Not necessarily a legendary, but a sect, a dark-bug type that wants to get sacrifices for the actual legendary pokemon, but instead of sacrificing pokemon or humans because, well, keep that E rating, it sacrifices fruits and gold, using the obsidian knives to draw the image of the actual legendary and then throwing it into a volcano.

Only works when you manually select a move repeatedly, so moves like Rollout, Outrage, Fly, etc. that continue automatically don't work. If the ability were programmed in the same way (which it probably would be irl), that wouldn't work either, which is a shame. It could obvs be changed in a new game though. I don't think it'd be overpowered or anything either, since even with two Metronome effects going at once, you won't do more than you would with a Choice Band until the 5th hit (ar which point Metronome hits 2489 base power and Choice Band hits 2319). But even then there's only a 59% chance of hitting 5 turns in a row, so not all that worth it.
Everyone always does unused type combos, but I think it would be cool to see underused type combos as well. There are so many combos that only have one Pokémon in them and I’d like to see more of those get noticed.

As someone who isn't really a fan of the "little guys", I found myself really liking your design of Rotatona. Fairy/Ground is such a cool typing. I'd love to see you design a Steel type Fakemon next, if you're still going by types for your Gen 9 videos.
With this being a theorethical gen 9, there is another design inspiration you can take based on a pre-established pattern: in each odd numbered pokemon generation, a 2 stage mushroom pokemon has been released, those being Parasect, Breloom, Amoonguss and Shiinotic. Your own take on such a mushroom pokemon could be very interesting.
you should "hallow" ghost types by making them extra terrifying like an absolutely horrifying gengar. the witching moon could make pre-existing ghost types reach their full potential. like a ghost type exclusive mega evolution.
For me, Flygon always looked like the original Stinkfly ("Insectoide" in Spanish), that Ben 10 alien-bug, to me it always looked like a bug-dragon type.
There is also a snake with a spider decoy tail, maybe it can be added to Ariamano's evolution concept About Rotatona's fairy type, an explanation could be Aluxes, in Mexico they are mischievous nature spirits, normally portrayed small and unpredictable like the fae

Love all three of these, I especially like to see an evolution for Rotatona. Next, I think the region lacks some big cool guys beyond the starters. Every region needs those star pokemons like Luxray, Gardevoir and Machamp. The kind of pokemon that stands beside an elite 4 member. I think a manticore pokemon could be really cool, we haven't see anything like that yet. A giant eagle with an interesting second type (maybe Poison or Ice) could be fun. I'd also love to see a Fighting type based on jaguar warriors. I know 3 stage evolution lines take more time so maybe design the last stages now and fill in the blanks latter on ?
We need some water types in the region, perhaps a Pokémon based on a Gulper Eel with an opera theme because they always look like they are singing 🤷♀️

I feel like due to its overwhelming size in the render ( I understand that it isn’t actually that big) Chispeka feels like it should be a secondary evolution in a line rather than a stand-alone pikachu-clone. I feel like it needs a cuter, smaller for that looks more like the traditional pikachu-clone although I understand that ur goal was to stray from the formula a bit with it.
What about the box legendaries being based off of the old gods Huitzilopochtli (War God, form of Hummingbird), Tlaloc (Rain God, form of Heron or Shellfish) and Quetzalcoatl (God of Wind and Morning Star, form of Feathered Serpent). Love your guys work on the Maza region!
(A bit late, but...) I don't know if this was intentional, but there's something about the Chispeka lore of leaving in shame after defeat but then returning stronger after training elsewhere that plays interestingly with the themes of tradition, community, and generational gaps. I could easily imagine one being the "signature pokemon" of someone else who *also* lost an important battle, and out of shame, left to train with other people such as the trainer. There's even an obvious, very Pokemon character arc about finding a new definition of strength and a new way to obtain it, specifically one that's very different from what they're used to.
Since you're looking for suggestions , a hummingbird pokemon would be perfect as not only are they a very famous and unique animal which hasn't yet been "pokefied", but they also have cultural ties with the real life region Maza is based on! In old Aztec culture hummingbirds not only represented the main patron god of the mexican people(Huītzilōpōchtli), but they were also thought to be the reincarnated spirits of warriors returning to the living world, so I think a ghost/fighting or ghost/fairy based on this myth would fit perfectly on the pokedex.
Maybe Rotatona could, along with an evolution and a counterpart be a really interesting spin on a fossil pokemon, sinxe you could dig old artefacts of mayan society up and revive them into fossil pokemon :). It would also be a fun diversion from the prehistoric fossis previously used
You should do a pokemon related to the hot weather maybe even a new type for castform! Edit: I forgot castform already had a sunny form so maybe a new form for cacnea like the nopal in México.
I love the designs you've come up with for the Maza region! I think it'd be really neat to play with the Aztec gods Quetzalcoatl, Xolotl, and Huitzilopochtli for the legendary trio, or just part of the region's Mythical Pokemon. The former two are twins and share a fascinating creation myth.
The competitive ability of rotatona would be so good! Specifically speaking the ability, combine with a scarf and you just got something insane happening.
There’s a lot of Pokémon in this region with prominent hands/feet in their design. For that, I’ve invented a move. TM200: Shock Buzzer- The Pokémon approaches the opponent for an innocent handshake before surprising them with a contact-electrocution. Electric-type, Physical Move, 50 Base Power 80% change to flinch opponent (Or, maybe it’s a Dark-type move that can paralyze the foe)

Rotatona is by far my favourite. The idea of an ancient jungle artifact pokemon that has a mind of it's own is just such an interesting idea! It also fits the ground-fairy typing quite a fair bit.
*Today is a good day!* -Quote Squirtle I seriously love all these designs, so much character Ariamano is a little too goofy for my taste, but I do like the design I really like Rotatona, it’s an object Pokémon that looks cool and has interesting, somewhat multi-levelled inspirations. Which are kinda rare in Pokémon, they exist for sure, I Love Chandelure, Runerigus, and Mimikyu a lot. I’m not sure if I would use a Rotatona though, we’d have to see Chispeka is ok, definitely my least favourite of the three. It really pushes the line of what is a pika clone, it’s quite bulky which is off putting. Plus it’s name isn’t japanese (Atleast as far as I can tell), which all 8 (9 if you count Pikachu, or 7 If you don’t count Pichu) have been. All and all a good batch, not one of my favourite batches but still some gems in there
I like how Chispeka's dex info is basically similar to how wrestlers typically lose on their way out of a company and tend to return after an extended period working in either the indies or other companies.
My little sister has come to love this series, and she even made her own "hallowed trubbish" in which he looked like a witch hat haha. You're really shaping a new generation of Pokémon lovers, and don't tell her, but I bought her Pokémon sword for her Christmas gift - her first Pokémon adventure :)
You should do a fairy/dark pokemon based on the forest of the dolls: they could be guardians that after loosing their kids decided to roam the forests to protect children, and they aren't necessarily ghosts, since they're only dolls that stopped contact with their kids (mostly because they grew old), that's what makes them so mysterious.
I've said this before, your designs are top tier, but your stats are super low for final stage Pokemon. Are you intending on developing a mechanic that boosts attack and Defense depending on different battle conditions? 👀
I think considering the environments, often found in Pokemon games might be the natural next step. A dessert, and jungle, a waterfront or even an urban area can open up a lot of ideas and finite the focus of the next designs you wanna make. This is by far my favorite series on the channel and im hoping we one day have a full 100+ mon Maza region dex to dream about. Keep up the great work Jack :D
There's a definite low pitch hum during any dialog in this specific episode. I don't see many mentions of it in the comments so I guess only a few people can hear it.
So I know that Mexico really doesn’t have snow, but every Pokémon has a ‘snow’ area. It’s a regional variant of sudowoodo! It is now ice type, and more resembles a cedar tree. It changes into this form because it can no longer camouflage as a regular tree in this snowy area, so it has to change itself so it can fit in more.
I had an idea for a pair of regional variants that would go very well with this region. Alternate forms of Gallade and Toros based on bullfighting. The alternate Gallade is a fire fighting Matador Pokemon, while the Toros is dark and ground. Each of them have a weakness to the other, and at the same time, are strong against the other, creating a pair that are destined to combat.
Chispeka is a really neat design, and i love that their pokedex entry sort of explains their trainer-like lifestyle. I can totally see a story arc of a trainer trying to get along with their Chispeka, but it just wants to be an independent fighter. Eventually Chispeka and its trainer would see eye to eye and develop the dynamic of a tag-team wrestling duo. If you need writers...
I love Chispeka! I normally don’t love Pikachu clones, but I’d 100% have this little guy on a team! I can totally imagine a fighting gym that is set in one of their caves, with Pokémon and trainers alike watching the battles like a spectator sport!
Another awesome video with amazing designs! If you want to hit some other possible "Pokestereotypes" of the generations, here are a few that are pretty common: 1. The 3-stage dragon. I'm sure you're saving this one for later, and you've already noted the prevalence of this trope. Think Dragonite line, Goodra line, Dragapult line, etc., etc. 2. The 1-stage dragon. This one is an infrequent but fun trope, with the likes of Duraladon, Drampa, Turtonator, and Druddigon. This is a rare trope, but my personal favorite of the bunch, just because it allows the designers to make some more out-there dragon designs. 3. Fossilmon! Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't, but since you're making a region based on the place where the meteor landed that took out the dinosaurs, I'd loved to see some with this region. Another idea on this front might be to have older fossils now given new "Mazda Forms", where their proximity to the meteor has seemingly retained more of their primal power. 4. The fish. Many generations like to introduce a kind of commonplace fish Pokemon to swim around the waters and get pulled up by Old Rods. While older generations gave us a ton of boring fish, new generations stick to like, one or two more interesting fishlines. Whether they be Fineon, Magikarp, Luvdisc, Goldeen, Basculin, Alomolola, Bruxish, Arrokuda, or Wishiwashi, they're a staple of the games. 5. The gimmicky normal type. Ditto, Smeargle, Kecleon, Furfrou, Silvally, and Sawsbuck are some of them, although you could argue that Slakoth, Regigas, Eevee, and the Porygon line also fit. Gamefreak likes to make normal-types with cool battle or evolution/aesthetic gimmicks, it seems. 6. The foodmon. Since Gamefreak left Japan-based regions behind, they've started making sentient Pokemon based on the famous cultural dishes of the new regions. There's a little of that in your region already, but with Mexican cuisine being both incredibly cultural important *and* fricking amazing, I'd love to see even more. Especially if your region's "Chansey" somehow took reference from the Tamalina custom. Another thing of note, but modern generations seemed to be running on a "at least 3 new Pokemon lines for each type" rule.

6:53 the ability for Rotatona sounds super OP, like slap a choice item on it and either Earthquake or Play Rough and you have a killing machine

What about a honey badger pokemon, that if it levels up with a combee in your inventory, it evolves into a “honey” badger, that works with combees.
That would look like a awesome Pokémon also I like the combee idea.
One problem: Honey bagers live in Africa not Mexico and honey bagers are the enemies of all insects especially Bees!

@@alexweiswasser4585 That actually would fit the theme of this Mexican region, like a mexican sherif pokemon! But what about a gila monster pokemon? If I am not mistaken gila monsters live in the dessert so maybe you can find this pokemon in the Mazah Region's dessert locations.

I feel like due to its overwhelming size in the render ( I understand that it isn’t actually that big) Chispeka feels like it should be a secondary evolution in a line rather than a stand-alone pikachu-clone. I feel like it needs a cuter, smaller for that looks more like the traditional pikachu-clone although I understand that ur goal was to stray from the formula a bit with it.

What about the box legendaries being based off of the old gods Huitzilopochtli (War God, form of Hummingbird), Tlaloc (Rain God, form of Heron or Shellfish) and Quetzalcoatl (God of Wind and Morning Star, form of Feathered Serpent). Love your guys work on the Maza region!

I feel like you should make another form for rotatona which would be a legendary Pokémon form and it would be the spirit that was inside the rock.
(A bit late, but...) I don't know if this was intentional, but there's something about the Chispeka lore of leaving in shame after defeat but then returning stronger after training elsewhere that plays interestingly with the themes of tradition, community, and generational gaps. I could easily imagine one being the "signature pokemon" of someone else who *also* lost an important battle, and out of shame, left to train with other people such as the trainer. There's even an obvious, very Pokemon character arc about finding a new definition of strength and a new way to obtain it, specifically one that's very different from what they're used to.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the actual photo of it.
Since you're looking for suggestions , a hummingbird pokemon would be perfect as not only are they a very famous and unique animal which hasn't yet been "pokefied", but they also have cultural ties with the real life region Maza is based on! In old Aztec culture hummingbirds not only represented the main patron god of the mexican people(Huītzilōpōchtli), but they were also thought to be the reincarnated spirits of warriors returning to the living world, so I think a ghost/fighting or ghost/fairy based on this myth would fit perfectly on the pokedex.

Maybe Rotatona could, along with an evolution and a counterpart be a really interesting spin on a fossil pokemon, sinxe you could dig old artefacts of mayan society up and revive them into fossil pokemon :). It would also be a fun diversion from the prehistoric fossis previously used
You should do a pokemon related to the hot weather maybe even a new type for castform! Edit: I forgot castform already had a sunny form so maybe a new form for cacnea like the nopal in México.

I love the designs you've come up with for the Maza region! I think it'd be really neat to play with the Aztec gods Quetzalcoatl, Xolotl, and Huitzilopochtli for the legendary trio, or just part of the region's Mythical Pokemon. The former two are twins and share a fascinating creation myth.

There’s a lot of Pokémon in this region with prominent hands/feet in their design. For that, I’ve invented a move.

Rotatona is by far my favourite. The idea of an ancient jungle artifact pokemon that has a mind of it's own is just such an interesting idea! It also fits the ground-fairy typing quite a fair bit.

I really like Rotatona, it’s an object Pokémon that looks cool and has interesting, somewhat multi-levelled inspirations. Which are kinda rare in Pokémon, they exist for sure, I Love Chandelure, Runerigus, and Mimikyu a lot. I’m not sure if I would use a Rotatona though, we’d have to see
Chispeka is ok, definitely my least favourite of the three. It really pushes the line of what is a pika clone, it’s quite bulky which is off putting. Plus it’s name isn’t japanese (Atleast as far as I can tell), which all 8 (9 if you count Pikachu, or 7 If you don’t count Pichu) have been.
All and all a good batch, not one of my favourite batches but still some gems in there
I like how Chispeka's dex info is basically similar to how wrestlers typically lose on their way out of a company and tend to return after an extended period working in either the indies or other companies.

My little sister has come to love this series, and she even made her own "hallowed trubbish" in which he looked like a witch hat haha. You're really shaping a new generation of Pokémon lovers, and don't tell her, but I bought her Pokémon sword for her Christmas gift - her first Pokémon adventure :)
I would love a Hollowed form of Bisharp, something Aztec or Mayan themed.
You should do a fairy/dark pokemon based on the forest of the dolls: they could be guardians that after loosing their kids decided to roam the forests to protect children, and they aren't necessarily ghosts, since they're only dolls that stopped contact with their kids (mostly because they grew old), that's what makes them so mysterious.
I've said this before, your designs are top tier, but your stats are super low for final stage Pokemon. Are you intending on developing a mechanic that boosts attack and Defense depending on different battle conditions? 👀

I think considering the environments, often found in Pokemon games might be the natural next step. A dessert, and jungle, a waterfront or even an urban area can open up a lot of ideas and finite the focus of the next designs you wanna make. This is by far my favorite series on the channel and im hoping we one day have a full 100+ mon Maza region dex to dream about. Keep up the great work Jack :D

So I know that Mexico really doesn’t have snow, but every Pokémon has a ‘snow’ area. It’s a regional variant of sudowoodo! It is now ice type, and more resembles a cedar tree. It changes into this form because it can no longer camouflage as a regular tree in this snowy area, so it has to change itself so it can fit in more.

I had an idea for a pair of regional variants that would go very well with this region. Alternate forms of Gallade and Toros based on bullfighting. The alternate Gallade is a fire fighting Matador Pokemon, while the Toros is dark and ground. Each of them have a weakness to the other, and at the same time, are strong against the other, creating a pair that are destined to combat.
Chispeka is a really neat design, and i love that their pokedex entry sort of explains their trainer-like lifestyle. I can totally see a story arc of a trainer trying to get along with their Chispeka, but it just wants to be an independent fighter. Eventually Chispeka and its trainer would see eye to eye and develop the dynamic of a tag-team wrestling duo. If you need writers...
I love imagining Rotatona's idle animation being it rolling back and forth in a fight! It's a simple concept and you executed it really well!

I love Chispeka! I normally don’t love Pikachu clones, but I’d 100% have this little guy on a team! I can totally imagine a fighting gym that is set in one of their caves, with Pokémon and trainers alike watching the battles like a spectator sport!

If you want to hit some other possible "Pokestereotypes" of the generations, here are a few that are pretty common:
1. The 3-stage dragon. I'm sure you're saving this one for later, and you've already noted the prevalence of this trope. Think Dragonite line, Goodra line, Dragapult line, etc., etc.
2. The 1-stage dragon. This one is an infrequent but fun trope, with the likes of Duraladon, Drampa, Turtonator, and Druddigon. This is a rare trope, but my personal favorite of the bunch, just because it allows the designers to make some more out-there dragon designs.
3. Fossilmon! Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't, but since you're making a region based on the place where the meteor landed that took out the dinosaurs, I'd loved to see some with this region. Another idea on this front might be to have older fossils now given new "Mazda Forms", where their proximity to the meteor has seemingly retained more of their primal power.
4. The fish. Many generations like to introduce a kind of commonplace fish Pokemon to swim around the waters and get pulled up by Old Rods. While older generations gave us a ton of boring fish, new generations stick to like, one or two more interesting fishlines. Whether they be Fineon, Magikarp, Luvdisc, Goldeen, Basculin, Alomolola, Bruxish, Arrokuda, or Wishiwashi, they're a staple of the games.
5. The gimmicky normal type. Ditto, Smeargle, Kecleon, Furfrou, Silvally, and Sawsbuck are some of them, although you could argue that Slakoth, Regigas, Eevee, and the Porygon line also fit. Gamefreak likes to make normal-types with cool battle or evolution/aesthetic gimmicks, it seems.
6. The foodmon. Since Gamefreak left Japan-based regions behind, they've started making sentient Pokemon based on the famous cultural dishes of the new regions. There's a little of that in your region already, but with Mexican cuisine being both incredibly cultural important *and* fricking amazing, I'd love to see even more. Especially if your region's "Chansey" somehow took reference from the Tamalina custom.
Another thing of note, but modern generations seemed to be running on a "at least 3 new Pokemon lines for each type" rule.
