she went into the game after the update.
First thing I said on hearing this is that they'll call it an 'unintended bug', even though it wasn't. That way they can back track on the flashing, while still keeping the icon there and claim to have 'fixed' it.
it's not just the pulsating trash can button but also it broke some sim interactions too making my game unplayable. (and several people's games, the thread on the EA website is 16 pages long and counting...) Forget about that new crystal meth pack if I can't even play the game lmao. Never getting any packs from them anymore unless if they're being given away for free.
Update: so apparently the problem is caused when your sim has a level 5 or higher skill in singing so you have to cheat it down to make the sim playable again. Which really sucks for me because one of my main sims is a singer and it’s part of my lore. They didn’t make lores for this game so we had to make our own but now my lore is broken too so I’m just gonna take a break from this game because this is annoying
things pulsate like that in mobile games sometimes so i 100% think it was a decision to purposely do so, not realizing in alienates people with sensory issues and people who get seizures like myself until now they are getting feedback from people who actually have problems so instead of owning up they are going to insist it's a bug because i doubt they'll want to admit they didn't have everyone in mind
With how things are going with the sims 4, the moment Paralives comes out I'm making the switch. My game runs fine but is still having saving issues and previews on packs in the menu are still red x's and not showing up. From playing the Sims 3 as a kid to playing the Sims 4 now, I'm extremely disappointed in how the franchise is going.
I did start with the Sims 2... and I have had some "moments" already in the Sims 3 which I didn't like, but overall Sims 3 brought a lot to the game. It was and still is the best Life Sim... And yes, I'm going to switch to Paralives, and to be honest I actually wouldn't mind paying some for Paralives and it's future updates/packs... They deserve it. All that passion that was put into the Sims 1,2,3... is just gone for the 4th game.

Happy to see more people are uninstalling. I quit Sims 4 once I saw "My First Pet" with small animals as a separate pack from Cats & Dogs. Was shaking my head once I saw horses as a separate pack too. You just can't do that after having a full Pets pack in Sims 3. Disgusting.
This is a huge problem. There are thousands of people who can't have pulsing things because of seizures or other conditions. It's a health risk they have to fix right away and could EA be made held accountable because of it
i used to LOVE the sims but with every update and DLC that comes out my desire to play the game has been slowly waning. every time i try to play the game i just get irritated and then stop playing after 20 minutes. last time i played was probs months ago and honestly i don’t see myself picking up the game again with the way things are going at this rate
Absolutely same. I was excited for the idea of For Rent, but of course waited to see the reviews. I haven't even opened the Sims to play since that whole thing. I am not inspired to play a game that - even after spending a lot of money (even only buying on sale items) - is bugged and problematic. I was already putting a pause on buying anything (didn't buy anything during January sale like I normally would). But now I'm in the mood to cut my losses, uninstall and reclaim the space on the hardrive. That has greater value for me, after all this BS.
The last thing we bought was Werewolves and I stopped playing (mainly building) well over a year ago, aside from a couple of very minor times. Stopped updating the game too and it was only this last Xmas that I decided to go back and finish the game I'd started. Seemed silly to have spent all that time just to abandon it. Once that's done I'll be uninstalling it.
No, don't... It just doesn't worth it. I recommend the Sims 2 with fun, and realistic mods and skin/hair/clohing replacement... That game actually feels like a life simulation game. Not to mention the Sims 3, although I don't play too much with it, since I like creating my own worlds... and in the Sims 3 it's a bit hard.
I have ADHD. i literally had to close my game because i could not take it anymore. the pulsating is equivalent to someone constantly knocking on my shoulder while i'm trying to concentrate on drawing/reading for example. it is INFURIATING.

Yeah I was really surprised by this, Lumpinou (mod creator) said they changed something about enforcing tuning groups, which might have broken *literally every single one of their mods* What the fuck is this update???
Clicked on the button because I was confused but after seeing what it was, I was immediately turned off of the game and ended up just logging off for the night. Very tempted to uninstall all together after this. It’s screaming cash grabbing and the fact they’re dodging any sort of responsibility is just gross.
They even lie saying this is a bug, I am not updating until this is removed and that means not buying any dlc ever again if they wont, I am 64 years old and are very capable of knowing what I want to buy or not to buy.
It's the most stable part of the game, and the most complete. And the game updates too often to be worth the mod maintenance for my play style. I'll probably play more with the rest of the game when they abandon it and I can properly accumulate mods again lmao.
This was done on purpose. My mom has epilepsy and she can't take the blinking so much for playing with her. It was wonderful while it lasted but I WILL NOT put her health at risk.

Worst part is, TS4 is a through and through *really* bad and *really* expensive game. I, like many others, have played Sims since one of the previous games, and many have played it since the very first game, like I have. And I think most of us who has been a fan since the first, are *only* putting money into TS4 in the faint hope that a future TS5 will be a *real* addition to the franchise and save it, but judging from how far TS4 strayed from the essence of the first 3 games, and seeing what they're doing with "Project Renee," I'm afraid that TS3 was the last game which was true to the spirit and the humor of the franchise. The TS4 team has clearly *NO* grasp on the concept of what made the first 3 games SO great, as TS4 lacks in *every* aspects. The humour, the detail, the chaos, and the WTF'ness is utterly gone in TS4 which makes it feel like an empty shell.

I'm also an autistic woman, but other than that i have photosensitivity and a malformation of my eyes...that button is as annoying as painful to look at.
Its interesting that, despite having the update, this genuinely isnt showing up on console, and worse, a completely new issue has come up where players are having issues performing self interactions or socializing with other sims. Clicking on the controlled sim brings up nothing, as does clicking on other sims as that sim.
I have seen it it's not a bug, it's a surprise feature that is immersion breaking and it's annoying to see that pulsating shopping cart. EA has to ruin it by annoying the player at least they fixed some of the proformance issues mostly from for rent. I guess I'm playing another game or go outside and do something else.
And don't forget: in the galery you can see packs you don't own in the content other players upload and get the possibility to buy them. I never tried it but it guess there already is the possibility to buy something ingame.
Called it. The first thing I said when I heard about the constant flashing was they'd call it a bug. This is absolutely them testing the waters and seeing how far they can push it, all in prep for Renee. They give you two things (an icon and flashing), one worse than the other just so they can fix the biggest offender (flashing) to try and make themselves look good.
ive never thought i would say this because i LOVE the sims 4 but for a couple of months ive been playing only sims 3. and im not going back.. maybe ill give only 1 chance if in a couple of years there is a sims 5. but i dont know.
Honestly, I might just switch to Paralives. It has a height slider and the style of the game looks really cute. Honestly seems more advanced than the Sims base game right now and it's not even done.
I never bothered playing the Sims 4. I saw this coming a mile away when they were just releasing it years ago. Sims 3 is the superior game in the franchise.
Sims 3 really is better in every way. I know a lot of people played it on computers that were old at the time and experienced lag if they used all the expansions at once, but that shouldn’t be a problem on our current hardware. idk I rarely had lag issues with it anyway.

Do not buy the crystals pack, y'all. You need to send EA a message and the only thing they understand is dollar signs. They'll remove that new in-game shopping button if their product starts to lose money. If you keep buying their packs, you're enabling the sleazy behavior.
You know they did this because people heard of For Rent being broken and didn't buy it, so now they try to force people to buy it with an obnoxious shopping cart when you try to play the game.

I don't think it was meant to pulsate all the time. I think the pulsation was supposed to be triggered by something, but it was broken like most things in the game. It makes sense to me that they would suggest Cottage Living if you enjoy farming, Strangeville if you enjoy science. And maybe the game's tracking BB searches and most used items in order to suggest packs with similar items. Also, advertising supernatural packs in fall, Romantic Garden in spring, Snow Adventures in winter and Island Living in summer. If works like that, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bug instead of a feature.
I don't care if it's a bug or not. No level of pulsing light is acceptable. It's the bare minimum standard of accessible design. If a game is released like that from the start and comes with a warning on the package, fine, I just won't buy it. But they've just made a game I already own unplayable. Their intention is completely irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, because either way, the effect is the same. I'm not even logging in to see if I have the pulsing light or not, because losing three days of my life lying in a dark room is too big a risk to take.

I had to restart so many times just to juck if my mods were working properly, so my ui was jumbled until the fourth log-in - therefore, i dont think I noticed. I saw the little cart button but was more focused on building to check it out.

Yeah, including the players that will have seizures from it or can't play because their health suffers cause of sensory issues, now, how is a button supposed to sell stuff if people can't even look at the horrible hazardous pulsating thing, and people without sensory issues just find it annoying, that's like lesson 101 on how to lose business and lose money, I mean, unless EA figured out a way to monetize their player's suffering and pain, next thing you know they'll be asking for bloood.
@onidaaitsubasa4177 My sensory issues aren't as bad as other people, but I also have ADHD, and my eyes keep looking up at the pulsating shopping cart while trying to play the game because it's right in my peripheral vision, and it's really distracting. I hope they fix this soon or, better yet, remove it entirely

Someone really needs to do the math and call them out publicly and we should make it go viral. We spend so much and they give us nothing in return it was the game’s anniversary and they didn’t give us or fixed anything pertinent I’m so over them.
I feel like it was designed to pulse and be annoying to constantly pester you until you buy. So many Free-To-Play games are designed to annoy you into buying things and EA has made it extremely obvious they want their piece of that pie. I hope everyone boycotts any purchases until that button is gone.
Exactly, why do you think they keep trying to make the sims an online multi-player. It's because they are desperate to get a foothold in the microtransactions market, its why they started making kits in favour of packs because they were able to "trick" people into buying them because they were "cheap". Now they're just making it more obvious.

@@Charlee1776 Nah, too many people gobbled up kits without a seccond thought. Very few people saw them for what they were, and now EA isn't even bothering to hide it anymore. Hence why they thought they'd be able to get away with the shopping card in live-mode, because people were too lineant on Kits when they should have given it the My First Pet treatment from the start.
Based on lilsimsie's video today, I think you can have every pack and it will still annoy you.
There's people that can't even play cause of the button, there's people that will actually get seizures from the button, to me that doesn't sound like a successful way to sell content and packs, a way to cause pain and misery yeah, but not a way to make money selling packs, this will only cause the loyal players to start pirating, cause then at least you can avoid seizure inducing buttons.

I did one better, i uninstalled the game. Sad, but like a bad relationship I can definitely do better and i'm moving on. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

I stopped playing when I resumed my school year, so I have no attachment to the game anymore, at a point I was thinking of selling my EA account if it was possible.

I uninstalled coz I needed space lol. I had sims 2, 3, and 4 on my computer PLUS mods for all three! If I had to choose one to say goodbye to, it’d be sims 4 hands down! 😁

But sims 4 was also super laggy to me, literally could not play, sims would not do what I wanted them to do, and it was so annoying, so I uninstalled it.

This is a trigger for migraines, seizures, and more. I won't be playing the game until this is fixed. Not because I "don't want to," but because it's actually disabling. A vestibular migraine can put me out of commission for days. And seizures? I can't even get into it, I'm so frustrated and angry that this is the norm.
I can tell you why they did it. It's because people with disabilities are almost never considered (by everyone, not just EA) and when we are considered, it's an afterthought at best.
I don't care whether it's intentional or a bug. Either way it's completely unacceptable and they'd be better off to disable the game until they've fixed it. This is a health hazard.

You are totally correct, I’m a disabled simmer who chooses to play on console because it is more comfortable for me and oh the way they screw over console players and break the controls. as a game tester i can explain how it got "missed". there are two scenarios (allegedly, in my opinion):
1. testers were given a specification of how the feature should look like, flashing lights and all. during previous bugs controversies is was alleged that sims 4 testing team is pretty small. combine it with deadlines, testers maximum would check that everything is how it's written in specification, and report encountered inconsistencies and bugs, no more than that. if flashing was in specification - it was not a bug.
2. testers did see flashing as bug and reported it. the report could've been sent to backlogs for future fixes, or outright dissmissed, with reason being "flshing is a feature".
bonus scenario: testers just missed it. (most unlikely)
i personaly think it's the 1st scenario.
as it is a feature that goes with marketing, the request to create it most likely came from marketing department. development team (which includes testers) just did what was requested.

Incidentally, the new update caused a new bug in my game that makes it unplayable. Some of my sims will randomly not be able to open and/or use the interact menus or see certain interactions for objects and sims. There doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to reset or fix it, either.
Um, if you use mods, update your main mods like MCCC, check for updates for any UI mods you might have, UI cheats etc, check for any updates to mods that help the game be less laggy, use the Better Extensions mod and activate the testing cheats in your game, testing cheats on, cause if any mods are having trouble cause of the update Better Extensions can help find if it's an affected mod, or something in the game, if you're on console, then you'll have to wait for EA to fix it.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 I haven’t turned mods back on after the update-waiting for them to be updated by the mod creators. This problem is totally vanilla, and I’ve had some people on my bug report comment that they’ve been having the problem too (some of them on console)

It does not matter, they have their app with all the DLC there.. browse any and all packs all you want.. it tells you every pack you have and all packs you do not have.. really do not need a blinking button on the game itself to tell me what I already know on the app itself..

As someone with ADHD it's an incredibly distracting button 😔 Takes me completely out of my down time escape, especially since it's located in an area of the screen I'm constantly going back to as a rotational household player

I quit playing TS4 because I was tired of all the bugs and then tried TS3... but that was quickly killed because I had to have both Origin and the EA app installed..
The love of the game I had, is gone. Their greed and the lack of care caused it.
You dont have to have either for ts3 if you have the pc disks like I do😂
There’s a way to keep origin and block the ea app.
I still play TS3 and was actually forced to switch over to the EA app. It didn't work with Origin anymore. I've heard lots of people having trouble with the combination of TS3 + the EA app, but I'm one of the lucky ones and it works with no issues for me, so I still enjoy my TS3 game

I get migraines from flashing lights. I have epilepsy-like symptoms and this is driving me nuts.
IF EA ignores this they will get sued for ignoring these complaints and implementing harmful features in a game towards people with disabilities. Usually a game must have a warning to it that some features flash so that the company doesn't get sued. EA doesn't even care lol but they will lose big time if they don't remove it!
We really need to just band together and sue ea, how they've gone this far without being sued is beyond me...

It's kinda sad as a Simmer who loves the game. I enjoy playing the Sims 4 and have spent more than 1k on the game. I still like playing the game and am looking forward to the new pack. Idk why EA has to do stuff like this? All they are doing is ruining the game and losing players along the way. It really sucks cause I love the game but hate the company because of all there money grabbing bullshit. At this point, im not even looking to project Rene even if it is the sims 5

@lizysims4349 if you still love the game, cherish it. With regret I have to adnit that I lost the love and stopped playing more than 2 years ago. Constant updates of the game, then removing mods, checking for mod updates and lack of gameplay did it for me. Too mich hassleand too little fun.

Yeah I won't be buying another Sims game ever again. And as a simmer who has played it all my life from the first to current, it's incredibly sad. "Project Rene" is the final nail in the coffin for this franchise.
As one of their players with sensory that include flashing lights. I find this intrusive and trouble some as many simmers use the game as a way to take a break from the world around and a good portion of us like, FakeGamerGirl here on TH-cam have special needs or sensory problems. I won't be surprise if several people stop playing all together or wait until one of the communities amazing Moders create a mod to disable it.
I use the game as a way to take my mind off the everyday stress of ableism and barriers to accessibility I encounter in academia.
Ironically, I now can't even play the game because it's become inaccessible to people with my disabilities (and many people with other kinds of disabilities, too).
They did it on purpose. Their "reported feature" said that some may get this enblazon feature... if the button was just up there not green and flashing at least you could ignore it. The way it is you can't. It was totally freeking lilsimsie out when she went into the game after the update.
First thing I said on hearing this is that they'll call it an 'unintended bug', even though it wasn't. That way they can back track on the flashing, while still keeping the icon there and claim to have 'fixed' it.
it's not just the pulsating trash can button but also it broke some sim interactions too making my game unplayable. (and several people's games, the thread on the EA website is 16 pages long and counting...)
Forget about that new crystal meth pack if I can't even play the game lmao. Never getting any packs from them anymore unless if they're being given away for free.
Update: so apparently the problem is caused when your sim has a level 5 or higher skill in singing so you have to cheat it down to make the sim playable again. Which really sucks for me because one of my main sims is a singer and it’s part of my lore. They didn’t make lores for this game so we had to make our own but now my lore is broken too so I’m just gonna take a break from this game because this is annoying

things pulsate like that in mobile games sometimes so i 100% think it was a decision to purposely do so, not realizing in alienates people with sensory issues and people who get seizures like myself until now they are getting feedback from people who actually have problems so instead of owning up they are going to insist it's a bug because i doubt they'll want to admit they didn't have everyone in mind
With how things are going with the sims 4, the moment Paralives comes out I'm making the switch. My game runs fine but is still having saving issues and previews on packs in the menu are still red x's and not showing up.
From playing the Sims 3 as a kid to playing the Sims 4 now, I'm extremely disappointed in how the franchise is going.
I did start with the Sims 2... and I have had some "moments" already in the Sims 3 which I didn't like, but overall Sims 3 brought a lot to the game. It was and still is the best Life Sim... And yes, I'm going to switch to Paralives, and to be honest I actually wouldn't mind paying some for Paralives and it's future updates/packs... They deserve it. All that passion that was put into the Sims 1,2,3... is just gone for the 4th game.

Happy to see more people are uninstalling. I quit Sims 4 once I saw "My First Pet" with small animals as a separate pack from Cats & Dogs. Was shaking my head once I saw horses as a separate pack too. You just can't do that after having a full Pets pack in Sims 3. Disgusting.
Sims 2 and 1 both had complete packs for each expansion realease too. Its just Sims 4
This is a huge problem. There are thousands of people who can't have pulsing things because of seizures or other conditions. It's a health risk they have to fix right away and could EA be made held accountable because of it
i used to LOVE the sims but with every update and DLC that comes out my desire to play the game has been slowly waning. every time i try to play the game i just get irritated and then stop playing after 20 minutes. last time i played was probs months ago and honestly i don’t see myself picking up the game again with the way things are going at this rate

Absolutely same. I was excited for the idea of For Rent, but of course waited to see the reviews. I haven't even opened the Sims to play since that whole thing. I am not inspired to play a game that - even after spending a lot of money (even only buying on sale items) - is bugged and problematic. I was already putting a pause on buying anything (didn't buy anything during January sale like I normally would). But now I'm in the mood to cut my losses, uninstall and reclaim the space on the hardrive. That has greater value for me, after all this BS.
The last thing we bought was Werewolves and I stopped playing (mainly building) well over a year ago, aside from a couple of very minor times. Stopped updating the game too and it was only this last Xmas that I decided to go back and finish the game I'd started. Seemed silly to have spent all that time just to abandon it. Once that's done I'll be uninstalling it.
No, don't... It just doesn't worth it. I recommend the Sims 2 with fun, and realistic mods and skin/hair/clohing replacement... That game actually feels like a life simulation game. Not to mention the Sims 3, although I don't play too much with it, since I like creating my own worlds... and in the Sims 3 it's a bit hard.
I have ADHD. i literally had to close my game because i could not take it anymore. the pulsating is equivalent to someone constantly knocking on my shoulder while i'm trying to concentrate on drawing/reading for example. it is INFURIATING.

Clicked on the button because I was confused but after seeing what it was, I was immediately turned off of the game and ended up just logging off for the night. Very tempted to uninstall all together after this. It’s screaming cash grabbing and the fact they’re dodging any sort of responsibility is just gross.
They even lie saying this is a bug, I am not updating until this is removed and that means not buying any dlc ever again if they wont, I am 64 years old and are very capable of knowing what I want to buy or not to buy.
At this point I use the game as a building simulator
It's the most stable part of the game, and the most complete. And the game updates too often to be worth the mod maintenance for my play style. I'll probably play more with the rest of the game when they abandon it and I can properly accumulate mods again lmao.

The fact that the Sims 4 has still been going on after a decade and Sims 5 isn’t a thing yet, lets me know that they don’t give af. Milking a game that’s 10 years old is insane.
Worst part is, TS4 is a through and through *really* bad and *really* expensive game.
I, like many others, have played Sims since one of the previous games, and many have played it since the very first game, like I have. And I think most of us who has been a fan since the first, are *only* putting money into TS4 in the faint hope that a future TS5 will be a *real* addition to the franchise and save it, but judging from how far TS4 strayed from the essence of the first 3 games, and seeing what they're doing with "Project Renee," I'm afraid that TS3 was the last game which was true to the spirit and the humor of the franchise.
The TS4 team has clearly *NO* grasp on the concept of what made the first 3 games SO great, as TS4 lacks in *every* aspects. The humour, the detail, the chaos, and the WTF'ness is utterly gone in TS4 which makes it feel like an empty shell.

I'm also an autistic woman, but other than that i have photosensitivity and a malformation of my eyes...that button is as annoying as painful to look at.
Its interesting that, despite having the update, this genuinely isnt showing up on console, and worse, a completely new issue has come up where players are having issues performing self interactions or socializing with other sims. Clicking on the controlled sim brings up nothing, as does clicking on other sims as that sim.
I have seen it it's not a bug, it's a surprise feature that is immersion breaking and it's annoying to see that pulsating shopping cart.
EA has to ruin it by annoying the player at least they fixed some of the proformance issues mostly from for rent.

Called it. The first thing I said when I heard about the constant flashing was they'd call it a bug. This is absolutely them testing the waters and seeing how far they can push it, all in prep for Renee. They give you two things (an icon and flashing), one worse than the other just so they can fix the biggest offender (flashing) to try and make themselves look good.

Honestly, I might just switch to Paralives. It has a height slider and the style of the game looks really cute. Honestly seems more advanced than the Sims base game right now and it's not even done.

I never bothered playing the Sims 4. I saw this coming a mile away when they were just releasing it years ago. Sims 3 is the superior game in the franchise.

Sims 3 really is better in every way. I know a lot of people played it on computers that were old at the time and experienced lag if they used all the expansions at once, but that shouldn’t be a problem on our current hardware. idk I rarely had lag issues with it anyway.
I stopped playing Sims 4 because I got tired of all the bugs and the abuse, EA is disgusting and I'm so happy enjoying Sims 2 without any issues. All of this is intentional, they don't care about players, never have, never will...
We really got a shop button before burglars & spiral staircases. Where are their priorities? It's obviously $$$

When I heard that it constantly flashes I thought of strobe lights and I got scared cause that’s not good for me since I have epilepsy 😭

Do not buy the crystals pack, y'all. You need to send EA a message and the only thing they understand is dollar signs. They'll remove that new in-game shopping button if their product starts to lose money. If you keep buying their packs, you're enabling the sleazy behavior.
You know they did this because people heard of For Rent being broken and didn't buy it, so now they try to force people to buy it with an obnoxious shopping cart when you try to play the game.
I believe that this is a feature and not a bug. The Sims team posted in there update notes that the button will flash constantly. If this is no longer showing in the sims patch notes, pleaee watch LilSimsie video on this she posted yesterday, 2/27/2024.
I can't wait for Life by You and Paralives to come out. Sims 4 is last game I will buy. Maybe we need government to regulate gaming companies.

As you cannot contact EA directly...EVER about a customer complaint...EVER...I'll have to post my comment here. Cannot find anywhere else that EA might see this. PLEASE REMOVE the shopping button and don't EVER replace it with anything similar. 'nuff said. Thanks Pixelade for posting this! Let's hope they remove the darn thing! Thanks.
I don't think it was meant to pulsate all the time. I think the pulsation was supposed to be triggered by something, but it was broken like most things in the game. It makes sense to me that they would suggest Cottage Living if you enjoy farming, Strangeville if you enjoy science. And maybe the game's tracking BB searches and most used items in order to suggest packs with similar items. Also, advertising supernatural packs in fall, Romantic Garden in spring, Snow Adventures in winter and Island Living in summer. If works like that, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bug instead of a feature.
I don't care if it's a bug or not. No level of pulsing light is acceptable. It's the bare minimum standard of accessible design.
If a game is released like that from the start and comes with a warning on the package, fine, I just won't buy it. But they've just made a game I already own unplayable.
Their intention is completely irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, because either way, the effect is the same.
I'm not even logging in to see if I have the pulsing light or not, because losing three days of my life lying in a dark room is too big a risk to take.
It feels desperate. I guess they see on the numbers that sales are not so good anymore. I for sure don't buy buggy DLC's. Typical Corporate solution for shareholders, blame the customer and push them to buy buy buy. I was excited for Sims 5, I am not anymore, gladly there are competitors coming, Paralives and Live by you.
I have not even updated my game and I have not got this button yet but because of it and knowing how much it will annoy me I'm actually considering deleting the game even though I was looking forward to the new crystal pack
There is no amount of flashing buttons that will make me buy the Journey to Butthole pack. EA can suck it!

All this just makes me so glad that there are so many life sims on the horizon.
I had to restart so many times just to juck if my mods were working properly, so my ui was jumbled until the fourth log-in - therefore, i dont think I noticed. I saw the little cart button but was more focused on building to check it out.
People on EA are insane, i feel bad for the developers, i'm 100% sure thats not their fault. People who dont know nothing about games like CEOs, are the blame,please dont put CEOs in this kind of company, who dont know nothing about games, not even know about maneging a major company. In fact who are in front of the sims right now are a peace of 💩.
We're in 2024 with better technology than before. I'm still lost at how they dropped the ball with Sims 4. I'm already waiting on Paralives. I've given EA chances for YEARS. I'm tired.
I was all ready to buy the Crystal Creations thing, then I heard about the shopping button and now I don't even want to open my game. Waiting for the button to go completely away, then I might sim again.
