Just came across your channel at the right time the Sierras I’m hoping to do the PCT in 2027. I finished the AT section hiking in Aug 2023. Hiker blessing for you and your gang. May your pack feel light. Your miles be many and your pains be few God bless and safe journey.
I picked up two backpackers who were hitching a ride at the Onion Valley trailhead and drove them to Bishop during the pandemic. It was then when I learned what through hiking was. I was dumbfounded that people even did such a thing. Now I watch PCT through hiking every year.
This brings back memories. When I was 15 years old, 3 buddies (2 were 17 yrs old and the other 15 yrs old) and I began our trek in Onion Valley, hiked up over Kearsarge Pass and went on to complete 110 miles of the John Muir Trail before exiting at Florence Lake. Oh the memories...

Such beauty @and majesty!! 30 plus years ago, before bear boxes, we loved driving to the bottom of kings canyon and camping and hiking. We hiked near a river and had a couple of very close unafraid bear encounters.

When i hiked in 2020 i stayed at the lake then went over it was one of the best campsites and hikes of the trail

I hope Rach is eating lots of plant proteins. It’s easy for vegetarians to slip into protein deficiency. Physically pushing your muscles burns proteins fast…
I make sure to have a protein shake for breakfast and a protein bar for lunch! It is very hard for vegetarians out here haha
1) The California Board of Tourism should sponsor your videos. 2) A big thanks for giving up your evenings and chunks of your town days to edit and post these videos. 3) Your hiking crew is solid.
I hope you'll go back in August some year and hike the JMT again without snow.
10:50 Hitchhiking is perfectly legal in California. As long as you don't stand in the roadway or cause a traffic problem, the cops shouldn't ever bother you.

Ran into a momma bear and her cub at Upper Vidette last August.
