I don't like that they're forcing even a single update. When I bought Sims 4 back when it launched, I was signing up for something like the Sims 3, with occasional packs and an offline, singleplayer experience. I'm really tired of them forcing Sims 4 to be more and more online. If I don't have internet, I can't play a game I originally bought as a disc, which is awful.
How do you get it to load with no Internet? It always forces a load for me, although it doesn't need much unless it's loading a new expansion, even updates don:t take long. Most likely if your game physically can't get on the Internet and yet it loads, you should be able to play it bugs and all until it can connect. It's just you will never get any bugs fixes or be able to play any future additions to the game or any mods. And the minute it can connect to download the update, it is likely to take a long time, and possibly wipe out some of the stuff you were using from the old version. It will write over the old game and possibly change objects etc. It is best to update by or on the date they give.

they already have a tool for giving us new content, it calls Sims Delivery Express and they said it will appear monthly. And then they abandon it for this BS

Why couldn't they have introduced more scenarios where the items are the rewards?? Pulls more engagement, makes them easier to claim for the items people want because they can choose the scenario? They keep introducing new things and then never touching them again smh
That's such a good idea! I had totally forgotten about scenarios, but to be fair, so have the sims team. But yeah, one of the reasons I didn't bother with them much was because the rewards were boring, but earning a new item would be a cool reward. You should definitely suggest that on the survey if you haven't filled it out yet.

Playing TS4 seems like a huge amount of work, I'm tired just hearing about it Call me an old man, but back in the day I bought the game, played the game, and updates weren't treated like natural catastrophes

Before update -- Me: Able to log in with mods and get through loading screens After update --Me: Can't claim rewards without needs to shut off mods, can't get through a single loading screen without it taking literal hours, game force shuts itself after I decide to have my sims travel or take a vacation. Fun times. Really. contacting support and they tell me to reinstall the game and they issues still exist. You repair the broken game as per their instructions and it still does the same things.
@@PurrfectlyMediocre I make sure to keep my mods up to date though. I've been playing these past couple of days without any major mods except for better build buy and twisted mexi mods. I just cant get the rewards without having to shut off mods every time despite having 1-2 mods installed.

Many of the bug fixes will never apply to older/legacy saves; the update lists will tell you when this is the case so it's not necessarily about people who don't update right away. It's frustrating for anyone who prefers to use old saves because they're all set-up and have Sims you're attached to but If you're experiencing a lot of bugs/glitches make sure you confirm if in a completely new save that it's still happening. It's probably a good idea to start up a completely new Save every so often for this reason (even if you're using it to Save As from.) I mean, to be fair, I never really get attached to my Sims FOR THIS REASON (or at least not the townies... I'm only willing to migrate so many Sims to a new save just to be safe) and I don't play very often because set-up is time-consuming, especially since I get sucked into CAS, I can't just accept a random generated Sim as is lol. I wish EA would STOP pushing for new content TBH. Let the Sims 4 be COMPLETED so we can finally get the major bugs fixed, hopefully no new ones introduced, STOP breaking various CC/Mods that were usable but no longer being updated... I'm just tired of it. But yes ofc always update your mods after a Maxis Update and get into the habit of recycling the localthumbcache package in the Sims 4 fold er afterward if not after each game session. It's the major cache file for the entire game so it can help to generate a new one sometimes. Also, limit the amount of Saves in the folder; remove and squirrel away any really old and mostly unused saves for safe-keeping elsewhere. Create duplicates just in case and maintain your CC.
I 100% agree, except I maintain copies of some Sims families to reinstall as needed. I don't have time to play often, and I usually have to remove and reinstall a few mods via 3 different methods and delete the localthumbcache package file.
@GaryRoseCO Yes! I do have library saves of any Sims families that I played a fair bit. Actually, I was slowly going through my old saves to update and save them a new to my library for a major migration and eventual further cleanup of my old save files down to one or two only, transplanting them all into a new file, but these new updates/releases/events and now issues with the EA app have soured me on even doing that. (I'd actually be done already but my problem is I get sucked into CAS makeovers formain fam and any townies I decide to keep, and then playing a bit further on the fam's aspirations and before I know it the whole evening is gone lol.)
The whole fun of the game to me is getting to a point where I have mostly game-born sims in interconnected families, without that I am just not connected to the game at all. I do save-as on occassion and have save back-ups. I love generational play, even though I usually play in long infrequent sessions as opposed to frequent sessions, when I do play its about coming back to that long-invested in set of families. And to sit with them for awhile. If I spend more than 10 minutes in CAS I’m bored when its a fresh save, but for long invested in famlies when they age up or I am cultivating some pack feature into their lives I find I get way more invested.
Re: completing ts4 and just fixing it, I wouldn’t hold my breath. They know many of us won’t be playing rene, so they’ll still try to milk us for new ts4 content as much as they can, and they’ll never fix all the bugs. As soon as ts4 becomes less profitable they’ll abandon it and focus on Rene or whatever it’s going to be called by then. Many players will play anything ea gives them, bugs or not, so they have no incentive to actually work for the money. ALSO, olympus - aka ts4 - is pure spaghetti code. It simply can’t be fixed without an enormous amount of financial and human resources, which they won’t expend because they want to earn money while doing the absolute least. Funny thing about the survey that I’ll mention because I found it funny (not HAHA funny): I didn’t finish and submit it because my tablet ran out of power, and I simply can’t fill it again to actually submit it. Hm.
Is that login event really encourages anybody to play a game? It only make me want to log in and leave. I don't like being forced to do things I don't feel like doing at the moment. I have episodes that I can play the game everyday for several hours (if it works) and sometimes I'd rather not touch it for months. Anyway - that event doesn't show up in my game (yes, it's up to date & no mods)
To be honest, I didn't play the game for 1 minute since the event started. I just open it, take the thing and close. I don't have the energy to play recently and just don't want to, but I don't want to be bothered with keeping up with another CC after that so I want to have those things linked to account. But I don't envy the person who will have to read my survey, it's basically a novel 😂
fun fact - piracy allows you to install a game and it's updates at your own pace, leading to less issues with lagging, glitches, and overall feature creep, not to mention giving you the freedom to install any packs you like at any time with no restrictions on specific times to download the DLC during or daily streaks you need to consistently log in for between your regular, day-to-day life.
I just commented this on another video about this, before they confirmed. It seemed like it was a onetime thing, because there's no way they are messing with the ecosystem of players that use mods and modders that create them. Taking away offline mode would have cost them thousands of players.
Anyone else not having those log in rewards at all? I've tried EVERYTHING and they won't show up. 😵💫 I have three kids and not a lot of time for that. And then I just have to spend an hour trying to set this up 😡
The first batch of them went up a few days ago, it looks like the next won't be up for a while, I'm not 100% sure but it looks like they're spreading it out. The whole thing has been confusing and weird. Mine had a count down on it the other day for the next set but i don't remember for how long.
Sadly, you have to manually turn off script and mods if you have any and relaunch the app. The pop up should be clickable after that. That's if you have mods though since it conflicts with the login rewards.
They have said that this feature is rolling out, so it's possible that you haven't received it yet. Also, do you use mods? There are a couple of mods, if you have not updated them, that can block the pop-up and make the info card unclickable. You could either try updating mods , simply start the game with mods disabled, or move/ rename your Mods folder temporarily and start the game just long enough to claim the rewards.
I logged in like 4 times and haven’t received them. I did also log in on my account on another pc where my game is unmodded and it’s neither there, so I don’t understand why I don’t have them
They need to fix the gallery bug. I can no longer see ALL of my favorites. I can only see the same 15 favorites. I have to save everything to my library.
I hate the login events, but in this instance, I am somewhat comforted by the team's inability to commit to any decisions and changes they make and follow through in the future with them. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a one-time thing. When did we last see a scenario, a lifestyle, Sims Sessions, etc? Even SDX drops seem to have tapered off or gotten less interesting. They try to throw everything at the wall to save this game, give up after one try, and move onto the next gimmick.
Oh yeah for sure, given their track record I’d be absolutely floored if this ever happened again, lmao. I don’t have much of an opinion on them, personally, but that’s largely based on the fact I assumed immediately this would be the one and only time it happens because the team is too lazy to keep this shit up.
I think this depends on how you look at it. Example, my neice only has the base game and 1 pack and unless I buy them for her she's not getting anymore as her father won't buy them. In that situation I love that she can get these items for free. I'm hoping if they do this again that they will have "brand new to the game" items for those who do have multiple packs.
I'm confused about who is NOT getting forced updates. I used origin until my game wouldn't open until I switched to the EA app and now if an update is pending it has to be updated before it will even open. so...this isn;t the same for everyone?
I think if you anticipate it enough and turn the EA app completely offline in the day(s) before the update goes live then the app doesn’t have access to the update and can’t force you into it. Obviously at the expense of new downloads and gallery access, so it isn’t technically an option…just a workaround for people who wanna play it safe.
I got the update last week, I didn't know that it had anything in it that would allow me to play offline, but last night my internet went out, for some stupid maintenance, it was after 2am actually, and first I thought I would play something on Steam, but then found out that now Steam doesn't seem to be letting us play offline, it wouldn't even open, so just for the heck of it I checked The SIms 4 on EA, and was shocked when The Sims 4 launched with no problems! So I just built a house while i waited for my internet to comeback on! So now I know why that happened, at least with The EA app! I know I also had recently update the EA app as well, so maybe that was also apart of that whole thing! I wonder if it was just a glitch with Steam though or if they are turning into the EA app, if they are not letting us play offline like they used to, then I would say yes they are acting like the EA app now, while EA is at least with TS4 being more like Steam has always been, it's weird! With these apps doing this shit of not letting us play offline, even with single player games, it's like we literally don't own any of the games we have on our PC's, even the ones we bought, even if they are one's we originally bought on disks, and just got a digital version, like with EA titles! Which makes me feel less and less like buying any games now, because no matter what, it really is like we don't actually own it! Because if we really owned single player games, then we wouldn't need to be online to play it at all! Also I admit I did want the recolored trash can and I wouldn't mind having the single square bar either, I've always wanted more colors for the ( what's it called? Nanocan? ) from the start, I don't care to use CC with my builds, I have at times over the years, but I don't care for it, because CC on Sims or builds gets labeled modded by the gallery, and then no one will even look at it, much less want to download it! So it's like why should I bother to share them? I do have some minor CC on Sims, which is skin details, I don't use CC hair, makeup or clothing anymore, I have on and off over the years, but I always turn around and remove it after awhile! But my Sims are still in Modded, since I still have the skin detail stuff, also I forgot that I still use LUUMIA's body hair over Maxis body hair, I think it looks better! Sure they don't have it for women's legs or something, but since Maxis version makes body hair on females randomized, INCLUDING, chest, arms, and back, ( thought I use a mod that sometimes prevents it from happening, it doesn't always work though ) I really don't bother with it at all! But everytime a female child grows to teen, they get one of those three types of body hair, if not all three! It's fine if you want to have them available for some people to use, but, it shouldn't be randomized EVER! It's like some CC makers making their clothes, hair and skin randomized, which is another reason I prefer not to use CC anymore, because it tries to takeover my game, when I prefer to choose who has the CC and who doesn't! It's I get skin and every time all the randomized Sims or children of my own or townies no matter their natural skin color will turn out with dark skin, everytime! Every once in awhile I get one that makes everyone white too, but mostly they make everyone dark skinned, and yes I don't like either one! Also I suspect they do it on purpose too, with both!
I honestly find these login events very frustrating. I mean gaming should be at our convenience. I don't want to have to drop everything to log in my game just to get a item at a time every week. Why can't we have a regular update for new content? At my own convenience!?? Whole thing is dumb. No one asked for this. Besides that it's just more recycled stuff in a different color.
I don't care what their reason is. They should not force people to update their game! It's the players choice to update or not to update. It's look like a mobile game more and more and it's not a good thing
Here’s a wild theory. More updates to make it harder to use mods and cc. More reliance on the kits and expansions, especially with the upcoming romance expansion likely duplicating what modders have already provided.
I’m not having any major bugs, lags, etc. and I haven’t gotten the last 2/3 downloads (trying to avoid it) I really hope this doesn’t mess up my game, I just started my own sims TH-cam channel, it’s not going to be easy making videos if the game is too messed up.
I don't mind a big, mandatory update, if it makes things run smoother and fixes the weird shite I've had happening in my game. It's like when a bank announces they have their web bank down on x. day from x to x o'clock two weeks from now and people STILL lose their mind. I did roast them in the survey.
You have to go through a very specific set of steps (there is an official guide for this) to even activate DX11, so it's not something that is being forced on you or that will happen unintentionally. I am running my game fully updated with all 40K+ mod and CC files with no issues.
It runs on directx 9 by default so you can update safely. Just update your mods. For use with dx11 you need to use a seperate command line in game properties.
In fact, these rewards are already included in the game, I just noticed that my sim got the “practice makes perfect” trait by exploring the personality, and an auto-generated NPC has the newest hairstyle on her head, and it's not even time for these rewards to be claimed yet. This means that the new items are indeed included in the latest base game, but you won't be able to find them directly in CAS and build mode.
Personaly, even though I don't like the fomo aspect, I'm not opposed to events like this. The sims lacks progression and while this isnt exactly that, it at least give me a reason to log on. Too many times do I boot the game up and build a lot then get stuck thinking what to do now. This event doesn't fix that but if they do events where gameplay gets you points to unlocking new items, then that would be really fun.
You’d be surprised that common sense isn’t so common. From my experience in troubleshooting - There are players who have complained about a bug but haven’t updated their game where the bug is addressed. Some players will still say the game is broken when they’re using cc or mod (that may or may not need an update) instead of removing their mods folders. Cc can break just like mods which is another reason people shouldn’t download cc folders when downloading cc lots or sims from other players because organization can get iffy. That should be common sense - using a fresh save file and removing cc/mods alongside deleting the localthumbcache - but some people still make those mistakes and there is also an influx of new players who don’t know but want to use mods.
If you look at the Sim 4 reddit, 75% of posts complaining about weird/uncommon bugs are people playing with broken mods/CC. They swear they have no mods installed in the post, but when you read through their comments it comes out they do have mods but "I've never had issues with this mod before", so they didn't feel the need to say they play with mods. These same people then make bug reports to EA, which results in the devs wasting hours looking into the issue, because the person lied and said they had no mods installed.
This doesn't make any sense, and is definitely not good news. If you have a stable" version of the game that you're playing offline, why are they forcing you to update? If they're pressed about people reporting bugs for older versions, then just ask everyone which version of the game they're running.
I like these events, I'd love for them to keep going. Anything that motivates me to get to my computer and play is a positive. I also like that the awards are nice but not fantastic, so if i forget to log in I'm not hugely missing out.

The DX11 option works with a lot of mods without any issue. Peoples should get the game updates. Especially when playing with mods. The best mods are made to work with the latest version and may not work correctly, or even not at all, with an outdated game. Not all moder maintain legacy versions of their mods available.
Just started my game, got a pop up that reads: UPDATE YOUR GAME: Due to on going maintenance of EA app, older versions of the game will become incompatible after June 10. Update before then to keep launching your game normally.
I guess I’m confused because I have never been able to skip an update. I can’t even access my EA app/account without being online so it has always made me update when new updates arrive. Super annoying because for a long time I didn’t have internet and would have to use my hotspot just so I could log on to play my game offline. Happened with the Origin app, too. I sent feedback but nothing ever changed. So I guess to me I’m just jealous y’all went this long without being forced to update lol
my EA App won't even open today at all... wanted to play TS3 and its just... blank when I open the app... when it can't even open it is frustrating, and on top of all the shit happening it is more frustrating. I just want to play the games I paid for... 😄

Since the update I have the Problem that my sims hair color (cc) changes almost everytime they change their outfits. And they reset more oft3n than before and cancle a whole buch of tasks I asked them to do. All in all I think it performs better but it is not Bug Free. At least for me. (All my mods and cc are updated. I checked multiple Times. But I still dont get the Event popups either sooo...😂)
So I panicked for nothing. A bunch of guys are working on my mom's house and they cut a bunch of wires so our wifi is out and they didn't warn us beforehand so I was worried what would happen and had to use mom's Hotspot to update my game yesterday. I thought I'd never be able to play again. Why scare us like that??
If someone doesn’t have internet, how would they block them from continuing to play offline? I don’t think they can. It’s probably people that have internet that don’t use it for sims that they will be messing with. They can’t change what they can’t access.
I answered in all of the spaces that I would not launch the game for ANYTHING until I KNOW that all the core issues of the game have been fixed and putting out an expansion that caused corruption in people's save files was the final straw for me. NOTHING will make me launch the game. Period.
But what about The Sims 2 and The Sims 3? I still play both games. Would players still be able to load these games after this date? Since these games no longer receive updates. And some of us don’t have the Happy at Home Login events. It’s on my EA App menu, but I can’t even get it in The Sims 4 (with mods and CC disabled).
At least this new update did not break that many mods and the few it did were fixed quickly. At least for me that was the case. Still, no excuse for forced update, but at least mods aren't that big of an issue here. As for the survey, tell me, please, I am not the only one who wrote I prefer new scenarios over this kind of event? At least scenarios are fun (usually) and something you don't usually do in the game. This event? Just boring waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing else. And thanks for this video guide over the survey. Since I've got the survey in Czech language and the translations weren't always clear (especially in step 2), this video helped me to better understand the meaning of those questions, so, I didn't make any mistake out of misunderstanding them.
What I find funny personally is that people are upset about this..I play a multitude of games that get updates constantly and YEAH you gotta update the game to play them - even one's not online..because they are coming out with possible fixes or DLC's etc - yeah gotta update your game. Mine gets updated automatically.
You are not interested because you already have all DLC, I have all DLC too but those objects are important for people who can't have any DLCs, who just have the base game and console players too. How often do I need to write this? -.-
I think the key there is update and then LAUNCH THE GAME. I stopped playing the Sims 4 until they fix it. I'm not launching it for anything. Not their free gifts, not the threat of the game not working, not doing it for anything. And I think people like me making that decision is why they want us to "launch the game". They are seeing that older players, people who have been playing it for long time, AREN'T playing it much anymore so they are trying to get us to start up the game so we can be counted as having loaded it to play and be an "active player". Well I'm NOT an active player and not gonna fall for their tricks to be counted as one.
As far as I’m aware I’m on the latest patch but I can’t see the event. That’s fine with me though, I got the remeshed trash can off the gallery and that’s all I wanted anyway 😂
So I caught that right you can play Sims 4 offline, that's cool and all, but why can't those who play Sims 3 are unable to play offline and is forced to launch through the EA App. We should have to be forced to have to be logged in for a Decade+ old game. Also get rid of the Rewards for reskin/retextured items that already exist in the game. I tested it out with sorting out rewards and selecting colors and I was able to see and place all reward items before they were all "unlocked" Stop with this Play to win B.S. If I want a play to win game then I will do so if the game was originally designed with that model in mind. Also for the next gen Sims include Seasons, pets, city living life style with the base game.
My game works perfectly now that I stopped updating it like a year ago. I refuse to update it and deal with their endless bugs and the ridiculous shopping cart.
I do not like the wording either way.. it really is no different.. its a forced update by June 10th or you do not get to play.. where was all that written when I originally purchased the game 10 years ago? Why does anyone at any time ever have to update their game.. it could simply be, either you update your game, or if you can not show your game as being updated, then we just do not help you with your game problems.. with every update that comes, comes new problems as well.. more bugs, it should be an option, you can open your game, we can have an option on the app to not update the game, but if its not updated, we will not be assisting you with your problems.. You are simply on your own.. and with all new updates also comes new contract deals you have to agree to in order to even use the app.. and its a no choice option.. either accept it, or your game will not work any more.. You can have over 1000 bucks into the game, and tens of thousands of hours of work or time in the game.. its often work getting it all the way you want it for game play.. and then they an just come along and say, we are shutting you down if you do not update?

I have no problem with being obligated to update providing the updates work. I don’t mind removing mods and waiting while they catch up. I do resent updating then finding that something else gets broken and needing a patch for the update. If you are going to do it, do it right first time!
The update really upset me because I was just building a house for my new gameplay family. It was looking so nice and then these ea assholes fucking took me out of my game without a warning or chance to save my game

Why couldn't they have introduced more scenarios where the items are the rewards?? Pulls more engagement, makes them easier to claim for the items people want because they can choose the scenario? They keep introducing new things and then never touching them again smh
That's such a good idea! I had totally forgotten about scenarios, but to be fair, so have the sims team.
But yeah, one of the reasons I didn't bother with them much was because the rewards were boring, but earning a new item would be a cool reward.

Before update -- Me: Able to log in with mods and get through loading screens
After update --Me: Can't claim rewards without needs to shut off mods, can't get through a single loading screen without it taking literal hours, game force shuts itself after I decide to have my sims travel or take a vacation. Fun times. Really.
contacting support and they tell me to reinstall the game and they issues still exist. You repair the broken game as per their instructions and it still does the same things.
There are a couple of mods, if you have not updated them, that can block the pop-up and make the info card unclickable.
@@PurrfectlyMediocre I make sure to keep my mods up to date though. I've been playing these past couple of days without any major mods except for better build buy and twisted mexi mods. I just cant get the rewards without having to shut off mods every time despite having 1-2 mods installed.

They are desperate for players, it literally made people go and update their game or redownload it to make sure that update was performed...
Many of the bug fixes will never apply to older/legacy saves; the update lists will tell you when this is the case so it's not necessarily about people who don't update right away. It's frustrating for anyone who prefers to use old saves because they're all set-up and have Sims you're attached to but If you're experiencing a lot of bugs/glitches make sure you confirm if in a completely new save that it's still happening. It's probably a good idea to start up a completely new Save every so often for this reason (even if you're using it to Save As from.) I mean, to be fair, I never really get attached to my Sims FOR THIS REASON (or at least not the townies... I'm only willing to migrate so many Sims to a new save just to be safe) and I don't play very often because set-up is time-consuming, especially since I get sucked into CAS, I can't just accept a random generated Sim as is lol. I wish EA would STOP pushing for new content TBH.
Let the Sims 4 be COMPLETED so we can finally get the major bugs fixed, hopefully no new ones introduced, STOP breaking various CC/Mods that were usable but no longer being updated... I'm just tired of it. But yes ofc always update your mods after a Maxis Update and get into the habit of recycling the localthumbcache package in the Sims 4 fold er afterward if not after each game session. It's the major cache file for the entire game so it can help to generate a new one sometimes. Also, limit the amount of Saves in the folder; remove and squirrel away any really old and mostly unused saves for safe-keeping elsewhere. Create duplicates just in case and maintain your CC.
I 100% agree, except I maintain copies of some Sims families to reinstall as needed. I don't have time to play often, and I usually have to remove and reinstall a few mods via 3 different methods and delete the localthumbcache package file.
@GaryRoseCO Yes! I do have library saves of any Sims families that I played a fair bit. Actually, I was slowly going through my old saves to update and save them a new to my library for a major migration and eventual further cleanup of my old save files down to one or two only, transplanting them all into a new file, but these new updates/releases/events and now issues with the EA app have soured me on even doing that. (I'd actually be done already but my problem is I get sucked into CAS makeovers formain fam and any townies I decide to keep, and then playing a bit further on the fam's aspirations and before I know it the whole evening is gone lol.)
The whole fun of the game to me is getting to a point where I have mostly game-born sims in interconnected families, without that I am just not connected to the game at all. I do save-as on occassion and have save back-ups. I love generational play, even though I usually play in long infrequent sessions as opposed to frequent sessions, when I do play its about coming back to that long-invested in set of families. And to sit with them for awhile.
If I spend more than 10 minutes in CAS I’m bored when its a fresh save, but for long invested in famlies when they age up or I am cultivating some pack feature into their lives I find I get way more invested.

Re: completing ts4 and just fixing it, I wouldn’t hold my breath. They know many of us won’t be playing rene, so they’ll still try to milk us for new ts4 content as much as they can, and they’ll never fix all the bugs. As soon as ts4 becomes less profitable they’ll abandon it and focus on Rene or whatever it’s going to be called by then. Many players will play anything ea gives them, bugs or not, so they have no incentive to actually work for the money.
ALSO, olympus - aka ts4 - is pure spaghetti code. It simply can’t be fixed without an enormous amount of financial and human resources, which they won’t expend because they want to earn money while doing the absolute least.

Is that login event really encourages anybody to play a game? It only make me want to log in and leave. I don't like being forced to do things I don't feel like doing at the moment. I have episodes that I can play the game everyday for several hours (if it works) and sometimes I'd rather not touch it for months. Anyway - that event doesn't show up in my game (yes, it's up to date & no mods)
To be honest, I didn't play the game for 1 minute since the event started. I just open it, take the thing and close. I don't have the energy to play recently and just don't want to, but I don't want to be bothered with keeping up with another CC after that so I want to have those things linked to account. But I don't envy the person who will have to read my survey, it's basically a novel 😂
fun fact - piracy allows you to install a game and it's updates at your own pace, leading to less issues with lagging, glitches, and overall feature creep, not to mention giving you the freedom to install any packs you like at any time with no restrictions on specific times to download the DLC during or daily streaks you need to consistently log in for between your regular, day-to-day life.
I just commented this on another video about this, before they confirmed. It seemed like it was a onetime thing, because there's no way they are messing with the ecosystem of players that use mods and modders that create them. Taking away offline mode would have cost them thousands of players.
Anyone else not having those log in rewards at all? I've tried EVERYTHING and they won't show up. 😵💫 I have three kids and not a lot of time for that. And then I just have to spend an hour trying to set this up 😡
The first batch of them went up a few days ago, it looks like the next won't be up for a while, I'm not 100% sure but it looks like they're spreading it out. The whole thing has been confusing and weird. Mine had a count down on it the other day for the next set but i don't remember for how long.
Sadly, you have to manually turn off script and mods if you have any and relaunch the app. The pop up should be clickable after that. That's if you have mods though since it conflicts with the login rewards.
They have said that this feature is rolling out, so it's possible that you haven't received it yet. Also, do you use mods? There are a couple of mods, if you have not updated them, that can block the pop-up and make the info card unclickable. You could either try updating mods , simply start the game with mods disabled, or move/ rename your Mods folder temporarily and start the game just long enough to claim the rewards.

I logged in like 4 times and haven’t received them. I did also log in on my account on another pc where my game is unmodded and it’s neither there, so I don’t understand why I don’t have them
They need to fix the gallery bug. I can no longer see ALL of my favorites. I can only see the same 15 favorites. I have to save everything to my library.
I hate the login events, but in this instance, I am somewhat comforted by the team's inability to commit to any decisions and changes they make and follow through in the future with them. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a one-time thing. When did we last see a scenario, a lifestyle, Sims Sessions, etc? Even SDX drops seem to have tapered off or gotten less interesting. They try to throw everything at the wall to save this game, give up after one try, and move onto the next gimmick.
Oh yeah for sure, given their track record I’d be absolutely floored if this ever happened again, lmao. I don’t have much of an opinion on them, personally, but that’s largely based on the fact I assumed immediately this would be the one and only time it happens because the team is too lazy to keep this shit up.

I think this depends on how you look at it. Example, my neice only has the base game and 1 pack and unless I buy them for her she's not getting anymore as her father won't buy them. In that situation I love that she can get these items for free. I'm hoping if they do this again that they will have "brand new to the game" items for those who do have multiple packs.
I'm confused about who is NOT getting forced updates. I used origin until my game wouldn't open until I switched to the EA app and now if an update is pending it has to be updated before it will even open. so...this isn;t the same for everyone?
If you go offline on the app you can circumvent updating

I think if you anticipate it enough and turn the EA app completely offline in the day(s) before the update goes live then the app doesn’t have access to the update and can’t force you into it. Obviously at the expense of new downloads and gallery access, so it isn’t technically an option…just a workaround for people who wanna play it safe.
The best thing about the log in event is the bin recolour. IMO it's now the best looking bin in the game. It has nice swatches and a nice texture.

I got the update last week, I didn't know that it had anything in it that would allow me to play offline, but last night my internet went out, for some stupid maintenance, it was after 2am actually, and first I thought I would play something on Steam, but then found out that now Steam doesn't seem to be letting us play offline, it wouldn't even open, so just for the heck of it I checked The SIms 4 on EA, and was shocked when The Sims 4 launched with no problems! So I just built a house while i waited for my internet to comeback on! So now I know why that happened, at least with The EA app! I know I also had recently update the EA app as well, so maybe that was also apart of that whole thing!
I wonder if it was just a glitch with Steam though or if they are turning into the EA app, if they are not letting us play offline like they used to, then I would say yes they are acting like the EA app now, while EA is at least with TS4 being more like Steam has always been, it's weird!
With these apps doing this shit of not letting us play offline, even with single player games, it's like we literally don't own any of the games we have on our PC's, even the ones we bought, even if they are one's we originally bought on disks, and just got a digital version, like with EA titles! Which makes me feel less and less like buying any games now, because no matter what, it really is like we don't actually own it! Because if we really owned single player games, then we wouldn't need to be online to play it at all!
Also I admit I did want the recolored trash can and I wouldn't mind having the single square bar either, I've always wanted more colors for the ( what's it called? Nanocan? ) from the start, I don't care to use CC with my builds, I have at times over the years, but I don't care for it, because CC on Sims or builds gets labeled modded by the gallery, and then no one will even look at it, much less want to download it! So it's like why should I bother to share them? I do have some minor CC on Sims, which is skin details, I don't use CC hair, makeup or clothing anymore, I have on and off over the years, but I always turn around and remove it after awhile! But my Sims are still in Modded, since I still have the skin detail stuff, also I forgot that I still use LUUMIA's body hair over Maxis body hair, I think it looks better! Sure they don't have it for women's legs or something, but since Maxis version makes body hair on females randomized, INCLUDING, chest, arms, and back, ( thought I use a mod that sometimes prevents it from happening, it doesn't always work though ) I really don't bother with it at all! But everytime a female child grows to teen, they get one of those three types of body hair, if not all three!
It's fine if you want to have them available for some people to use, but, it shouldn't be randomized EVER! It's like some CC makers making their clothes, hair and skin randomized, which is another reason I prefer not to use CC anymore, because it tries to takeover my game, when I prefer to choose who has the CC and who doesn't! It's I get skin and every time all the randomized Sims or children of my own or townies no matter their natural skin color will turn out with dark skin, everytime! Every once in awhile I get one that makes everyone white too, but mostly they make everyone dark skinned, and yes I don't like either one! Also I suspect they do it on purpose too, with both!
I honestly find these login events very frustrating. I mean gaming should be at our convenience. I don't want to have to drop everything to log in my game just to get a item at a time every week. Why can't we have a regular update for new content? At my own convenience!?? Whole thing is dumb. No one asked for this. Besides that it's just more recycled stuff in a different color.

Here’s a wild theory. More updates to make it harder to use mods and cc. More reliance on the kits and expansions, especially with the upcoming romance expansion likely duplicating what modders have already provided.
I’m not having any major bugs, lags, etc. and I haven’t gotten the last 2/3 downloads (trying to avoid it) I really hope this doesn’t mess up my game, I just started my own sims TH-cam channel, it’s not going to be easy making videos if the game is too messed up.

DX11 is optional even after updating
DX11 is optional.... you can update your game in piece. There is no DX11 game running after that.
You have to go through a very specific set of steps (there is an official guide for this) to even activate DX11, so it's not something that is being forced on you or that will happen unintentionally. I am running my game fully updated with all 40K+ mod and CC files with no issues.

It runs on directx 9 by default so you can update safely. Just update your mods. For use with dx11 you need to use a seperate command line in game properties.
In fact, these rewards are already included in the game, I just noticed that my sim got the “practice makes perfect” trait by exploring the personality, and an auto-generated NPC has the newest hairstyle on her head, and it's not even time for these rewards to be claimed yet. This means that the new items are indeed included in the latest base game, but you won't be able to find them directly in CAS and build mode.
Personaly, even though I don't like the fomo aspect, I'm not opposed to events like this. The sims lacks progression and while this isnt exactly that, it at least give me a reason to log on. Too many times do I boot the game up and build a lot then get stuck thinking what to do now. This event doesn't fix that but if they do events where gameplay gets you points to unlocking new items, then that would be really fun.
I would be happy with gameplay unlocked items - if it wasn't time based. (We sort of have that in the game already with the career rewards etc.)

You’d be surprised that common sense isn’t so common. From my experience in troubleshooting - There are players who have complained about a bug but haven’t updated their game where the bug is addressed. Some players will still say the game is broken when they’re using cc or mod (that may or may not need an update) instead of removing their mods folders. Cc can break just like mods which is another reason people shouldn’t download cc folders when downloading cc lots or sims from other players because organization can get iffy. That should be common sense - using a fresh save file and removing cc/mods alongside deleting the localthumbcache - but some people still make those mistakes and there is also an influx of new players who don’t know but want to use mods.
You would be so surprised. Its so common that it makes me sad.
If you look at the Sim 4 reddit, 75% of posts complaining about weird/uncommon bugs are people playing with broken mods/CC. They swear they have no mods installed in the post, but when you read through their comments it comes out they do have mods but "I've never had issues with this mod before", so they didn't feel the need to say they play with mods. These same people then make bug reports to EA, which results in the devs wasting hours looking into the issue, because the person lied and said they had no mods installed.

I can see this now and some are fixed but it's still a buggy mess so they still got a long way to go before this is even decent.
This doesn't make any sense, and is definitely not good news. If you have a stable" version of the game that you're playing offline, why are they forcing you to update? If they're pressed about people reporting bugs for older versions, then just ask everyone which version of the game they're running.
I like these events, I'd love for them to keep going. Anything that motivates me to get to my computer and play is a positive.
I also like that the awards are nice but not fantastic, so if i forget to log in I'm not hugely missing out.

The DX11 option works with a lot of mods without any issue.
Peoples should get the game updates. Especially when playing with mods. The best mods are made to work with the latest version and may not work correctly, or even not at all, with an outdated game. Not all moder maintain legacy versions of their mods available.
And we don't need anything resembling a battle pass. I like my offline game thank you

Super annoying because for a long time I didn’t have internet and would have to use my hotspot just so I could log on to play my game offline. Happened with the Origin app, too. I sent feedback but nothing ever changed. So I guess to me I’m just jealous y’all went this long without being forced to update lol

Since the update I have the Problem that my sims hair color (cc) changes almost everytime they change their outfits. And they reset more oft3n than before and cancle a whole buch of tasks I asked them to do. All in all I think it performs better but it is not Bug Free. At least for me.
(All my mods and cc are updated. I checked multiple Times. But I still dont get the Event popups either sooo...😂)
So I panicked for nothing. A bunch of guys are working on my mom's house and they cut a bunch of wires so our wifi is out and they didn't warn us beforehand so I was worried what would happen and had to use mom's Hotspot to update my game yesterday. I thought I'd never be able to play again. Why scare us like that??
If someone doesn’t have internet, how would they block them from continuing to play offline? I don’t think they can. It’s probably people that have internet that don’t use it for sims that they will be messing with. They can’t change what they can’t access.
I answered in all of the spaces that I would not launch the game for ANYTHING until I KNOW that all the core issues of the game have been fixed and putting out an expansion that caused corruption in people's save files was the final straw for me. NOTHING will make me launch the game. Period.

At least this new update did not break that many mods and the few it did were fixed quickly. At least for me that was the case. Still, no excuse for forced update, but at least mods aren't that big of an issue here.
As for the survey, tell me, please, I am not the only one who wrote I prefer new scenarios over this kind of event? At least scenarios are fun (usually) and something you don't usually do in the game. This event? Just boring waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing else.

What I find funny personally is that people are upset about this..I play a multitude of games that get updates constantly and YEAH you gotta update the game to play them - even one's not online..because they are coming out with possible fixes or DLC's etc - yeah gotta update your game. I think the key there is update and then LAUNCH THE GAME. I stopped playing the Sims 4 until they fix it. I'm not launching it for anything. Not their free gifts, not the threat of the game not working, not doing it for anything. And I think people like me making that decision is why they want us to "launch the game". They are seeing that older players, people who have been playing it for long time, AREN'T playing it much anymore so they are trying to get us to start up the game so we can be counted as having loaded it to play and be an "active player". Well I'm NOT an active player and not gonna fall for their tricks to be counted as one.

In my game the video machine maker that allows you to create videos won’t allow me to upload videos in the Sims. Is anybody else having this problem?
So I caught that right you can play Sims 4 offline, that's cool and all, but why can't those who play Sims 3 are unable to play offline and is forced to launch through the EA App. We should have to be forced to have to be logged in for a Decade+ old game. Also get rid of the Rewards for reskin/retextured items that already exist in the game. I tested it out with sorting out rewards and selecting colors and I was able to see and place all reward items before they were all "unlocked" Stop with this Play to win B.S. If I want a play to win game then I will do so if the game was originally designed with that model in mind. Also for the next gen Sims include Seasons, pets, city living life style with the base game.
My game works perfectly now that I stopped updating it like a year ago. I refuse to update it and deal with their endless bugs and the ridiculous shopping cart.

Why does anyone at any time ever have to update their game.. it could simply be, either you update your game, or if you can not show your game as being updated, then we just do not help you with your game problems.. with every update that comes, comes new problems as well.. more bugs, it should be an option, you can open your game, we can have an option on the app to not update the game, but if its not updated, we will not be assisting you with your problems.. You are simply on your own.. and with all new updates also comes new contract deals you have to agree to in order to even use the app.. and its a no choice option.. either accept it, or your game will not work any more.. You can have over 1000 bucks into the game, and tens of thousands of hours of work or time in the game.. its often work getting it all the way you want it for game play.. and then they an just come along and say, we are shutting you down if you do not update?
Did you see that the sims team ALREADY had to hot fix there own patch, AGAIN.
I wonder why only a few of us can play on EA app offline.

where is the update button going to be?? just log in to sims, there is a popup saying update! but it doesn't say how you do it!!!

I understand the update. It’s probably to help with the bug fix’s. No reason to be upset imo. Take a couple deep nose inhale, mouth exhale and it’ll be fine lol 😮😅😊I mean seriously did he say they were adding offline play? About time! I thought that was taken away after launch but maybe not. I dont remember it alwys saying youve been logged off when ever my mom or sister and i login while the other were playing on our own computers the first years of launch. unless they didn’t change that at all, and we still need Internet access in order to play the freaking game? I don’t know I stopped playing. I think around a few months after generations in between whenever the next pack, I think it was the horse pack. I’ve kept up with the releases, but yeah, I just stopped playing altogether.

Honestly I stopped playing Sims the beginning of January everytime I'm trying to play it I just get off it 30 seconds later😂😂
I don’t get it. I logged in today but no update. But when I logged into the game it gives a message to update before June 10th but nothing automatically update
That just means you're up to date, i got the same pop up but mine is up to date as well. I think they just sent it to everyone.
3:44 you are only supposed to report bugs after you have tested them without any cc or mods. If someone isn’t doing that, then their complaint is invalid.

I have no problem with being obligated to update providing the updates work. I don’t mind removing mods and waiting while they catch up.
I do resent updating then finding that something else gets broken and needing a patch for the update. If you are going to do it, do it right first time!

The update really upset me because I was just building a house for my new gameplay family. It was looking so nice and then these ea assholes fucking took me out of my game without a warning or chance to save my game

As a console player, I don't think this is a bad idea
